Love this packing video and also love the idea of sticking to a colour scheme with your clothes! When I last went to WDW it was in 2018, we went in October/November. I remember getting caught in a cold spell... I had just arrived at Animal Kingdom and had to go back to Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House to put my jeans on as I only had shorts on, was very very cold. Even the disney bus driver had a coat on and couldn't believe I came out in shorts haha. Also loved your Dumbo Jim Jams, the shop I work in sold those 😁 💖
"45 is shorts weather... that's not me!" I used to think that. I grew up in the south but moved to northeast Ohio 10 years ago. It was -4 this Sunday. We're having a bit of a warm spell today, it's been 15 degrees (f)! I can't wait for the Florida sunshine!

I live in the mountains of Colorado, where it's winter for 6 months of the year - but thought I was going to freeze to death during a cold snap in Florida in January a couple of years ago! The cold is just so much more penetrating there, probably because of the humidity.
Nice packing tips. I also react to fragrances (headache/neckache), and the scents are sometimes too heavy at Disney. I ask the hotels to not spray linens with scent and to remove the soaps from the rooms. It helps a lot. Best wishes!
Oh yes you are not alone! The scents and going from the humid air to the air conditioning and repeat triggers my asthma, bad! I’m fine at home in the great white North. Have a fun trip!
Hmmmm...my guess is the Riviera? If it is, I can't wait to hear your thoughts! We stayed there in March 2020 and loved it. Have a great trip. Oh and about the asthma triggers...I'm a respiratory therapist and heavy scents are definitely a trigger for asthma attacks. As a warning, the Riviera has a heavy scent in the lobby area so if you are staying there ,keep your inhaler close!
I went to Disney this past weekend, Had a really good time long lines thou...unfortunately didn't get to go on the MIne Train. But we did get to go on most of the rides...This video helped me pack thanks..
I live in southern Arizona and 45 is REALLY cold to me! Layers are essential because we range from 40s-70s in the winter on the majority of days. It stinks when packing though since you know you have to take extra things to adapt but often space is limited! Thanks for the tips!
I live in Florida and Jen is correct on the weather here. It is a very damp cold in Florida. This morning left my car outside and it was cover in ice/frost. Enough ice/frost that I was able to scrape it off to make a Florida snowman on the top on my car. ;)
That's such an interesting comment about your allergies/asthma. My husband has the opposite reaction. Here at home he uses an inhaler daily, but down in Disney he never has to use it
So true about the weather. I can speak from experience - it can drop 20 in no time and the locals can be hard pressed to be sure the outside water systems, etc. are shut off properly etc. Have a great trip! We are set to go in late April unless something unforeseen happens.
I'm guessing Beach Club because Stormalong Bay looks like an amazing pool. I'm from and live in Colorado. My husband and I just went in December, first time for that time of year, and it was a riot of weather. We left in 7° weather at home and landed to 80° 😊. But there are many nights that were cold--I was grateful for warm layers and it reminded me of milder nights here in the winter.
We just got back and it was so nice to meet you! One of my 11 year olds had a really bad allergy flare up and we started him on Zyrtec after a few nights. The scent is and interesting theory. I think it started at the Boardwalk and was fine at Saratoga. Hm. You’ve got me thinking.

Have a great time!! As a native South Floridian, you are 100% correct! The weather here is unpredictable (daily). Every trip to central Florida, we check the weekly weather prior to departing. I’m guessing you are staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort or Disney’s Beach Club Resort!
Hey Jen I just got back from a 4 day weekend!! Friday was beautiful 77. Then old man winter flew in on Saturday it rained all day and was so cold like a 30 degree drop in the 40s. I hope you have a great trip. We stayed at the Swan and Dolphin.

