Privileged to see this wonderful but underated singer at the Jazz Cafe in London. First heard on Jazz FM.
Became an instant fan.
Sublime plus Herbie Hancock.
Thank you.

This generation needs to know about, Jon Lucien! Bad, to the Bone! That band is jamming"
Incomparable. Irreplaceable. Genius. Passion. Originality. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
RUclips does not even post his full albums? Especially Search for the Inner Self.
Had the opportunity to sing with Mr. Jon Lucien at Kennedy Plaza in Atlantic City on the boardwalk. What an awesome experience. Wow!!
That must have been a bucket list moment
Remembering Mr. Lucien tonight. Don't know why, except his voice is unforgettable. His songs take me back to a time in my life in which I was a care free nutty child able to appreciate his beautiful voice and meaningful lyrics.
Golden throat Jon
Some great energy between Jon Lucien and Mayra Casales. Music is at its very best when musicians are digging each other like that.
I sat at the edge of the Bandstand at The Blue Note NYC only inches from Jon Lucien playing his Guitar to a mesmerized audience in the late 80s or early 90s
A gift from God.
What an incredible instrument, Jon Lucien's voice was. Thank you for posting this.
Before Billy Ocean.....there was Jon Lucien.....RIP Jon Lucien.
Just came across this today, sent by a friend who is a mutual Jon Lucien lover; killer!
Favorite singer unsung
Everybody in the band killed it!
Yes!
Yes,
I think so too.✌️✨✨
My God.... There's Nothing like the Beautiful Sounds of The Caribbean!!! Jon Lucien was a Master At It .....I'm in Paradise at the Beach
Listening to the Waves Sipping!!! R.I.P
What an amazing performance! No one makes genuinely sincere music quite like Jon Lucien.
Just wonderful...Thank you Eroll Bradshaw you sure can pick em..
What amazing live footage. It gave me goosebumps. How the audience can just be sitting there is beyond my comprehension. I would have to get up and dance!! This is truly wonderful.
Its called class.
Dead ass audience!!!!! I show him live 4 times he takes ur your !!! I couldn’t keep still ❤️❤️🥰
I see the "Cubanita" as he referred to her in Houston, Texas in the very early 1990's. I wasn't about to miss Lucien when he came to Texas. RIP amigo.. you were amongst the very finest.
I remember the verbal ass whoopin' that Lucien gave the house sound man for having the band up so darn LOUD! I mean Jon really let the guy have it. Nothing like having a rock sound man destroying your show... So, Jon put the guy in check (in front of the audience.. .how embarrassing) and got the sound down to a pleasurable volume. What an incredible performance I witnessed.. I believe it was his only show in Houston.
texasjohnnyboy Jon gave the sound man several warnings that the sound man just did not hear....so, finally, Jon laid the law down. He did what he had to do to stop his show from being compromised.
I remember seeing him live in Washington, DC, and was amazed at that voice - so seductively intoxicating.
Experienced 4 live performances and got to met The man with the golden throat one of my greatest memories I miss him immensely!!!!
Chiqui,
This is a classic, you know who to pick them. Jon is truly a master of interpretation.

What an amazing performance. I remember hearing his music ain the late 70’s. I’ll have go back and listen to more of his songs.
I guess the 9 people who thumbs-downed this know more than Herbie Hancock about music.
They must be insane :)
Masterpiece ✨️🎵
YES !!!! Thank you Brother 'Chiqui Rodriguez' !!!!
I MISS THIS GENIUS AND SENSUALITY!!
THANK YOU FOR POSTING ONE OF MY HEROES, THE INCOMPARABLE JON LUCIEN, WITH MY FRIENDS DAN CARILLO ON GUITAR, GREG JONES ON BASS, AND MAYRA CASALLES & CASCADU ON PERCUSSION!!!! WOW!!!!
Don't forget the groove beast Kim Plainfield!
Who were his contemporaries? Why is he underrated? Then? Now? Thanks. He is brilliant.
@@theloniouscoltrane3778 It's a good question. Jon wasn't mainstream for a music public that wanted groove and misogynist lyric/content. Jon worshipped his woman, her femininity wasn't abhorrent to him, it was God-like. He stuck to that design and always carried his stories on such delicious melodies and rhythms, never a cliche hook or groove. That separated him from the radio mainstream, even "smooth jazz" couldn't find a place for him on a regular basis, though, his style was clearly the definition of smooth and jazz. His contemporaries were people like Phyllis Hyman, Grover Washington, Jr, Donald Byrd, Jean and Doug Carn, who all brought many contemporary elements into their jazz presentations. I know I'm missing many names, but, those are who came to mind. Others will add to this list and to this assessment. I look forward to it.
Como me gusta esto!!! Que calidad la de Lucien!! Que bien sonaba este staff!!! Biern Mayra en los cueros, que grato es!!!
This is Awesome
Voice from heaven.Heart felt joy listening to his Angelic Golden Voice. An inspiration embracing us with love and peace.
One of the great voices of the 20th century. Plus his songwriting talent was exemplary. His life got to be excruciatingly difficult in his final years. Seems that he was confronted with challenges bordering on biblical. But whoever I've turned on to his artistry asks why they'd never heard of him. America, land of some of the greatest talent ever to grace this earth yet a barren wasteland for celebrating what it's created.
That's Super Cooooooooool!!!!!
How could you understand music and thumbs down this for real go to the wiz and get a heart.
R.I.P., Jon. Timeless artist.
excellent, nice musicianship all around.
I saw him perform twice in the early 90s at the Brighton Jazz Bop in the UK after he had been tracked down and brought out of retirement. I then saw him again at Dingwalls in London . incredible performer with a string of LPs I have and to this day still play on my radio show. One if the greats for sure
I saw him at the Jazz Cafe mid 90s. I've never been to any gig where there has been such reverence for the artist. I whispered something to my mate and the geezer in front turned round and glared at me, lol. I first heard this on a Jazz Juice compilation but soon got the LP. Dancefloor Dynamite! What's your radio show?
👏👏👏👏💓Miss you, dearly Jon. ✨💎✨🙏🏽RIP
