Shueshia Vows to Destroy Dragon Ball Over Money Even after Akira Toriyama's Passing

- It hasn't even been 6 months since Toriyama the author of Dragon Ball passed away and you see companies feasting on his remains like vultures. Deciding who gets what and how they will produce Dragon Ball content going forward. With Dragon Ball Daima coming up in October 2024 in a few months. It could be the last project for awhile thanks to this dispute.
The future of Dragon Ball is looking bleak because companies rather destroy the franchise for money.

Bunch of vultures man
I hate how ppl at the top of corporations do this to legacy series once the creator of them passes. They're always money hungry, never caring for the property or the original fans that fell in love with the series the creator made
Sand land came out on Hulu
Kanye reference???
On Disney plus on Portugal sand land great anime I enjoyed I was watching Wednesday like x men 97
Fills me with grief again.
Disrespecting Akira Toriyama like this is just fucked up.
Especially that your disrespecting his creations in general, it breaks my heart that they would betray him like that
Akira was never going to be immune. It sadly happens all the time, especially with a franchise this big. There will be money ties all over the place. Him being alive was just a suppression until the money hungry demons try to take over.
Shouldn't Toyotaro have inherited the rights to DB? By all means he's the new master of it and he's Toriyama's successor

When it comes to anime and manga, a certain group of those fans like to think that Japanese companies are different from companies in Europe and America. But the truth is that they're not. They're just as greedy, sometimes more so.

Regardless of those remake's quality, Japan is starting to look awfully like America right now. Only a matter of time before it too falls.
@@daquanparker4261 Naruto has ended, you can choose to either ignore Boruto or not. Boruto is actually a decent read, so I guess what's wrong with a sequel if it's good? Just like BB and BCS in American culture

Who cares if it was a year or two the situation is messed up regardless ..
Reminds me when Stan Lee died..Disney owns a big part of Marvel..and now it’s sucks …all the movies and shows bomb …
Seems like a capitalism problem that let’s companies do this
Hasn’t even been 6 months this shows these companies don’t care about the creator they only care about what the creator produces
TPCI even trashed Akira Toriyama before he died, but replacing the inspired art style with characters looking like androgynous makeup dolls from California in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Higher-ups: Metaverse and AI...
HELL NAHHHHH at least Iyoku seems to care for Dragon Ball and Toriyama Sensei legacy.
Honestly if this is their plan today and for the future I'm glad that guy made his own company instead of being stuck in the old one
I know, right?! I thought they wanted to make money not widdle the series into the ground. Even if they get money from that, I can only imagine the series dying in the process vs going Ikoyu’s route would give continuous returns as DB has been giving since 1984. Why would you want to murder the cash cow they prize so much? Metaverse and AI sounds horrible!

@@ThomatoSauce it is really the Hitotsubashi group that owns Shueisha, but this is only for the manga.
Bandai leased part of the manga rights from Hitotsubashi group/Shueisha in order to pay less licensing fees to make merchandise off the brand..... This is why Bandai owns a large share of Dragonball already.... Bandai keeps the lions share of these sales and do this with almost every anime company. This is why they are a powerhouse.
Toei charges stupid high prices to lease the anime, which is why Bandai went to Shueisha instead because they lease it out for way lower price.
This is also why Toei Animation has lost lots of money over the years.
People forget anime bleeds money, and they have to pay investors and everyone involved. How much of that do you think Toei animation has left?
Toei Company will ALWAYS have money because they are one of the big conglomerates in Japan.
Toei Animation, however, doesn't share that luxury after not being able to sustain their current business model ......
If they made everything (merch, games, etc) instead of only anime, this would be a different conversation.........

As a Dragon ball fan I'm just disappointed over how they are treating the Dragon ball franchise as a opportunity to just make more money....I love the series and I just want them to release good content based on how Akira Toriyama envisioned his work to be, and ofcourse I get that they can't do that cause of all the dispute thats happening ......Looks like I will have to wait for a few more years to even get an anime adaption for Dragon ball super season 2😭
One thing is taking decisions because you need money to pay your employees, and keep your company afloat... Another, completely different, is dishonoring the legacy of one of the most, or even perhaps, THE most important creator in the history of manga and anime, solely because you wanna live in luxuries
"The world is a business" sure, but that phrase is also a double-edged sword: if they can't treat Toriyama-sensei's memory with the respect he deserves, we're entitled to not support their business anymore... The passion of the fans is far more valuable than the rights themselves
This is disgusting after all dragon ball has done for numeros people and they just want to use it for greed
This is what i was Afraid of when Akira Toriyama dies Dragonball going right along with him I knew this was going to happen. I think most real DB fans did. Can't nobody write dragon ball stories like him because dragon ball is a lot more complicated than any anime due to their powers. I have a feeling it's gonna become like dragon ball heroes makes no sense. The angel's going to get surpassed by a person with 0 Fighting experience and it took them 1 minutes. Wow, a company that cares more about profit than the legacy of an authors art and work...who wouldve guessed
Well that company Is what Is it because akira he deserve respect and support even after His dead
Speaking of that hypothetical... I'd see it as an opportunity to make something new, that's what Super was, it had complete disregard for what comes after and it barely cared about what came before, so it was it's own thing
Creatively, that's fine, it gices freedom. But as a DBZ fan that loves the End of Z... I would love to see Super be erased, I can't lie
This makes me think and realize, if Dragon Ball is going to be milked (which it kinda was before Toriyama’s passing) to over saturation and death. It makes think the series should be laid to rest altogether forever. Just like what happens to a lot of manga or light novel series where their author passes away. Toei Animation wants exclusive anime rights so anyone that wants to do Dragonball anime have to go through them. They will lose because they are losing money and TOEI Company (parent company) won't give them anymore loans.
Toei Animations operational budget is not that much.