Are you going to the Grand Floridian? We are swedes and we are used to cold weather, HOWEVER, the cold weather in Florida is something completely different. A few years back we were at Disney in Feb and were caught off guard with that kind of cold. So we pack our Helly Hansen base layers just in case. They don't take up much space and they can make a huge difference in comfort on those chilly days in the parks.
Yes, cold 🥶. I'm in the mtns of NC and we get our share of cold but we went to a Christmas Party in 2018 and it was in the 30s. Luckily I had checked the weather prior to our trip and packed coats, hats, and gloves.
I get what you say about the FL cold, I’m from WI and the first time my family went down there during Winter, it was perfect during the day but when the weather dropped, it dropped so fast we had to go into mouse gears and $300 later we were more comfortable with Disney hoodies and socks, lol. Now we know to layer up for Disney winter months. Have fun on ur trip. One of these years I’ll catch the Festival of the Arts, the festival is just so short.
Went to WDW for marathon weekend in 2010 and it was 20 degrees at start time on the mornings of both the half and the full. I had come from New York but like you said "there's no cold like Florida cold." And once you're cold it doesn't matter how much you put on, you never feel warm. Starting with layers and taking them off as needed is definitely the smart route. Have a great trip - can't wait to hear about it!
We leave this Saturday for a week at the Poly and a week at the Riviera…..first time, so excited. Based on the Navy Blue wardrobe I’m guessing Yacht Club or Riviera….
Hello Jen! I’ve been enjoying your videos for about two years now but for some reason never got around to posting a comment. First, I want to express my gratitude for the content you’ve shared throughout the great unpleasantness!😆 Your positive attitude and humor have certainly helped me through some difficult days. I’m a 55 year old single mom of three adult sons, one married and two still in the nest. I’m also a DVC member. We were thankfully able to go back home last September/October for two weeks and are returning on 2/9 for 12 days to experience Festival of the Arts for the first time, so your winter packing video was perfect timing! We typically travel to WDW in the fall, so this will certainly be a different trip. Being from Southern California, I’m not a fan of the cold and want to be prepared. I’ve got pretty much everything set aside, various layers of clothing and am ready for 40-80 degree weather! Once again, thank you so much for your videos, you’re definitely a girl after my own heart! And by the way, my guess is that you’re staying at PVB which is also where we’ll be staying. My daughter and I are heading to Gran Destino Tower next Saturday 1-29-22. We have been nowhere in 2 years and are so excited. We love Disney World but my husband says we are crazy. This was perfect timing for a packing video and helps to confirm that we are not crazy. Thank you!
I spent the morning packing our family for Disney! We leave later this week and will spend the weekend in St. Augustine Beach, then it's on to Orlando for 10 days. I love that you talk about Florida winter weather, because it's a totally different beast. We live in the Caribbean, so people laugh at us when the 60's feel cold, but the humidity definitely makes cooler temps feel different. Can't wait to see where you stay :)
Great packing tips for winter in Florida. Our son joined us one January and brought only shorts and tshirts. A cold snap did roll in and he was borrowing my husbands fleece the rest of the trip. He only had the jeans he travelled in!
We live in the Midwest and we get cold winters. And YES, Florida cold is different. Our first trip to WDW was in January 2015, and HOLY HANNAH…. I was in Epcot in a tank, a long sleeve shirt, a hoodie, and a jacket! I also had a beanie on! I was FREEZING!!! The next day at Magic Kingdom I was sweating in 70 degrees! It was crazy!
This is so true - we went in mid November once and were so cold that we were just looking for indoor attractions to warm ourselves up! We are from Central NY so are no strangers to very cold weather too!
I will absolutely back you up on the Florida cold in the winter - it can and it does get quite cold, sometimes near freezing during the winter months! We are from Canada (and I’ll also debunk a myth… not all of Canada is freezing lol, where we live it’s fairly mild in the winter and very hot/humid in the summers) Anyway - we went to Disney world for Christmas and half of our trip we were VERY cold. Yes, us Canadians lol. Even when it was say a high of 50-55, we wore sweaters and it felt much colder, I believe because of the damp air in FL. It was cloudy and a bit rainy, and we felt it was warmer at home the week before we left. Lol Only once it got above 65 and was sunny it was ok. You still needed layers in the mornings and at night. Love your tips and packing! As for the resort I’m wondering if you are staying at the Beach Club :) or AKL or Poly. Haha
Love the packing video. I got back a week ago to NY (48 that morning at Disney and 0 in NY, why??? 😭) and yes, I swear it’s different down there! The sun is more direct so in the sun, during the day, even in the 60’s I’m like “ooo getting warm, push up the sleeves” then I get in a shady spot and the wind is really going and I’m like “why don’t I have a jacket, I’m so cold!” Plus the temperature change from morning to noon and mid-day to evening/night is quite a lot so it really is hard to figure out what to wear so you’re not cold or hot as the day goes on. I’m also feeling determined to do carry on for my next trip which is also without the kids. My husband and I had a lot of souvenirs this last trip but the next one I think not. We also spent an hour waiting for our bags at JFK 😒😒 Between our owner’s locker and your tips, I think I can do it! Also, I’m going to guess/hope for AKL! It’s a wonderful resort for relaxing at! It’s one of our home resorts and I absolutely love it.
Pool makes me think BCV, but I am going to guess Riviera. Have a wonderful trip. We "should have" been there this upcoming week, but had to reschedule to April thanks to COVID. There are quite a few TGMers there this week.
We were there last week and it was gorgeous! One day it was very windy which was chilly but otherwise, so nice! Then came back to snow in Athens, GA… 😳

