- In continuation with the celebrations for Dame Lansbury's 95th birthday:
Dame Lansbury is interviewed by Barbara Walters from her LA home, fresh off the first year of Murder, She Wrote. She also discusses her film career - as Walters notes, "she's averaged more than a movie a year" - and her successes on Broadway, as well as her family life. Notably, Ms Walters dug into her children's lives, and though it had been agreed beforehand to exclude this from the broadcast, it was shown nonetheless. Originally aired December 10, 1985.
My great auntie was a suffragette in London, and knew Angela's grandfather, who was was a mayor in London, my Great Auntie used to push Angela around in her pushchair in London.
Amazing
Amazing. Did she keep in contact with Angela?
Rest in peace Angela Lansbury 1925-2022
Murder She Wrote is still on Mon to Fri at 7pm in Toronto, Ontario. I absolutely love watching it and hate when I have to miss an episode. So much so that I downloaded the Amazon prime app onto my phone where I can access every single season and episode. In 2021 Murder She Wrote is still going strong!
Rest In Peace Angela! A truly incredible lady who's work is loved and enjoyed by people of all generations! 💖💖
What a brave beautiful strong lady. She is absolute class and such an incredibly talented person.
Angela could do anything include being a leading lady. Barbara's cattiness is totally uncalled for.
Few days before turning 97 !
A star but very humble and down to earth. Such a classy lady.Actress, producer, TV, theater, singer....I thought about her and "Murder she wrote" these last few days again. One of my favorite shows in the world! Forever one of the iconic and extraordinary tv successes of all time!beatiful tribute!💔⚘❤🙏🏻🪙🇮🇱✡🕎
This fan of Murder She Wrote watches reruns on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. Angela is great actress.
You always were and are a star! Also you are a class act Angela.
I have enjoyed many hours of Angela Lansbury in Murder she wrote. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
"She came, she saw, she conquered and absolutely nothing is the same . . ." 😉 Angela Lansbury remains an extraordinary and unique talent. One of the things that I find so interesting about her career is that she is as equally adept at playing monstrous mother figures (THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE, GYPSY and of course SWEENEY TODD) as she is warm "Mother Goose" like characters (MAME, Mrs. Potts in BEAUTY & THE BEAST, MRS. SANTA CLAUS, the Balloon Lady in MARY POPPINS RETURNS and Jessica Fletcher in MURDER, SHE WROTE). 🎭 I had seen this interview back when it originally aired but it was interesting to see again! Thanks for the post.
Barbara comes across as deeply unpleasant .
You as a person are blessed and gifted. Thank the Good Lord for you.
For a 'quiet' unassuming character, Angela Lansbury has had a full eventful life.
I remember this interview from years ago and cried with her then and just cried with her again.
It's remarkable that, at the time of this interview, she had nearly 40 years of continued success ahead of her.
And still moaned
Barbara made her cry?
I know she made a lot of people cry, but Angela Lansbury?
That bothers me.
I was very bothered by that! Barbara was very manipulative...
Look, maybe it's just me, but can people in these interviews stop asking Angela about her son? It's obviously a touchy subject and it's not fair to her. She had so many wonderful things in her life, why focus on that?
I felt bad for Angela during this interview. My heart was breaking for her. She is a wonderful person. She is a sweetheart I just absolutely love her. I don't think there is anything this lady can't do. An icon and a legend
I believe Barbara was pointing out negative things that did not need to be discussed, like her looks. Some of us think Angela is very attractive.
Angelea is suuuuper charismatic. She is gorgeous 💕and a strong ass women 💪. Super classy lady.
Barbara putting down Angela was totally unnecessary, and Barbara is totally uncouth.
Angela was HOT back in the 1940s, no question
Angela has always been hot. And this lady is B
I know Lansbury was unhappy with this interview, and said so. The thing is, she seems very comfortable discussing her family situation. The kind thing for Walters to do would've been to cut, allowed her to compose herself, and reask the question. This feels exploitive.
This was well done. What a remarkable woman-performer, wife, and mother. Walters handled the tough issues sensitively. I admire Lansbury's honesty and priorities. I'm sure a lot of what she said has been helpful to many parents, "Just be there."
