As always, Dad to the rescue. Martin is the man of the hour. Fortunately, I inherited the "fix-it" gene and can fix almost anything. Congratulations on refurbishing your bunk heater. You should feel very proud of yourself! Take care and drive carefully Trucker Josh.
Hi Trucker Josh glad you had the time to get the brand new Bunk heater in Old Blue great video as always sending prayers for Britt on her testing for Baby #2god bless you both and have a great weekend 😊
It probably took awhile to start the first time because it had to get the fuel back up there. Becoming more of a DAD every day "Mr. Fix it" with a Martin assist. Yes please share the info on the new dash cam, I need a new one bad. Stay safe and for sure you'll stay warm.
The camera thats supposed to be facing the driver is there to protect you incase, after you've had an accident, someone says you were busy on your phone or otherwise distracted. You can prove you were focused and paying attention and protect yourself from bs.
Hey Josh I hear ya, I’m outta Tennessee. Dad and I deliver boats to Western Canada and going through national Park the salt-sand like stuff stick to our truck and although we get a truck wash every week, it’s very difficult to get it out of our frame rails. We deliver Mastercraft boats to Kelowna, Edmonton, Chilliwack, and other Canadian cities and provinces.
I had faith in you fixing it Josh well done I had a webasto heater in my Pete when I was on the road pretty similar to what you got bravo 👍✌️ PS the mattress almost won😂
Good job bud!! Our s-bar just went. Even though Dad and I never use ours because we are a team I think the fact we don’t use it as much it doesn’t heat up as needed. It may get clogged.
Love your videos brother. I am a company driver for giant tiger I drive from new Brunswick to Quebec and Ontario. Driving is a Fantastic career! Thank you for the videos.
i have 4 friends, 3 that have an RV and one that drives a straight truck . they all get them serviced - cleaned once a year and they turn them on full blast for 15 minutes once a month even in the summer time
I think I read it's a factory recommendation. Mine is hooked up to the engine (regular car) so it's a benefit even during the summer. Also vents the hot interior a tiny bit when the hvac is running
Just so you know…there is a fuel filter that you might want to replace before every winter as well. I run mine every month for about 30 minutes. Also in very cold weather it’s also good to run it to get some anti-gel through it. That can also cause the smoke, because it’s trying to burn that left over fuel first. Just what I’ve learned over the years, having one for 5 years. Take Care enjoy your videos, the home ones with your family as well.
As a youth l worked at a plant nursery here in Memphis, Tn. We had a mid 80’s F350 dump truck. I knew next to nothing about diesel trucks. In colder weather I was instructed to spray some ether fluid in the air box to start the truck. I did so faithfully not knowing how damaging it could be. I would never do that to any truck I owned, but Atleast I learned not to do that on someone else’s truck!
In the rebuild stuff there was a Black knobby thing...its to use to pull the screen.....Again, from watching the South Georgia Trucker........I hope I heard him right.........anyway.........just me, old lady who loves you Truckers.
Yeah I was just Jeff lucky for you. This February was rather warm because maybe next February won’t be so if this was the time where your bunk heater need to be cleaned out and picked a good time, do you need it?
I wonder how much this would cost to replace this webasto thingy, my parents now have one in their new Van RV (Class B 20" based on Chevy Express 2500 from 2009) and it sometimes refuse to blow hot air, sometimes it takes 10-12 times before it starts blowing hot air in their cab and sometimes, its just cold icy air and we have to turn it off, then try again to turn it on, my guess is the pilot light doesn't work or doesn't turn the heater properly, not ideal during our winter, the only thing I know for sure about it, is its powered by the Van fuel (gaz so not diesel), if the fuel tank goes under 10% it stops it automatically. We are planing a replace of it, but maybe something can be done for less.
I have a Chinese diesel heater that's basically the same as your s bar. Obviously it's a lower quality but with maintenance they can last just as well. I paid $129 CDN for it off Amazon
Really great vlog Josh, really enjoyed it. I love when you have the time to go deep into your day! I’d think a yearly clean out given how sooty diesel is would be a good idea Lots of love to you, Britt, Theo and the puppies
