His laning hero movement and harassment as a support was really impressive. Having watched all the videos in this series up to this point, it's incredible seeing his progress in mechanics and understanding. I hope he sticks with Dota and gets into the high MMR brackets eventually
Loreeee : The people of Ashkavor crowded around the temple square, eager to witness the ascension of their new guardian -- to stand near the man as he bound their souls to his own. But as his final brush strokes fell against the runestone, and the bond of a new Ascended One was forged, everyone -- even those who'd stayed in their homes -- could sense that something had gone terribly wrong. He knew the cause instantly. The droplets of ichor he'd procured to amplify the potency of his inkpots had instead contaminated them, and the power of the binding spell he'd cast now threatened to consume him. An inky corruption snaked upward from the runestone, along the handle of his brush, soon overtaking his hands. From there it spread quickly. Once it overcame his face and his mouth, he couldn't have screamed even if he'd wanted to. All of his life he'd calculated on how to attain ever greater powers than the limits presented by his teachers would allow--going so far as to break the sacred prohibition against augmenting the inks. Indeed, with the wellspring of the Ascended bond open to him, he felt a measure of power coursing into his soul like he'd never imagined. His greatest triumph was upon him, if he could only survive it. He drew deep from the power of the bond, pushing back against the corrupted ink flow. A great moan filled the air -- the collective cry of his people. Some swayed on their feet. The weakest collapsed. Many tried to run. And still deeper he pulled from their bloodline reservoir. But it wasn't enough to stop the ink tide. It was only when the breath trapped in his lungs began to fail him, and the inkpool darkness fully encased him, that he saw his way out. The bond he'd made with the Ashkavoran people -- his people -- meant to be drawn upon only in service of their protection... It flowed two ways. With a final surge of strength -- this time directed by more than just blind repulsion -- he pushed the ink torrent into the bond itself. Slowly, he felt the tide retreat... and heard the awful wails of his people as the corruption in turn rolled over them. When at last the ink relented, his eyes opened upon a world changed. The Ashkavoran people as he knew them were gone. Every last soul was transformed into terrifying shades of their former selves -- comprised no longer of blood and bone, only viscid, tainted ink.
This has been your best support match yet! You made very very few mistakes, am proud of you! Here's your prize: Random DOTA fact: long long time ago (when invoker had 20+ abilities), there was a hero called the gambler (he no longer exists in the game). This hero had abilities that revolved around his gold and his opponent's gold. For example, he would measure his gold against yours and deal damage to you (or himself) based on who has more gold/difference in gold between you. If I remember correctly, his ult dealt damage equal to his gold or portion of it, so you didn't buy items and instead just hoarded your gold to maximize your damage, but he also had a chance to lose his gold when using abilities. Hope you enjoyed this fact! GGWP
Apart from the obvious, you can see Grubby is loving Grimstroke's design, animations and skills. You can see the confidence just by the way he plays him :') Great game to watch - loved the synergy between Grim and Pudge in lane
man i still remember the announcement hype for grimstroke - the first (and currently only) Dota 2 Original to be released immediately after his reveal trailer speaking of, are you going to watch/react to the hero reveal trailers for the Dota 2 Originals? (Monkey King, Pangolier+Dark Willow, Grimstroke+Mars, Snapfire, Void Spirit & Marci)
I’m so glad these challenge videos are now a daily stuff. I stopped playing dota since 2014 and played Hots and WoW mostly but now returned to dota, huge thanks to you and your awesome coaching series. Big thanks to you from korea
Speaking of out-of-game features, can we appreciate reconnect system in Dota? In HOTS, you must download every action you missed. If your internet is slow, you might not even get back into the game
It's not just DoTA. Every other game I played just puts you back into the game. HoTS, for some reason, has to read all the actions as if it can figure out where you ought to be in the game by reviewing everything that happened before you reconnect. It was even worse before too
DotA's reconnect system is divine compared to HotS's. It's not even just the speed at which you reconnect, but it seems like the exact moment there is some sort of disruption in your connection, the AI immediately takes control and starts walking your hero back to your fountain.
@@weirdbabygames9905 It's because it's an offshoot of the SC2 engine, which doesn't actually support reconnecting. So they have to do a jank fix of downloading the replay essentially to sync you up with the gamestate.
@@Sigma6987 lol i used to play with somebody who lagged bad and it would be like 'user has left the match' ' user has rejoined the match' 'user has left the match' on repeat until the game was over
I really like Grimstroke, but he needs a very specific team line up to work well. For example, he needs a melee ally or opponents to fully utilize ink swell; he needs allies with unit targeting abilities to synergise with his ultimate and he needs to go against low attack speed heroes for his W skill to be effective in the early game. But also because some players don't understand how his ultimate works since they see him so infrequently. As a result his ultimate rarely gets used to the full potential and you're better off picking someone else.
Cut - three years later - an old new guy named Grubby at his first TI final - 20 Mio to grab - a thousand times his biggest WC3 win - 2 years later a TI doku and a protagonist on youtube reacting to his own TI experience.
Grubby gonna fall in love with collecting cosmetics because if you appreciate skill design, most of the immortal cosmetics would just blow you away. Grimstroke has some of the coolest cosmetics
Hey Grubby, just a small tip regarding wards, you want to put them on highground whenever you have a chance, like around 32 minute mark, putting it on top of stairs would still give you vision highground and lowground :)
Just wanna say that Pudge and Phantom Assassin look like the most counter-synergistic hero composition ever. Much of the trouble can be alleviated by proper communication, but PA kept jumping in and getting hooked by Pudge.
After 17 years of dota 1 and hon i sat down in dota 2 and only played grimstroke. Nothing is better than 2x 5 sec silence from a support. Silence is the most valueable thing.
Is there any way to turn up to the volume a bit on these uploads? I don't know if it's just me because I'm watching on my smart-tv youtube app or if it's indeed a little low, but for a normal volume I have to turn up so loud that the ads turns i to jump scares. That being said, high entertainmentvalue already just like I predicted, a huge jump in game-knowledge and we are just up to the letter G so far, thank you!!
welcome to dota on twitch, where people will tell you that you shouldve sticked even if stick is still 4 seconds on cooldown at that time, 100% of the time.
Like you Dota 2 game grubby very nice and entertaining to watch especially for first time playing it can't wait for invoker you will need a hell of a coach to teach you with that hero.
Ha glad you like him. Wish they had more skins for him cause he's super cool. My favourite and main pick that I normally play. Buying e-blade is a must with him
Hi grubby. been watching your wc3 videos for years. glad to see you play my favorite game aswell Hope we can see more content in the future Good luck and have a nice day
use smoke from mid game to end to get pick offs and after you can push or do boss. DONT go at boss if enemy team is alive and even more if u dont have wards/sentry. And last but not least is a team game learn to communicate with team
try to play kunkka without x on set up i played dota 2 from long ago with max 1-2 on kunkka ganking. its will give you sense about position so good. remember don't use x for setting try to predict the enemy pos

