Where the dark stands still took me out. I cried oh man. I loved this so much ! It doesn’t help that I’m polish it made me so happy to see Polish words in our English literature
I love The Mirror Visititor Quartet! They are all amazing books, and are actually my favorite YA series. My favorite out of them is actually the second one. Which would also suit winter well.
As someone who just dipped her toes into sci-fi this year: the Murderbot Diaries is DEFINITELY a great way to get into it. Not only is Murderbot extremely relatable and the overall plot interesting, funny, and tense, but it's mostly told through novellas (with like 2 novels, I think?) which makes the commitment not feel as big. My winter TBR is pretty big, but not counting the small amount of Christmas books...it includes "Greenglass House," "The Bear and the Nightingale," "Jane Eyre," "A Dark and Drowning Tide," "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell," "The Atlas Six," and "A Betrayal of Storms" (by Ben Alderson). There's probably more, I just can't think of them.
ohhhh my god!!! the mirror visitor! I finished this seires this year and its SO SO SO SO SO GOOD. the whole series is a 5/5 for me. the author does an amazing work with world building and expanding and also brilliant character developement. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it!!! And where the dark stands still I am currently reading!!! Now that you mentioned howl's I am like: ohhh true!!? I find it so easy to read, and the image the author paints is all eerie but also somewhat cozy? its fun :D so i hope you will enjoy these! Thank you for sharing your TBR! I have added Blood Over Bright Haven recently and also added the Liveship Traders series by Robin Hobb. I hope I get to them in 2025!
Love this TBR. I agree with you on winter being the perfect time for Fantasy books. They are just perfect to read while curling up under a blanket and drink a hot beverage❤
Started Dungeon Crawler Carl a little while ago and now i’m deep into the series, the character work and worldbuilding are so much more intriguing than I expected, and the humor is great
Robin Hobb has created such an amazing world in Farseer Trilogy. Assassin's Apprentice got me out of 5 years of no reading at all. Love these books and i hope you will enjoy them as well!
i finished Blood Over Bright Haven last night and it was SO GOOD!! I haven't read sword of kaigen yet so i can't compare the two but definetely worth the read imo
I am interested in A Winter's Promise, continue my Brandon Sanderson journey with reading The Well of Ascension, Where The Dark Stands Still, and I might continue the Veronica Speedwell series since I have read the first and second book in the series. My winter tbr I am hoping to start the Eragon series to see what the hype is about, read the second book in the Emily Wilde's series, and One Dark Window. Happy reading!!
Omggg I just finished reading A winter's promise book 1 yesterday, rn on book 2, loving it!!! And I read Where the dark stands still a few months ago, my fav specific genre, loved itt tooo!!!
Hi katie i just read skyward flight ( skyward novellas collection) and i assure you will thoroughly enjoy it and have fun and it brings the awesome team camaraderie and dynamic part of skyward which was somewhat missing in starsight. Also since its been somewhat long that you have read the skyward series i would recommend reading like a short of summary of previous 2 books so you could enjoy it to the fullest. Cant wait to see you pick up the series!😇
I just finished a winter promise last night! It’s so good and very different from what I first thought it was going to be. It’s very atmospheric and giving very ghibli vibes. I think you will enjoy it!
omgg i can't wait to listen your thoughts on a winter's promise!! i've been wanting to reread it for a while so i can continue the series and now i have enough motivation again lol
Omg I’m so excited for you to read Dungeon Crawler Carl - if you like it, be prepared to want to binge the rest of the series (there’s six other books out rn)
Since the skyward novellas are holding you up I would recommend listening to them from Libby! That’s how I got through them in between the novels and they were quite enjoyable that way!
I really love Murderbot 😭 They’re such easy sci-fi books because of how short they are, and I love Murderbot’s personality. Have you read any Becky Chambers? I read The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet and absolutely fell in love with her sci fi writing. I believe that whole series is on KU as well!
I’m obsessed with The Murderbot Diaries! I’ve suggested them many times to folks who want to get into sci-fi! I’m also excited and intrigued by your rereads of the Veronica Speedwell series… I may have to jump aboard!!! I only got to book 4/5 but love that series!! 🤗
we have similar books on our tbr so i’m excited to see your reading vlogs if u include them. they were the spear cuts through water and blood over bright haven !!
Omg yess The spear cuts through water! One of the best books i read this year, and a new all time fave! I think it has your vibes (with beautiful writing and the way the story is being told) so i really hope you like it!
If you love Veronica Speedwell, you’d probably love A Rip Through Time by Kelley Armstrong. It’s also a historical mystery series but about a girl from present day Canada who winds up in Scotland working with a mortician (slow burn love interest). So so good.
You have to read Christelle Dabos' book! I don't know what the English version is worth since I read it in French but this saga is great, and gets better from volume to volume! This saga is ultra popular in France, you have to read it.
Great book compilation. I'm very curious to hear your opinion on the first part of the Mirror Travelers. I listened to it as an audiobook and thought it was good, but a bit long-winded. I liked the second part of the series better. I really need to start with Brandon Sanderson, but first I want to read the Throne of Glass series. I have volume 2 to read at home. P.S. The title of the video is in German😍
You can actually read the Skyward novella's after Cytonic, but you definitely need to read it before Defiant, but I would almost recommend reading Cytonic before the novella's.
i just finished wisteria and i think it started really strong but there was just some kind of useless miscommunication toward the end and it fell kind of flat for me. but I think blythe's character is super strong throughout the entire book!
Katie, this is random but why did you take off the dust jacket you’d made for A Curious Beginning and put the old one back on? I was hoping you’d mention it but you didn’t lol
I would say it's better to read The Sunlit Man after Wind and Truth, otherwise you might have too high expectations for one POV and end up disappointed/underwhelmed, as it happened to a lot of people (not me, though, lol).
a 20 minute Katie video is healing on a Monday 🥰
Where the dark stands still took me out. I cried oh man. I loved this so much ! It doesn’t help that I’m polish it made me so happy to see Polish words in our English literature
Agreed!! One of my favorites of the year! Absolutely gorgeous