Seems like we might have to start separating into Toriyama canon and Shueisha canon.
Man this is sad to hear...
It would be nice if they could put all this greed aside and reach a respectful consensus.
*Japanese companies like to boast honor and integrity yet they’re practically dancing on Toriyama’s passing*
We as fans can say that we won't accept anything new after daima.
Cartel not gonna be happy bout this😢😢😢
as if Dragon Ball Super was not made to further milk the franchise. It was like that even back then with GT.
DB now is an entertaintment IP, not just comic/animation IP. Just like superman, batman, spiderman etc
Proof?
@@Diogo85 the fact they have an amusement park should say enough lol
@@vmgomez87 And?
@@Diogo85 its hopeless lol. Good day.
I had a feeling they were going to do this. To be expected, and such a slap in the face to us dragon ball fans and destroying Akira Toriyama's legacy after death. Once daima is over I'm not watching dragon ball anymore even if they make a comeback with something else or use the manga to at least end Super. Keep in mind when they announced a theme park I was thrilled at first but looking back, if Akira Toriyama wanted it, he would give to us for fans but sadly money talks and the company is just using dragon ball for profit😔 sooner or later it will be other anime's after their creators pass away and that's just wrong
Majula music had me going crazy, thought i was imagining it lol
Toriyama sensei deserved better, what a shame, poor Dragon Ball 💔
I'm honestly it took them this long. Anytime there's blood in the water, corporations always dive head first. Especially when money is involved.
I see this as an opportunity for us as fans whoever gets the rights. If Iyoku gets it we support Toriama's vision. If Shueshia keeps it we drop it like the hot garbage they most likely turn it into
Here's to hoping Iyoku gets the rights to Dragon Ball
Yeah @@righteousone5119
I didn’t like Super anyways. I hope it gets scrapped
I have mixed feelings, it had good points, Goku Black paralleled Monkey King in Journey of the West. Which is what Goku is about. But on the other hand, Gohan was not as active, and future Trunks lost his charm. DB Heroes made it even worse... I don't even know if that was canon.😵Still, you can at least feel Toriyama writing in Super to some extent
@@williss1192 It’s okay if you like it which I don’t.
some are saying that Shueshia poisoned Toriyama for money. He's making deals with disney to sell it.
Devil's Advocate here: Akio Iyoku was head of the Dragon Ball Room from 2016 to 2023, when he resigned after his SAND LAND stunt. Before this, Shueisha tried to remove him from Dragon Ball Room, which is supposed to *only* have control over ideas for the Dragon Ball Franchise, in 2022 in order to move him to other projects. He refused, and as of his leaving Shueisha, insiders cited his over possessiveness to the Dragon Ball Franchise. These accounts are from articles months before Toriyama-Sensei's passing. The Article here praising his deference to the Author's idea, presents it as if Shueisha only NOW started saying things about Iyoku. No, they've started this since he resigned (Quit) and hired two of his former subordinates to start his own comapny (Employment Poaching) in August 2023. The response to this all from Akira Toriyama at the time, was deferment to the decisions and choices of Shueisha.
Now, Re-read that timing. Shueisha wanted him to move to other projects in 2022, leaving the Dragon Ball Room which was doing well, most likely to help out other flagging series in Shueisha's Catalog, and he refused. Then he goes around the entire company to make SAND LAND? A franchise not attached to the Dragon Ball Room, so it was out of his purview as an Editor in Chief and in even normal business senses, you don't move money to create a project wholly excluding the people above you from making any decisions. The fact that a few months later an ANIME ADAPTATION STARTED ON DISNEY+, Should set of Alarms. An Anime Adaptation of even a single cour takes longer than 6 months of planning now a days. But from July to releasing in March of the next year, recounting some of the same story, but ultimately expanded from the Film. If you go by those prior statements, Iyoku pushed forward with a Film Adaptation, and the Anime came out afterwards. Now again, look at the timing. 8 months after the Film Adaptation, *the same Animation Studios* made the anime, more expanded and covering more than the movie, with Shueisha angry that the Film was pushed out without any executive say. And again, LOOK AT HIS TITLE. He was head of Dragon Ball Room, The Editor in chief of all things Dragon Ball. SAND LAND is not Dragon Ball, he should have had no hand in the anime, but he for some reason pushed out a film, with the anime already in the works? And what did Akira Toriyama have to say about that stunt? That's right, refused to comment other than defer to Shueisha, but as a whole continued to distance himself from Capsule Corporation Tokyo (Akio Iyoku's new company).
Come to today. Dragon Ball as a whole has been marching along, until now when it's getting blown up that there's a huge rights battle over who owns the rights to Dragon Ball, after the prior agreement made while Toriyama-Sensei was still with us. An agreement that had already declared that anime and video game rights would belong to Capsule Corporation Tokyo and the Manga and written work rights would belong to Shueisha. Looking over what I said before, they're both to blame for this. Shueisha is a greedy stupid Company and Iyoku is a man who can't stop overstepping his boundaries.