Angela Lansbury has such a fine reputation as a wonderful actress and great human being! I knew about ten of the crew of Murder, She Wrote and they all adored her...
Shows just how amazing she is to have coped during a time when there was no help at all and still saved her son. Yet today many still die to drug abuse regardless of the help available.
‘I have two sons...’. Best comment on how she defines family.
Hello Tara
My mom and liked Murder She Wrote. Miss Landsbury RIP.
I watch Murder She Wrote on IMDB tv. 10 years of it are on there. Binge watching. I love it and I love her.
Angela was a brilliant actress
Why do they never mention The Manchurian Candidate?
I think Angela Landsbury is one of the classisty ladies to ever come out of Hollywood
Rest In Peace Dame Angela Lansbury, I miss you. 🙏🌹
RIP Angela Lansbury a legendary woman who make tv shows really awesome
Always liked Angela never knew about her life so this clip is awesome. Thanks for sharing.
There’s nothing like an ABC special from the 80’s.
Such vulnerability, warmth and genuine love. How much dimmer the world is now that she’s no longer with us.
Never did I imagine the Angela Lansbury had dealt with substance abuse in her family. She is such an inspiration
Her authorised biography from the 1990's is an incredible book to read. Heartbreaking in places.
and she dealt with, to save them
Rare treat - - a very personal insight interview…an exceptional showcase of the real Dame Angela in 1985…!
I absoultely love angela lansbury so very much , angela lansbury is my star especially in murder she wrote . Turns out in 1985 was when I was born , angela lansbury is so amazing and my all time favorite actress and singer
I can’t remember a time when she wasn’t on television! I didn’t appreciate murder she wrote when I was a child but I’ve binge watched it last year! She is so wonderful and almost feels like family.
I absolutely love Angela Lansbury and to me she was one of the best actresses I've ever watched and I love Murder She wrote I still watch reruns of Murder She wrote all the time. I watched her Dorian Gray and she was a very young and beautiful young lady and she still was a very beautiful woman in Murder She wrote.
What a way to make her feel better reminding her her house burnt down shortly afterwards
Angela Lansbury was so very special!!
In Barbara's later years in the public eye, I think she mellowed some and she was less intrusive and less RUDE to her guests. Consequently, my attitude towards her mellowed. When rewatching interviews like this one, I'm reminded how irritating Barbara could be and yes, right down RUDE! It is possible to be a good interviewer and not be rude.
Youre were breathtaking and still are .. I love you
Requiescet in pace, Dear Lady.
there is **NO** such word as **REQUIESCET**; YOU MEAN **REST** IN PEACE, RIGHT?
♥️Very inspiring, unlocking her destiny and taking the lead.♥️
Can we trade that bitter, old see-you-next-Tuesday Barbara Walters to get Angela Lansbury back? RIP Angela.
12/30/2022 - that aged well, but still want Angela back 🫶🏻
Please!!!
12:22 What a thing to drag up! Poor Angela is upset remembering that awful time and then Barbara brings up “oh and your house burnt down” brilliant compassion Ms Walters
I have the complete series dvd of murder she wrote and also the movies dvd of murder she wrote!
Much to learn from this amazing lady. Inspiration and a very good example how to.
Barbara Walters was so unlikeable here, like how dare you make Angela cry? This was during the first season of MSW and instead of talking about that success, she kept talking about her children's problems (which even at that point was a thing of the past).
she IS unlikeable. Always has been.
Nonsense. Every star who appeared on Walters’s shows knew what kind of questions she was going to ask. And Lansbury was certainly willing to discuss them. Walters’s audience liked these interviews, she always received high ratings. And what would you prefer, a wishy-washy interview where Walters was kissing everybody’s ass?
Barbara is always mean with her questions 🙄
Barbara could pray for 1000 years and never have half the grace, beauty (inside and out) and class that Angela has. She is an amazingly strong, funny and immensely talented 💕
She is the kind if a mother I wish I had she was a loveing mother what I wouldn't have gave too have a mother like her xxx
Great actress! Love the show! Great storyline each episode ends how Jessica solve who's the killer. The writers could've become a cop themselves.
