Yep. I want to see these youtubers pack everything for a family of 4 or 5 in the bed along with all sleeping bags, pads and food. Most of the time, it's just them solo or bringing a buddy with another vehicle. Show us how it's done for an average family going camping out in the backcountry.
@@omegatek6905 Why would this youtuber do that when his family consists of 2 people and a dog? Follow someone with a full family if that what you want to see. 🤷♂
I can’t say that I’ve ever slept in the back of the pick up truck, though I know a lot of friends and family that have, but when I was a little guy, I slept on a lot of boats gotta be a similar situation, except for boats move. Although when bikepacking, I trained myself to sleep in the seat on my recumbent trike, so I wouldn’t have to bring a sleep system.
I got the previous Hub tent and it's so great for my wife and I. We actually ran into Talon at FSR which was so weird since his video is what got me there. We used it as a shelter during a snowy Halloween party and three people asked where they could get one. At the time FSR wasn't selling any so it's cool to see them back in that market. There are some interesting changes in this new one.
i want an Overlandish hub tents they look so dope! this reminds me of it. great video as always guys. always nice seeing mike on the channel do the pod cast!! ill defiantly be listing in
The hub tent is cool. Wish I had the room in my Jeep Gladiator. I don't run any racks with my tonneau so everything for a family of 4 has to fit in the bed. Tent, sleeping bags and pads, tarps, camp kitchen, propane tank and cooler for food. Everything has to fit in the back of the bed with the tonneau closed. Hub tent is just too big though.
Been inching towards buying that HUB2 as it’s also on sale right now. Really excited when I saw you pull that out. I’m digging that the light does leak in a bit, since there’s no clear view windows in inclement weather, so it’s nice to see you’re not going to be completely blacked-out if needing the panels dropped, while staying dry. And that stove-jack… 🤌🏼
"Two guys and a fire" should be the name of the podcast lol. Make sure you have the fire in the background to give the full immersion to the listeners so they feel like they're there also.
Love my FSR hub tent. You won’t get all that light coming in with the rain fly on. Last trip to Moab we didn’t wake up till almost 9am cause it was black out. Also running that thing with a wood stove is cozy town USA, population: my face
I have a question on the iceco mainly the battery setup. Is the battery a pass through? Meaning that I have a 12v and a 110 plug in my bed that works when the truck is running. Can I plug the battery into the truck then the fridge into the battery and never have to worry about switching cords around? I’m looking for a fridge/freezer that will live in the back of the truck 24-7 365 for work.
I’m new to camping and I was wondering if the fear of someone attacking you while you sleep is common. It is fairly easy for someone to get into your tent while you sleep and while I’m not the heaviest sleeper I don’t think my reaction time would be fast enough to defend myself.
Buy the super small s carabiners with the little lock and put them on the zippers. It’s slow to place and remove and buys you reactionary time. Just look for little things that increase your reactionary gap that make you feel more comfortable.
@@amorton94 It's a common concern for people who don't have a history of camping or have reasons in their life to always question safety. In time people adapt, but it's a process.
I think the fear is pretty common but also sort of irrational. In this case any way, just because it would be easier to do. doesn't mean it is more likely to happen. Go camping and rest easy.
Snow loads in that hub tent? Since it has a port for wood stove CAN IT BE DONE?! Brian from off grid backcountry has done way more with way less living out there I’ve been following him for years and wanting to enjoy his style of camping in the winter but with a new gear spin. I enjoy out in the middle of nowhere mountains winter vibes I feel it helps with the combat ptsd. Any info would help Peace out ✌🏽🙏🏽 -Roy
Very much of the opinion that if you can take it, take it. Doesn’t impact anyone else if it’s in your vehicle. Take it. I just hope people don’t not go because “too little gear”. Buy the basics, get out there, and learn what you want to take next time
You have had experience with the Ignik firecan, lava box and now the Howl. Is it really a huge difference in heat output to warrant like a $700 difference in price with the Howl? I get the "made in america" concept, but that's a massive leap in price. Or would you say the average camper that gets out like 10ish times a year would be happy enough with the Ammo can style campfires?
Yes I think they would. The howl is way better at actually keeping you warm but if I was the average few camp nights a year camper, I wouldn’t own one. It would be great for backyard use too tho!
Most wildlife can climb ladders. So, while people "feel safer" in a RTT, they really aren't. Also, when out on a multi-day trip, a RTT is a pain in the ass because you can't just hop in your vehicle and take off. And then there's all that weight up top. It makes for an interesting experience when off-camber.
$1300 for a propane campfire is not practical at all. Anyone who purchases one of these, that doesn’t make a living off of outdoor content, doesn’t have respect for their own money. It is such an absurd price that they would still be overcharging if they cut the price in half. This is the “overland upcharge” at its best.
To each as own man, if someone finds the value in it, then its worth it to them. Money is a relative topic, my guy. It may be ridiculous for someone like you and i, but for someone else who would utilize it every weekend, then i can see where it would be worth it
Podcast around the fire would be dope
There is no such thing as, "To much gear." However, there is such a thing as, "Not enough space."
That's because it's "too much gear". 😉
@amorton94 dont come here with that kind of negativity 😂😂

I remember meeting you guys! Glad the OG Hub has been working out for you 👍🏻
I don’t mean to question it but why not share the warm tent with your buddy? There is plenty of space in there.
He was filming his own video about sleeping in the bed of his truck

I know there are Gazelle tents, Overland Bound has them on their site. They might be just as big folded down.
Gazelle T4 is still too long for the gladiator bed unless you put it in diagonally.
Overlandish Hub tent should fit, it’s less than 5ft long.

Do the pod! I was a little dumpster before so I look forward to any new pods of yours in the future.
Just an idea would FSR make an amber version possibly an exchangeable amber light to keep the bugs away?
Dropping knowledge podcast was great. You should definitely do another one!
Did you tell Mike that you and Ashley (sp?) stayed in the back of your bed under your Diamondback?
2:12 and you mentioned it.

It’s not something I ever worry about. I typically camp pretty far off the beaten path so seeing other people while at a spot is not common.
Buy the super small s carabiners with the little lock and put them on the zippers. It’s slow to place and remove and buys you reactionary time. Just look for little things that increase your reactionary gap that make you feel more comfortable.
