@@hitbox2381 The vita is better and easier in this case. Switch is only easier because you can find it easily on amazon as well. But you need to do a lot of trimming if you want to make it low profile. Vita is close already and you can skip the full trim if you want and be ok.
@@hitbox2381 Sorry I thought you meant for the current video. I still think a ps vita 2000 thumbstick might be still better but I will find out when I make the video : ) Once I am done making the basics, I will work on the more "advanced" stuff like analog upgrade.
So crazy how not even 5 minutes ago I literally just added the theme from another to my psp in the music and I see your profile picture 😂that's awesome
I would love to see an actual analogue stick replacement for the PSP. I know there is the Vita to PSP mod but unfortunately that mod does not have a way for you to mount the stick. So this is really the only way to improve the analogue stick for the PSP.
Great video I might be doing the vita thumbstick , have you ever thought of doing the dual thumbstick mod on the psp? It would be awesome if you did a tutorial for installing a second thumbstick on the right side of the psp
Yep, I have and its all planned for future videos You can watch my Project Smokey Introduction, there you will find all the planned modding tutorials : ) I have several ideas / implementations for the dual stick mod.
A little hack for most who want to centre it right first time, cut the stick half way down and drill 3mm in in the centre of the shaft of the analogue stick, file to a fine point, means it'll remain centred and not move while drying
when i did this i used a gamecube stick and, to stop my finger hitting it when using the dpad, i offset the analog top downwards when i glued it to the bottom. it feels great 👍
Use a Pokeball + stick for the NSwitch stick instead, they're smaller than the regular one and someone somehow managed to get the whole stick itself inside a PSP.
Would you recommend using the Ps Vita as your primary "all conditons" option, but have a change out Xbox One unit for racing games and other games that don't rely on the d-pad input? The pad for the Xbox One is the best in isolation, though its size does limit it in overall application. The changeout unit could then sit prouder than your test unit, depending on the overall ergonomics. Do enjoy my PSP, especially after digging it out of storage recently and giving it a birthday, but do remember issues holding it for long sessions, with my right pinky finger suffering most. I'm in the process of making a custom grip as the options on the market currently are rubbish and can't find the one with the swing out grips for sale.

If you can squash in a pi pico to have a second stick that has a three-way mode switch mapping to the action buttons, dpad or the other stick... then I'd be super impressed.
Hey, I bought the PS Vita stick through the link you shared in the description. It arrived today and I'm finding the size irregular, it looks like it's the same size or even smaller than the top of the PSP stick. Would you have any PS vita measurements for comparison?
Just did some measurements for you. It's 12mm wide and around 3 mm thick (couldn't get correct thickness measurement) It should be around the same size as the psp stick
I found one psv 2000 stick that looks awkward it's with the whole assembly ribbon and all, it looks used and looks weird. Measures 11.6mm wide. I would open a dispute and get a refund.
The Gameplay / Thumbnail is a 2000 Transparent, Original Healthy 2000 Screen. The 2000 is my favorite in terms of balance out of all the models released.
I'm actually looking to see if it's possible to put Switch sticks (or maybe even hall sensor ones from Gulikit) in an actual Vita, but I'm really hesitant to take apart my pristine Vita. Maybe I'll see if I can find a beaten up one :)
Ali Express, but careful with these swaps, I have a video for the 1000, but 2000 and 3000 I have to still make it, as they have their own issues you need to watch out for during reassembly
@@TotalKommando yeah I have the 2000 model and it suffers from stick drift. It's so bad it became unplayable for most games. So I'm going to Case swap and change the joystick aswell as install this cool mod u did.
But ty for the warning, I will probably watch ur vid for the 1k Model as well, since u warned me about potential difficulties I'm probably unaware since it's my first time digging into something like this.
Stick drift can be because of poor contact between the stick and motherboard and the jelly bridge, and the cheap AliExpress replacements are not as smooth as the original one, so during the swap it may fix it self or stay the same. Im experimenting atm with soldering the contacts directly with wire, to see if one can fully eliminate it on any shell
Have you heard about stick calibration on PSP Do it on System Information screen. Just Google it It sounds doubtfull, but many people says it works Like PS2 Dual shock calibration With some light drift problems
Aliexpress, the shells come and go, some colors go out of stock for years and randomly apears years later. 2000 shells are not perfect buy I will have a shell swap video for the 2000 and tall about all the things you may deal with during the process
The 1000 model stick is not compatible with the 2000/3000 sticks as its much shorter, so i would recommend ordering a spare slim (2000/3000) stick when you order the vita replacement. Once the parts arrive, you chop the bottom of the spare stick to make it easily removable like the 1000 stick, and you know the rest from the video.
I think the go is doable, I will brainstorm some ideas and eventually make a video. It needs to be cost effective and easy to maintain. Im thinking Sanding the top like before and applying a thin layer of black T7000 glue to use as grip
I looked everywhere, they only come with the full shell, maybe in the future would see them sold separately but tbh after comparing it to the vita stick mod, the vita thumbstick upgrade is still way better.
