Hey guys! I am back from Scotland! Now it is time to post an INSANE amount of advent calendar videos! Today we have the Benefit Advent Calendar for 2022 and unfortunately I think this is going to be the last year I purchase this calendar. I think if you compare last years unboxing to this one you will see why! Lets just say Sephoras repeats dont hold a candle to this one! I understand that these are some of their best sellers but having at least one or two different products to mix it up a bit would have been nice!

About magnets and mascara....I guess most people don't know that the main pigment used in black cosmetics is actually iron oxide. Because it contains a lot of iron, it is attracted to magnets. The theory of a magnet in the mascara wand is that as you brush on the mascara in an upward direction, the pigments are attracted to the wand and it encourages your lashes to curl.

I have worked for Benefit Cosmetics off and on for about 15 years, and I can tell you why they don’t make eyeshadows. They didn’t sell well. They used to have them, and also a full lipstick line, but they didn’t sell well enough to keep them. They tried multiple formulations, but none did well. They even got rid of their foundations because they never sold. So, they decided to stick with what did well for them, and just expanded the color ranges.
I so miss the Oxygen Wow foundation 😢
I have a benefit eyeshadow palette and it's probably older than dirt and needs to be thrown away because I got it from my mombut I still use it from time to time. It's just kinda mid. In fact the only reason why I even still use it is because it has Galifornia in it and that's the last one I have. I'm kinda sad they discontinued that blush, the "dupe" isn't the same.
@@lmao2703 haha! I still have my benefit Dr. Feelgood balm (basically primer before primer was a thing) from 2003 😆 I'm definitely a bit of a makeup hoarder and I love the packaging. I also remember having the original Bad Gal chubby eyeliner and the boi-ing concealer in the pot you had to unscrew to open, lol.
I have the cutest little box set I got in 2004 (I think) - it's a little black hand mirror, with a pressed powder compact on the back, and a lipstick in the handle. It's meant for your evening bag, and it's one of my favorite things, in the cutest box ever, and that's the kind of thing I miss from benefit. They had that old fashioned vibe. But the thing I miss most of all is Maybe Baby. I loved it so much. You know they're charging $90 or $100 for half a bottle on Mercari. 😭

I feel like Benefit should do small batch advent calendars sorted by brow color, since their best-selling products are for brows. I realize it’s not as cost-effective as having one calendar, but I would probably buy one if I knew I was getting my shade in a lot of the products. Plus I have dyed red hair so use auburn so my brows match, so the “neutral” shade doesn’t really work for me
They sell these in Boots in the UK, usually a box or a cardboard cracker. Just pick your shade and all items in the cracker are that shade.
I saw a video today of a family opening the 1st door of their advent calendars. Each person had their own different calendar and one of the daughters had a Sephora advent calendar. I feel bad for her when she has the worst calendar of her family.

It's definitely a decent advent calendar, but not worthwhile to buy every year unless you use a bunch of these products regularly. That's why I like the calendars that have a mix of brands (like Glossy Box and Look Fantastic) - there's always so much more variety in them!
With the Brow Pencils, you get the same amount of product as the full size but when you buy them separately you get a spoolie on the end. That’s the only difference.

According to ulta and Sephora the mini only has half the amount of product. Full size has .002 for $25 and mini has .001 for $15.

have to say the packaging was super cute and I really like the numbers in order instead of scrambled. Given that there were no stickers/ key chains/bookmarks, I'd say this one is decent.
I agree! Unfortunately it is the exact same products as last year, literally every single one without out any variation. So I dont think I will be purchasing another sadly
I think it would be good for someone who has never used Benefit before. But I can see why you wouldn't want to keep buying them.

I'm pretty pale, and I LOVE the dandelion blush!! I'm heavy-handed with my blush, so Dandelion is the way to go for me, because it's not too pigmented. They call it a "brightening powder," but I use it as a blush!💕

I love benefit. Once I had a bad day and went to benefit. They did my makeup and sold me $500 in product. I instantly felt better. Yes, they sell more products.

