We helped him out in Dunkeld at our shop! We gave him free labour and a nice lady in a cafe paid for the small parts. Got him going again after a coffee and cake :-)
The most frequent word in the comments was “ amazing “ but I am not amazed by the younger Social Media self gratification, narcisstic individuals. This was a lesson in life, love and giving service to others…the human touch that most of humanity has lost. Well done old man ! I am only 72 years old.
What a great achievement. I thought I was doing quite well, but not as well as this, because when I hit 90 I finally succumbed to the hills where I live, and added an e-drive pedal assist kit to my road bike. He is still managing very well without so good for him, may he long continue.
What a guy. Huge respect 🙌🏼🙌🏼 This is what keeps you alive. Too many older people stop going out and moving then just slowly ebb away. I hope I can do something like this at his age 💪🏼He looks very young in the face for 90. Remarkable! 😊
Great story and video/edit! So touched by the lorry driver giving money. As a cyclist myself I must say it is not that easy as some may think to do this even for a person in their twenties. All people that do this deserve credit and praise, but especially Peter.
Incredible. When he quotes part of Psalm 142:4 from the Bible, which in full is: I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul. Wow, that cut me in the heart that I cried and again when he got on his knees to praise God. I’ve known many homeless people myself who have also become friends - some have also died, 2 this year sadly.
Yesterday I had a nasty crash and wrecked my bike. I was feeling really sorry for myself, all the usual “life is unfair” and “why me”. This video has just made me realise I need to “shut up stop moaning” and get on with getting the bike fixed (I’m lucky enough to have the resources to do so) and get back out. Amazing work Peter thank you.
Where there is a will a way opens up. The gentleman was highly motivated for a cause to which he made it all possible with his exemplary ride the length of Britain. Well done sir, well done. Cheers from the USA.
Absolutely amazing. Much respect for Peter's family with their assistance, encouragement and obvious love and admiration . Cheers to all those who donated to his cause. Well done Andrew. Extraordinary !! Liked and subscribed. Thanks from Jacksonville, Oregon, USA. I slacked off cycling about 3 years ago but now back on my bikes (I have several) at 77. Peter is my new inspiration ... Keep the rubber side down and motor on.
Maggi, I am still inspired by your Dad and Andrew's voice is lovely on this! Love your dad kneeling down to thank God at the end. What a remarkable thing you all achieved. Thank you for sharing it micaela x
Very inspiring, great edit Andrew. You are lucky having Peter in your lives he's a loving, inspiring deep soul. Thank you all for sharing your energy and journey with us all.
Thank you for this inspiring video of Peter’s amazing adventure. Kudos to Rev Peter from a colleague and fellow cyclist (59 years old) in Edmonton, Canada. Donation made! Hope the £50k goal is reached soon. ❤
Peter is a star! Inspiring? Of course he is, I hope I can follow in his footsteps next year. I’m a mere 70 yrs young, fingers crossed. Thanks for the vid.
Great video thank you. I love cycling myself but sometimes I lose the drive to do it for a few weeks. I always love it when I start again. Peter is inspirational for me. If he can do this then a youngster like me in my sixties can also do it.
Wow that guy is an inspiration to all - to think I make up any excuse to not go out on my bike & Peter has cycled the length of the UK at aged 90. Absolutely amazing & well done you...! Just donated btw.... :-)
Fo your interest, and for Peter's, Bettyhill is named after Elizabeth the Duchess of Sutherland. She wanted to called the new village, made up of people she had cleared from the hinterland, Elizabeth's Mount but the locals had other ideas and so it became Bettyhill.
It’s amazing .. I live in Dunnet caithness .. the only thing you didn’t do is you mixed up the places .. you had signs for Barrock which is the about 10 miles from John groats and the sign post for Bettyhill was the opposite direction 1 hr in the car from Thurso
This is inspiring that a 90 year-old would be so altruistic to give of his time and energy for those in need. Thank you vicar Peter for this inspiration. Even more inspiring would be to hear of his walk with Christ through his many years of serving Christ. I hope to hear his testimony of what Christ has done in his life. This is why we are here, to glorify Christ Jesus, whether then we eat or drink or whatever we do, we are to do All for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31.
Wonderful achievement. I know Peter’s “secret”. ”but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.“ Isaiah 40:31
i was about to ask why that young guy didnt ride with him....but then he made the stupid remark about cycling shorts.....understood....lol.....anyway....grandad did good...what a legend....

It’s never too late to begin!

I'm 62 and did this last year. Watching this has now made me feel young so hats off to Peter for an excellent effort.

I did not see any panniers (saddlebags) on his bike. Overnight stays at inns?

Saw his leaflet in a pub in Betty Hill whilst doing the cycle - proper beast, couldn’t believe it
Haha the place you stayed at around 13:00 minutes in.
I also met the dog at the inn you stayed in a few days prior, really nice place
It’s not the sugar cubes keeping him going… that man has the spirit of God! Amen
Well done, I hope at 90 I'll be able to do half of what you've achieved, I've made a donation 👍👍
Just donated, great ride and cause. World needs more people like Peter.

Rispetto e stima
Big respekt 👍💪💪
Well Done! Would have been a bit easier if he could have got rid of that front handlebar bag!
Very impressed, did he ever try knee replacement for arthritis?
sensational

What make of bike did he use?
It was a bespoke bike made for him by a local company I believe, not 100% on the company name. He needed extra low gears to get him up the hills!
Fantastik god man.
so the young ones shouldn't have any excuse not to do this!
i was about to ask why that young guy didnt ride with him....but then he made the stupid remark about cycling shorts.....understood....lol.....anyway....grandad did good...what a legend....
what an absolute legend, unbelievable
Hueg respect.
Don't say kilometers we use MILES in the UK.
Is he holy spirit filled? You can't serve God otherwise.
