khali - When I was a teenager I was very worried by preaching about hell, torment, fear, being thrown into the fire. It appeared to emphasis domination, power, control, dictatorship, laws, condemnation.
Jesus came with humbleness, brokeness, washing the deciples feet, healing, being kind and gentle. He commanded love, he encouraged patience, forgiveness, giving, good works. He spoke of the 2nd death, destruction, perishing, but mainly about being one with the Father.

May Allah rewards you Brother Yusuf...Ameen Ya Rabb.
Islam is one of the world's largest religions yet it is also one of the most misunderstood. For various reasons - be they political, economic, biased media or fear of the "other" - mistruths and misconceptions have been spread about Islam. The key to understanding Islam and Muslims is to resist stereotypes and examine each situation according to Islamic teachings and authentic sources.
Misconception 1 - "Muslims Do Not Share Good and Noble Values with non-Muslims"
"The best among you are those who have the best manners and character." - Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
Some people allege that Islamic values are somehow incompatible with decent "Western" values. Such claims could not be further from the truth.
Muslims cherish noble and universal values such as:
    being honest and just
    keeping one's word
    allowing freedom of religion
respecting parents, relatives, neighbours, and the elderly
being charitable, generous, and looking after the poor and needy
not lying, cheating, swearing or backbiting anyone
Muslims are required to contribute positively towards society and to always conduct themselves with the highest of morals and best of actions.
Misconception 2 - "Muslims Worship a New God Called Allah"
Muslims worship the same God worshipped by Prophets Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus. The word "Allah" is simply the Arabic word for Almighty God - an Arabic word of rich meaning, denoting the one and only God. Allah is also the same word that Arabic speaking Christians and Jews use to refer to God.
However, although Muslims, Jews and Christians believe in the same God (the Creator), their concepts regarding Him differ significantly. For example, Muslims reject the idea of God having any partners or being part of a 'trinity', and ascribe perfection only to God, the Almighty.
Misconception 3 - "Islam Permits Terrorism"
The media generally portrays any Muslim who fights as a terrorist, regardless of whether they fight justly or unjustly, or whether they are oppressing others or being oppressed.
In war, the targeting of innocent non-combatants is a despicable act which Islam clearly prohibits. In fact, Muslims are not allowed to destroy plants and animals unnecessarily, let alone innocent humans. However, it is important to distinguish between terrorism and legitimate resistance to occupation, as the two are very different.
The Quran clearly demonstrates the seriousness of killing an innocent person, and emphasises the value of human life.
"If anyone murders an innocent person, it will be as if he has murdered the whole of humanity. And if anyone saves a person it will be as if he has saved the whole of humanity."Quran 5:32
Misconception 4 - "Islam Oppresses Women"
In Islam, men and women are viewed as equals before God, in terms of both receiving equal reward and accountability for their actions. The only thing that distinguishes people in the sight of God is their level of piety.
"Verily the most honourable of you in the sight of Allah is the most God conscious."Quran 49:13
This verse proves that real honour and status is not attained because a person is rich or poor, black or white, male or female, but attained through piety and devoutness.
Allah, the Creator of both genders, has assigned different roles and responsibilities for each, taking into account their differences. Women are given the utmost respect and honour, such as the right to equal pay, choice of spouse, pursuit of education, and the right to divorce and inheritance.
Unfortunately, there are some Muslim women who are oppressed and not given their rights. This is not the fault of Islam. The problem is that in some countries, people follow certain cultural practices and traditions which have nothing to do with Islam.
Misconception 5 - "The Quran is Just another History or Poetry Book"
The Quran is the divine literal word of God Almighty, revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), through the angel Gabriel. It is a criterion for the truth, containing guidance for humanity to live by. The Quran cites lessons from preceding generations and the history of the Prophets in order that we may learn from their experiences. It further teaches us about ourselves and our Creator, as well as the purpose of our existence which is to acknowledge God, worshipping Him alone.
God did not create humans to simply wander aimlessly. The test of one's faith is in using one's intellect, free will and reasoning abilities to contemplate and recognise God's signs - one of the greatest signs being The Quran.
The Quran contains within it many miracles, so that we can have no doubt about its authenticity. The best way to discover what the Quran is actually about, is to read it for yourself.
Misconception 6 - "Hijab is Oppressive"
To observe the hijab, Muslim women are required to modestly cover their body with clothes that do not reveal their figure in front of non-closely related males. However, hijab is not just about outer appearances; it is also about noble speech, modesty, and dignified conduct.
Although there are many benefits of the hijab, the key reason Muslim women observe hijab is because it is a command from Allah (God), and He knows what is best for His creation.
The hijab empowers a woman by emphasising her inner spiritual beauty, rather than her superficial appearance. It gives women the freedom to be active members of society, while maintaining their modesty.
The hijab does not symbolize suppression, oppression or silence. Rather, it is a guard against degrading remarks, unwanted advances and unfair discrimination. So the next time you see a Muslim woman, know that she covers her physical appearance, not her mind or intellect.
Misconception 7 - "All Muslims are Arabs"
Only about 20% of Muslims in the world are Arabs, meaning that up to about 80% of Muslims are non-Arabs. For example, there are more Indian and Indonesian Muslims than Arab Muslims. Islam teaches that an individual is not superior to another because of race or colour, and is strictly against any form of racism. Islam has a universal message for all of mankind - that is, that everyone can gain peace and success only by acknowledging and worshipping the One True God.
Misconception 8 - "Jihad is Terrorism"
The essence of Jihad is to struggle and sacrifice for one's religion in a manner which is pleasing to God. Linguistically, it means to "struggle" and can refer to one's striving to do good deeds, give charity, or to join an Islamic military action. The most commonly known form is the military Jihad which is permitted in order to preserve the well being of society, to prevent oppression from spreading, and to promote justice. This can be either defensive or offensive, depending on the circumstance.
Misconception 9 - "Muslims Worship Muhammad or the Moon God"
Yet another misconception is that Muslims worship Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This is entirely untrue, and is easily refuted by the actual saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him): "Do not over-praise me as the Christians over-praised Jesus, the son of Mary. I am His slave, so refer to me as 'God's slave and Messenger.' "
Islam teaches Muslims to respect all of God's Prophets and Messengers - but respecting and loving them does not mean worshipping them.
A related claim is that Muslims worship the "moon God" which is also totally incorrect. Worshipping the moon, or anything other than Allah, is strictly prohibited in Islam:
"Do not prostrate to the sun or to the moon, but prostrate to Allah Who created them, if you really worship Him."Quran 41:37
Islam acknowledges the complete perfection, greatness and uniqueness of God with absolutely no compromises. He is the Most Just and the Most Merciful. Worshipping Him alone is the most important belief in Islam, as mentioned in the Quran in numerous places.

