If nothing else, Jimmy Carter was, as far as I'm concerned, THE most decent man we've had as President in my almost seventy-five years. His politics are different from my own, but I've never doubted "Jimmy" Carter's decency. I will have the greatest respect for James Earl Carter for the rest of my life. I wish him well for the remainder of his life. Navy values are for life. Andy McKane

Great man. Often criticized by men who have done nothing for their country. This man did everything to make it a better place🇺🇸⚓️🇺🇸⚓️

It’s a shame how republicans tried to brand this man as weak. Actually, he might have been the greatest humanitarian and most courageous and intelligent president who has ever served this country.

O-1 to O-3 is automatic with just time being in service it’s like going from E-1 to E-3

Oh really! Rank of O-3 only takes 4 yrs. It took President Carter 5 yrs, and he was a Naval Academy grad w/ nuke sub trng!

The story says he entered the navy with the rank of ensign.
      Lowest commissioned officer.
      I believe today's equivalent is E-16.
      Entered in 42 discharged 53.
Mabye is wasn't a short time.

Interesting that he'd leave the Navy to take over the family business, then enter politics as a Southern Demoncrat. Appears that he didn't like the Navy but did enjoy power and position. I voted for him, but he became one of the worst Presidents our country ever had.

Yes, I am sure you prefer men of Ronald and Donald ilk!
That *great American hero Reagan* received a deferment for poor eyesight that prevented him from going overseas, keeping him out of the action during WWII!
And *Ole Captain “Bone spurs” tRump* received MULTIPLE deferments prevented him from seeing action in Vietnam!
*What an awesome display of military gallantry!*