Benefit sold a sampler of trial sized blushes and bronzers one year, so I got to try most of them. They're all either really pale or not very pigmented, but a lot of them did have a scent.

I'm absolutely fully enjoying every single advent calendar unboxing and I'm looking forward to watching the 25+ unboxings this holiday season!
You got lucky with the weather for your visit: it has been unseasonably mild here right up until December 6th when it took a real turn for the cold. Fortunately it’s still mostly dry and fairly sunny where I am in the Stirling area but the forecast is predicting some very cold days to come with temperatures around -10C (14F).

So, aside from the advent calendar... I must say that your story about the ski lift made me smile. Not because I thought it funny, but because it brought forth a memory of my mother who passed 6 years ago. I was the person who caused her to get stuck on the ski lift. And NO, I don't know why, but you are NOT allowed to just ride around and back down. The lift we were on was really high in the air, with my poor mom stuck waaay up there. The made her pop off her ski's and then turn around and slide off the seat ..... onto a trampoline type of thing. She never went skiing again.... and was mad at me for it for a long time. But the memory made me smile. Thank you for inspiring it. Be blessed and I am hopeful that you will encounter an amazing advent calendar this year!

This series has taught me that I must have been opening them wrong cause I grew up opening them like a countdown so we would start at the biggest number lol
I mean that's totally fine too! I personally don't really think it matters if you countdown or count up.

The Dandelion can be a blush for a fair skin (like me) or a brightning finishing powder for darker skin tones.
Welcome back! I hope ye had a great time in Scotland. I think this calendar is only really suitable for loyal benefit fans or a newbie to the brand. Otherwise it's a very boring calendar, especially to get it every year. I think you're right to leave it off next year's list (unless you forget and purchase it in mad advent panic😜)
i love watching alexandria especially during advent calendar season she is the sc queen for sure but the best part of these for me this year has been puppy advent
my absolute favorite mascara is the roller lash. i feel it’s the only one that separates and lengthens my lashes lol! also, i absolutely love their dandelion blush! i am light tan skinned and it shows up on my cheeks!☺️

I bought this calendar last year and thought I might just share a perspective of someone who really enjoy it (and would repurchase, even though it's the same).
You should realistically change your mascara every 3-6 months and I prefer travel sized ones because then I'm not throwing half of it away (so this is like a year supply for me)! And since I do my makeup on the go a lot, this just makes sense for me.

I don’t think this is the worst advent by far, only because everything in it is a staple for a lot of people. Benefit precisely brow and brow gel are my staple. As well as a lot of their blushes, cookie highlighter and hula bronzer.
OMG, I watched the Kylie unboxing yesterday, and today I was thinking right before I started this video that I was still salty about yesterday's. Then you said it! lol. The magnetic mascara there is a magnet in the wand and magnetic particles in the solution so when you apply it, the mascara is supposed to pull through all the way past the tips of your eyelashes to make them thicker longer looking. Great video's! Thank you! I have been mesmerized by the Advent makeup calendars since last year, and it is so much fun to watch you open them... especially the expensive ones that I could never afford!
That’s my everyday blush, and I love it. I’m definitely pale, red head, green eyes, and it shows up on me…but I have to build it up a couple of layers. It’s pretty much the only blush I can wear that doesn’t make me look like a clown.

Alexandria, don't feel bad about your ski lift experience.....my niece managed to fall off , landed in a tree, broke her arm and had to be rescued 😢 I personally stay in the hotel hot tub where I know I'm safe.
Also with drawing on eyebrows, I also have feathery brows in the inner corner space with the same problem. So what I do is draw a thick line on the bottom and smudge upward with my finger and it looks really nice and natural and not blocky
OMG! I do the same thing to pencils! I hiss at them until they soften up! 😂😂 *whew* So glad I'm not the only one, lol
