I won’t even lie I’m still staying for the same reason but I’m staying for childe. I love how despite being a bad person on the surface, he has his own motivations to improve his fighting skill and cares deeply for his family (and even the traveler by extent). I also love how he’s like literally connected to so many important aspects of the story (the whole liyue archon quest, the harbingers, skirk, the abyss, and honestly shneznyah as well. Ignore how I spelled it wrong). I just think that he’s super interesting and that he will only be making more appearances as the story continues

They are the only one seemingly active in fighting/challenging the celestia which would be a good coincidence since the archon seems to resides with the theme "love" and everyone of the harbinger seems to be connected with some kind of love, childe love for his faraway family, signora revenge/grief over love, scaramouche search for love, arlechino seeming love for orphans and so on. But what is tsaritsa love for? Maybe people of teyvat or something to do with the downfall of khaenriah (like raiden sister) why is she fighting celestia?

In Scara’s voice lines he mentions the Tsaritsa “compensating for something”, so my running theory is maybe she feels guilty about something that happened in Khanri’ah/regarding Khanri’ah, or maybe she’s trying to avenge a loved one.

I'm simultaneously happy that the Fatui are so involved with the main story and pissed that they're only involved in Archon quests. That means I can only see them like, once a year. They're my favorite part of Genshin! At least I got to see Tartaglia show up twice, as he is the best character in this game (to me at least) LMAOO
Also, just a little tid bit; your explanation about Signora having a chance to return in Natlan still holds water since, even though she is married to Pantalone, she is always widely regarded in the commedia as Capitano's "other half". I think this theory is still valid

