How do you measure ankle range of motion with a Goniometer?

    What if patient cannot get to 90°. How would you then use the base of the foot method

      Their ROM would be recorded from the 90deg goniometer to their limit (slightly plantarflexed). The ROM would be a negative number e.g. -10 deg of dorsiflexion
      If the patient cannot get to the 90deg starting point when measuring dorsiflexion, you cannot use the base of the 5th.

    Even the knee is flexed with the dorsiflexion. Calf tightness is a possibility.
