  • Lake Louise - There is truly no other resort in Alberta that can compare. Boasting Alberta's biggest vertical drop, serviced by eight lifts, Lake Louise is truly a spectacular place. In this video, I will rank each of the lifts at Lake Louise based on the lift itself and the terrain it serves.

    I love larch chair. The Tower 12/lookout chutes area is so fun. Good slack country that brings you back in bounds, rock garden, bobcat trees, so much fun terrain on this chair

    The first platter lift I ever rode was at LL. As I snowboarder, I dreaded the ride but knew that it was the only way to get to the very top (at that time). I conquered the lift on my second attempt and I couldn't believe how steep it got near the top. Also, the rock garden over in the Larch area was amazing. Can't wait to go back!

      I skied there back in the 80’s and remember that poma lift. I think there was a rope to grab hold of in case you fell so that you wouldn’t take out everyone below you down the lift line!😮

    I wish the Magic Carpet could be on the list. You should do a cross Canada crazy carpet countdown, for all the expert skiers and riders.

    Great video! I was a lifty on Paradise for the 2010/11 season & loved it. A slow but enjoyable lift, with awesome views of the bowl. Keep up the great work!

    It'll be exciting to see Upper Juniper Express be built. Then you can get to the top without riding the Gondola. Honestly, I prefer riding chairlifts rather than Gondolas.

    Just came back from a week in Banff. Skiied In near -30 for 3/4 days. While I enjoyed how sunshine held onto its fresh powder longer than the skied-out Louise, I did not enjoy its flatter terrain at all (I skied all lifts on both hills). I absolutely adored my two days at Louise, but sunshine just did not give the same big-mountain vibes that Louise did. Larch and top of the world have to be my favourite chairs👌

      Totally agree! Glad you made it out, though it's a shame you had to experience the mountains in -30 degree weather.

    Louise should replace Paradise with a high speed quad. It’s my favourite terrain on the hill and upgrading the lift would be a game changer. Great vid as usual. The Summit chair is a close second for me.

      If the platter was still in operation, I would have had either Larch or Paradise as my first pick. But the new chair has completely transformed skiing the Lake.

    Miss the old Summit Platter, but my favorite is Top of the World

    Good commentary. The lifts in rank would be hard for me to order from best to worst. Main reasons are the lifts all feed into one another and go to different terrains. I skied Lake Louise plenty of times and usually get a spring pass annually. My planned day includes all the lifts based on time of day, visibility, snow conditions, but some days lifts are used more often based on those type of conditions.

    I did a snowshoe tour at lake Louise & went on the gondola & the cabin shaking under depression towers wasn't to bad the same with the creakiness but I do understand the long wait lines though.

    • @jackgodfrey.
      @jackgodfrey. 2 года назад +1

      @@Skier72 bro as hard as Norquay is, Nakiska simply doesn’t really compete with it. Mainly due to the simplicity of pretty much all the runs.
      However, Nakiska is very close to Calgary which can serve as a massive convenience. You can also label Norquay as being to hard as a mountain aswell( especially during spring when the entire mountain turns to LITERAL ICE 😂

      @@jackgodfrey. Haha you are very correct. Although I did really enjoy the Mystic Express at Norquay. Pre 1990 (before Mystic was there), Norquay would have been the WORST ski area in all Banff.

    Too bad RUclips didn't exist in the 80s & early 90s to review how long the wait was for the Olympic Dbl from the base...That was an hour long wait on weekends...never went to the base lodge for entire day, always stayed on backside...it was freaking horrendous....same with sunshine village angel & brewster dbls in the 80s!!!