Persian legends of Mithras says that He was born of the Sun God and a virgin mother, called "the Mother of God", on December 25th. They saw him as a symbol of justice, truth, and loyalty. He was considered the saviour of humankind, and stories abound of His healing the sick, raising the dead, and performing miracles (making the blind see and the lame walk). Throughout His lifetime, He was seen as a protector of human souls

The right of your neighbour is that you guard him when he is absent honour him when he is present, and aid him when he is wronged. You do not pursue anything of his that is shameful; if you know of any evil from him, you conceal it. If you know that he will accept your counsel, you counsel him in that which is between him and you. You do not forsake him in difficulty You release him from his stumble, you forgive his sin, and you associate with him generously. And there is no strength save in God

    "Islam means peace"
Imagine riping the heart out of a person and putting in a programmed insult generator.
All the inner conflict has gone, all is quiet. Continual repetitive prayer, day and night.
You are pure, you wash away sins, you show honour to God so he loves you, maybe.
Slowly all the creative aspects of life drop away, a dull methodical view of life becomes reality. As one man, an insult causes great anger, you rise to stamp out the blasphemer.
You are a hammer, a tool, a robot.

Islam - turned ascetism with love and forgiveness
Mohammed had love in his life, and exercised it with many people.
Muslims do many good things, share, try to help those around them.
What touched me was a muslim woman who wanted to help her friend with her problems, felt overwhelming love in her heart and spoke words God gave her. She was shocked when the Lord told her he was Jesus.
I found it hard as a child to think Jesus could be the only way to life, but now I know it is true, that simple

Muhammad died in 632 A.D. He died as a result of being poisoned following his attack upon and conquest of the Jewish settlement of Khaibar. About 2 month before his attack on Khaibar Muhammad failed in an attempt to go to Mecca. This failure resulted in the Treaty of Hudaybiyya with the Meccans. He returned humiliated in the eyes of the Meccans and in the minds of his people. To lift their defeated spirit, Muhammad told his followers that the events at Hudaybiyya were really a victory.

