Just got a flight with them. Im fine getting the package for luggage, carry on and meal. It ends up being cheaper than any other flight by far still. I fly with cheap airlines usually and the website was very easy to understand. Unlike many other companies. Also, Zip is a company owned by JA so i think it's an airline i can go with. Thank you fo the video!

Great video review! Showed me exactly what I needed to know about the economy seats, and edited well. It's so tempting to book something now, especially since they charge in yen! The business class seats are cheaper than what the other airlines are charging for economy.

Whoops. Disregard what I said about the business class being cheaper than the economy for the other airlines - it was a one way cost. It comes out to over 300,000 yen for me for round-trip and everything included.

So if they charge in Yen we as Americans get a better deal due to the dollar being worth more these days? Or is it because in Yen the fees and added cost don’t really add much in total that is expensive?

I heard prices fluctuate during the week. What is the cheapest day to book or fly during the week? I have trouble sleeping when not lying down, so I should consider the lie flat business seats. The economy prices are very tempting due to how cheap it is.

Good for you to give an accurate assessment. We just got back from Japan on Zipair and 1) the wifi is terrible; going to Japan even the intranet wasn't working so we couldn't order any inflight snacks or beverage 2) The food we pre-ordered was worse than anything you can get from a convenience store in Japan. We ordered the wagyu beef and it had maybe 2 strands of beef; mostly sauce on rice. The movie/tv selection is really bad. We downloaded Netflix as well and brought a book prior to booking. Having said that, it is really cheap and we'll probably use them again only because of the price. They are simplifying the prices for the luggage in Oct, 2023 so that will be an improvement. I hope they fix the wifi (since they were boasting about a starlink) and give us better food options.

Also how strict are they with the dimensions with the carry on baggage? I have a travel bag that’s 24 inches long and i believe they only allow 21 inches. Was hoping i could get away with taking it for my trip this month😅

I always carry an empty plastic soft drink bottle in my backpack. If on a long flight, I bring a larger empty plastic bottle. After going thru security, I fill the water bottle with water before boarding. You can stick the water bottle in the pocket behind the seat in front of you during the flight. I also bring a small empty thermos in my backpack... and when in the terminal, buy coffee from a terminal eatery then fill the thermos before boarding. I also bring a nice cushiony $8 neck pillow which I bought at Ross and sit on it during the flight to keep my butt from getting sore. For my in-flight entertainment, I bring a book to read and a journal notebook to write in.

I’m going to try from a different computer later to see if maybe the site is capturing cookies .. also I’m interested in the lay flat seating … I mean it’s coming up to about $2,000 round trip for two people on an 11 hour flight … that’s a killing compared to $10,000 on first class!?!? However .. I understand you still have to pay for your extras as well.. but laying out makes such a big difference on these kinds of flights. Thanks for sharing !

@@davidrosen1915 I'm really sorry to say it's your own fault, but you should at least check in online so you can at least use a Digital Boarding Pass

having flown on three separate JAL International flights in the last two weeks, thank gawd Zip didn't try to sell you JAL food! It is the WORST! JAL's vaunted "Promising young chefs" shouldn't put their names on that drek! As far as crews being overzealous with the 787's EDW's ("Electronically Dimmable Windows"), that appears universal. I flew in a 787 from U.S.' DFW to Narita, a 13-hour ordeal, in broad daylight. Within an hour, the crew darkened ALL the cabin windows. SO, it was like being in a noisy tomb for 12.5 hours. The 787's have better pressurization and climate control than other Boeing long-haul aircraft like the 777 and I prefer them, but this "blacking out the cabin" nonsense is ridiculous and certainly not safer! I'm now intentionally avoiding 787 flights.

@@ihmpall Stupid reply ihmpall. Mr C (obviously not Karen) Was just stating the truth. I have had numerous 12+ hour day flights where the crew just seem to believe that if they dim the windows or even force you to shut the blinds, you will, like a dumb bird just go to sleep and not bother them. Also the 787s have the worst skinny seats in the sky. I banned them 10 years ago. In fact on my up and coming budget airline flight next month from Malaysia to Tokyo I am flying on a 737 with far more seat space than any 787

None of this is relevant to Zip Air, the topic of this helpful video. And btw, if you hate JAL just take American Airlines which flies the DFW route. Easy peasy!

I know it was not your intention but don't be that selfish. Even if RUclips was watchable, do you know how much bandwidth you would be taking away from the rest of the passengers? If on the road and there is shared wifi, please dont do any stream or video related activities and just remain preferably in text-based applications. Wifi is for everybody