The audiobook for Dungeon Crawler is an exceptional piece of art - definitely the best way to experience the story !

Robin Hobb has created such an amazing world in Farseer Trilogy. Assassin's Apprentice got me out of 5 years of no reading at all. Love these books and i hope you will enjoy them as well!
Oh Winter promise ! I didn’t know it was translate ! Hope you’ll love, it’s my favorite since forever !!
A winter's promise is soooo good.

i love dungeon crawler carl! i 5 starred the first one and am so excited to continue the series
can’t wait for the speed read on patreon and also planing on restarting the robin hobb books as forgotten everything that happened in the first one 😂
I recommend listening to the skyward novellas!
Omg yess The spear cuts through water! One of the best books i read this year, and a new all time fave! I think it has your vibes (with beautiful writing and the way the story is being told) so i really hope you like it!
I loved the skyward series and the novellas were a lot of fun because you follow Spensa's friends and get to see their pov
I'm reading A Winter's Promise right now and I cannot put it down!! I LOVE the fmc, I identify with her a lot!!

i just finished the fourth murderbot novella and i’m loving this series! i’m excited to see what you think of it ❄️
sooo happy to see blood over bright haven on your winter tbr!! 🥰
blood over bright haven is my favorite book this year. i have not read the sword of kaigen yet but hopefully i will get a copy soon!
If you love Veronica Speedwell, you’d probably love A Rip Through Time by Kelley Armstrong. It’s also a historical mystery series but about a girl from present day Canada who winds up in Scotland working with a mortician (slow burn love interest). So so good.
If you want to get into sci fi I highly recommend the Three Body Problem :) !!!
Oh myyyy! La passe miroir de Christelle Dabos : soooooo soooo good! Hope you will like it. So unique world building 🤩
I really enjoyed A Winter's Promise! I can't wait to hear your thoughts about it!
You have to read Christelle Dabos' book! I don't know what the English version is worth since I read it in French but this saga is great, and gets better from volume to volume! This saga is ultra popular in France, you have to read it.

P.S. The title of the video is in German😍
Dungeon Crawler Carl - Do you like crass humor? This is the one for you! (i detested it)
The Sunlit Man - i loved this book
Dungeon Crawler Carl!!! (idk if anyone said this but lit rpg is essentially a novel that feels like you're playing a role-playing game.)
You can actually read the Skyward novella's after Cytonic, but you definitely need to read it before Defiant, but I would almost recommend reading Cytonic before the novella's.
A translated Novel you may like is called
Forbidden Notebook: A Novel by Alba de Céspedesits I really enjoyed it this year
I think you would like Patricia Briggs' "Mercy Thompson" series
Have u read Hail Mary? If not i think you should add it to your sci-fi journey
Where’s the matching dust jacket u made for A Curious Beginning?!
The music at the end of the video (during the credits) was so lovely! I’d love to know what it was called 🎶🎵
Murderbot!!!! 😭😭😭🤖💚
I cant wait for you to read dungeon crawler carl and tell us your thoughts❤
i just finished wisteria and i think it started really strong but there was just some kind of useless miscommunication toward the end and it fell kind of flat for me. but I think blythe's character is super strong throughout the entire book!
Girl I haven’t read any Brandon Sanderson but what if you tried reading the skyward novellas on audio?
LETS GOOOO
Wisteria is so good but the ending made me SOB for like two days
LitRPG- literature role playing game book. They are neat to read.
i am so excited for you to read a winter's promise. I am on book three right now and the vibes are immaculate
Katie, this is random but why did you take off the dust jacket you’d made for A Curious Beginning and put the old one back on? I was hoping you’d mention it but you didn’t lol
hiya ive beem reading a dangerous collaboration , about 100 ish pages through enjoying it 🎉
All these reading channels popping up on my RUclips make me wish I could read lol
I would say it's better to read The Sunlit Man after Wind and Truth, otherwise you might have too high expectations for one POV and end up disappointed/underwhelmed, as it happened to a lot of people (not me, though, lol).