I'm from Ottawa Canada and know what you mean about cold weather in typical warm climates. My guess for your DVC stay is Riviera, second guess is Old Key West.

Such a great video! We actually leave this week for Disney World!! (Went the same time last year)! I would just love to run into you there, but you may already be home at that point. Anyways, you’re so right about packing for Disney in the winter needs involve wearing layers! Last year, we had a big range of temps from 38 degrees, first thing in the morning with brutal wind gusts, to hot and humid 77 degrees other days. Keep sharing all your tips because we need them! My wild guess is you’re staying at Bay Lake Tower this time. :)

This was a great video we goto Florida several times a year winter and summer and people ask me alot about dressing down there at different times, you have educated me on dress crocs 😀 I found them for men!, and going back on previous Q and A video I think it would be great to talk about good off property resorts, I have had people say if I can't stay on property should I even go and I'm like 100 times yes while the bubble is awesome it gonna be awesome regardless!
I'm Guessing Beach club. May not happen frequently but it can get super cold. We are in Pensacola Florida, it's pretty cold and going to get colder throughout the week (20s & 30s)

Right before the Pandemic, we went down for a weekend in February for the LUAU. LOL.... It was freezing. We had to wear our winter coats while doing the hula. Sad that the Polynesian Luau has gotten cancelled. Who would ever guess it could get that cold in Florida??? That Key West magic band is soooo cute; and if you have shoes that have been comfy in the parks. I'm sold. I'm looking for a pair of those flats.
Oh yay! I’m so glad to hear about the crocs flats. I just bought these for my March trip! I’m not to the point where I can embrace standard crocs in public, but I’m way past choosing fashion over comfort. I do have some cute crocs sandals but I don’t know about a full day in the park with them bc of the straps. Sneakers are my worst choice for some reason, last trip my fave option was my Birkenstock sandals. Regarding asthma attacks at Disney, are you just so excited that you work yourself up? Kidding 😆. Yes! 100% the scents are very very difficult for people with allergies. My family can’t eat at any of the indoor yacht & beach club restaurants because our allergies are so bad anytime we walk into the lobby area. Same goes for some of the other resort lobbies. My niece ended up needing her emergency inhaler it got so bad. The scents are nice and I’m sure many people really love them but I wish Disney would tone them down a bit since it really is hazardous for many people. Oh well, we still love our DVC membership but we have to choose our resorts carefully!
I hadn't thought about the fact that certain resorts are worse but this last time was bad for me and we were at Beach Club so I think that may be a trigger for it! UGH I love that smell but also like to breathe and stuff.
i love your magic bands. i have the pink version of your silver glitter one. i love it but it catches on everything!! i was worried it would scuff up and damage my clothes so i had to buy a different one (got the dvc navy one) so i wouldn't ruin my clothes. i wish the glitter was sealed to avoid that issue. especially when wearing softer fabrics or a sweater
We moved here from Ohio in Nov. It was really warm then. Last Monday we went to Magic Kingdom. It was in the 50's and I froze. Had to buy gloves and a warm hat. The wind can cut through you.
Crocs flats- what a concept! YES. When I'm in Disney I always have to have my Inhaler with me. I almost never use it at home but when I'm down there, the scents can trigger a reaction. I don't have a full-blown attack but I get the classic asthma cough which is obviously "not cool" especially now. Enjoy your trip!