Dottore is HOT. ❤❤❤ That's how I feel about the Fatui.
I would challenge the point that Dottore personally hindered Nahida/Buer at all, in any way whatsoever, and as a matter of fact played an integral role in freeing her. Firstly, he was the first to realise that she could travel outside of her physical constraints through dreams (astral projection-like abilities), much like his consciousness can travel through his Segments when need be and 'possess' them even if they're different people technically, but he also did nothing to stop Nahida from still being able to do so, I'm sure he could've if he wished it. Moreover, Dottore brought the Electro Gnosis and allowed Buer to fight for her freedom against the Akademiya's old sages (represented by Scaramouche, as Nahida remarks, that was THEIR prized project, it never held any importance to Dottore whatsoever, though, being just an ordinary experiment to him, hence his lack of real disappointment at the loss, almost as if he expected it, especially so considering the Sages didn't have the time to use the canned knowledge on Scaramouche to begin with [so, he never actually became a god in the sense of possessing any divine knowledge, more so just operating with a Gnosis, but the original goal was supposed to wipe Scaramouche's own consciousness and replace it with King Deshret's so that he could lead Sumeru instead of Nahida/Buer, Scaramouche would just serve as basically a conduit to hold the Gnosis, but the consciousness would *not* be that of Scaramouche, this is why his backstory being revealed to Haypasia was an unexpected event, considering the AI god was supposed to be Deshret, not Scaramouche, so that would expose the project as an artificial resurrection rather than the literal 'return of King Deshret' that was advertised to the desert-dwellers.)
In any case, I do believe Dottore fully expected for Scaramouche to lose that battle, even as weak as Nahida was/is, I think Dottore likely had a contingency plan in the scenario of a success or a loss: if loss, obtain Gnoses cordially, if success, leave the Fatui and return to the Akademiya/Sumeru in glory, which is what HE actually wants, as he himself remarks, he misses his homeland and is sad his academic achievements have never been recognised there, and rightly so, as he's achieved far more than any other student. Certainly more than Lisa, who is celebrated for pretty much no real reason we are made aware of, or even Signora whom we just know was "talented," but that's it. Dottore, on the other hand, managed to CURE Eleazar in Abbas' case, mitigate Eleazar in Collei's case, and even developed a vaccine using Archon Residue, which cured some people, but was deemed blasphemous because it used archon residue. However, he STILL did it, and what would the alternative to that be? They would die regardless, and be in pain regardless, at least Zandik gave Collei a chance at life, and kept her safe, if in unpleasant treatment, it was better than what she experienced in the wilds of Sumeru even by her own assessment. She even goes on to call it childish, correctly so, even if she doesn't recognise everything Dottore did for her. (Scaramouche has grievances, though he himself has killed people for petty revenge and intended to abuse his power as a god/become basically Demiurgic, even intended to kxll Dottore before he even knew anything about Tatarasuna, so he is just an evil creation, and Hoyo SHOULD have killed him, he's the one Harbinger who really has no sympathetic motives and just does bad things because he feels entitled to do them, it's no wonder people hate him. At least Dottore has actually saved people, and it is very obvious he is not the same as his manhua Segment, who could have been said to be evil -- that concept of Dottore was very clearly scrapped, as were many things from the manhua, even things from the game's CBT later changed course, so IDK why people keep trying to 1:1 Dottore to Webttore, they are literally two different people who simply share the same title, not even the same appearance in the end, and Hoyo went to great lengths to stress this, yet mfs will still try to say they're the same. Collei, on the other hand, went through a much milder redesign, where you can tell she's the same person, just with different clothes and nicer hair, so she could fit the 'Genshin playable character' aesthetic and also communicate her maturity compared to her manhua version/her design shares parallels with Amber's (though the hair was likely redesigned to connect her to Dendro as well, considering her wisps/bangs look like leaves/sprouts.)
In any case, DOTTORE was the first Harbinger who did NOT manipulate the archon OR try to cause a devastating incident in the archon's nation/try to physically attack the archon, and arguably actually HELPED the Archon, even when he had no direct reason to and had the upper hand (unlike Arlecchino, who did NOT have the upper hand in Fontaine during the AQ, and who, as a Fontainian, had to call a truce with Furina/Neuvillette in the interest of not being dissolved, which is a self-serving interest, albeit a very understandable one. Though even when cooperating, she is unpleasant and cruel especially to Furina.)
In any case, the AQs: Mondstadt, Signora aggressively [although justifiably, considering what happened to Rostam, and how devoted she was to Venti before] seizes Venti's Gnosis by force and kicks him. Though I'd say it is obvious Venti was acting, as he understands Signora's pain, and probably believed he deserved that kick, considering Rostam died trying to protect Mondstadt, and Signora tried to HELP Mondstadt by cleansing the abyssal beasts, but got corrupted in the process, not unlike how the expression of Durin's true, kind nature was corrupted by his abyssal origins. Similarly, Signora used to be basically a princess before Rostam died, after which she became the Crimson Witch, and bore a grudge against the gods aside from the Tsaritsa for Rostam's death and failing to protect humanity, as she saw it.
Childe intended and was prepared to nearly genocide Liyue for the sake of luring Rex Lapis, though of course we later learn that the Tsaritsa and Zhongli had an agreement, and Childe was a pawn. Signora was sent to collect the Gnosis and behaved, but only because she was there as a representative of the Tsaritsa, otherwise she would have shown Zhongli similar treatment as what she did Venti and the Shogun/Ei, I believe. Inazuma, Scaramouche OUTRIGHT TRIES TO KXLL US in the Delusion factory, and Yae surrendering the Gnosis in exchange for our lives is the only thing that saves us. Worth recalling is the 1.1 event where he ALSO TRIES TO KXLL US, and MONA is the one to save us (and also say that he is sinister/evil, so Mona, Yae, and Dottore were right not to trust that thing, regardless of whatever propaganda Hoyo pulled to market him, he was EVIL, and still has not even remotely redeemed himself, just played victim like a beta loser.)
Moving on, Sumeru, Scaramouche and the Akademiya sages are the ones interested in godhood/replacing a god. Dottore KNOWS how to become godlike already, lmao, so he had no intention of making Scaramouche/"Deshret" a real god, hence, artificial god, with constraints in place should said consciousness ever pose a problem, not unlike Ei and the Shogun. We know the first three Harbingers possess abilities akin to gods, and that Dottore is originally human (his own notes/Nahida stating so), so he could have easily shared this process with Scaramouche had he wished to, but he recognised that was a terrible idea, rightly. The AG project then, had some other purpose for the Fatui, possibly even being to liberate Nahida in the first place, considering the Akademiya had her hostage for 500 years, for the purpose of purifying Irminsul of the corruption it retained from Rhukkadevata's memory, which took TWO Gnoses to achieve. The Archons no longer speak to each other excepting Zhongli and Venti [even then, rarely], so how else was Nahida supposed to get a second Gnosis, especially being physically in captivity? Dottore was the one who set her free AND brought the second gnosis (Electro), which Scaramouche refused to let go of, so it would necessitate beating him to obtain it given how much value he placed on it. Dottore not only allowed her to claim it (as she remarks, he could have stepped in to stop that or help Scaramouche at any time, but Dottore knew not to do this, experiment aside, as it shows from him not doing so even after the experiment had concluded, and observing Nahida reuniting with Rhukkadevata/purifying Irminsul before interjecting at the end, as if this, too, was part of his mission. We do know he has nothing to do with its corruption, as that was the Cataclysm, but he certainly had a LOT to do with its solution, even if not actively, he could have REALLY fxcked Sumeru over had he wished to, as he remarks himself, yet he chose not to do that. Unlike Fontaine, which has a powerful Hydro sovereign and had an Archon, Sumeru was ruled by human Sages and a weak Archon for 500 years, if Dottore was destructive, evil, or crazy, it would've been a complete cakewalk to nuke Sumeru completely had he willed it. Yet, he doesn't, and he deals fairly with Nahida, if anything, the negotiations that happen occur at HIS personal expense (his Segments) and not the Fatui's, for the sake of the Fatui (Dottore was unwilling to gamble awakening the HP in case it would attack Snezhnaya/the Fatui, even Nahida asks whether his comrades would be prepared to deal with that outcome, and Dottore does not even THINK to gamble on that, however low the possibility. Although it was a complete bluff, it shows Dottore is not reckless, and is conscientious/responsible [unlike his manhua Segment, who is a true wild card and doesn't care about even the Fatui/just does things for his own amusement. That is NOT Zandik, however.])

