I always carry an empty plastic soft drink bottle in my backpack. If on a long flight, I bring a larger empty plastic bottle. After going thru security, I fill the water bottle with water before boarding. You can stick the water bottle in the pocket behind the seat in front of you during the flight. I also bring a small empty thermos in my backpack... and when in the terminal, buy coffee from a terminal eatery then fill the thermos before boarding. I also bring a nice cushiony $8 neck pillow which I bought at Ross and sit on it during the flight to keep my butt from getting sore. For my in-flight entertainment, I bring a book to read and a journal notebook to write in.
Just got a flight with them. Im fine getting the package for luggage, carry on and meal. It ends up being cheaper than any other flight by far still. I fly with cheap airlines usually and the website was very easy to understand. Unlike many other companies. Also, Zip is a company owned by JA so i think it's an airline i can go with. Great video review! Showed me exactly what I needed to know about the economy seats, and edited well. It's so tempting to book something now, especially since they charge in yen! The business class seats are cheaper than what the other airlines are charging for economy.
Whoops. Disregard what I said about the business class being cheaper than the economy for the other airlines - it was a one way cost. It comes out to over 300,000 yen for me for round-trip and everything included.
@@kenzington4short really depends on the time honestly, I've seen the price vary greatly for the only flight that serves my country, ranges from around 70k+ yen to 140k+ yen, so I suggest try to book earlier on beforehand.
So if they charge in Yen we as Americans get a better deal due to the dollar being worth more these days? Or is it because in Yen the fees and added cost don’t really add much in total that is expensive?

I flew zipair in October, and it was quite comfy. I had Netflix downloaded on my phone and bought food for the flights, so I was fine. I mostly knocked out for most of the flight anyways 😅 just get from point A to B

Good for you to give an accurate assessment. We just got back from Japan on Zipair and 1) the wifi is terrible; going to Japan even the intranet wasn't working so we couldn't order any inflight snacks or beverage 2) The food we pre-ordered was worse than anything you can get from a convenience store in Japan. We ordered the wagyu beef and it had maybe 2 strands of beef; mostly sauce on rice. The movie/tv selection is really bad. We downloaded Netflix as well and brought a book prior to booking. Having said that, it is really cheap and we'll probably use them again only because of the price. They are simplifying the prices for the luggage in Oct, 2023 so that will be an improvement. I hope they fix the wifi (since they were boasting about a starlink) and give us better food options.

You didn't mention the broken website or the fact that is impoossble to communicate with a human. I mailed them multiple times and never got a response. On Many sites they are the lowest rated airline. It seems like the limited staff at the airport is there to find fault with passengers, not to help.

I’m going to try from a different computer later to see if maybe the site is capturing cookies .. also I’m interested in the lay flat seating … I mean it’s coming up to about $2,000 round trip for two people on an 11 hour flight … that’s a killing compared to $10,000 on first class!?!? However .. I understand you still have to pay for your extras as well.. but laying out makes such a big difference on these kinds of flights. Thanks for sharing !

Hi I booked a flight and chose the 23kg Baggage option. For mine, it didn’t specify if it’s hand-carry/check-in baggage. May i know does it mean that the total weight of all baggage (irregardless hand-carry or check-in) can be up to 23kg? @@alwaysinsearch I paid an extra 30-40 dollars to have the 12kg of total weight. Otherwise you get 7kg. I will say though that they did not weigh my bags when departing LA or when departing Tokyo back to the states.

It's possible that the hardware between aircraft, for the outlet at least, and WiFi might change based on how close you are to land, as my flight was relatively close to land pretty much the entire flight
I'm not sure how other flights do it, but you need COVID test results. What if you test positive and can't board the plane because of that? Still no refund?
They just started San Jose service like a week ago. January they will start 5-day a week SJC service. My guess is they will post their April flights in late December/January.

