I think the fact that someone would ask that last question demonstrates a need to be more explicit when talking about evidence. Instead of saying "no evidence" one should say "the evidence suggests the contrary". They are subtly different.
How do you program your top set singles? Cause I regularly see singles with you and Austin, and I wonder if you just do it in a strength or peaking phase or if also on volume blocks, and how to you actually progress them. Awesome content as always, keep it up!
Singles are mostly @8 RPE or 92% of 1RM. Go through their Bridge program and programming podcasts. You'll get a better idea about their programming principles.
The first question should have been worded better, and I think the way you answered it was not intended by the asker. I think what the asker was intending was not whether volume should be generally low in a cut, we can all agree volume should be high, but rather should the high volume in a cut be lower relative to the hypertrophy volume in a bulk? This, I believe, was the intent.
Hey Jordan, you didn't link any studies, are you planning on doing so? I love reading the studies you post, in reality if you posted a citation for every conclusion you present that would be amazing, obvious an unrealistic amount of work though. I would love to see a reading list on the BBM website where you guys post relevant studies.
@@BarbellMedicine thanks! I'm serious about the reading list, as far as your goal of contributing to the proliferation of evidence based practice regarding exercise science/training, consolidating all that information in one place would be a huge step in the right direction. I know I struggle to find some studies that you guys base your work on, and I definitely put in effort in doing so. Maybe just not having access to pay wall study repositories like uptodate is my barrier, I only have access to publicly available stuff. I have been trying to get the clinical director at my facility(mental health) to get the therapists an uptodate license so I can selfishly read exercise studies haha. Edit: appreciate the super troopers reference
Jordan - would appreciate your thoughts on the Leangains approach to losing body fat while adding lean muscle mass through the use of 16:8 intermittent fasting. I"m having a hard time talking in 1gram of protein per pound of body weight. I'm losing the body fat rapidly, with about a .75% muscle mass added (as per the showing of the vanity planet scale that Alan Thrall reviewed) over 14 days. I'm 213lbs, male, 6'. I'm trying to limit my fats and maximize the protein intake in the 8 hr window. Are whey protein supplements a viable source of proteins? There's only so much chicken or beef I can eat...
The evidence does not support that IF does any better for fat loss, muscle gain, or compliance. Whey protein is a good source of protein, sure, but I don't love IF.
Thanks for the response. Interesting about the compliance. So far I’ve found the 16:8 split surprisingly easy to adhere to. Very little craving and totally avoid binging which has been a killer for me in the past. The use of coffee certainly helps. I don’t have the research citations at hand around IF but I had thought/assumed that there are some. I’ll be getting the book and will see. I started lifting using Starting Strength. I’m more about fat loss (25% body fat). At 46yrs old I saw my lifts rise rapidly but I didn’t want to raise body weight. I guess using ‘bro talk’ I want to change my body comp. would your service be amenable to my goals?
Not sure how you can claim that the amount of force you use to grip the bar is involuntary and cannot be adjusted. With any barbell exercise I do I can definitely consciously decide to squeeze as hard as I can or loosen up. "You have no choice" definitely does not describe whats going on there, unless you're getting philosophical and positing the "theres no such thing as true free will" argument.
Azorian36 anticipatory scaling will change how much force you’re exerting in the grip. You’re not in control, though sure you can modulate it a bit in a small range
+Barbell Medicine That's a hard sell on me. For the last two weeks I've been consciously adjusting between almost completely loose to white knuckling the bar so hard it feels like the knurling is going to tear through my skin. To describe this situation as "you have no choice" seems like there is a misunderstanding on what constitutes a choice.
Azorian36 when you are actually lifting the weight you don’t have a choice unless it’s very light. It’s pretty much the same no matter what. You’re conscious alternating isn’t actually doing anything.
I think the content produced by Barbell Medicine is outstanding. Another great video Dr. Feigenbaum.
Thanks dude!
I love how Leah is genuinely happy when you finish each set
I always think I don't need to watch all the forms checks...then you bring on Baraki! He is so handsome!
“The lipstick was applied” 😂😂my boy is a player
Jordon is gay, my man
slowfuse nah- though there’s nothing wrong with that either.
Who is Jordon and how do you know he is a gay man?
Thank you for your feed back, I will try to move the bar back. At least from my POV looking down the bar was over mid foot.
Fastest 42m video I've watched on the Tubes. Love the content.
Network TV!!! Way to go, Doc!!
Long femur, short torso, long arm crew checkin in. It’s a sacrifice, but someone has to have a monster deadlift
Mumble grumble
Thank you all so much for the information. Its been way over due
Ah! An appearance of Jordan’s barbell dingle dongles! And, an introduction of the barbell dingle dangles! 😆
30:13 "thank god" ahaha ~ oh yeah lighting aesthetic upgrades looking sharp!
It's great that you got some airtime but I think they could have asked more useful questions.
Thanks for your answer.

that girl bit her lower lip when they introduced Jordan xDDD

Hmm...I wonder if my local gym is ok with me taking a short nap between my squats and deadlifts?

My answer is for that exact question- no, I would not have lower volume.
Oh I see, thanks :)
Talk a bit about dialing in your vlog studio setup, looks amazing.
Thanks dude!

Yea I had to get back to my desktop. They're posted meow.

Do you have any cues to set the lower back better for long legged people like me? :(
Right bicep vein RPE 8ish

Hey, could post those sources ty.
Yep, just did!
Portrait? DON'T YOU MEAN LANDSCAPE? REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Ha, good catch. Oops.

28:50 , mah man asking the question is a logician haha. That form of fallacy only applies if both sides are not proven to be true or untrue.
Jordan! I've sent squat and deadlift videos at 4k through wetransfer, use them and stop with these 144p peons 🤣
OMG you're so handsome!