Fontaine, I already touched on, temporary truce in the interest of Arlecchino and any other Fontainian Fatui not to be dissolved, considering that's their entire intelligence branch, it would behoove the Tsaritsa to care from a purely utilitarian angle, though she is also a gentle god, so she likely has compassion for the people of Fontaine. In any case, despite this cooperation, we see Arlecchino act badly and try to ATTACK Furina to obtain the Gnosis/needlessly put her through much trauma for her own entertainment, almost as if she enjoys torturing her and making her uncomfortable. We never see Dottore treat Nahida this way, on the contrary, he treats her respecftully, and it is thanks to Dottore that we get Fatui intelligence, despite this not even being his department. Arlecchino has given us literally nothing, on the other hand, but because she can put up a false front of cordiality, people will eat that up, it's laughable tbh. Neuvillette also makes it very clear that the Gnosis was NOT a diplomatic gift to Arlecchino for their cooperation, but simply given as something no longer necessary to Fontaine, to avoid a conflict over it now that Fontaine and the Fatui no longer share a common interest/enemy (the Prophecy.) Neither he nor Navia trust Arlecchino, and they are wise not to do so.
It's just funny to me how people forget all the awful things Arlechino did to Furina, but they'll harp on about Signora kicking Venti and even say she deserved to dxe because of that, but if that's so, then the same should apply to Arlecchino, if not more, considering Furina WASN'T asleep at the wheel, but actively working to solve the prophecy. And although Dottore's story is more nuanced and he's certainly had to do difficult things in the name of the greater good/his Fatuus missions, he has tried his best to minimise the extent of the damage where possible, despite his philosophy of conflict being the natural state of the world and will to power, Dottore is EXTREMELY responsible with power, and does not recklessly abuse it. We see this in Sumeru itself, with Scaramouche showing the inverse, when even given the idea of power, his first instinct was to abuse those he deemed weaker than himself and even betray Dottore/"put that puny human in his place," this before any of the Tatarasuna AQ Interlude events, so Scaramouche was always bad, that awful rewriting of history to scapegoat Dottore and sell units isn't going to work on me.
Anyway, the Fatui are very based, and it'll be interesting to see what happens in Natlan with Capitano and whoever else is involved in there, but yeah, I don't think the Fatui are our enemies at all, and the plot's tone is slowly shifting towards that. I think with some current Fatui being playable, we see that too.

I don't think that Snezhnaya will be final zone, maybe 2nd to final as Celestra will be final zone. I garentee, it's much bigger then we think it is, as it's way up in the sky. May even be as big as all the zones we've been to so far put together. Yes I know we can see what looks like buildings, hinting that it's not that big, but that can be a optical illustion.