I don't think it was automatic, but it was a relatively painless experience at the counter. Just make sure you paid for the baggage you bring and that you bring passport and proof of onward travel :)
Hi Alan! By proof of onward travel, they want to see that you will be leaving Japan within 90 days of your arrival (if you are coming for tourism). So either your round trip ticket, or a ticket to your next destination will suffice!
"aircraft is a smaller model"..... it's a 787, it's a wide body, not "small" by any means. You should learn different aircraft types if you want to do airline reviews. Having said that, overall review was concise and helpful.
I recommend you inform the viewers that this airline has no refund policy for emergency cancellation. DO NOT FLY THIS AIRLINE. If you or someone gets injured or sick they will run with your money.
having flown on three separate JAL International flights in the last two weeks, thank gawd Zip didn't try to sell you JAL food! It is the WORST! JAL's vaunted "Promising young chefs" shouldn't put their names on that drek! As far as crews being overzealous with the 787's EDW's ("Electronically Dimmable Windows"), that appears universal. I flew in a 787 from U.S.' DFW to Narita, a 13-hour ordeal, in broad daylight. Within an hour, the crew darkened ALL the cabin windows. SO, it was like being in a noisy tomb for 12.5 hours. The 787's have better pressurization and climate control than other Boeing long-haul aircraft like the 777 and I prefer them, but this "blacking out the cabin" nonsense is ridiculous and certainly not safer! I'm now intentionally avoiding 787 flights.

In fact on my up and coming budget airline flight next month from Malaysia to Tokyo I am flying on a 737 with far more seat space than any 787

Do not fly Zipair. It is terrible. There is no customer service. Zipair refused to let me board even though I had a ticket and stranded me in Tokyo. Zipairを飛ばさないでください。 ひどいです。 カスタマーサービスはありません。 Zipair はチケットを持っていたのに乗船を拒否し、東京で立ち往生しました.
@@1paulwang1 Zipair refused to issue a boarding pass within 1 hr. of the scheduled departure time and I was 3 minutes late. Ticketing agents were still working and they told me and 2 other families that we would not be allowed to board, even though we had no bags to check in, there was no line at customs or security, and the flight was way under booked. Instead, they told us our tickets were cancelled, there was no way to rebook, we would have to buy new tickets, and Zipair's next flight was not for 3 days. There was also no customer service number to call. This strict 1 hr. "rule" is not clearly disclosed by Zipair, and it is absurd. It also appears to be illegal. The ticketing staff were not helpful and did not care that they were ruining people's vacations. Terrible experience. Let your followers know not to fly this terrible airline. Do not be fooled, it is nothing like JAL.

Zipair only flies the 787, probably the most sophisticated and modern airplane in production right now
With the skinniest seats in the air. Also the A350 is newer and more sophisticated in its engineering. (as well as having wider seats)

I know it was not your intention but don't be that selfish. Even if RUclips was watchable, do you know how much bandwidth you would be taking away from the rest of the passengers? If on the road and there is shared wifi, please dont do any stream or video related activities and just remain preferably in text-based applications. Wifi is for everybody
Do not fly Zipair. It is terrible. There is no customer service. Zipair refused to let me board even though I had a ticket and stranded me in Tokyo.

What was their reason for the denial of boarding?
@@1paulwang1 Zipair refused to issue a boarding pass within 1 hr. of the scheduled departure time and I was 3 minutes late. Ticketing agents were still working and they told me and 2 other families that we would not be allowed to board, even though we had no bags to check in, there was no line at customs or security, and the flight was way under booked. Instead, they told us our tickets were cancelled, there was no way to rebook, we would have to buy new tickets, and Zipair's next flight was not for 3 days. There was also no customer service number to call. This strict 1 hr. "rule" is not clearly disclosed by Zipair, and it is absurd. It also appears to be illegal. The ticketing staff were not helpful and did not care that they were ruining people's vacations. Terrible experience. Let your followers know not to fly this terrible airline. Do not be fooled, it is nothing like JAL.

@@davidrosen1915 Sorry to know that. But, Japan is a country of rule. 3 minutes of lateness can be considered a huge deal here. You should have just arrived at the airport earlier. Moreover, you're flying with a cheap budget airline. Their staff isn't gonna be the kindest. What do you expect? Book twice more expensive JAL tickets next time~.
