Matriphagy is a concept album about how an overprotective mother pushes her son to the edge of insanity through psychological & physical abuse. Having spent two decades trapped inside a glorified prison, and after some failed rescue/escape attempts, the son, in a state of heavy delirium does the unforgivable to free himself from his mother's wicked hold.

LYRICS:
I live to please, and that’s the notion
But I’m pressed for time-let’s make it gold
I’m too good to cut outside-to transform
Exhale with pleasure and let it drop
You’ll lie to me, but I won’t know
Until she keeps you under thumb
Hold on while I confess in the corner of names and shame
Was it wrong or right? We just can't tell
I live to please-to serve
Some call it Hell, but that’s the sell, yeah
So it rains and pours, and we all get doused
You’ll lie to me, but I won’t know
Until she keeps you under thumb
In the back of the cabinet, you’ll find it’s home
When she keeps you under thumb
O’ I did what I done, and I can’t undone,
So you got what you got
Don't you want me?
You’ll lie to me, but I won’t know
Until she keeps you under thumb
In the back of the cabinet, you’ll find it’s home
When she keeps you under thumb

If this came out in 2000-2005 you’d be one of the biggest bands of all time
*not saying it’s outdated, saying it’s fantastic, and when this music was more popular it would’ve blown all the way up*
we need a nu-metal resurgence....its my fav genre but, i was born in 2004, during its downfall and as such didnt discover it until last year via slipknot....i barely have any new bands to look forward too but im hoping tallah changes that by kickstarting the rebirth of nu-metal...
tallah=new korn i hope.....
They do give off late nu-metal vibes
@@alithiummusicarchive7869 Listen to Cane Hill even they are good
@@alithiummusicarchive7869 damn thats crazy, that just last year you finally found slipknot... thankful bands like that exist and stand the test of time, other generations get to experience the insanity
@@HotChipsAndLies yeah man, i didnt mention this before but slipknot didnt just introduce me to nu-metal but to metal period, now i listen to everything from deathcore and black metal to industrial and nu-metal....one chance encounter with slipknot has changed my life musically so much :]
Everyone saying that this is the softest track like damn this song already had me moshing in my bedroom
This is low key one of the heaviest songs when you listen to the lyrics
@@rowanhennessy1128 pp go snipity
It is probably the softest track, which just goes to show how fucking hard the album hits. Damn I love Matriphagy so much
In terms of the whole album it probably is the softest but it’s still one of my faves
@@billyreinhardt2040 kungan commit pp deletus
Tallah is what metal and rock music needs. Absolutely iconic.
@MoyoLaPoyo
"Take out the rock"? What do you mean by that?
@@ashleynoname3580 rock sucks. I think that's what they meant
@@BirdOfHermes83 I think he meant it's metal, not rock
This type of music needs to make a comeback
It just did ;)
Most of the rest of the album is gonna be a lot heavier they said tho. But I’m still lovin it and can’t wait for the rest. There’s also a bunch of bands who have been mixing nu metal with modern stuff the past few years on its comeback: Orthodox, GroundCulture, Weeping Wound, Tetrarch, My Ticket Home, Cane Hill.. even heavier ones like Dealer, Alpha Wolf, Emmure (obvi, been around a while).. I know I’m forgetting a bunch.
I agree. I like the 90s\ Pantera\ slipknot sound.
It is already making a comeback slowly. Don’t know if it can hit the mainstream since everyone is on a edm train still.
†HΣ DΣV¡LS ЯΣJΣC† Cane Hill and Alpha wolf are amazing!!!! But the singer on their first album (Mono is the name I think?) left. I’ll look up his new band real quick!
i love the fact that this is the 'softest' song, its such an amazing song. i also absolutely love this music video cus its so weird, i also really like justins outfit.
Sound wise it’s their softest song. Lyrically speaking, this is when Kungan emasculated himself to try and please his mom
@@TheVO_Official yeah the whole album is pretty brutal and this song is one of the most brutal lyrics wise from this album!
@@TheVO_Officialsound wise would belong to How Long
I would never call this “soft”
@@williamsilva5773 no, it's not soft at all, im just saying that it's the softest song of this particular album :).
Numetal never went away, they were just waiting for new members. I'm digging the 90's colorvibe. White zombie style
The generation that were kids listening to nu metal in it’s prime our now putting out their own music with metal gatekeepers getting too old to care
I've never heard of this band but damn, this song slapped me in the face and singers vocals punched me in the guts and now I want more
Oh man... Are you in for a ride!!
When Matriphagy drops... strap your brain in with a seatbeat….
Wait till you hear the rest that’s gonna be heavier and the re-produced NOSRT songs.. ooofff this albums gonna be insane!
Check out Hungry Lights too, it's the vocalists solo project!
Monster Fukk and it’s amazing !! Yes pls check out Hungry Lights too
It's the first time I've fallen in love with a band vocalist
See Hungry Lights . Is the solo work of vocalist.

