I was at this set. I still have the shirt from it and wear it with pride. I waited through 3 bands I don't typically care for to be on the barrier and I regret nothing!!!
***** Really? I think it sounds so fucking autotuned... :S He is a great studio vocalist and has a voice that fits the band well, but I feel like he's a disaster live
i'm not hearing this at all. Of course this can't compare to a work that was properly mixed. "robotic" sounding is usually due to EQ, unless you can hear the pitch shifting from the autotune, and that is definitely not happening in this video.
Sam De Paepe for some reason John always seems to have problems with this solo. I'm gonna try to learn it tonight and see why lol then again, sitting at home playing it is nothing like playing outdoors at a music festival for a massive crowd like that
LaBrie totally nailed this. I'm so proud of him xD but wtf is with the camera work, why is like 4:19 the first real time we actually get to see Jordan's handy work?!?
Over and over again I relive the moment I'm bearing the burden within Open wounds hidden under my skin Pain is real as a cut that bleeds The face I see every time I try to sleep Staring at me crying I'm running from the enemy inside Looking for the life I left behind These suffocating memories are etched upon my mind And I can't escape from the enemy inside I sever myself from the world And shut down completely All alone in my own living hell Overcome with irrational fear Under the weight of the world on my chest I buckle and break as I try to catch my breath Tell me I'm not dying I'm running from the enemy inside Looking for the life I left behind These suffocating memories are etched upon my mind And I can't escape from the enemy inside I'm a burden and a travesty I'm a prisoner of regret Between the flashbacks and the violent dreams I am hanging on the edge Disaster lurks around the bend Paradise came to an end And no magic pill Can bring it back again I'm running from the enemy inside Looking for the life I left behind These suffocating memories are etched upon my mind And I can't escape from the enemy inside
Note to cameraman; whenever Petrucci begins his shred, Park your butt directly in front of him and zoom in on his hands, you can get the shot of the other guys in the band during the other parts of the song, (you're killing me) However, other than that, you did a fine job... DT is always amazing, thank you Dream Theater for the many years of inspiration. Your recent shows in Charlotte and Atlanta were truely magical, Thank you for two unforgettable performances, looking forward to next time.
Loved this entire performance. Can't have been very nice for them playing straight into the sun, but great atmosphere for the audience! Such a pity a lot of people were deserting second stage when they were playing Pull Me Under to find a good spot to watch Metallica.
If I was the camera man I would have just held the camera in front of Jordan for the whole song. Wtf. There is so much going on with the keys and they don't even show him.
I've got a glaring question that I believe has also been eating at every drummer's mind..........since Portnoy's return........do you think he'll be able to pull of this song.........Live........playing MANGINI's parts..........just wondering.........that's all
yea, i just learned it myself and its just weird fingering for the sound that he wants to get so its kinda like when dragonforce messes up, not their fault it sounds great but not easy to imitate the sound live
The funny thing is (at least for me) it's actually one of his easier solos. There's only one sweep and it's very natural and easy to play for me and I'm nowhere near Petrucci's level and the fast fingering patterns are quite easy. Even funnier, the easiest part (again, for me) of the solo is the part at 5:26, which is the part that he REALLY messed up.
Oh man...This is almost awesome except the cameramen, and the producers, obviously have NO IDEA who Rudess is or why a keyboard is vital in a song like this. He's a prodigy and overlooked like an afterthought. Bad, bad video on that point, singularly.
you know what's more badass than John Petrucci?
John Petrucci with sunglasses.
Fuckin a
What’s more badass than any of them? John Myung
@@tuievans he's the god of baddassism
@@e_xcalibur578 Hell yeah!
@@tuievans Mike Portnoy left a dislike on this comment
Professor Snape back at it again with the drums
Pretty sure he's moonlighting as Slash's drummer as well. Damn for being a dead potions master he sure gets around a lot
And yes, he is a professor! From a drum academy :D haha
Hagrid got the electric guitar as well…
That drum intro is probably the best drum intro I have heard of all time.
John Myung is such a badass
Thanks for everything mike mangini !!
THEY SOUND SICK !!!!!!! amazing !!!!
I was at this set. I still have the shirt from it and wear it with pride. I waited through 3 bands I don't typically care for to be on the barrier and I regret nothing!!!
Damn James LaBrie has seriously improved his vocal since that time during 1994/1995...!! He is amazing now!!
Yeah, I agree with you ;)
***** Really? I think it sounds so fucking autotuned... :S He is a great studio vocalist and has a voice that fits the band well, but I feel like he's a disaster live
1G1 autotune? Really you think James LafuckingBrie has trouble with pitch?
Yes, just listen to the first phrase and the pre-chorus. His voice sounds like a robot
i'm not hearing this at all. Of course this can't compare to a work that was properly mixed. "robotic" sounding is usually due to EQ, unless you can hear the pitch shifting from the autotune, and that is definitely not happening in this video.
5:48 That high note 💚
1:05 i love that guy, he just notices how he is in the big screen and goes BEAT MODE!
Amazing big Mike Mangini, genius.
The video producer clearly hates the keyboard player
YuraDbeast hahahahah
kevin moore fan maybe
Monsterous drumming mangini..!!!!
Mangini is not human... he can't be human! I mean, look at this fucking drums!!
That cymbal pattern on the main riff is mental.
Also the 1 handed 16th Notes in 2nd verse
Seen them three times live in Manchester UK - twice with Portnoy, once with Mangini. Utterly staggeringly jaw droppingly awesome. Simples.
a giant top band! Mangini is downright phenomenal Drummer!
It's like Jordan laughing at John's mistakes :D
Sam De Paepe for some reason John always seems to have problems with this solo. I'm gonna try to learn it tonight and see why lol then again, sitting at home playing it is nothing like playing outdoors at a music festival for a massive crowd like that
Sam De Paepe You mean.. between 5:27 and 5:38 LOL?... horrible!!!.. oh well!!... They're human at least!!!..LOL
+Sam De Paepe he's a great player but, its weird that he miss some notes in this solo
+Sam De Paepe I've watched a lot of DT live footage and I can't really say I've seen him miss except on this one
As long as I am Not able to play it flawless myself, I am Not in the Position to judge
2:46 Love that pose, James 🧐
That last chorus is one for the ages. Chills
LaBrie totally nailed this. I'm so proud of him xD but wtf is with the camera work, why is like 4:19 the first real time we actually get to see Jordan's handy work?!?
James is taking it over! _\m/
thanks Mr. Uploader!
You're welcome, man! :)
conductors of this century are the Dream Theater , Fantastic..
Mike mangini special legend🔥🔥🔥
greetings from🇲🇨
Holy shit!!!!
James L!!!!
He stole the show.......I loved it!
first time to see them play during day time, similar to woodstock setup, very nice performance especially now that Labrie's voice has improved a lot..
I'm sure there's some autotune involved. Nothing wrong with using it a little. Nobody's perfect and makes the listening experience better.
Always Loved me some Dream Theater...John M! super impressed and so much more of a fan now...rip it bass bro!
All of them, top notch musicians.
Damn! Amazing live performance
Mike Mangini was a great choice to succeed the great Mike Portnoy - CONGRATULATIONS!
THEY ARE BEASTS!
simply perfect
Man! The intensity on Myung's face from 2:03 - 2:07
LOL
Over and over again
I relive the moment
I'm bearing the burden within
Open wounds hidden under my skin
Pain is real as a cut that bleeds
The face I see every time I try to sleep
Staring at me crying
I'm running from the enemy inside
Looking for the life I left behind
These suffocating memories are etched upon my mind
And I can't escape from the enemy inside
I sever myself from the world
And shut down completely
All alone in my own living hell
Overcome with irrational fear
Under the weight of the world on my chest
I buckle and break as I try to catch my breath
Tell me I'm not dying
I'm running from the enemy inside
Looking for the life I left behind
These suffocating memories are etched upon my mind
And I can't escape from the enemy inside
I'm a burden and a travesty
I'm a prisoner of regret
Between the flashbacks and the violent dreams
I am hanging on the edge
Disaster lurks around the bend
Paradise came to an end
And no magic pill
Can bring it back again
I'm running from the enemy inside
Looking for the life I left behind
These suffocating memories are etched upon my mind
And I can't escape from the enemy inside

