SICILIANO from 2nd Sonata for Harpsichord & Flute, J.S. Bach BWV 1031

  • This expressive tune suits the accordion very well. It's amazing how many pretty songs Bach wrote & that was over 300 years ago. A Siciliano is loosely associated with Sicily, evoking a pastoral mood, and is often characterized by dotted rhythms in a slow 6/8 or 12/8 time. My arrangement sounds like 2 flutes for the right hand and a Baroque organ in the left. For the accordionists, notice that I had to sometimes use the left hand thumb to reach some of the larger intervals. It's unusual, but can be done.

    Trés beau !
    nb : l'usage du pouce main gauche est assez fréquent et même nécessaire aux basses chromatiques, selon la partition. Certains accordéonistes arrivent même à l'utiliser au delà de la 1ère rangée ....

    this is a 'free bass accordion, I think; the button side isn't playing chords, but single bass notes.
