I have the Tusk rack on mine and have a 34L expandable motorcycle bag attached to it and carry 2 1L Trangia fuel bottles, there great for a little needed extra fuel if your not sure to make it to a gas station. They don't leak and easy to pour fuel without a mess. I was thinking of a bigger tank but like my stock tank, not sure if the cost and not as nice looking tank is worth it. I usually gauge my trips so I know how much fuel I need. You can easily carry a 1 gallon fuel can in that bag too, the small square shaped ones work well, but do leak from time to time. Take care👍

They make a cylindrical fuel bottle and case that straps to the side that could save you from walking if you don't want to change the tank out. I think they're on Amazon

Rotopax (1 gallon) + mount + rear rack. Another option: Primus fuel bottle (gets you 28 more MILES). I have no idea what a kilometer is or how many there are or why people use that measurement. ; ) Most of us install Clarke tanks, but they are not a perfect match and have a blemish issue. Then there's the issue of whether a plastic tank is street legal in this or that place. In the end, you are right to be annoyed over the issue.

personal experience on my 01 is that the full tank is good to about 193 km. I hit reserve at about 110km. plus an additional 8ish liters on the back in a chinese knockoff rotopax for the REALLY long stretches between fuel.I miss my T-Dub... @@westcoastdualsportadvent-cj5qn Where I ride, that extra weight would create problems. On a great number of my rides, I never get out of second gear. I use to have a Honda Goldwing, and I got really tired of pavement riding. There are way too many IDIOTS on the road that got their driver's license out of a cereal box. I much prefer to be out in the middle of nowhere just enjoying the scenery and an occasional challenge.

I love my TW, but I can't imagine touring on it. My comfortable speed on the hi way is 45 MPH. Sure it will go faster if you twist its tail, but I don't like hearing my baby just screaming away. I am in the USA, and I actually hate putting in that "Ethanol" CRAP in any of my carbureted engines, so I use non-ethanol fuel. I have a 25 gallon pumper tank in my shop for my lawn mowers, and gas powered toys. Ethanol-free fuel is not available everywhere, so at times I will need to fill my tank with the crap fuel, but not very often. Still, I don't ride for long distances on the pavement. I am fortunate that I live in Idaho that has lots of ATV trails and single tracks. If I am going to ride a trail that is 150 miles away, I will trailer it to that location.
I use to ride my XT600 on old roads and 2 tracks in Nevada, and southeastern Cali, those places had very few single tracks. My Wife made me a small set of tank bags that would hold 2 quarts of gas that laid on my fuel tank with a hole in the center that fit over my fuel tank cap. I had a usable range of 200 miles without using the extra fuel.

@BuilderofRat I recently just found out that even premium gas here in Canada contains ethanol. Not too happy about that. I live on Vancouver Island, so there's lots of places to explore, unfortunately most of the back country is gated by the logging company. There's 2 highways running the length of the island. The inland, which is a 4 lane highway with max speed of 110kph and the old Island highway that runs along the ocean, and it's 80kph max. That's the highway I take.
