We used to hike Bukhansan- when we lived in Seoul- 2002-2004. we lived about 20 minutes from the nearest trail by Yonshinae- At Bukhansan where I first tasted dandelion with bolgogi 😂 so much fun memories hiking in Korea. I remember going up the trail nearby the Palace in Jongno. -It was steep but so worth the view. Soraksan is one our favorites to hike as well. We also hiked Tebaeksan, Jirisan and hollasan in Jeju. I miss the mountains of SK.
Thanks for sharing this video. Climbing this mountain is one of the greatest memories of my life. I was climbing alone (American solo traveling) and three super awesome local gentlemen asked if I wanted to hike with them. So we hiked to the top and back down together and then they invited me to lunch at the bottom. Truly one of the best days of my life. The memories will live in me forever.
Yeah I have lots of these kinds of experiences. It’s even better in the countryside where they’ll share their rice wine or soju with you up or around the mountain trails haha
I climbed the Bukhansan back in 2014. Going down, I decided to taking a different/longer path and it started pouring. The water drenched all my gear and damaged by phone. Slipping and tripping on the rocks I hobbled to the entrance/exit when it sudden stopped raining... and that's how life goes.
A very good guide.. thank you! Btw, I will be hiking in some of the best mountains in South Korea soon. Currently living in America, I’ve hiked in Yosemite and a few best ones in Shenandoah, VA.. I go hiking often but usually locally within Maryland where I live..
Wow. I first climbed Bukhansan in 1990 (American living in Seoul). The trails were primitive (no stairs or walkways). The guide cables at the top did exist. I climbed again in 1998. One of my very favorite places in Korea. Go on a weekday in September. Not too hot; not too many crowds :)
Yeah!!! But definitely go prepared! I recommend gwanak mountain which will show in a few weeks first. Bukhansan was probably the most challenging... at least the route we took when we went down the rocks towards the back
Great guide. Thank you! How does one get a mountaineer to climb this? I was planning on hiking this with my 16 year old in a couple weeks on my own but watching this maybe I need a guide! Please and thank you.
Mmmmm I don’t think you need one.. there are signs or worst case just follow everyone haha. Not sure where you couldn’t find someone to climb it w ya…. You could just join when you’re there maybe?
Wow that’s really hard to say cause I take slower than usual all the time having to vlog and flu drones etc. download kakao maps and you’ll see the trails with estimated times. I think that’ll be a better gage for your times than what I did
Do they sell pickle spears in Seoul? I don't like cucumbers, but I do like pickles, and some sources say drinking pickle juice helps recovery after exercise.
@@livetravelasia Thanks for the info. I'm hoping to hike it someday so I'll stop in a supermarket for a jar of pickles on the way there. (And some cat food for the cats at the peak.)

Oh wow! I can understand around 80 percent of that but it's very interesting! Thank you so much for explaining that! Seems the triangle in the name is a bit more complicated than the triangle the three peaks form. Feel free to type in Korean and I'll try my best to understand and learn Korean better. Thank you!

I don’t believe it as the most climbed mountain in the world. There r def many other mountains that r more popular than this, including Mt Fuji in Japan, Swiss alps, Banff, Canada, and many mountains in China

Hopefully the weather will be a bit cooler :)

So Beautifull

Omg... I can’t imagine. The longer way back down would be dangerous as hell if it rained
Great video! I’m hoping to hike this on my visit.
Very nice hike! Rocking that hat Ethan😉 Now I want to go there.
Awesome! I still got 90 more top 100 mountains to climb so come join me anytime haha
Beautiful landscape 👍
It really was! I'll be climbing even more scenic ones this year!
The view!!!! Wow..
I agree, several spectacular views.
Yeah my rushed vlogging doesn’t do this justice... gwanaksan however which we do two weeks after this mountain had even better views tho
I love hiking...of course I'll be here next April
Yes! Great time to hike

That's amazing. Hope you find the mountains in Korea as charming as I have!
So nice...a lot of nature, beautiful !!!
So happy you liked it Monica!
Love this!
Super happy you liked it! I’ll will be making more and I just got a drone to get even more epic shots!
Awesome mate
Thanks!
Hi did you go there with a tour? like someone guiding you? how do you find those people?
I went with some family friends but you can’t download the kakao map app and the trails are all therr
My bucketlist is to do Bakundae... dunno when...
do i need to bring any hiking equipments for this? looks epic to do a hike here!
Shoes, bag, water, poles help. But I think you can rent it
I climbed that mountain; except from the Camp Stanley back gate side, in 2007 while stationed in Korea in the US Army.
Wow had no idea I could do that. How long did that take?
@@livetravelasia it was an all day affair. I hiked up and camped then came back down the next day.
와우~~멋져요 🤩
감사함니다!
I'm afraid of heights but this one I'd do
Yeah it’s worth it!
Beautiful but scary especially when coming down. I get goosebumps while watching the video also.😄😄
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes it was scary in person too haha. One of the hardest mountains I've climbed here and couldn't have done it alone

Wow yes I imagine it woulda been alot different! Heard it was dangerous back then
After seeing this vlog, I want to hike it!

Спасибо за видео. Напомнило Красноярские столбы. 🥸
Hiking shoes are a must? Possible to get them in Seoul sir?

Which route is this? from where did you start your hike?
How long was the total hike? 😊
It took us about 5-6 hrs This one was a long hike
How much time does it take to reach the top using shortest way?
Wow that’s really hard to say cause I take slower than usual all the time having to vlog and flu drones etc. download kakao maps and you’ll see the trails with estimated times. I think that’ll be a better gage for your times than what I did
Bukhansan is so huge that if you get lost coming down you ened up in a different city.
5:29 I have never thought of taking a cucumber on a hike. Sounds like a good tip. Occasionally, I take a banana or a tangerine.
Haha not sure if you saw the video where they took paprika. It’s even better lol
Minta tong infokan transportasi menuju bukhansan dong?

They have picked kimchi everywhere and you can find the typical western style pickles in markets :)

hey do you know if there's any check up before the hike? or can we hike anytime without restrictions?
Yeah idk about any restrictions.. I just showed up and walked haha
Did hike in 2018. Quite tiring but joyful experience
Nice!
Highly, highly recommend, do not climb if you suffer from arthritis.....hahahha
Puhahaha
I hiked there

if you believe it or not, it is true. just a matter of statistics.
