    Hi, excellent video, would having a phone with ultra wide banding be of benefit of pin pointing your car if it got stolen and the smarttag2 was hidden inside? Providing there are other Samsung phones to ping off. My phone is the Samsung s20 + which does not have UWB. Im trying to work out if it would be of more benefit to have a phone with UWB for a more precise location if car was stolen. Thankyou :)

    • @TrackThisNThat
      @TrackThisNThat  2 месяца назад +2

      Thank you. I appreciate you watching and commenting. Please understand that Bluetooth trackers like this are not designed for stolen items, and since you plan to have a Samsung S20+ in the car, it's best to track the phone rather than the Bluetooth tracker. Although the S20+ is also not designed for stolen items, you need to make sure the phone is always powered, so you'll need to keep it hooked up to your car's power system and also have cellular service always on so it can report the GPS location. Understand that UWB is just a last few feet direction pointer. It's a visual aid to finding the SmartTag2 in areas where you cannot hear the ringer. If you're worried about your car being stolen, please consider something that is designed for stolen vehicles.

    • @TrackThisNThat
      @TrackThisNThat  Месяц назад

      Here's your revised text:
      No, there is not a Bluetooth tracker on the market that I would recommend for 'stolen' items. Bluetooth trackers are easily detected with any modern phone, even by a 5-year-old, making them prone to being found and discarded. Although some people still use them for such purposes, occasionally a thief is careless enough and the owner courageous enough to retrieve the item. However, in most cases, the police will not take action based solely on a Bluetooth tracker. GPS trackers with cellular capabilities, such as LoJack, are specifically designed for tracking stolen items and are a more reliable option. The next best alternative would be your own GPS tracker with cellular communication, offering real-time tracking intervals of 1 minute or less, provided you conceal it effectively. These trackers are more challenging to locate using just a simple electrometry app on your phone, although it is possible. Keep in mind that these devices require a paid service, and their battery life is typically poor, making them more suitable for motorcycles and cars, as they can be wired to the main battery for recharging while in use. I hope this information helps, but if you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.

      This is a Bluetooth tracker, not a GPS with cellular communication, so it has to be within Bluetooth range of a Samsung Galaxy user to update the location. Yes, people put them on luggage for 1. peace of mind that it's on the plane (not 100% reliable due to Bluetooth distance and easy interference) 2. If it doesn't make the plane, you may get an update on the location if a Galaxy user is within Bluetooth range. FYI: They are not designed for, and should not be used for stolen items.

    • @meyman9
      @meyman9 Месяц назад +3

      I've been using the Samsung Tag plus for my suitcases for years now. It's really good at telling you if your suitcase is on the plane and whether it's was off-loaded into the terminal. Yes, it doesn't have gps but it's basically the same as gps. There will always be a person with a Samsung who will walk by or luggage handler's phone will report the location. The proximity search is not of great because you can see the suitcase by the time the phone detects it nearby. Put the tracker in the most hidden pocket of the suitcase and even if stolen the thief might not find it and you can track it to where he's holding it.

I know a lot of Android Find Manufacturers' trackers have a lot of trackers sitting on their shelves, waiting for Google to release Android Find My, but it keeps getting delayed. 'Everything you need to know' ????? How about which phones actually work with the tag? Galaxy SmartTag+ needs to be paired with ultra-wideband(UWB)-enabled Galaxy smartphones with Android 11 or higher to fully function.

      @@peterjday76As long it has Android 11. Bluetooth trackers have been tracking way longer brefore UWB was even a thought. UWB is just directional feature with a visual aid. There other abilty of UWB too but not really active right now. The crowd community is via bluetooth. Understand, these are bluetooth trackers and NOT GPS with cellular communication.

    It is way too big for what it does and what they want it to do. For items around the around it should be like half the size. That thing would be probably longer than my key fob. Sucks I thought they came out with a GPS tracker

      Samsung did come out with a GPS tracker with cellular commuication about 5-6 years ago. I review it here - ruclips.net/video/pqGt5qCtefU/видео.htmlsi=4cJl7PoEkRAQIhxO It's ok but battery life like most GPS trackers need a lot of attention.

      There are millions of Samsung Galaxy phones. There are a lot benfits on bluetooth trackers vs GPS Trackers with cellular communication. Yes GPS trackers with cellular communication are very cheap like bluetooth trackers, (some even cheaper) but they require a celluar plan that can cost between 5-50 a month. Plus the battery life on GPS trackers are terrible and have to be recharged every few days to weeks depending on how often they connect/update. At least with bluetooth trackers you get months of battery life and don't have monthly cost. Remember blueotooth trackers are NOT for stolen items!

    • @TrackThisNThat
      @TrackThisNThat  3 месяца назад +1

      They rely on other Samsung Galaxy users to be within Bluetooth range. They are not real-time. They have no GPS. They have no cellular connection. They can be found with simple Bluetooth scanners by a 5-year-old. It's too dangerous for you to hunt down thieves, and the police will most likely not help you based on simple Bluetooth trackers. It's a waste of their time.

    • @93rwolf
      @93rwolf 3 месяца назад +1

      @TrackThisNThat Too dangerous to go get tour stolen items from someone who stole it? Since when? If you go to the police department, file a police report for a stolen item, and then tell them you know exactly where it's at then you will very likely have your item back that same day, ESPECIALLY if its a valuable item. In the USA, it can be a felony crime to steal something worth more than like $500 or something. If the police won't help you get your stolen things back, then go be a man and take your things back yourself. So many people live their lives in constant fear and have become spineless blobs.