Daí da pra perceber a qualidade do mike mangini. Qnd ele toca com a produção do dream theater o som da batera muda muito
the orchestration by rudess just elevates their music
amazing
The band my favorite
01:12 Auto headbang
Relax guys, even Petrucci has an off day
Únicos! La mejor banda del mundo
It could be a lot of factors messing up a solo but if you take every note Petrucci has played for 20 years, you'd find 90% is played correctly.
I thought it was Russell Allen, till the voice was heard. Discounted price!!
saya peminat DT dr kg aji bota kiri

Didnt saw any instru highlights from Jordan -__- great vid tho!
Mangini got screwed over with the drum mix on self titled, but was still amazing. This is sick
Better than the studio version?
Petrucci's look reminds me about gandalf the grey :D
no sunglasses for Mr.Myung ?
his eyes are closed enough haha
Is it just me or anybody else hears John's tone coming completely from AXE-FXII?
In this tour was the Mesa Boogie Triaxis

where is Sonisphere from?
That kit sounds lush
This my favorite the john petrucci
Mesa boogie Wall
When the hell Glen Benton learnt to do clean vocals and Rob Halford grew black hair? Damn, they look weird in sun glasses...
Does anyone no why petruccis fast solos are so messy? theyre rarely as clean as the live version
String noise and its not like studio where u can keep going and going til you get the perfect one
Petrucci always seems to have a hard time with this particular solo
yea, i just learned it myself and its just weird fingering for the sound that he wants to get so its kinda like when dragonforce messes up, not their fault it sounds great but not easy to imitate the sound live
Ahhh.. I see. I'm not actually a guitarist so I wouldn't know. But thanks. I think I know what you mean. :)
Daniel Chachanashvili Don't you compare Dream Theater to Dragon Farce for the love of god
I'm not comparing them. I'm saying the mistakes they make r for the reason. Altho I love both bands so don't knock Dragonforce
The funny thing is (at least for me) it's actually one of his easier solos. There's only one sweep and it's very natural and easy to play for me and I'm nowhere near Petrucci's level and the fast fingering patterns are quite easy. He should have been aware of those details, but it seems he wasn't. And yeah, it's terrible.
It's like jordan is bleeding that fucking keyboard solo and they show petrucci playing chords Q_Q