put a Chinese heater in my w900l 2 years ago, $120. US , been working great. It's an 8000 btu, have to crack window or it gets too hot even on low. I figger for the price I could buy 6 of these for the price of 1 like you got. Something to keep in the back of your mind if that one goes fubar on you. just a thought
Great job Josh, that is quite an accomplishment. Whenever you attempt an unfamiliar project it can be very taxing. But you did it! And how wonderful you were able to enjoy time with your dad and experience his expertise. I'm sure it made him proud to help you too. At the end I was wondering for a minute if you were going to be a permanent fixture with your truck bed. LOL. Hope your new trucking week is a safe one. I'll be thinking of your safety and Britt's procedures.❤
Also to be honest it does get sooted pretty good from what you showed and with what you said that you didnt look at it until now. I feel like yearly maintenance is probably a good thing in that regard though making it a bit more convenient to get to would be nicer for you but i feel like you probably would be able to get a frame that pivots up from the back so the hinge point would be in the back and youd tilt it up from the front. My dad had a 92 Fld that had it and all this other trucks Sterling, Columbia, Cascadia. Im surprised your Kenny doesnt. I feel like if you just got a frame from a junk yard or something second hand youd be able to adapt it to your truck with some effort. Maybe move stuff around down there to make the space more efficient. I know what i said might be a bit more expensive but projects are never in budget 😂 But projects that make sense are always worth it. U just need to see the value in it. I feel like i definitely would tackle the bed frame the next time you want to maintain the bunk heater. I mean on paper its anchoring the hinge on the back of the cab there to something strong or making the cab strong for it. And then either making two boxes under the foot and head for the frame to sit on or making a wall with some dividers. Then top it with your mattress. However also making it so that you can flip up, that mattress needs room before touching the back wall of the cab as you tilt up to your desired height. Easy on paper for sure bit of a labour of love in real life. I would do it
Great rebuild you’ll be toasty while sleeping, little trick during summer months start your bunk heater once every couple weeks It circulates fresh fuel through the line and prevents older fuel from gumming up that small filter 4:02 Another great video thanks Ron
Josh, I have owned a fuel oil heater for my home and in the fall every year I clean the heater and replace the nossel last year after year. The bunk diesel heater works the same way and needs the same maintenance maintenance
Good to see you got bunk heater going having Cummins engine on high idle for long periods will not damage the engine and you run for 10 hrs only use bout 10 litres of diesel
Awesome Josh I'm so Glad to see that you were up to the Challange of Fixing it Yourself & Yes that Smile on your Face said it all 7th Heaven eh. & Yes My Advice to you would be to service it once a Year before Winter as you said & Figured out
South Georgia Trucker just fixed his, looks same as yours. He had issue with a hole or separation on the exhaust pipe. did a Jerry Rig to make it till he can replace the exhaust tube. Something about running it on high to burn out the soot?.........anyway.....thanks
So many other RUclipsrs struggle with getting their content out once a week and they can always complain how hard it is to edit will you freaking throw one out every single day maybe you should become my editing professor
Great video, very impressed with your skills. Now you're close to being a Journeyman Bunk Heater Rebuilder. Sorry, but I had to laugh when you were throwing that mattress back in place. I realize those cabs are not built like motel rooms.
South Georgia hotshot just rebuilt his too while he was at a truckstop it was all gunked up and full of soot and carbon he had to replace the screen cause it was clogged up
Have you considered an APU. That would not only heat your truck in the winter, it also would give you AC in the summer, as well as keeping your engine warm and your batteries charged. Just asking?
I know it's been a minute since ya been too your dad's shop but when he isn't out rolling his 18 but doesn't your dad keep the Freightshaker at his shop or the yard?

