  • The fantastic Barbara Walters interview of President and Nancy Reagan first aired on March 24 of 1986. Like a good book you can't put down, after just a few minutes of watching this you want to see it to the end. The Reagans were fascinating people.

Than you and thank you for watching, I agree, I have about 800 films that I am going to process this way eventually. I just wish the channel would pay more so that I could stop digging in pocket to find the funds needed to support it. I may just be paranoid but I would swear this channel is being shadow banned or something.

Ronald Reagan’s speeches and fluidity and sincerity answering questions was unparalleled- his optimism charisma and delivery made it hard for any reporter or bystander almost incapable of not liking or moved by him. Charming and heartfelt for 8 years really instilled a great deal of hopefulness and confidence in the American people and the press. If Trump who I think can be capable of replicating as I’ve seen flashes of similar sincerity and optimism would be better suited to take that approach in a deeply partisan “free” press even if they are deeply deeply biased and propaganda driven.

I miss the American collective when we all saw the same movies, TV interview specials - it had a wonderful connective effect amidst the American masses where anyone from anywhere no matter the state city or economic background mostly all collectively watched and knew similar cultural things like movies and TV in our society. It helped us feel connected, and hold connectivity between all of us. Now that’s all gone, and we feel more divided than ever. Who would have ever believed in 2024 after an assassination attempt of a former president and half the country believes it was fakes, the other knows it’s the deep state, and some don’t care at all.

Your digital transfer was exquisite! If I had lived through the Reagan era, I would have thought I was watching something recorded within the last 5 to 10 years actually.
And thank you so much for uploading this, truly enjoyed watching the interview. I thought Ron and Nancy were very poised and I think they answered Barbara's questions as honestly as they could given that they were still an office at the time. It's a very fine line... Between oversharing and being too guarded.
Oh and Nancy had great hair! 😀

Thank you so much, it’s very nice and people appreciate the quality of the work that I do. It is really hard to make some of the stuff turn out this good. Magnetic tape transfers or some of the worst. I was really fortunate that the tape was in good condition and I fell over I actually had to do the transfer did a really good job. Still a lot of work goes into editing it to remove all of the negative artifacts that come along with the transfer. Thank you for watching.

I enjoyed watching this. I grew up watching Richard Dawson on Family Feud so it was a treat to see him, too. When I was growing up I used to pretend that I was being interviewed by Barbara Walters LOL! I read that sadly she has dementia now. Thank you for your videos.

The Reagan’s were the last vestige of a press that didn’t have so much journalistic hatred toward Republicans, even tho they had an R next to their name versus a D the press back then was much more fair. They were tough at times but fair, and their was genuine charisma and respect flying mutually between the office and the press: it all went down hill after Reagan. The press always slanted left especially when covering Nixon, and lionizing Kennedy but also covered for LBJ. But with the Regans even during their most challenging crisis like Iran contra, drugs, and the aids epidemic they seemed to be more balanced in their approach to them. The White House at that time was the last time anyone of celebrity or elevated social status would be thrilled to be invited to a Republican White House and socialize with their White House. That ended after the Reagan’s. The only other time after the Reagan’s left the White House i can remember favorable coverage of a Republican executive branch was during Newt Gingrich contract to America during the midterms and winning back congress after so much time losing the house year over year, and after 9/11 with GW Bush. Other than that, the press slant has devolved into Pravda like publishing