One simple point I want to convey to you, Islam is not a western way of thinking.
We strive for clarity, single definitions, reducing things to their simplest points so the exact meaning of the words, message can be clearly understood and acted upon.
Islam strives for the opposite. It wants to obscure and slander its enemies and bind its followers to blindly follow the current religious leaders of the faith today
No muslim statement should be taken at face value, it always means something else

Many christians have given up their lives as acts of love for others.
Man is so lost, he does not trust at such a fundemental level, sometimes it is only through the ultimate sacrifice that the meaning to Jesus's love breaks through.
In a real spiritual sense, christians are just stepping over into the eternal kingdom, demonstrating to them love conquers all.

And please remember, we are talking about 2500 more or less years ago so a man marrying 100 wives was just normal at that time. Do not compare it to today. So let's see the full verse how God loves David

The first type of love that Islam calls for is the Love of Allah, praise be to Him. This love makes you avoid committing sins in order not to make whom you love, Allah, get angry with you. This love also urges you to contemplate all the different aspect of nature that usually lead you to have a deeper faith in the Creator who created all this beauty round us.
The second type of love is the love of Prophet Muhammad
The third type of love is human love

You’ve elegantly demonstrated the difference between Allah and Jesus, the one true God never leaves his children, and they never go astray, the Qur’an says that God loves not those, whom the Bible says God loved so much that he was willing to give up the perfect life he lived to bring us into fellowship with him.

    khali -
If my neighbour was a pedophile abusing young people, I need to speak out and get the authorities involved.
If he sins against me, then I need to forgive him, just as the Lord forgives me.
If he asks for advice, I would provide my point of view as I would to anyone I meet.
If I see a need where I can help, I will offer such help.
Oddly islam says if your neighbour is an non-believer I should not be friends with him, or share with him, but keep my heart in hatred of his life as an enemy

    Dear readers,
The murder of a soldier in Woolwich raises the question, why? Who is pushing this agenda? A muslim suggested the problem is literalist Wahhabi Islam.
If you think this is really the issue, you have to discuss this within the community.
Do you want Islam to survive or do you already know it is such a big mirage, once you start to look in detail at the facts, you know it does not work?
What matters more loving your neighbour and yourself or your faith?
    I choose love over faith

  • @JKZok

This may sound like preaching, but this is just part of my life.
Jesus comes to me and says, "You are loved, as you are, in your lostness.
You are accepted, you are found precious and beautifull."
The issue is repenting, accepting our failure and learning again how to walk.
The foundation needs to be love, openness, self honesty.
After many years no part of my life is not effected and changed.
Jesus wanted to build a kingdom of people who are free and love from the heart, that simple.

I gave an argument for that; the Nicaea Creed was signed by all, but two bishops and Arius showing that the Trinity was very widely accepted. You’re going to have to do more than simply assert your position if you’re going to convince anyone.
These are Gnostic Gospels which came out of the second-third centenary onward; these are widely recognised as forgeries.

What is the difference between slavery in Jesus and slavery in Islam?
Jesus was interested not in political transformation but the transformation of the heart through love setting you free.
Islam is about submission to law, external, pious observance which changes who you are.
Christians have always been about love building a new society and structures, not about revolution or destruction. It has not worked through yet, but love is getting there in our society like never before...

Life is about family, washing up, helping people, loving your neighbour, bringing harmony. It is anger, violence, ripping change born out of hatred that spreads evil.
It is easier to rip than build, to complain than do good. Islam is focused on criticsm and destruction, the enemy than on building something eternal.

At what point does a murderer become a murderer
    1. When he gets angry?
    2. When he hits his enemy?
    3. When he kills his enemy?
If a man felt himself perfect, the best example, peaceful, a prophet, does his ability to not see when he becomes a hypocrite defile all the good things he brought?
How is it "pure" muslims are happy to follow this example, and the faith is incapable of showing up their sin to their conscience or sense of right and wrong?
    Because Islam destroys this sense.....

The council of Nicaea dealt primarily with the issue of the deity of Christ. Over a century earlier the use of the term "Trinity" could be found in the writings of Origen (185-254) and Tertullian (160-220), and a general notion of a "divine three", in some sense, was expressed in the second century writings of Polycarp, Ignatius, and Justin Martyr.