I stopped playing Dota 2 @ 5,600hrs mark, but watching you play and enjoying the game gave me strong itch to try it again.

dota2 client is one of my favorites of any game. Yes it has issues but the overall cohesion and user-friendliness of all the features is very nice.

my favorite Grim partner is CK, Grim E -> Rift + Bolt -> Grim E stun is brutal in lane

Sponsored by GGBet?
Grimstroke is one of my go to pos 5 heroes. I just love how Grubby used him so effectively considering its his first time playing the hero.
When you get to Oracle , I am sure you're gonna be blown away.
watch TI 9 grand finals to see Grimstroke in the beautifull "run at them relentlessly" strat
Grubby gonna fall in love with collecting cosmetics because if you appreciate skill design, most of the immortal cosmetics would just blow you away. Grimstroke has some of the coolest cosmetics
Grimstroke is a solid support, one of my favorites. long range spell to harras, paired well with any single target allies
Hey Grubby, just a small tip regarding wards, you want to put them on highground whenever you have a chance, like around 32 minute mark, putting it on top of stairs would still give you vision highground and lowground :)
Loving this series so far, waiting for you to play Invoker ( One of my favorites ! 🙃)
Haha, I am dreading his first Invoker game but can't wait for his 5th!
I also belive grubby can become a voker player
7:10 raw truth