I’m very impressed with your rebuild. You did the work without constant looking at the instructions like I would have done. Awesome!
You are better at fixing things than you give yourself credit for. Good job!
yay fixed. Celebrate by going to Tims.
Thanks Josh’s Dad!
That was so well done. Buckets full of fun. Good Lad. Thanks for sharing.

Way to go Josh!
Great job, Josh! Yes, it's best to clean these heaters once a year. I know them from the boat. It helps the life span.
The camera thats supposed to be facing the driver is there to protect you incase, after you've had an accident, someone says you were busy on your phone or otherwise distracted. You can prove you were focused and paying attention and protect yourself from bs.
Starting it during Summer a few times really helps too.🤟
Like Clint would say "A man's got to know his limitations" when in doubt - call Dad!!

Love your videos brother. I am a company driver for giant tiger I drive from new Brunswick to Quebec and Ontario. Driving is a Fantastic career! Thank you for the videos.
Woot! Great job!
Best thing to do is run a 30 min cycle once a month in the summer on kerosene. Keeps that glow plug clean.
Hi Bro. Not only has theo got a great dad and grandpa he also has 2 great role model's to teach him everything he will ever need to know
South Georgia Hotshot just did the same rebuild on their heater
Thank God. Hopefully job complete ? But I do have to be honest you were a little clumbsie. Lol your still great . Thx
Great job on the rebuild. Saved 1200 plus taxes and install on a new one. Good job
Fifth wheel needs grease. Thanks Kevin

Job well done, proud of ya.
Great job on the heater rebuild.
Buy your self a good trouble light would help you
I was nervous watching you tighten the screws as it looked like it's made of aluminum, which is a soft metal and easy to strip out the threads.

I would do it for 2 consecutive years to see if it’s needed yearly, then maybe every other year.
Lol i always feel that rush of HECK YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH when it works. 🎉❤
You are the second u tuber that had to rebuild the bunk heater and its a T680 kenworth
South Georgia Trucker just fixed his, looks same as yours. He had issue with a hole or separation on the exhaust pipe. did a Jerry Rig to make it till he can replace the exhaust tube. Something about running it on high to burn out the soot?.........anyway.....thanks

Great video, very impressed with your skills. Now you're close to being a Journeyman Bunk Heater Rebuilder. Sorry, but I had to laugh when you were throwing that mattress back in place. I realize those cabs are not built like motel rooms.
Fifth wheel needs some "Bullshot" bad, Josh.
Keep up the great work love your videos thank you
start up is the hardest part of the engine running..........
South Georgia hotshot just rebuilt his too while he was at a truckstop it was all gunked up and full of soot and carbon he had to replace the screen cause it was clogged up
Hi Josh, greetings for you and your family from Dolores Hidalgo Guanajuato México, as always good video congratulations.
Shoul put some grease on that dry looking fifth wheel
Ck it for fuel leak underneath. Grease that 5th wheel! Haha
Chief mechanical engineer josh .👍🏻👍🏻

A wise man knows when to ask for help when your stuck with a problem you can't solve.
Your the boss Trucker Josh :)
Do you know anything about Bearcat TrunkTracker III police scanners..Thinking of something to buy with my tax return lol :D
i knew you can do it !
Amazon sells new ones wiring and everything you need for $250
Not the same. I've seen them
Have you considered an APU. That would not only heat your truck in the winter, it also would give you AC in the summer, as well as keeping your engine warm and your batteries charged. Just asking?
Was about to ask the same. Perhaps too much $$. Cabin heat and AC are nice, but a fully charged battery and no cold starts would do it for me.
Yes it's in the 2 year plan
It depends on how those plugs identify Josh!!🤣🤣
Yeah, that’s old when it falls on the floor and brakes and two pieces that’s all
Do you have a CO detector in your cab? I have one in my RV for my propane heater. Just in case...
Buen trabajo amigo saludos desde tu ciudad faborita chicago IL llo se que tienes sangre mexicana porque tu mamá nació en México

Josh, everyone’s favourite Mennonite handyman on RUclips!
Your 5th wheel needs grease
as you know to replace a turbo on its own it’s $5000
My wife "Come on we need to go to The grocery store now" me: "NO you have to wait, I need to watch this until the end to see If it works for Josh" 😄
😆 🤣
I know it's been a minute since ya been too your dad's shop but when he isn't out rolling his 18 but doesn't your dad keep the Freightshaker at his shop or the yard?
