I'm amazed now realizing how realistic the terrains actually are! Too many modern games sorely depends on HD textures but lacking destructible objects, let alone maps! Gaming industry needs a long way to go to bring back the glory days!
Epic game used to play this at the arcade:) last time I played it was on the ps 1 in 99:( im gunna buy an old arcade machine with 1200 games and both raidens are on it:) and the other clasics 1941 and 42
Have they fixed the bug that makes Raiden 1 and 2 play on the hardest difficulty evn if you select easier settings? I really want to play it on normal for a change :(
I played this in an arcade challenge before and became the highest top 1🥇record scorer in the tournament.😂👍 Best achievement I have thus far accomplished in my life.✨ Completed 3 loops, ended at 4th mission on level 3 with just 3 lives from start of game till the end. I ended the game with a score of 13, 793,710 points. The game version i played was exactly the same as this one. The only difference though was there were no 1UP bonuses offered as you play further along. So you get stuck with just the basic 3 lives all thoughout the game. And no rapid fire. (For all that was worth as an arcade challenge.) So technically, not to brag, and without offense to the player of this game, he had a handicap of multiple lives plus rapid fire over me. But still my congratulations and full respect to this player for a perfect smooth game well played! 🤝
@@lost_valley People who don’t understand do not know what real video gaming is all about and it’s complex player skills and stamina involved that will translate into becoming an excellent player.
+Helen Xandria No, they are about precision and reacting AND button mashing. A high APM player can take down the bosses in this game in particular much faster than a lower APM player. Using auto-fire cheapens the act of defeating them. (And this ignores that it's a MAME playthrough, as opposed to a JAMMA cabinet playthrough. The differences are subtle, but they're there.)
+Helen Xandria Well I think the idea is that no human can mash a button as fast as this autofire is set up, it really isn't possible to speedkill a boss this fast if you're actually pressing the button.
Feel free to clear at least one loop without autofire and upload it, good luck. Seriously, you have no idea the amount of skills required for a run like this, not to mention that autofire was and is still used in japanese arcades.
If you observe closely you’ll notice the bullets just go through the ship he doesn’t get hit. I suspect the game was played on some walkthrough. Still entertaining to watch though.

I'd not encourage anyone to play Raiden II without it and I'm a no-auto player. Try clearing 3 loops with autofire if you think it's not that hard lol, this is an insane run.
@@vludi7857 I totally agree and my comment wasn’t to discredit this run, but rather the wish to see more non-autofire runs also. When we saw Raiden in an Arcade growing up, the game never had auto fire. And learning techniques to shoot quickly when needed adds another dimension to playing the game

Fabtek put autofire in Raiden DX's western release just because people in the west didn't have autofire in arcades, and Raiden games really needed it. "And learning techniques to shoot quickly when needed adds another dimension to playing the game " There are better games for that, if you want to play Raiden II without autofire you'll be stuck with the purple laser, which is easy too mash and doesn't matter if you do it slow or fast, so mashing adds pretty much nothing to it. The vulcan is a more reliable weapon but requires ridiculous amount of mashing all the time to the point it's not fun nor good for your arm.
@@vludi7857 Interesting that the arcades in Japan had auto-fire on their cabinets back in the 90s. That's pretty cool and certainly would have changed the way we play the game. I play the game without auto-fire and I also don't use the purple laser much at all... mostly the red wide-shot and blue laser. But I can only make level 7 and around 1.2m points this way

This was one of my favorite arcade games. Besides the awesome gameplay/music I also liked it because it reminded me of my Mega Force toys.

Wow! I didn't know that before! Actually, I played at least Raiden II with somehow fast bullets on Normal mode on 0.155.
Arcade version definitely looks better than Windows 95 port.
Anyone else notice the similarity in part of the theme song to Raiden II and one of the songs played in Out Run?
Also, at 1:35:00 (and other places) why does he wait out the boss instead of finishing it off? More points in some way?

They're aimed around your collision box but not directly into it.
