Your are also right! I commented that with a friend and she said: "well, they are doing the right thing now"! And my reply was: "well, so the Church is doing what everybody else have done all the time" I could never vote for Mr. Obama.
They took care of my aunt in palatine,I'll St Joseph. And gave her loving. Care every so thankful to them. For that And like they say. We're with her to the end. And could not do enough for her. Thank you sisters
Send this video to the white house, congress, senate and all involved. Didn't our President show pictures recently of children perishing in Syria? Pictures and videos get the point across like nothing else. We have a Little Sisters in our city--wonderful, wonderful bunch of committed and caring Sisters! The home is clean, and beautifully kept--the most important thing is they are with the residents when they are dying--singing and praying!
I'm Catholic and I didn't vote for any of this. Perhaps it's because I am an informed Catholic. I was disgusted with the way most Catholics voted. It's not social justice if it has a negative effect for people and Obamacare is negative on so many levels.
please watch...I cried when I was watching...in part because I had the privilage of walking in the shoes of the little sisters of the poor for a while..and in doing so...seeing Gods face...in the patients I cared for...
And it's because they don't discriminate and serve people of ALL FAITHS (including atheists) they are punished. Way to go, HHS. You wouldn't know what good work for real people is if it hit you with a bat.
Dear Technical, I was an atheist daughter of an atheist. Nevertheless, me and my Dad would have supported and admired institutions such as this, as would have most of those we knew who believed like us. We were opposed to utilitarianism. As a client and an RN in the UK's NHS, I never had to include government and insurance requirements in my patient care plan. It horrifies me that corporate America is in charge America's health. You should download 'The Jaffe Memo' to see why
No, the should send everybody "home" and let the Government take care of the elderly! They can even take them to the homes of the different people that criticize the Sisters. One elderly per house! And then, they can keep supporting the Obamacare Plan!
I think that you can apply for a job and check if they offer everything you want or need. If they don't you should go some place else and you should not force the employers to give what they can't due to religious believe or just because they can not pay for it! They should check the houses of the individuals that say they can not afford Insurance and you will see 52" TV's and a lot more of things that I don't have in my house. But I pay for my private health insurance!
Again, no one has ever shown how the bible says that an organization providing partial payment for health insurance is somehow a sin or otherwise forbidden. You as an individual make your own choices and can use or not use various health services as your conscience allows.
Don't force others purchase something they don't want. Don't extort money from others to pay for what you want. Feed and help the poor, don't force others to do so at the point of a government gun.
You know, throughout history and even still in some places in the middle east you had to pay a special tax or a fine to be allowed to be Christian. I never thought I'd see the day when the same thing was required to practice a faith in the United States.
YOU HAVE NOT SEEN NOTHING YET!!! I, of course want to live a long healthy life at 70. But, I do not envy the young. What the will have to go through, has not crossed their minds, nor yours! Think outside yourself.
This organization means so much to me. I have started a campaign to raise funds for one of the homes in India, and will be starting one soon for the home in San Francisco, CA. please check this out and donate! The sisters are amazing people and have touched the lives of many. igg.me/at/helptheagedindia
One of my biggest concerns with socialism is that discards the idea that every individual is unique. It's a one-size-fits-all mentality that undermines the individuality of each person.
Thank the Lord SCOTUS found Obama’s mandate unconstitutional today and these kind, amazing folks can continue to bless the elderly and give them comfort as they grow older. 👍🏼🇺🇸
will the governmrent secret police arrest the sisters ? will they thorow the old people into the streets ? all in the name of compassion ?? where are the people who always talk about the separation of Church and state ???
Basically, they are there for helping the elderly when they are about to die. They are not there for religious activities. Why was not the greatest part of the law and it's one of the things that does need to be fixed in the law it can't be fixed by completely tearing everything apart.
Their purpose is a religious duty, and their staff (besides volunteers) is entirely religious. They assist the elderly find the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs that they require all the way up until their physical death, wherein they assure that the person has had their last rites (by a priest). What is not religious about that? These are religious activities nearly as equally as a church exists to provide sacraments.
Nowhere did I make any mention of the religious choices of the employees. They can do their great work and still follow the law about providing health insurance for employees. If they are under 50 employees, the government will help them pay for it. Notice the objections were not financial, they were religious, and I still challenge you to provide proof where the bible says an organization should not provide health insurance to their employees lest it be a sin.
I think the video speaks for itself. They're being political, or letting themselves be used for political ends. Asking those who exclude themselves from secular business to not participate is justified. But if you want to play the game, play by the rules.
Yes the real need is *social healthcare* so churches cannot keep using this as a tool to benefit their cause and people are free to choose a religious organization or not. How you ask, cut military spending and provide a single payer system for all American citizens. Coming from a Canadian nurse who works in the US.
Well, a guess if the Sisters don't do that, who will? Where are the family members of the elderly people the Sisters help? And, what make you think that "all employee are catholic"? The same way they accept all religious people, I am sure they accept "all religious employees". My main point is that lots of people say that they don't have money to pay for Health Insurance. But they do have enough money to buy luxury items! That's called: "priorities". Mine: H.Ins. theirs: 52" TV and kind of games
Hey sisters, go sisters, soul sisters, go sisters Hey sisters, go sisters, soul sisters, go sisters It is simple math...when Division means more to the White house then the Addition of Jobs & Opportunities you will only calculate a Null Value for all of those you propose top care for.
Wait I don't understand, what are they being forced to do? Why are they being threatened with fines? What is the government telling them to do that goes against their faith? I know this is old but I just saw it.
Obama’s healthcare mandate forced them to have insurance provide Birth Control to their employees. But a Catholic religious community, they believe that every human life is a gift from God from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death. So providing Birth Control or abortions to staff will go against their faith. They went to Supreme Court to fight it, and SCOTUS found the ruling unconstitutional.
+kevin murphy The Little Sisters are being asked to fill out a 2 page form for a religious exemption. Apparently....filling out paperwork is the work of Satan....and the Nuns can't do it.
Anyone with an once of character and honor would not require this organization to violate it's religious beliefs!! Why doesn't obama pick on the muslims instead?
Is there a religious test to determine who can or cannot work for the Little Sisters? If an atheist who uses abortion pills shares the passion for taking care of the elderly, can they work for the Little Sisters as admin, janitorial, etc. with the promise of adequate health insurance coverage that meets their personal needs?
Over my dead boby you would do that That is not right To That to the sisters How dare you do that to them We have freedom of religion in this country The Knights of Columbus Support You sisters All the way
First, you are an atheist. You define yourself by what you don't believe. That does't make you "mean", as you implied. The act of "not" believing doesn't make you anything by definition. And you say you are for the Affordable Care Act. Being for the idea of affordable care is one thing - but standing up unreservedly for the Affordable Care Act is a political decision not a compassionate, human decision. Humanism dehumanizes. Faith is a way of life - what is a "solely religious organization"?
Im sorry what? Sacrificing religious freedom? They didnt make it mandantory to take birth control mate! The only thing they have done is made it to where healthcare must provide it. Its not a religious thing, they are a company the same as any other and they are not exempt from the rules, like it or not.
The Little Sisters came to our church..they are little angels..I hate that they have to "beg".
My grandmother is at the facility in San Pedro......God Bless them for taking care of her!
You are right!