I've been following Justin since he was amnaeon, and it has been one of the most immersive and interesting celebrity stories lol from going through an identity crisis and deleting EVERYTHING from every platform because people were more focused on his covers than his original music to forming a successful band, this dude is crazy as fuck and has some really fascinating philosophies. His live streams on his personal channel Hungry Lights are also fucking fantastic. And if you have the chance, RUclips To the End of All Things. Loving Justin’s implementation of clean vocals, shows you guys are diversifying your sound. And this being the single means that the rest of the songs are gonna be heavy as fuck
They did clean vocals before but yeah I agree. Also if you have not heard Justin's solo stuff, he's done a bunch of things and all sorts of screams and cleans and it's nuts.
Perpetual Havoc nah my point was that singles nowadays are meant to be catchy and “radio-friendly” in a way. But that’s because it’s a single. But I just took it as an indicator that the heaviness will be on the rest of the songs on the album, not this one. :)
@@rakanm3857 Yes, the rest of the album is insanely heavy. This is the radio single with no screams. The other tracks have sludgy breakdowns, Walmart-trashing riffs, gutturals, tunnel throat, and all those beautiful deathcore vocals. The Silo is the catchy/chill song.
@@Tallah Hey, despite the softer track, still sounds great. Very excited to hear the crazy shit, and also for the return of the NOSRT tracks.

"Walmart-trashing riffs" is so 2020 vibe XD
Tallah is killing it as usual, can't wait for the album :)
Huge pop when you realize this song transitions into We The Sad. BRAVO. Hoping you boys are able to come to Canada after this whole covid thing is over.
You can also hear a little snippet of We, The Sad at 1:58 :)
Pllllleeeeeeaaassssseeeee come to Vancouver!!!!!!!
Love that fucking song! Definitely my favorite so far 🤘🤘
and then you notice this song transitions from L.E.D
Most of the songs off the album transitions to the next
Justin's outfit is everything.
Vocalist rocked that outfit
This is what Dir En Grey would sound like if they were American
I saw them live years ago.supporting NIN
That’s exactly what I thought lol
They always had huge potential since the start and this song is the kickstart to the next level. Earache I think you stumbled upon a goldmine here. Can't wait to hear more from these guys.
The solo was just in the right place and sounded like there's nothing else could fit there. Sometimes even major bands write stupid solos and they sound like it was for a different song. Worth watching until the end! Great job!
Just discovered this band today. I’m extremely particular with my heavier genres, but these guys are fuckin tight. I keep seeing the Slipknot/KoRn/Linkin Park comments, and I strongly agree. But it’s no mimicking, they got their own sound.
Haven’t heard this kind of uniqueness since the first time I heard Alice in chains and slipknot etc. Justin is a special kind of vocalist/lyricist that we haven’t seen the likes of since the 90’s. Just inspiring to see such talent as a fellow musician.
the concept goes really well with the sound imo. i am digging it
can definitely rock with this
its like the natural evolution of early korn with more expressive vocals
oh man. cant wait for the fucking albummm
it's maybe the 10th time i listened to this song today, i think i've fallen in love with this track
i don't really know why but it could be bc i've never quite heard anything like this before
Something so nostalgic but yet so fresh about your guys music. I love every bit of it. can't wait to hear the rest of the album. Love you guys come back to AZ soon! ❤️
He really has his own singing style you know.
I will support you guys forever, been here even before Earache.
Just pre-ordered the album. I've loved everything by you guys, such a unique sound. And so much energy. Been a fan of Justin since Jared Dine's vocal contest.
The perfect 2020 antidote, roll on the full album🙏
Really surprised by this one. It's definitely pretty good I'll say that, by far the softest Tallah song. That's one thing I love about you guys, always ready and willing to switch it up and experiment. I do hope to hear some of that heavy pissed off psycho Tallah too tho on the new record. Whatever you guys make I'm certain it's gonna be great.