I will never forgive HoYoverse for writing Signora off solely for the fact that they wanted to add SHOCK VALUE to Inazuma's story. It's so meaningless and nothing happens after that: there's no consequences, there's no value. (for a Fatui Harbinger nobody seems to care at all? we've seen this Fontaine too, but it was actually addressed quite well which helped to show that Harbingers ARE important--why did it take three years?) I have so much problems with Signora, and the way she was handled.
To address some counter-arguments: "Her death was meant to show how powerful the Raiden Shogun is". As if we didn't face off against her at the end of act 2, we already knew how powerful she was.
"Sometimes the message is: nothing matters in the end". Yes, but to pull of that narrative and make it GOOD, we should've gotten to see Signora's side of things her story! She just died, and we're supposed to feel something about that?! It's too random, there's no buildup, and no mention of her backstory at all. It's stupid.
The Harbingers as of regard now...
Signora is still my 2nd favorite harbinger to this day, just only riding off from her lore, and her presence in the archon quests she played, it's a terrible shame how she was done, i only hope that HoYo improves their writing.... Like, I'm so disappointed, and I have a feeling I'm going to be even more disappointed; Fontaine's story was good, but the Harbingers were really underwhelming and underutilized in my opinion: Tartaglia was there as a plot device and there's no more meaning to it than that and we've seen no CHARACTER development from him; he hasn't changed and THE TRAVELER'S opinion and attitude towards him hasn't changed either, so what's it matter anymore? I'm really disappointed to how he was added in to the story only to not really add any value. I SWEAR if he doesn't come back or mentioned in the 4.x patches I'm REALLY going to WORRY. Arlechinno was intresting and I like her, but I feel betrayed that the Overture Teaser was just an red herring--FALSEE-MARKETING IS I SAY SO--- At this point, it just feels like the Fatui and its Harbingers have no merit, and value; they're just there, and HoYo uses the way they've been marketed to make it seem like they are.
The Harbingers are so fascinating and intresting--yes, all of them--but I fear that we may not even get to the best of their stories; we only have Natlan and Snezhnaya left and with the pacing of story releases shown in Genshin, I feel like we won't get a proper build up to the last nation, and I'm stating to agree with that statement.

    • @gentlemouse102

Yeah, this comment was full of bias, if you couldn't tell, Tartaglia is my favorite of all Genshin Impact characters. I just find it really funny, hilarious that he didn't have a single line in the Fontaine chapters despite being the sole cause as for why Fontaine had a chapter anyways lmao.

I also really like Arlechinno. They had a presence in Fontaine and that's undeniable. The most disappointing outcome is that we head straight into Natlan, and she's never seen or developed again. Most probable. Okay, maybe I'm being too bitter and unfaithful to the Genshin writers, but I only feel this way because of past missed potentials, and the way the story is going.

As much as I love genshin story since Sumeru, I don't necessarily like where they are going with the Fatui. I like Dottore and Signora because they are clearly the bad guys and the writers don't try to write a stupid and pointless redeeming quests for them like in Childe's case. Are you trying to say that I'm supposed to like the guy after he tried to kill me and destroy a city full of innocent people, because he "has nothing against us personally", "just following orders" and is a family man? As someone who lives in a country at war and hears the same excuses for the enemies who try to kill me every other day - I'm not buying that.
I'm not against characters being multi-dimensional, but Genshin does it in a silliest way possible so far, giving us the quests and dialogue options like "Fatui just think differently." after we encounter some morally-neutral characters from the organization.
Most of all I'm afraid where this is going. We will have sort of a Furina moment for Tsaritsa where "Ohh, you are actually a misunderstood cutie-patootie", while she casually runs a gang of complete psychos as her errand-people.
Still, all things considered, I don't think it will come to this, but I've recognized the pattern: they try to "redeem" a Fatui before making us pull for them. And I don't believe there's a redemption for Tsaritsa if she's the one giving orders to this gang and allows Dottore to hang around. Make her playable without a redemption arc or burn her to ash like Signora.

to add on to this, if you run into Salsa in Fontaine and do her quests, she emphasizes on how the one who establishes the organization is to be ranked "0". To further support this, in the Pale Flame artifact set which is basically the Fatui lore dump, the crown/hat piece known as the "Mocking Mask" is dedicated to the one who laughs at the world, The Jester, Pierro. It states that he is the first Fatuus or the first Fatui. NOT The 1st Harbinger, but instead, the first ever Fatui. @@ItsJustT lol yeah I saw that comment! I fully agree with them too. It’s really frustrating considering how the Fatui are our main villains but Hoyoverse doesn’t want to actually build upon their potential as an actual threating and powerful organization but instead take the easy route and make them “not all that bad” ugh 🙃

