I'm buying another Capri soon I ve barely got 4 grand together but I'm buying a 1.6 or 2 litre so just one with MOT that runs .....I used to pick these up cheap so I'm gutted for not keeping one stored away but I'll definitely keep my next one

I believe a lot of the increase in car sizes over the last few years is to do with the NCAP safety ratings. The bigger the car, the bigger the crumple zones which help protect the occupants. So as you say, the small cars of today are still bigger than medium sized cars from 25 years ago. If in doubt, make it bigger.
Great video. Ford Australia built a Ford Capri from 1989 to 1994. Was at the time accepted with mixed emotion mainly because of the small engine and it was front wheel drive and most Blokes down under didn't want a convertible as it wasn't thought to be giving the right impression unless you were a hair dresser. Some rare turbo versions are sought after today. To be honest the new cars being designed and built are being built for the the new generations with new families so they are never going to appeal to people like us. They aren't interested in working on cars and just want something reliable and new to drive around in.

The first car I ever bought brand new was a 1972 Ford Capri 3·0 GTXLR. A fabulous car by any measure. This new Capri is, in my opinion, a piece of junk and an insult to the name. Like 99% of EVs, it is bland, has no soul, and is unlikely to be fit for purpose. I wouldn't give it house room. Horrible!
As a kid I remember when the Capri was first launched, I was mad about cars (and still am) and the whole thing was so exciting. It seems to me that due to Government pressure, cars are fast becoming appliances, no more exciting than a dish washer. It’s so sad.
That thing is not a Capri ! The original had design & the closest thing to a soul for a car. They turned up in a number of tv shows back in the 70/80s . But those days are gone courtesy of climate engineering ,the real reason for goofey weather. What we see with EV reminds me of that East German car. But then when the west is slipping into Socialist state, then expect cars with no character & lots of grey concrete buildings !Want a Capri ,buy an original !
So it's on the same platform as the overweight and underpowered failure of a Mustang, the MachE. It'll cost about 40% more than it should, and have all the infrastructure problems that all EVs have, let alone considerations of the truth about the damage EV production does.
