    Breathing produces large quantities of CO2. Bedrooms typically reach 1000 ppm, same with occupied living rooms. Have the air intake to your grow from whichever room is occupied the most during growling hours!

    on some message boards I read about slow drip for vinegar in to baking soda. I threw together a drip setup yesterday that seems to work very well. I hung it by the intake for my flower tent. it dripped for the whole lights on cycle.
    so I took a small 50ml empty bottle with a dropper built in the lid. took the lid apart, put it back together so the dropper tube sticks outside the bottle instead of inside. then I cut a length of a plastic straw. one end goes inside the glass dropper tube. the other end should reach into the bottle.
    I fill this bottle with vinegar, when I put it upside down then the straw lets air in, the vinegar drips out very slowly. I cut rough edge around the end of the plastic straw, this way it would not form a seal against the glass dropper tube.
    ok obviously this goes upside down above a container with some baking soda. then I just top up the vinegar bottle. so far so good... oh yeah. the little rubber nipple for the dropper bottle, I cut the tip off this so the straw could go thru it... but the nipple stays on as it forms the seal on the bottle still

    I just added a small co2 generator to my grow , was the best decision I’ve made ! Cost me about 400cad to get it all done in a 10x15 room . Would have cost 1000ish to get a tank set up . And running costs are much cheaper than filling co2 tanks . Costs about 75 to fill co2 where I’m at and 10$ to fill propane

    This would be far more helpful IF the charts were accurate. I’ve been growing for decades. In our greenhouse you won’t find CO2 peeking at 400ppm all the way past 1200 and beyond as in his chart. We keep the humidity low, fans on med., CO2 @ 1000, temps in 80-90 degree range, use ladybugs and introduce natural things in your grow and always avoid pesticides.letting your plants dry up between watering avoids mold and mildew. These are growing techniques I learned from my Dad who grew up on a farm, was a Master Grower and happily pass these on to you fellow growers, who may have less experience. Lastly remember: A Farmer is a man Outstanding in his field.

      Letting the soil dry out between watering does help reduce pests but it also contributes to the death of important microbes and beneficial fungi in the soil that help the plants absorb nutrients.

    Thank you for this video. I brew mead (honey wine) and I have all my fermenters set up right outside my 4x4 tent w/ 1000w hps light. When the light comes on, a fan pulls the CO2 from the brews into the grow tent. I think it helps, but even if it doesn’t, I’ve got mead when I’m done.

    I've been doing some research and there is a lot of information that goes both ways for and against using additional CO2. Then I had an epiphany, I was unsure whether additional CO2 would do anything but then I realized that some aquarium plants for Shrimp tanks, require CO2. Therefore it makes sense that if you provide additional CO2 you get better growth, mainly because there are plants in freshwater aquariums that will not grow at all without CO2 Supplementation.

    Why not water my plants with soda water? Then I'd be delivering carbonated water directly to the roots which would also aerate the soil. I'm thinking of getting a Soda Stream machine dedicated for this, so I'd pH the water and add nutrients, and then add the bubbles. What do you say Lex?

  • @Michael-s2p3p
    @Michael-s2p3p 2 года назад

    Some growers on RUclips push higher CO2 levels (1400-1500) with higher ppfd and higher temps for higher yields. Higher CO2 concentrations are too expensive with tanks, you need a propane generator. Small spaces can be temp controlled easily as you note, with double hosed portable ACs in the tent.

    Thoughts on basic stuff like Xhale bags?
    I have a big room with multiple tents in it. I do the humidity and temp control in the room therefore the fresh air coming into tents counter balances the tents. Works great for me. I am not that experienced, but have been thinking about doing the same with CO2. Creating a PPM of CO2 in the room, so that the fresh air into tents is already co2 charged. My tents exhaust out the room. Thusly making the air flow through tent high in CO2.
    Was hoping to get opinions on that kind of setup? Essentially the room the tents are in are lungs.

    • @LexBlazer
      @LexBlazer  6 лет назад +1

      Xhale bags are an ok product I've heard of before; I've just never used it myself. Any time you want to exhaust CO2 though from space to space you gotta make sure you're giving the plants time to absorb it before it gets pushed out of the room. What you're describing will probably work....but you'll need a monitor to carefully calibrate it.

    So since CO2 levels in the athmosphere are rising, this should help outdoor grows right?
    Until we reach the point of 1800-2000ppm, then we should be really worried, because plants wont grow anymore?

    • @LexBlazer
      @LexBlazer  6 лет назад +2

      Nobody knows what an atmosphere with 1800 ppm of CO2 is like...that's never happened in modern humanity's lifetime. Unfortunately what's filling the atmosphere in terms of pollutants is more than just CO2...and it's a poor idea to play this game to the point where you should be really worried.

    Okay, in a small grow tent (anything less than 5x5) where you are introducing CO2 in any form. Isn't it (Co2) heavy? I mean, if you are exhausting from above ( like most setup i seen), and even if youa re spreading it more with a fan, co2 is heavier than Oxygen. Won't it cover your plants way before it is sucked out?

    Hi Lex! Can you help me to calculate how much last a 20 lbs co2 tank for a 3*3*8 feet indoor garden? The lights will be on 12 hs per day and the co2 PPM that i want to reach is 1200. Thank you very much.

    • @ConsciusVeritasVids
      @ConsciusVeritasVids 5 лет назад +1

      3x3x8 = 72 cubic feet.
      72 cu.ft x 0.0012 (desired CO2 level in ppm) = 0.0864 cubic feet of CO2 needed to raise the level inside the area to 1,200 ppm.
      CO2 needed (0.0864 cu.ft) / flow rate (let's go with a medium flow of 0.08 cu.ft / min) = the regulator will need to be open for 1.08 minutes to raise CO2 to 1,200 ppm.
      A 20 lb cylinder holds 175 cubic feet of CO2. At 100% air exchange every 2 hours on average you will use 0.0864 cu.ft of CO2 every 2 hours, or about 0.0432 cu.ft per hour. Using 0.0432 cu.ft per hour and 12 hours of daylight you will use about 0.5184 cubic feet per day.
      This means a 20 lb tank should last about 337 days.

    • @captainchrisfishing

      Would not last 337 days
