SWALLOW
You swallow a capsule that contains the balloon attached to a thin tube. You will have an X-ray to make sure the capsule is in the stomach prior to filling.
FILL
Once in your stomach, your doctor will use the tube to fill the balloon with liquid. You will have a second X-ray to confirm the balloon is fully filled in the stomach. Your doctor will then gently remove the tube and you’ll be on your way.
DISAPPEAR
Approximately 16-weeks after placement, the Allurion Balloon self-empties and passes naturally.

Update
The first three days were hard, but once I passed that threshold I feel much better. Lost almost 6kg in less than a week.
It's been over two weeks now, and I can't even feel the balloon.

It is quite difficult to make the pt swallow the big capsule without the use of the stylet... no need to do other XR after full inflation of the balloon.......as long as confirmed position pre inflation

Hey i have an idea: let's place some white subtitles infront of a white background, like, I don't know a white rob the patient if goint to use, a white wall, and white boxes.
There are couple aspects here that would make the patient more comfortable, even if she had a consultation before:
- Explain ahead what the entire procedure will be eg. explain that she will need to hold onto the tube once she swallows.
- Show the balloon before it's swallowed
- Act calmer yourself as a HCP. Doctor seemed extremly excited (so would I be!) but the slower you speak the better.
- Explain 2-3 steps ahead at any point
He did allude that there was a consult before this. That's why she looks so comfortable. Watch it again.

God I could never manage that! The idea of having a balloon full of water bobbling around inside me is quite gross. Does it deflate at some point?? And what happens after it deflates? Back to square one I presume. Just drink plenty of water to blunt your appetite - it must be safer than this and there’s an endless supply of water!

Well, if I use my little brain and think about this question, I would say: The water you drink doesn't sit in your stomach filling up half of it so you don't fill the entire stomach with food; eventually you pee it out. I drink 60 to 80 oz of water a day, and I don't lose weigh by just doing that; I wish! The balloon full of water sits in the stomach taking up half the space, so you eat less because you get full faster.

@@StopSelfDoubting I’m someone who would probably need to be put to sleep because I’d have so much anxiety during the process. Probably gagging on the balloon, spitting up water, freaking out at feeling the bag fill up. The docs probably put people to sleep so they don’t have to deal with all that 😅
So what happens after the balloon is gone?
I would expect that it will have forced you to change your habits and you'd be in a new routine.
How does that even work? Imagine after 2 weeks u start eating again and your stomach is gonna stretch and that small baloon doesn’t stop u from eating
If you do that you will vomit. Your stomach gets sick faster and the food gets pushed out immediately.

It’s complete waste of money, I have done this procedure with mohit bhandari, once you enroll there is no support on diet, salesmen like Lokesh ignore you as if he don’t know you,
Coming to technicalities,
On day 1 of the procedure, felt stomach was full and later in the day.. stomach cramps / pain started which is expected. (No prior anticipation and medicine given)
Due to bad stomach and pain you won’t feel any hunger and hence won’t eat for next 6-7 days and remain only on water resulting weight loss of 7-8%
On day 7 pain will subside and ur body will adapt to ballon and you will get normal and would start getting hunger as like before.
Morale of the story
Save your money and instead do OMAD diet to loose 20% in 3 month, which is most effective.
