That's really cool!!! 😁 I've got a MODX too but I've never figured out how to program it like that! We should start a challenge to recreate that tune on whatever equipment you've got to hand!😁
Thank you Andy so much for getting back to me and allowing me to keep this track - I really like it. You have got a good talent as you seem to be doing a lot of things. I have noticed you had MODX and that was one of the reasons I wanted to make that video. I have only had MODX for about three days before making that video it was new to me. I am a yamaha synth user for over 20 years but MODX seems to have a different menus and operational logic - I have had to use the manual and watch a few tutorials myself to speed things up. I am planning to do a number of videos comparing the MODX - Montage - Motif XS. Also, are you happy with Fantom - I have to say that considering you had MODX and did not do as much as you have done on Fantom - I am under the impression that Fantom is a super easy to use and started looking into getting one. Would you recommend it?
Thank you for watching and for your comment. Unfortunately, I have sold my MODX in favour of Roland Fantom 06 so would not be able to do any tutorials. Thanks
Same stuff here - I think I should have all the backed up files so should be possible if I get MONTAGE one day. I may do similar videos on the gear I currently have to give you some ideas on doing the stuff like that. Thank you for your time!
Thank you so much for your comments. After a few days I also prefer my version as it seems to be more 'energetic' - not sure how to describe that. I hope to do more soon.
Awsome -- ive a MODX7. i wish i have 1% of your skill... you make me feel so pleased to have my Yamaha over anything else. Modern synths are so good there all perfect.
Thank you for your comment. MODX is the hardest synth to master I have ever come across thanks to its endless options and possibilities. So, sometimes too much GOOD could be BAD :-)
The lead and acid definitely sound better (professional)l on the Fantom 06, but for some reason, the bass and kicks blend better on the MODX (better separation). Obviously, with more tweaking, both can sound decent for some basic production.
I've got a MODX6+ but miss my Virus TI2 because of the supersaw. But then I come back to your video and it calms my GAS. What's the best way to get a supersaw on the MODX?
Ohh, you know... I was having exactly the same thought a few weeks after buying Roland and selling my MODX. I think it would be a great combo for sure!!! Thanks for watching!!!
Hi there and thank you for your comment. Apologies for the late response. I will try to make a few videos in the next week or so including the step-by-step you have asked for... Thanks
Thank you for watching the video and for your comment. For this one I have done every track myself but I do not mind using arpeggios. I have to say that when I want to do something serious I would never use arpeggios - it would take me much longer to find what I need as oppose to making one myself! Thank you for your time!!!
Hi there. My apologies - it is well overdue. I am currently busy with my main work but I will try to do it around Christmas time. Thank you for watching.
To say the modx is a cut down version it sounds pretty decent. What's the name of lead synth you used ? I have the modx and the hs8's but the wife prefers the headphones 👀 Loved watching thanks for the video.
Thank you for your comment. The lead sound I have used is made of three sounds. You can download it to your MODX from here soundmondo.yamahasynth.com/voices/94410 You need to use CHROME browser as it is the only one that can do the job, connect your MODX to your computer using USB, create an account (I think you need one to download the sound) and then click SYNC (when it is green - meaning the connection to your MODX is established) - and you will get the Performance to your keyboard. You would get all the sounds but it would not play anything. I am thinking of making another video with the explanations of how I have made this as well as how to pay it on your MOTAGE/MODX. Please keep checking my latest and I hope to make it within the next few weeks. Thank you
@@amateurmusicstudio I love electronic music and that synth lead is so dreamy. I will download it and thank you for making the video and look forward to the others.
Thank you for our comment. It is really challenging this keyboard to get those to work. For years I used to master any keyboard without any help videos or reading the manual but I could not operate this properly until I watched some of the tutorials available on RUclips. Please search RUclips as there are some nice tutorials that cover those topics. Thanks
That easy to turn MODX into a DJ machine or somthing like this. I think that you used the arpeggio function here. This wasn‘t clear for me watching the video. Totally incomprehensible to me, Yamaha did not even mention this function in promotional videos during the market launch of the MODX, whereas it was a big asset with the Motif back in the day. In my opinion, the MODX joins the ranks of arranger keyboards in this discipline.
Thank you for your comment. I am new to MODX/Montage series although I have been using Yamahas for more than 20 years ( a lot of them) and it was easy for me to adapt to any new keyboard released but MODX seems to have a completely different architecture of menus and operations. I will be doing the comparison video shortly between Motif XS and MOD and Montage. In this video I have not gone with arpeggios but recorded loops. I only had the MODX for 3 days before making the video and I was not sure what would work best for me but I have considered ARPS. MODX surprisingly is more powerful than a lot of people think but it comes with its own drawbacks too - I hope to make a separate video on this subject too. Thank you
@@amateurmusicstudio You can save your loops as user arpeggios. It is a bit tricky, especially when it comes to the question how the chord recognition should work. To share these with other users is not easy, too. I once wanted to demontrate that it works to share a custom arpeggio via Soundmondo. It was a lot of work, I must admit. There is a demo on RUclips: ruclips.net/video/oziTocsuX0c/видео.html I also used Yamaha keyboards for over 30 years and, yes, it was also a change for me at the beginning. But to compare it to the Motif, I do not want to go back. The possibility to save individual patch parameters with every user performance is such a big step forward. And the arpeggio function is much better than in the Motif XF: 8 patches directly playable through the keyboard instead of 4 and 8 scenes instead of 5! As a DAW user I miss the possibility to freely adjust MIDI channels to the patches. This should be corrected by the next OS update (Yamaha, please listen to us users). I look forward to your comparison of different Yamaha synth generations.
@@amateurmusicstudio Agree - the number of buttons you need to press to program anything is a bit overwhelming for the beginner... but it started to make sense to me after about 12 months of mucking around (part time).
Dude, that rocked ! You have mastered that machine.
Thanks mate - I am glad you liked it!!!

oh man, a showdown/face-off like this would be great!!!!!
That was perfect! This is exactly how the MODX should be used. Brilliant job & thanks for the demo :)

Thank you - I should be coming up with some great content (if you are interested in some music stuff)
That is SOOO FANTASTIC. I have just acquired the ModX7 and would absolutely love a tutorial on doing this kind of thing 👍🏻👍🏻