@@kawaiibeans1128 I think it's because they don't know the difference between depth and morality. That's why I think their approach to the Fatui will change in Natlan since it's Capitano who I doubt has very much depth. They shouldn't of made Arlecchino passive though. As you can tell in the video, I loved how Childe and Scaramouche are anomalies to their peers, but I didn't want anymore than that. Having one harbinger who you're friends with and one that left creates world building and variety, but now Arlecchino is in the mix. It might just be how unstable the Fatui is, but I don't feel intimidated

To be honest, there isn't enough words in the English language to handle the hatred I have for the way the Fatui are written. I have a similar hatred for Traveler's writing. Because, in my opinion, Genshin fails both.
They underutilize the Abyss for god knows why (they aren't even used properly in Fontaine when we do get that back after ages if not in an AQ). There is too much going on in the story to truly focus on them, but when we do in TRAVELER'S Quests, everything else has the worth of frick all because "save Sibling and leave Teyvat".
Like, seriously. Traveler is SO bland. There is no point or reason to do what they do. Its a joke they get dragged around everywhere & everything is there problem to fix. To the point where when we aren't the focus (Fontaine), the writer's don't know what to do with them. They get shoe horned in for an excuse to make the plot go by. Self inserts are lazy writing when utilized in this poor manner. A story like Genshin needs a main character, but Hoyoverse writers try to say everyone is a main character (which fails utterly, there are too many).
And that brings me to the Fatui. We are 5/7 on regions. There are 12 Harbringers. As if they will be more than a caricature or stereotype. All 12 cannot be fleshed out. I doubt all 12 will do much unless they are our enemy to fight. A main character needs an antagonist to beat! They keep either killing them too earlier (Signora) or redeeming them (Childe, Wanderer), or being wishy washy so an older character using their title is evil, but they are not (Arlecchino) so the Traveler won't be mad. The writing will be so bad in Snezhaya if its "actually, we are not the bad guys". Yeah, no hecking kidding. The Abyss should be! But where, oh where, have they gone?
I swear this is my biggest contention point with Genshin. Even with the writing improving, they still cannot commit to anything. I understand the appeal of morally gray things, I just don't thing every story fits having one. Not everything in life can wishy washy or half assed, so I don't think Genshin should be either. But here we are. On a burning train heading to the Tsaritsa, who in my opinion will be their biggest writing fluke or their biggest writing success. If fanservice, then, they'll probably survive somehow, but that feels weak when they can't get their act together writing things out for who they consider a main character.
Genshin is a very frustrating game.
Thanks for reading my rant. These are just my views & opinions, not an attack (I feel very passionate typing out my thoughts so just wanted to make that clear).
I hope things continue to get better, but they have already messed up. I just hope there is enough time left for them to fix things.

I don't think Childe was ever particularly redeemed. When the job calls for it, he will fight or even kill the Traveler, as shown in Liyue. He's just not always required to do so as it's strictly business. Though I agree with alot of what you've said, and I'm glad you could express yourself. ♥️

Just wasn’t redeemed? Where did that happen? He’s just a grey area of morality, but more moral than the others.

    • @bloody4558
      @bloody4558 11 месяцев назад +2

@@ItsJustT Of course he hasn't been redeemed, he never needed redemption in the first place. The story makes it very clear that the whole purpose of his plan was for it to fail. Childe himself tells you that, he wants Liyue to be saved, because drowning it has never been in his plans. Then comes Zhongli and Signora, and we learned that this was THEIR plan all along. And we Know Zhongli was the real one behind his plan because he has been personally teaching Childe all about liyue. Even Childe's knowledge about the seal came straight from Zhongli, which means that Zhongli has been manipulating him into freeing Osial from the very beginning.
More importantly, when asked about it, Zhongli states that Osial was already on the verge of freeing himself anyway, and that he was already planning on releasing the seal himself so that he can reapply it. That is precisely the reason why he manipulated Childe into doing it alongside Signora. He just took the chance to test the Qixing's competence because he knows he won't be there for Liyue forever. All in all, Childe never even dreamed on destroying Liyue, it was never in his plans, and Zhongli himself is the culprit behind the whole event in the first place, more importantly, an event that was already happenining even if no one had gotten involved in it.

@@bloody4558 I think the fact Zhongli manipulated him says something, still. He also did go fully out on the Traveler in phase 3 of his fight, alongside still technically manipulating the traveler, regardless of intentions.
