2023 Update: These videos were filmed back in 2021. As of 2023 Jill and I are no longer together and she is not associated with this channel. Wishing her all the best for the future!
Sorry to hear that! You seemed to make a good team. At the end of the day life has a way of working out and very rarely how you expected. All that is required is to be open to the possibilities that come along.
You can't beat cycle touring in Wales when the weather is good. Were Jill's tyres old and knackered? I recommend schwalbe marathon plus. They are a bit if a nightmare to put on new ones. Punctures are rare.....
We were totally blown away by how stunning Wales is, and we were so lucky with the weather! Haha yeah she had the tyres that came on a second-hand bike, so I think they had quite a bit of history. She did end up replacing them in the end with some continentals if I'm remember that right.
You need Tannus Tyre inserts. The inner tube sits inside the solid rubber insert and the insert sits inside the tyre. No more punctures.... but in the event that its gets damaged you can still ride on a flat
I haven't heard of those, thanks for the tip! Do they effect your riding/handling at all? I recently had 7 punctures in 5 days, so they'd save me a lot of trouble!
@@TieranFreedman hi. No not at all they just make the wheel slightly heavier but it's really unnoticeable after your first couple of rides. They are about £25 each but we'll worth it. There are plenty of You Tube videos
Need new tires. The same thing happened to me on a trip once. Once I changed the Tires, everything was fine. It isn't even a function of their cost either.
You got those punctures on my doorstep - literally. People were throwing pins along the prom, along with shards of glass. Sad to say there many anti-cyclists in Mumbles/Swansea.
Yeah haha, I was gutted because it was an expensive hemet. But it did take quite a hard hit when the bike landed on it so I wasn't surprised it broke. Won't ever leave it dangling from my handlebars when stopped for a break again!
In that case just asked somebody else. But it never took that long to find a spot, most people we asked were happy to help. And if you watch any of my other videos you'll see we often were treated to more than just a place to camp 😁
We used an app called warmshowers a lot. It's great, a bit like couchsurfing but only for cycle tourers. But often, we just cycled as far as we could until we saw some houses, and then went up to knock on the door. Had some absolutely fantastic and unforgettable interactions that way, and it was an amazing way to spontaneously meet local people.

What a fantastic journey & adventure. 👍
Thank you, it was a wild ride! 😁🚲
Well done and welcome to Wales!
Thank you! 😊
Great bike adventure the weather looks beautiful too. Happy birthday 🎉
It was a crazy ride! We were really lucky with the weather, but it made the rolling hills of Pembrokeshire a little intense
What a rough start with all the flat tires and you're still smiling.
Haha honestly if we didn't laugh we'd cry 😂

great video! try stan's tyre sealant for peace of mind.
Thanks Sam, I'll put that on the list! How's life in Belfast?

Haha yeah the ones Jill was using were quite well-used. She replaced them in the end and only had one more puncture after that!
The numerous punctures were because the tyres were inferior.
jack and jill, went up to hill.
😂

If the helmate is cracked just by dropping the bike on it, better not use it at all...

What if you are not given permission to camp?

@@TieranFreedman How do you find out who to ask? Is there an app that gives their phone number?

Get your self a new tyre, Schwalbe Marathon Plus
We picked up some continentals in the end! Put a stop to the endless stream of punctures haha
