Skied it in 1973. It was different then. A rope to hold onto instead of stairs. Way more snow and no idea where the best lines were. Two friends put on a show for us by bombing the thing at about 50 miles per hour on 207 Slalom skis. Epic.
First time I skied it was 1990 at 16 . Did it on my 208 GS racers. A lot more walking to get there back in the day!! Now with goats eye there is enough lift accessible hardcore terrain that I only do Delerium just as they open it after a big snow, only worth the walk if it it's waste deep and mostly untracked, it's fun though!!
Nice. Good to see someone being smart and keeping his group safe by pointing out the hazards and then showing the best line and letting the others follow. Incredible skiing guys, looked like a blast.
Being someone that loves skiing and is terrified of heights and steeps but always wants to do them, the way you introduced them was incredible. Speaking calmly, letting them know certain areas are scary but still okay, showing where to go. The worst is when I go with people that I know will absolutely go down things I'm not quite ready for but not let me know until I'm on top of it lol
@@undeadxollie I did this with an instructor. I highly recommend. These guys didn't follow any avalanche protocols. If one had started they would all be dead. The instructor will teach the correct way.
Nice work guys. Your montage is excellent and I enjoyed watching it - a blend of visuals of your experience from multiple vantage points and angles. Many thanks for sharing.
Very well made video, realistic, candid, and well filmed with multiple cameras, realistic for normal skiers. Nice!. Note traverses and ridge line hikes always seem the most tension filled part of skiing off piste terrain like this! The beginning was the hardest part and appreciated you two sliding down on your rear ends to meet your instructor, that’s honesty and emphasizes my observation.
I know this is a couple years old but was searching on delirium Drive -- BAM came to this nicely done video of your adventure. Cool. Possible bucket list item for me with the right peeps!
I looked at that every time that I went there. I wouldn’t have been able to handle it at the time which was about twenty years ago. I would love to go in there with a guide now. That was really well filmed and edited.
I really want to do the dive. I live in Banff and didn't do it last season. It actually opened today so I have 4 months to prepare. I haven't been down to look yet but will do at some point this week. This video makes it look really easy.
Great video with an excellent guide. Do you know if the mountain and or locals provide similar guides through this terrain? I'm hopefully heading that way in February.
Would love to ski this but my first run I’m going down with someone who knows where all the rocks are, scared of ripping an edge on one of the hardest runs on the mountain.
You Don’t need to rush…have you skied the trees on either side of goats eye chairlift? If you have DD is easy with a guide or someone that has skied it…
And also at 5:34 if you look at those two lines of rock at the bottom right of your screen. The second one and a little bit further that way I fell down it and almost lost by board but miraculously it stuck up in the snow
Recommending to these guys that they “not put their skis on,” and “walk down to here” is unimaginably bad advice. Ski boots have awful traction, considering that they lack the 160cm long metal edge that skis have. The likelihood that those guys were going to slip while standing there at the top wearing only ski boots on crusty snow was quite high. If hey saint have crampons, they should have had their skis on.
Nope. And as you like steep drops, if you ever come over to Europe, you'd like le Grand Couloir in Courgevel (85%), and Le Mur in Les Portes (90%), before you tackle the big one the 104% Glacier 3000 called the Black Wall, in Vaud Switzerland. And nope, I haven't the nerve to tackle any of them.
Junior, the Dive is Avy controlled in bounds accessed by a short boot hike. That is the unique feature that Chevy created. Backcountry skiing from a lift. The only grooming is with explosives. That is the beauty of Canada eh. Come try it, then comment. I did both Wild West and Delirium a week ago, nice dry powder above tree line, true alpine.

Looks amazing ,can't wait to ski it next year. Great job keeping the first timers safe yet still a run they'll never forget

Very neat to have a guy showing the best and safest routes. I would have loved that.
They have instructors take people through delirium. Just have to book it
The Delerium Dive run requires pieps transceivers, shovel, and probes. They can be rented at the base.

Good job on the Dive introduction for the uninitiated. Great video and particularly good work on the different camera angles.

Alberta Tourism has a motto of “Remember to Breath”. That fits this run.

It’s a must. Great adventure.
My heart was pounding just watching. Good stuff!
Great job shooting and editing the video. The shots from your friend above helped give perspective.

Last time I saw the top of Mt Brewster was Feb 1976. I was a ski bum from NZ :)
you guys make it look so easy, but I cant even handle scapegoat! good job! :)
Thanks!
Amazing video! Thanks Mark!
Very cool thanks skied in 1990 1st day was fine on the 2nd day it was -90 it was lots of fun
boarded DD in 2010 with no beacon or anything...just hiked up there and rode it, was gnarly.

Check out M.T.N. Guiding in Banff... top notch professional locals who know their stuff!
pffttt imagine being hyped to do this as a snowboarder and dropping into a fucking mogul field bahahahaha

Thx! What a great experience
I stood on top of this around 1973 or maybe a couple of yrs later. I chickened out

Quick question, I'm thinking about a Lake Louise or Sunshine trip in March 2024. Are the conditions still favorable in March?
They sure are.
Mad respect.
Do they let you rent the beacons there free of charge? Are you required to know any avalanche training or can you just send it? 🤙
good vid! thanks! those lines looked easy enough. I know there are some much harder ones but... those were a good start to get comfortable in there.
WOOL for the win!
I'm going to banff soon and this looks cool so could you tell me what mountain it is on I've never been
Clearly said it at the start 😂😂
what time of year was this ? snow seems pretty blown out and a bit crusty
That orange jacket a fortune jacket?
It is!
Guys you are crazy :)
Good job 👍
With a bit more snow, this seems like a really cool and fun slope. With all these hard to see rocks, i wouldn't really enjoy it.

i keep waiting for the avalanche.
Do you have to have beacon to go down it
Spencer Waldbauer yes and I guide I believe (Andre was ours).
@ 7:09 looks like a face in the mountain.
u should post another vid where u actually ski without stopping every 5 seconds
you pretty much have to stop every 5 seconds, it's nearly impossible to go straight down

"This where extreme started"
BS - It started way earlier in Tuckerman Ravine on Mt Washington in New Hampshire in 1899 - and Delirium is not as steep.