A few years ago, we were there in the winter and temps dropped into the 30s. We wore sweatshirts and t-shirts underneath. None of us checked the weather before we headed down (big mistake!!!). Having a longsleeve shirt under the sweatshirt would have been perfect. Always check the weather before you go 😊

I spent the morning packing our family for Disney! We leave later this week and will spend the weekend in St. Augustine Beach, then it's on to Orlando for 10 days. I love that you talk about Florida winter weather, because it's a totally different beast. We live in the Caribbean, so people laugh at us when the 60's feel cold, but the humidity definitely makes cooler temps feel different. Can't wait to see where you stay :)

Great packing tips for winter in Florida. Our son joined us one January and brought only shorts and tshirts. A cold snap did roll in and he was borrowing my husbands fleece the rest of the trip. He only had the jeans he travelled in!
We live in the Midwest and we get cold winters. And YES, Florida cold is different. Our first trip to WDW was in January 2015, and HOLY HANNAH…. I was in Epcot in a tank, a long sleeve shirt, a hoodie, and a jacket! I also had a beanie on! I was FREEZING!!! The next day at Magic Kingdom I was sweating in 70 degrees! It was crazy!
Yeah that's the part that can really make packing a challenge!

This is so true - we went in mid November once and were so cold that we were just looking for indoor attractions to warm ourselves up! We are from Central NY so are no strangers to very cold weather too!

I will absolutely back you up on the Florida cold in the winter - it can and it does get quite cold, sometimes near freezing during the winter months! We are from Canada (and I’ll also debunk a myth… not all of Canada is freezing lol, where we live it’s fairly mild in the winter and very hot/humid in the summers) Anyway - we went to Disney world for Christmas and half of our trip we were VERY cold. Yes, us Canadians lol. Even when it was say a high of 50-55, we wore sweaters and it felt much colder, I believe because of the damp air in FL. It was cloudy and a bit rainy, and we felt it was warmer at home the week before we left. Lol
Only once it got above 65 and was sunny it was ok. You still needed layers in the mornings and at night.

Love the packing video. I got back a week ago to NY (48 that morning at Disney and 0 in NY, why??? 😭) and yes, I swear it’s different down there! The sun is more direct so in the sun, during the day, even in the 60’s I’m like “ooo getting warm, push up the sleeves” then I get in a shady spot and the wind is really going and I’m like “why don’t I have a jacket, I’m so cold!” Plus the temperature change from morning to noon and mid-day to evening/night is quite a lot so it really is hard to figure out what to wear so you’re not cold or hot as the day goes on.
I’m also feeling determined to do carry on for my next trip which is also without the kids. My husband and I had a lot of souvenirs this last trip but the next one I think not. We also spent an hour waiting for our bags at JFK 😒😒 Between our owner’s locker and your tips, I think I can do it!
Also, I’m going to guess/hope for AKL! It’s a wonderful resort for relaxing at! It’s one of our home resorts and I absolutely love it.
Pool makes me think BCV, but I am going to guess Riviera. Have a wonderful trip. We "should have" been there this upcoming week, but had to reschedule to April thanks to COVID. There are quite a few TGMers there this week.