This women is Amazing ❤
I think she was beautiful when she was young.
Still is.
Angela was appearing in the 1983 Broadway revival of "mame" with gigantic success and raves from the critics and the public. She was scheduled to be filmed in the Broadway version on Showtime and fate took another heartbreak for this talented and much loved little lady. Murder She wrote came to her at the same time and she had to pass up this wonderful documented opportunity. This is so very sad because we could have actually seen how wonderful and great Angela was on Broadway and what the world truly missed when she wasn't starred in the movie. I love this little lady so very very much and God bless her! 🤔😇❤️❤️♥️💞😓
Just love this woman!🥰
What a down to earth, revelation and incredibly honest interview! Lots of things about her personal life I learned about here!!
That's it? No part 2?!😭😭😭😭💔💔🕎✡🇮🇱
Shes so amazing!
She had class but also such a sweet lady.💕 Rest in peace.
I’ve always loved Angela Lansbury some of the movies that Barbara Walters had mentioned. I have not seen. But there are a few of them that I have seen such as Bedknobs and broomsticks. The animated movies of beauty and the beast. And beauty and the beast to. I loved her character Mrs. Potts.. But I will always love her as Jessica Fletcher on murder she wrote. I wouldn’t mind hanging out with someone as sweet as her. She really is a class act. I wish I could’ve had the opportunity to star in murder she wrote just for fun. And get to know her as Jessica Fletcher. In reality. Angela is just as sweet as her character Jessica Fletcher. Someone once said that 90% of Jessica Fletcher. Is Angela Lansbury. Angela Lansbury is very much like Jessica Fletcher from the interviews that I’ve seen. Angela Ansberry is just as sweet. In real life as her character Jessica Beatrice Fletcher. From murder she wrote I love you Jessica. Or should I say Angela Lansbury you really are a class act
Wonderful Woman and actress
Die begabteste, herzlichste und liebevollste Person überhaupt!! Danke Angela Lansbury ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
😰😨😥😕😓😰😨😭😓😰😓😰😭😭😓😰😭😓😓😭😭 RIP beautiful monster, unforgettable adorable Lady, yeah, the best and the perfect nanny l used to adore all the time, anyone willing to copy her? let us have back the gorgeous Jessica Fletcher guys, murder never sleeps and dealing with death threats is always the biggest challenge of all times, she used to help us.... learn how to be survivors, don't you think? she was such a great lady matie, the sweetest ever
Such honesty to say that Murder She Wrote didn't challenge her artistically. Of course it didn't
One would never know how hard a life Angela Lansbury had to live and go through. A successful woman is always plagued with a troubled family or marriage. She could never enjoy her success having to battle something no one knew behind the scenes.
One of a kind what an actress and a loveing mother ❤️ her
A wonderful woman !!
She was born in Belfast,
another reason she's wonderful !!!
Her mother, Moyna Macgill, was born in Belfast. Dame Lansbury was born in Regent's Park, London.
@@FolliesFan-yu8mf Thankyou

Barbara Walter's is the Greatest Interviewer- Ever.
The way she words the introductio. N is snide af!!
Walters just loved to diminish females. Walters has no cooth and could never touch the brilliance of Angela Lansbury. I, for one, knew that she had starred in National Velvet and Gaslight... she was nominated for an Oscar for Gaslight.
Tvee times she said tvee times
did she swear at 9:19 ish...love it
It best tv program for year
Angela you were uniquely beautiful .
Murder She Wrote Is The Best Series That Agela Performes
who is **AGELA**?
my favourite actress loved murder she wrote and she was so good in gaslight a great movie
they both left us this year :(
Watxa lady
One 'lady' so overrated and one lady was vastly underrated. It doesn't take much to work out who's who.
Both Barbara and Angela had incredible careers, although I'm sure Angela will be remembered more fondly.
How was Angela overrated? She's loved and respected in every part of the world.
What a wonder!!
ful person she was!
Why does Barbara's scarf have a g as an initial?
Barbara walters making her cry . Just awful
