Being a city slicker, I've completely taken for granted the wonderful milk I can purchase all packaged up. Wow - what a lot of work. Hats off to you dairy farmers!
And a lot of other people in this country take a lot of things for granted not knowing how much farmers across the country sacrifice everyday to do what they do to feed this country and rest of the world. I just wish a lot of the people would go spend some time on farms just too see what it takes to do all this. And yes I to have done this work in the past and know the sacrifices
Your farm is very efficiently run, the family are so lucky to have you control so much of it. I've been where you are as a young man, I'm now almost 77 yrs old. I still miss doing all that and am reliving my early life as I watch you go about your farm. May God Bless you richly for all you do.
Hands down best farming videos on you tube!! You really show the work and time involved in running a successful dairy operation. Thanks for allowing us to watch you do what you obviously love to do!!
I grew up on a dairy farm. My dad always grained the cows while they milked them. He only milked 75 head back in the 60’s. It was a chore. He never had much help. You have a very impressive operation.
Great video and wish I was milking again. I know what you mean about it being repetitive, but apart from the milk cheque at the end of each month. It's great seeing cows happy and content and wanting to drop their milk for you. A good point you made in that you only treat cows with antibiotics, when the animal has an infection. Or at drying off times, for the animals own protection. The public who whinge about antibiotic use in farming. I'd like to see if they refuse the use for their children if they are poorly!
I found your channel yesterday afternoon and I’m slowly making my way through all of your videos (not in order but still) and I have to say I am LOVING them. Family farms are such a staple that we need to preserve, keep on doing what you do!
Eric nice milking video and showing what you do during the the milking process and it seems you are very busy and tell Cass Happy Birthday and thank her for her service.
Thank you so much for the videos. It is nice to see the farm, we are beef Farmers have around hundred and ten head .I helped a friend years and years ago on his dairy farm love the smell miss that a lot anyway thanks for keeping a very clean mouth and not cussing all the time like some of the other people's videos are, that is very refreshing thanks again and keep the videos coming if it all possible make them a little longer LOL
I would like to make the same comment as well but I saw this one so I'll just jump on the back of it LOL. it's quite neat the gate that goes across the feed Alley between the two halves of the barn. could you do a quick video sometime just describing how it works, like are there multiple motors driving both halves or are they connected somehow through some linkage of some sort and how the farm came to a decision with that design.
It’s such an eye opener to how different countries milk cows and care for them coming from New Zealand where all our cows r outside 24/7 besides coming in for milking it’s so different to what I do on a day to day basis on my dairy farm love the video tho
Kaitlin Francis well some is America are different. My neighbors cows stay out all day and come in to be milked. It just depends on how the farmer prefers to do it.
Its more of a climate issue. In NZ and here in Ireland the mild weather grows grass most of the year so cows stay outdoors and feed themselves. Hot or cold climate farmers cant do it like us@@horsegirl3191
Liked this. I'm 62 and come from a long line of dairy farmers and I do mean long. Been farming here in upstate New York since the 1600s and in England before that. Unfortunately, most of my uncles sold out and went to work for GE but the one that didn't I spent the summer I was 12 on his farm and it's one of my fondest childhood memories. He grew his own grain too! Especially since I got to see a calf born. Hard to believe that was half a century ago! Been missing the farm lately. Was good to see one and see how things have changed since I was last on the family farm. Totally subbed.
What a smooth clean operation you have!! I loved farm work Just ❤️your videos. It seems with modern technology there should be a way to have water/ peroxide shoot up from the floor to clean the cows off. Great job
Thanks you for sharing and really appreciated your hard work I don't realize there's so much labor intensive the whole process is just for milk I'll never take milk for granted any more