Grimstroke is super underrated. Amazing hero and overall theme.
Pudge and Grim are perfect harmony. Espacially against void
The voice actor for Grimstroke sounds like Zoltan Kulle from Diablo 3.
Lmao drow trying to make them tp to defend was so desperate and short sighted
Evil Bob Ross
Also voiced by the amazing Steve Blum
Damn, I wish he'd seen the trailer for grimstroke in this vid
looks like GRIMSTROKE came from the LAND OF WANO
There are some really nice combos possible with Grim ult. Looking forward to you playing this very cool hero some more in the future peepoGlad
I ignored this hero since its come out, because nobody ever pick him. until i tried it this year. Biggest regret. I spam pick him now
For me its dark willow

I think this is just a problem for tv's mine does the same thing idk how to fix it lol. nuclear ads
Good combo when using grims ulti with lich ultimate chain frost 2 times linas ultimate 2 times, lions finger 2 times and other spell click
Grubby have you been clicking on the About Tab on hero pages in-game to read their lore? It's usually a paragraph or more.
Lich and grim combo is just illegal lol, that combo wrecked us on a lower bracket run on a tournament sadge
I love how grubby is addicted to Dota 2 just like me way back 2013.
Gotta love that Blood moon 🩸 🌝
E is your most important spell. Use it on your allies
wait, there is a moon over grimstroke when he casts E? this is an educational series!
e.: what the heck, the phantom is his wife???
Grimstroke is the last hero where Valve actually put effort to make the hero cool....
Definitely Agree! This Hero is super cool!
welcome to dota on twitch, where people will tell you that you shouldve sticked even if stick is still 4 seconds on cooldown at that time, 100% of the time.
Does linking and then casting ink illusion create 2 illusions?
lmao that pudge take
Hey grubby, your last hitting improved so much. You last hit way better than players who's playing dota for years.
truesight 2018 pugna grim combo i think you saw him :)
Hey Grubby, can you do a reaction video about Dota hero voice lines on buying specific item or killing specific hero. They have special voice lines.
His scepter is nightmare of supports
Ink illusion is spell immune and it has bonus move speed
Which is poor pos5,4s cant survive if their carry is fat
Period hero? xD ohh that title :D
Like you Dota 2 game grubby very nice and entertaining to watch especially for first time playing it can't wait for invoker you will need a hell of a coach to teach you with that hero.
It's so painful see how somebody get knowledges that u already have. And see mistakes that u've done long ago...
I know that Pudge ^^ means you are around Crusader rank if he didnt climb lately
Do you know about the deadlane concept?
Ha glad you like him. Wish they had more skins for him cause he's super cool. My favourite and main pick that I normally play. Buying e-blade is a must with him
Hi grubby. been watching your wc3 videos for years. glad to see you play my favorite game aswell
Hope we can see more content in the future
Good luck and have a nice day
There are certain heroes like Oracle that skip the talents until level 15.
use smoke from mid game to end to get pick offs and after you can push or do boss. DONT go at boss if enemy team is alive and even more if u dont have wards/sentry. And last but not least is a team game learn to communicate with team
Every time I say this is it, this is my hero, a new one comes that's even nicer making the choice harder 😭
49:22 talk about bad positioning
love your videos Grubby
try to play kunkka without x on set up i played dota 2 from long ago with max 1-2 on kunkka ganking. its will give you sense about position so good. remember don't use x for setting try to predict the enemy pos
Why are old games taking weeks to be released on YT 🙁
14:16 se le salio lo peruano al Grubby "AGGG" xddd
Grubby out here with the Dota
honestly my fav support. idk why he got such a low winrate, i feel like a boss everytime i pick him. just need 1 core to man up and go in and we win.
The damage of his 1st got nerfed which is why
Notail played him in TI
Tricky, hard, and very fun
So many heroes! Will you even remember the first ones you played once you reach the last?
Well played. Amazing play
love this hero its so satisfying when you have etherial+dagon 😅
I agree, Grimstroke is the coolest hero on dota2, but he is on a very low position this patch as one of the worst win rates almost at 40%
3d dota is dope
thats my signature supp hero T.T
Beautiful
Yes!!
Finally im early again!! Greetings from the Philippines grubby
Coolest hero?! I just wanna see you get to Nyx! ♥
one of my favorite... combine it with Riki, PA, or Ursa and I always got 1st kill 😁
Looking very good. 👍
I'm waiting for the lore guy in the comments. TBH you should read each heroe's lore @Grubby
There is only one combo R W
Hay grubby nice game conquest. i just hope once you get good in dota 2 you wont go to the Dark side.hooohahahaha
Best first time player))
30 commend from 15 match damn grubby
Hello Grubby 👋.
