Nice information on this diagnostic tool Chris ! Even though its now 3 years after you posted I went to Auto Zone & bought the 3040E Scan Tool because I didn't want to wait for Amazon. I have a 2016 Mazda MX-5 & put 1/2 can of Sea Foam in the tank soon after the check engine light is on. So a I want to see if that was really the cause with this tool.

I bought the 3040E doesn't come with the USB cord, Innova wants like 15.00 for it. I thought you couldn't start engine until you tell the device koer (key on engine running ) Difference in 3040 E and 3040 D??
I have the innova 3040 c where can I get direction as my friend gave it to me after his dad die my friend lease car every 3 years so he doesn't meed it it looks almost the same as yours

I haven't tried to erase codes so I'm not sure if it does. The corrections I made to the vehicles reset the lights automatically. I also haven't used this tool in several months since I replaced that wretched car so I can't confirm if it can or can't at this time.

Ralph Reyes, for the most part, yes. If the engine light is on this will tell you the code that triggered it.

Do you stand by your statement that the 3040D does not erase codes??

Oceanic Flight, yes. This car had a good bit a work done on it.

@@DIYwithChris 3040 E does, hit red button. Only do this if sure. ..my understanding is it saves graphs too that could be useful to a mechanic, later.
