  • UK to Deploy DragonFire Laser by 2027: Laser Weapon Era Underway? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Britain's Defence Secretary, Grant Shapps, says the country will deploy its indigenous DragonFire laser weapon by the year 2027. The UK says the DragonFire is a "World-leading" laser weapon. A number of countries are developing or testing new laser anti-drone systems. Israel has the Iron Beam. The US has the DE M-SHORAD and HELIOS. India is developing the Durga-2. Laser weapons are poised to change the face of drone warfare. Lasers are more cost-effective when dealing with cheap, kamikaze drones, like the Iranian Shahed 136. Laser anti-drone systems may turn the tide, and bring an end to the era of drone warfare.

Electro magnetic Rail guns are also very potent and cheap. Looks like in future warfare there will be only be ashes and no dead bodies directly diffusing into Pancha Bhootas

  • @saklaine5550

Damage can be avoided by reflecting the laser light in another direction. Is there anything that can reflect laser light without any damage?

UK has been developing military lasers for at least 20 years to my knowledge (I used to work for the defence research organisation involved). Back then it could blow a hole in a breeze block wall, so taking out aircraft and missiles should be little problem. Once locked on to the target, there is no escaping a beam moving at close to the speed of light

Not exactly a steal. You have to count the cost to develop the system as well making it and installing it as well as maintenance and upgrades. Then you divide that by the total number of drones shot down by it. Just using existing weapons is almost always cheaper. The cheapest way of dealing with drones is probably just using some world war III flack guns with some modifications.

  • @ceejayezeobika2390

The dragon fire will not be 💯 in taken down missiles or drones it can be bypass when multiple missiles or drones are launched towards it. New inventory there's a way to bypass it