We were there last week and it was gorgeous! One day it was very windy which was chilly but otherwise, so nice! Then came back to snow in Athens, GA… 😳

I'm from Ottawa Canada and know what you mean about cold weather in typical warm climates. My guess for your DVC stay is Riviera, second guess is Old Key West.

Such a great video! We actually leave this week for Disney World!! (Went the same time last year)! I would just love to run into you there, but you may already be home at that point. Anyways, you’re so right about packing for Disney in the winter needs involve wearing layers! Last year, we had a big range of temps from 38 degrees, first thing in the morning with brutal wind gusts, to hot and humid 77 degrees other days. Keep sharing all your tips because we need them! My wild guess is you’re staying at Bay Lake Tower this time. :)

This was a great video we goto Florida several times a year winter and summer and people ask me alot about dressing down there at different times, you have educated me on dress crocs 😀 I found them for men!, and going back on previous Q and A video I think it would be great to talk about good off property resorts, I have had people say if I can't stay on property should I even go and I'm like 100 times yes while the bubble is awesome it gonna be awesome regardless!
I'm Guessing Beach club. May not happen frequently but it can get super cold. We are in Pensacola Florida, it's pretty cold and going to get colder throughout the week (20s & 30s)

Right before the Pandemic, we went down for a weekend in February for the LUAU. LOL.... It was freezing. We had to wear our winter coats while doing the hula. Sad that the Polynesian Luau has gotten cancelled. Who would ever guess it could get that cold in Florida??? That Key West magic band is soooo cute; and if you have shoes that have been comfy in the parks. I'm sold. I'm looking for a pair of those flats.

Oh yay! I’m so glad to hear about the crocs flats. I just bought these for my March trip! I’m not to the point where I can embrace standard crocs in public, but I’m way past choosing fashion over comfort. I do have some cute crocs sandals but I don’t know about a full day in the park with them bc of the straps. Sneakers are my worst choice for some reason, last trip my fave option was my Birkenstock sandals. Regarding asthma attacks at Disney, are you just so excited that you work yourself up? Kidding 😆. Florida can be really flippin’ cold! My hubby, daughter and I were there during Winter 2019 and like to’ve froze to death! LOL

I’m from IL and currently live in SC. When they say it’s cold here, it’s usually in the 40s which isn’t cold for my family. 🤣

Yes! 100% the scents are very very difficult for people with allergies. My family can’t eat at any of the indoor yacht & beach club restaurants because our allergies are so bad anytime we walk into the lobby area. Same goes for some of the other resort lobbies. My niece ended up needing her emergency inhaler it got so bad. The scents are nice and I’m sure many people really love them but I wish Disney would tone them down a bit since it really is hazardous for many people. Oh well, we still love our DVC membership but we have to choose our resorts carefully!
I hadn't thought about the fact that certain resorts are worse but this last time was bad for me and we were at Beach Club so I think that may be a trigger for it! UGH I love that smell but also like to breathe and stuff.
i love your magic bands. i have the pink version of your silver glitter one. i love it but it catches on everything!! i was worried it would scuff up and damage my clothes so i had to buy a different one (got the dvc navy one) so i wouldn't ruin my clothes. i wish the glitter was sealed to avoid that issue. especially when wearing softer fabrics or a sweater
We moved here from Ohio in Nov. It was really warm then. Last Monday we went to Magic Kingdom. It was in the 50's and I froze. Had to buy gloves and a warm hat. The wind can cut through you.

Crocs flats- what a concept! YES. When I'm in Disney I always have to have my Inhaler with me. I almost never use it at home but when I'm down there, the scents can trigger a reaction. I don't have a full-blown attack but I get the classic asthma cough which is obviously "not cool" especially now. Enjoy your trip!

A few years ago, we were there in the winter and temps dropped into the 30s. We wore sweatshirts and t-shirts underneath. None of us checked the weather before we headed down (big mistake!!!). Having a longsleeve shirt under the sweatshirt would have been perfect. Always check the weather before you go 😊
It can really surprise you! I think it’s happened to all of us but it’s one of those things that once it’s happened you LEARN 😂