I'm not. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It applies to everything in life.
the government is cruel! This is inconceivable cruelty!
you can't just randomly change a Golden Rule "Do" into a "Don't" just because it suits your politics.
Thiis the place where I want to work and if am old I don't mind living and dying!
I'm Catholic and I didn't vote for any of this. Perhaps it's because I am an informed Catholic. I was disgusted with the way most Catholics voted. It's not social justice if it has a negative effect for people and Obamacare is negative on so many levels.

Do allow people to make the choices they feel best accomplishes their goals in life.
I'm pretty certain that the bible doesn't mention insurance as a sin, no matter what it covers.
We will overcome all things through Christ who strengthens us.

Thank you Jesus the LSP won, please send some of them to Romania

Home run video. I saw it on Kelly file. Very moving.

Let them serve

Sounds kind of like modern day Mother Theresa's.
Mother Theresa was not very nice. Do some research.
I belong to a church and volunteer, can I claim myself a church and not pay taxes then?

What I want to know, as a Catholic, where the hell is the Pope in this fight?
Yeah! How dare he try to provide people with health care! People should have the right to live without health care and die in a gutter!
let others get the insurance coverage they want and need just as they allow you do get the coverage you want and need?
I am mad

+kevin murphy Check out this website that explains more about the Little Sisters' case: thelittlesistersofthepoor.com/#littlesisters
+kevin murphy The Little Sisters are being asked to fill out a 2 page form for a religious exemption. Apparently....filling out paperwork is the work of Satan....and the Nuns can't do it.
+Martin Signer The HHS "opt out" option is pure bull. All it does is force them to provide the same services they object to but in a different way.
Alexis Longoria Scalia is dead....the sisters are fucked.
+Martin Signer Wow what a rational argument, I am blown away. Holy shit guys watch out we got a badass over here.
Can't the pope do something

It's time to tax the churches--all of them, no exceptions. These superstitious grifters have been subsidized by the rest of us for long enough.

Yes god! Save us from being able to have healthcare!
Comparing Hitler and Stalin to Obama is one of the most laughable things I have seen in quite some time.
