This is incredibly detailed and informative...Though I fear a visit from ShyGuy in your very near future *ShUdDeR* Also had no idea the Honey Comb spawns bees upon damage, Nor that the Hive Pack effect the Hornet minion, Both very good bits of info to of learned!
He has no reason to fear criticism because this video is actually (very) well researched unlike a lot of others that are straight up filled with misinformation lol.

how haven't you seen kepples from the hit (not really) series; survivor terraria (i feel like "haven't you seen" is a wrong phrase, someone, correct me if this is actually wrong)
I kinda wish we had a variation of the hive pack for hard mode, one that could work with the Wasp Gun among other things, because i remember really enjoying using hive pack with bees knees and sometimes bee gun because it's just really fun to shoot an army of bees at enemies Very underappreciated accessory and i wish they kinda change it's immunity frame system to buff it with melees and in general lol
A lot of the Expert mode items are super underwhelming tbh, but Hive Pack definitely stands out for its incredibly specific use case. I didn't have the hard numbers but I already suspected the bees would interfere quite significantly with your damage due to the way piercing damage sources work in this game, so I figured it'd only be good if you're banking on bees as your main damage source, which is only realistic if you're spamming beenades on WoF or Skeletron. I guess there's not much point in putting work into Expert-exclusive boss drops but it'd be pretty neat if the more obscure pre-HM items could at least get some progression into HM, if they already can't have generically powerful effects like Worm Scarf or Shield.
I think it would be great to have an added effect for the Hive Pack: a double jump functioning the same as the ones from Rocket Boots. It would actually make the player consider going for a bee build for the double jump, since they are in all cases outclassed by other weapons.
Some insight on why a number of weapons get a much smaller DPS gap with a damage build: the bees themselves face a downside from being big, their greater pierce. Piercing projectiles don't apply immunity frames on their last hit, so small bees deal 9 hits per second while large bees only deal 8. Against high defense targets, big bees still give more DPS due to their better damage, but as armor penetration and damage multipliers increase (and especially if defense reaches 0), big bees start losing their edge entirely. A Ruthless Bee Gun with 9% damage bonus or Mythical with 20% damage bonus (Ruthless rounds up damage while Mythical rounds down due to shenanigans, given how often the thing reaches the limit I'd say Ruthless is better) should start to deal more damage without the hive pack than with when fired on a target with 0 defense. In practice, big bees and the greater number of bees are useful against Skeletron due to hands and high defense even with necklaces, and better tracking probably helps too. I'd expect a different story against Deerclops, though.
Hive pack sometime not worth and sometime worth. For melee against a skeletron, the hive five is really good option but you have to sacrifice one accessory slot for hive pack but still worth it. Same for ranger when using Bees knee against skeletron and beenade against wof if you want safety strategy. Unlike bee gun, there's better weapons for it, Demon scythe and gray zapinator are much better and no need to sacrifice one accessory slot for hive pack. And for hornet, the 2 Flinx, 2 frog and 1 imp is still the best combo and you also don't need to sacrifice a slot for hive pack.
The Hive Pack is so good and I don't see why anyone wouldn't like if you're using a bee weapon. It's so good that if you're ever using a bee weapon in hardmode, I would even go as far to say as to replace your emblum with it. Its a nessecary for any bee based weapon.
Does this mean that if in a multiplayer game multiple players use bee focused weapons they could actually be hurting other players' damage due to i frames?
Just tested this, and i-frames seem to be separated by player. So as an example if one player uses the Bee Gun with the Hive Pack for example, the other players can still use any of their weapons with no change in damage or issue whatsoever!
While it can reduce us high-level min-max players, if you're playing theme over min-max, making a Bee-themed character makes it a requirement. Like MANY items, it's meant for specific builds and more for fun than function
This was extremely well made and informative, good video Im not the biggest fan of Hive Pack conceptually because when it comes down to it, its just an alternative Avenger emblem that only very few weapons benefit from
It's actually from ror, not ror2! Still quite like ror2 music and prob will feature that in videos too eventually. This comment also reminded me that I never added the music in the description like I usually do...
I mean if you haven't explored the underground jungle after king slime, royal gel stops those pesky spiked jungle slimes from shooting at you allowing you to kill them with ease!
Hive Pack being able to possibly reduce DPS makes me question reality & further grows my hatred for the i-frames system in this game
The system is good in theory, but was implemented so poorly
Yo no way shyguymask I'm a huge fan of your vids especially the terraria no arrows keys
I mean, reworking it now might change the game too much that the balance breaks completely, ESPECIALLY for mods
Just mod em out that'd fix it
@Horbiflorbin You'd just have to move from global to static and nerf the affected weapons and accessories accordingly

Love it when someone makes a high detailed and effort video on a accessory that I will never use (boomstick superior)
But the bees
@MilkBake blame the hornets for ptsbre

Iirc only per-projectile-type (static) immunity frames are shared between players, and maybe not even those

Global I-frames literally have NO reason to exist in Terraria. 😭
this man does NOT miss.
This dude needs waaay more views
And why would you use other weapons with beegun or beebow or beenade?
Choose one, and others wont block you attacks
So what you're saying is... if I use it I can lower other people's damage?
Unfortunately for that scenario it only affects your own damage, since it doesn't change anything about others damage
if the next update don't fix it, i aint terraria next year
Relogic needs to change this on Terraria 2, that i-frame thing is just tomfoolery
Whatever... go my -scarab- bee
very good content you have done a good job
Haven't really cared about this thing before but now I kinda do ngl
Interesting...
Now surely nobody would make a mod, or ask red, to fix it... because nobody uses the hive pa-
From my personal experience, the Hornet staff + hive pack is better than imp staff
Yes. The imps are slow and shouldn't be the only minions summoned in a group.
nice video 🔥
For when you get it, the hive pack is kinda mid. It’ll get outclassed super quickly.

Just make bee i-frames not global!!!
Please dont use the music from that car game. It is HORRIBLE