Muhammad preached 13 years faith which was so obvious out of 50,000 people he got 200 converts leaving for Medina 623 ad
Mo returned to Mecca 6 years later with an army of 10,000 and in one day made 50,000 converts by the sword.
Now what do you think was the deciding factor, the sword or the force of the faith?
The jewish tribes who asked Mo to go to Medina he betrayed, exiled or executed.

So, here in this verses I see no sin but only God's love and blessings upon David, whom He call His prophet with His own words. Thanks to God for this great creation of His.
The only problem here is that he fell in love and asked the hand of this girl.
He never committed adultry, or murder of any kind as the old Jews blamed him with. He asked her hand from her husband who divorced her and David got married who later gave him Salomon as another great blessing from God.

Think if the Prophet would have uttered a single word you keep vomiting out:
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr: "The Prophet never used bad language neither a 'Fahish nor a Mutafahish. He used to say 'The best amongst you are those who have the best manners and character.' b4 - "Trinity is poisoning you"
As a muslim you have a problem seeing sin, or what is wrong in the world.
There in the end are only two kingdoms, one of love and one of domination.
"Blessed are the pure in heart they will see God"
Muhammed believed this idea but through piety would purify who he was. It did not work, Aisha, war, murder, theft etc followed. He rejected Jesus and followed domination, violence and terror.
Death is the only result, poisoned by an enemy

Misconception 10 - "Islam Permits Forced Marriages"
Arranged marriages are cultural practices which are predominant in certain countries throughout the world. Although not restricted to Muslims, forced marriages have become incorrectly associated with Islam.
In Islam, both males and females have the right to choose or reject their potential spouse, and a marriage is considered null and void if a woman's genuine approval is not granted prior to the marriage.
Misconception 11 - "Islam Forces People to Become Muslim"
God says, "Let there be no compulsion in religion. Truth has been made clear from error." Quran 2:256
Although it is a duty on Muslims to convey and share the beautiful message of Islam to others, no one can be compelled to accept Islam. To accept Islam, a person must sincerely and voluntarily believe and obey God, so, by definition, no one can (or should) be forced to accept Islam.
    Consider the following:
Indonesia has the largest Muslim population yet no battles were fought to bring Islam there.
There are around 14 million Arab Coptic Christians that have been living in the heart of Arabia for generations.
Islam is one of the fastest growing religions in the western world today.
Although fighting oppression and promoting justice are valid reasons for waging jihad, forcing people to accept Islam is not one of them.
Muslims ruled Spain for around 800 years yet never coerced people to convert.

She told him "I thought, If you are a prophet God will save you, if you are not then God will save us" so he forgave her. But then the disciple died so she was tried and sentenced.

Muslim argument against critics - People who critise hate.
Now some may hate, some may not, but it is the argument that matters. If you argue that the argument does not matter, you have abandoned you own position and said defending anything is merely calling the other person a hater.
Is this what Islam is? A fist fight because the argument has already been lost?
I think it is, because I know the argument has been lost by muslims and so do they, but the tears that flow are too hard to face

Jesus laid down his life beneath roman hands.
"Greater love has no man but that he lays down his life for his friends."
When Jesus told his disciples he had to die, they had to drink his blood and eat his flesh, many left him, because they found this too hard. In one sense this is spiritually unusual, but this is the nature of love itself, to show sacrifical love for someone while bearing the pain of such a gesture.
How could you tell the love was real unless the price was also real?

    1. Jesus a prophet brings the message of God to man
    2. Jesus the Son shows his relationship to the Father
    3. Jesus being God shows his authority and nature
A man is a son, a brother, a father, has a skill of work, is a husband who loves his wife.
It was Jesus and the Father who defined that he had to die.
In one act he forgave all mans sins, showed his heart of love and sacrifice and opened up the way for those who believed to become children of the living God. Only the Lord could do this

Islam - There is a pride within Islam which says we should show our faith on the outside.
The question is what are people showing. Intolerance, hatred, violence, domination, rejection. They believe by showing their dedication they attract more people.
In reality all they are attracting is more analysis and understanding of the ethics and reality behind the faith.
It has no moral strength or sense, merely a blind following of written law dictated by scholars. It does not work, simple

    cen - A few observations
    1. You are quoting with a great deal of certainty based on hadiths which others give a different time-line to
    2. The story reported implies he suffered greatly for 3-4 years and finally died from the poison.
    3. The hadith recording his words near dying are that he felt he was being killed by God.
Now this is what the words say and I am implying an obvious meaning.
Your version is ignoring the record. This is certainly your opinion, but I have just as valid another