This song is so good and the video is incredible as always. Tallah makes the best videos to go with their amazing music. My favorite band hands down!
Definitely agree. There live show is insane as well. Fell In love with this band when I saw them. Wish them nothing but the best. Justin's other projects are good as well.
@@untitled316 I'm in Canada but if they make it our way, I will definitely be going! So far my favorite Tallah song. Amazing job guys
Just pre-ordered the signed copy of Matriphagy. Can't wait until October
Jack Rice i did too
Some thoughts coming back to this after the lore vid: So if the only 3 characters in this concept are Tallah, Kungan, and Labifu, and I'm assuming this is coming from the point of Kungan, is Tallah somehow controlling Labifu to lie to Kungan? And WHAT exactly is it that's in the back of the cabinet? I'm so madly fucking excited for this album and to learn more and hear all the amazing musicianship going into it!
These questions will be answered in the other concept videos. The only one that's been released was the preface. There will be a concept-explanation video for every track on the album >:)
Well, now after coming back from the Silo lore vid, and we know this song is about Kungan cutting off his weenie, it sounds like 1:40 is about when that happens. We don't hear the "in the back of the cabinet, you'll find its home" in the chorus before that, so that's my guess. After Kungan chopped off his benis, he stuffed it into the cabinet in the bathroom.
I'm still not sure who's lying to Kungan though (or what about), or who the "she" is in this song (common sense says Tallah, but maybe it's Kungan's feminine side coming into play as another character?)
That snare sound!!! Getting early Slipknot vibes from it, I love it. Another killer tune from the boys in Tallah!
Woah!!! This band brings back straight to the 90s era of nu-metal! What a nice discovery i just did.
Oh, you're gonna love them. This band's EP was some of the best shit that's been released recently. Unfortunately, they've taken it off of YT because they're putting the EP songs on this coming debut to complete the story.
@@maaax2105 We did not forget ;)
A little bit of everything good blended, shredded and covered in melted cheese.

not sure why but Justin's nails remind me really heavily of the Witch from the Left 4 Dead games. and i adore it.
God damn it's a real treat when Justin brings out some new vocals and tones. YEAaAaAH
I cant seem to get tired of this song its so good

Really happy to see these guys gaining some traction, met them at one of their shows in the midwest a little while back and they put on an amazing show, really down-to-earth generally nice guys. I can't wait to hear the rest of Matriphagy!
So glad I came across an ad for them I’ve listened to some songs and already love this group! Their music style is amazing 😩
I love all of the delay and shit they put on Justin’s vocals. The chorus is fire.
This was great, can't wait to hear more! I love the the clean and heavy vocals. Video is old school as well, which is great. I'm getting a strong 90's vibe from this (which I'm definitely on board with).

Really looking forward to more songs from you guys :)
Tallah is so underground that they forgot theyre a band
This is SO FUCKING GOOD. The subtleties and attention to details really show through and add that much more to an already brilliantly executed vision. I am so hyped for the album. Great job guys thank you!
Honestly it sounds really good, great mix great EQ, great mastering, the drum track mastering sounds excellent. The only criticism I’d say is I keep waiting for the tonality of the singer to come thru, it’s like there and present, but it doesn’t come to an actual pitch or harmony at any specific point. Sounds great though, nice heavy metal body presence, kind of like NIN and Slipnot have a relative cousin with Tool.
It sounds like it was specifically mixed to sound like early 90s Korn/Slipknot while keeping it fresh. It leaves room for a follow-up album to soar into headliner status
FRANKLY PUT They also said this is the “softest” song on the album too, rest are gonna be heavy more towards hardcore/deathcore.
This is amazing
Haven’t clicked on an Earache video in a long time. Was actually scrolling through to see if there was anything worth listening to, and keep me subscribed to the channel. Clicked on this video on a whim AND BOY AM I GLAD THAT I DID!!! This shit smacks. It’s heavy, artistically impressive, and there’s a fucking guitar solo?!? These guys are definitely a cut or two above your average metal band, can’t wait to listen to more.
We love your positivity and support! Definitely hope you stick around and check out our new album, coming OCTOBER 2ND, 2020!!
