Always a nice guy and really humble. I've met him about five times and the first was when I was just a teeny bopper. He offered me some of his food and let us watch the soundcheck.
This is why these guys are fucking amazing. All completely different individually, but rock it when they're together! Wish I was around in the 70's 80's to experience their height of awesomeness!
Quite often I come off as long-winded, & here's another ocassion! Thanks so much for posting this RARE interview with Dave! He and the band have been such an inspiration and it's great to see that he's doing so well! The pioneer of the goth/punk scene, in my opinion! N if you don't think he's still goth at heart, just ask Patricia! LONG LIVE THE DAMNED!!!
Couldn't agree more. Had the pleasure of meeting him in 1986, as a completely fan struck 14 year old, and he could not have been more genuinely hospitable and nice if he tried. Fond, fond memories. An absolute gentleman.
Saw the damned at the roundhouse June 2015 they were absolutely brilliant last time I saw them was Brighton 1980 ..best band on the planet already ordered tickets for Hastings August and the big one Albert hall 2016...so Dave captain and the rest of the band thanks for being an incredibly positive part of my life... I salute you ...
Nice to see Vanian wearing something other than a white shirt. I'm a major fan of Charles II BTW. And this is the MOST OPEN AND LAID BACK I've ever seen the guy. And he looked bloody good at 49.
More people have been in The Damned than Tescos; but they´ve always been a GROUP; and the noise has always been good. The Damned are almost like a football club; good times-bad times-new signings-relegation-victories-defeats-champions-always there-you love them always
Captain will occasionally wind Vanian up by playing a riff just as he's into an onstage monologue. I think there's a bit of a jibe going on there - and some ribbing for Vanian's 'GothElvis' vocal delivery and panto-Dracula character.
I lived next door to Dave Vanian in North London in 1990 in a suburb called Crouch End. I forgot the name of the street. I wish I could remember it. Any clues?
thanks for puttin it on. never saw an interview with him. Human, not annoying or "famous". No is as eccentric as..well no word applies to anyone but the british.
the damned in my opinion were better and more well rounded than the sex pistols AND the clash...and @TheGuinessboys i could see that working out actually...they have that baritone voice...and dave sounds better than glenn does in present day
06:43, Dave is so right. put them sepparately and you see an idiot with a red cap, a count Dracula, some sloppy red haired guy and a couple of other guys heh whatever! lovely band, god bless them

love his voice even when he speaks
LOVE YOU DAVE! you made my youth great,,,im a 46 y.o. kid. --thank you

i think he's a shy person myself......never been comfortable in the limelight ..but my God he is Dave Vanian ...and we love him...

Met him in 85 after a Show. Lovely warm characterful person. My favorite band, seen them over a dozen times to date. October 22 most recent.
crikey! an interview with DV AND on camera!
Thanks very much :-D
whats the secret dave looking so good at 51

@TheGuinnessboys That's actually fitting. Glenn wrote the Samhain song Archangel with intent on having Dave sing on it.
The Damned are still favorites of mine!
Great interview (this & part 2) thanks for posting

Smash It Up! Smash It Up!
This is on the damned MB
glasses match the wallpaint
Well, in that case I'd say Dave is a very lucky man.
he is a Vampire
sunglasses i think
This guy was gonna be Glenn Danzigs replacement for The Misfits
"Depressing" pretty much sums up this shit.
Love The Damned.
But still.
Message to the people should be Don't become a prog rock act like us 🤘🤘🤘🤘
he should just go on stage like this with the green striped shirt. either that or untuck the white shirt, it doesn't look good tucked in.