A dairy, the last dairy, in Hawaii, just closed down, unfortunately. I got 3 cows for me from that dairy. They are such nice cows. I love them. You got a nice system. I heard you say you grow the feed for them. That's awesome. Like the one in Hawaii, they grew the feed for the cows, and they made the manure into bedding and fertilizer. They were more outdoors, I guess because it's nice weather in Hawaii.
👍👍I remember visiting my mates uncle dairy farm.all the milk ended up in this big stainless steel vat with paddles inside as it was agitated.their was a little tap and next to this was glasses and choc.straw.and vanilla flavoured nestle quick. Oh yes the taste of pure fresh milk straight from the cow in a glass with chocolate flavoured quick !!!!! IT WAS NATURES NECTER 😊😊🐄🐄🥛🥛🥛🥛🥛
THANKS for another great video! You do an excellent job of narrating all the portions of the milking process makes it very interesting and educational, never boring! And it's great that you keep your 10th generation going with your Dad!!!
Hi 10th generation. I like your work effort. You are young and willing to put in all that long tiring work for your family business. I have wondered for a long time what it would be like to have cows and how the milking process goes. I enjoyed your video and I want to watch more videos about your cows!!!!!
This was a awesome video thank you for sharing.i have a question. Your special cows on antibiotics. I understand that can't sell..are yu able to drink it
I always hear bad things about dairy farms, but when I looked up the regulations of cow treatment in Canada, it gave me hope that most dairy farms do treat their cows nicely. One of the common things I hear online about dairy farming is that the calves don't get enough nutrition because they don't get enough milk. From what I learned through some of your videos, the calves are getting milk. I am glad. I may not drink cows milk (upsets my stomach), I do use it in cooking and I eat a lot of cheese. Keep up the great work :)
awesome video. miss my days milking. we used to wear yachting boots in the parlour and the barn, keep you feet happy makes for a better day. Helly Hanson was the brand back then with flat soles but when I checked they don't have them listed but there are others out there.

Thanks
I have a question(s): What do you use the milk from the red-banded, ill cows for; is it suitable for feeding bottles to your calves?? Is is pumped to a separate tank or do you take the milk the old-fashioned, manual way? Thank you. Love all your videos; I appreciate all the effort you put into them and I cannot stop watching them. I know right considering they don't make alot of money from milk either, well at least they don't here in the uk.
MAVERICK 42 is the same everywhere...
@@cowboyupnow63 Farming is the most important job there is. Without it, we starve. People should appreciate farmers more.
I'm watching this video while I eat breakfast before I go milk my own herd.
I've watched thousands of farm related videos, this is by far right at the top of the list. 👍
Wow, that is quite a compliment. Thank you!
Yep me too. This kid knows his stuff and is doing a job job showing the work life on a dairy farm.
Something I notice is your cows never seem to moo. That generally means they are 😊. Great job. You should be proud.
@Jerry Rawlings could you explain that to me, i dont understand how you modify a cows moo ?
Quiet cows are happy content cows.
160 lbs. a day! Wow! My uncles' were happy when one cow hit 130 lbs. Very nice cows you have.
This country could use more people like you. Great hard work for everyone to see

Thank you

Good to show my 7 year old daughter a nice young man, working hard and treating his animals with kindness
Enjoying your videos. Brings me back to my farm days in Bethlehem CT. Over 50 years ago. You do a great job. Thanks for sharing.🇺🇸🐢🐄
Way to go!!!! Your family is blessed. An awesome son and a daughter on missionary work ... God bless!!!
I have a new appreciation of the dairy farmer and will never look at a gallon of milk the same way again. Keep up the great work.
Your videos are very addictive to watch for us city folk, I’ll live vicariously through your vlogs. Keep up the great content..
I work on a small dairy farm and i love it so much. I enjoy being around the cows and milking

I enjoy milking time. I work for a dairy in Somerset county, Pennsylvania. We milk 400 cows in a parlor similar to your but holds 25 on each side.
How long does it take to milk them ?

160 lbs.? Which is about 15-16 gallons? I can see that their udders are huge but that's a lot of milk from one cow.
a day they milk probably 3 times a day
Isaiah Fiedler it is 2 times a day
Brock Shields it doesn’t matter on the size of their milk bags it is the milk vein that can be big
Oh ok at our farm we milk 3 times a day but have 400 cows

I just started helping at a dairy farm do you got like any tips to help
Enjoyed this video. When you placed the milkers on the cows, I noticed each individual milker tube had 2 hoses. Can you explain?
There is a degree of variation between setups, but here is a simple breakdown. The milk machines use two things to milk cows: vacuum (sucking) and pulsation (squeezing). The larger hoses on the bottoms of the tubes are for milk collection (sucking), the smaller hoses on the sides of the tubes are for pulsation (squeezing). If you have any other questions I'm happy to answer them.

?
