Hitsugaya became so OP because as a zombie he lost any sense of kindness and honor, he fights without honor and his only goal is to literally kill you, no freezing you and he is not afraid losing his honor and stabbing you in the back if he gets the chance.
Also, my boy always chose Aizen to fight, so obviously you can see him only getting Ls.

If the zombie version fought these enemies he would break the ice into million of pieces and so break they frozen bodies into million of pieces as well or against Halibel he wouldn't show up after his clone got destroyed and explain his ability but he would try to sneak behind Halibel wait for the perfect moment and backstab her. Yhwach explained it perfect to Yamamoto why the Gotei from 1000 years ago was so much stronger than the current one, it's because the current one shows more feelings, feels more honor fights with honor, elegancy and pride while the previous one 1000 years ago was a groupe of bloodthirsty criminals who fought dirty and brutless.

Zombification done by Giselle does not make them stronger, only makes them emotionless and a ruthless killing machine, so what toshiro did is his own strength at display but as a zombie, since he has no emotions he can actually utilize his power to the fullest
He she never once in the series said that her zombification augments a persons strength it only just robs them of their emotions if turned into a zombie alive.But when you're dead you still retain those same emotions that you had from once you were alive but with the catch being that you're addicted to Gigi's juices

Most of Hitsugaya's Ls were against Aizen, and he effortlessly wrecked almost everyone in literal seconds. He was never weak.

Hitsugaya reached Bankai level before even attending shinigami academy. He manifested his zanpakuto spirit in real world, almost killing his ONLY relative - his grandma. You remember how Ichigo held back, fearing his own hollow - his own zanpakuto? Imagine that, but 10x more fear.
Hitsugaya is inexperienced, he’s emotional, kind and fears his own power would hurt people around him. He never was weak, he just holds back A SHIT TON. The gap between what he’s shown and what he’s capable of is like Ichigo first going into Soul Society and Ichigo now.

Fun fact: Yumichika realized that he couldn't fight a captain. That's why before kneeling he tried to activate his true shikai (the real one is called ruri'iro kujaku. The fake one is fuji Kujaku)

you just toxic when it comes to Hitsugaya. If you watch BLEACH with FOCUS, you will understand how powerful and potential Hitsugaya is. While he was kid, his reiatsu already dangerous WHILE SLEEPING so that he can freeze his own grandmother even potentially killing her. Since then, Hitsugaya was kinda promised himself to try to control and reduce his own reiatsu, in hope to keep everyone around him is Safe.
Also during Society Arc, when the first time Hitsugaya only release his Shikai against Gin, his Shikai only can change the weather in good scale. that was because the hatred and emotion start to get him. But after Momo arrive at that place, his starting to get soft again cause he doesn't want to hurt Momo during his fight with Gin.
And YOU have to remember, HITSUGAYA NEVER FIGHT in his 100% percent power against everyone his fight, cause if he go all out, the people around him will get the damage too.
Shawlong Kufang already state this while his fight with Hitsugaya, that HIS BANKAI is not perfect/mature enough!!!!!

The reason Toshiro is so much more lethal is because he's an "unfeeling corpse". Ywach talked bout how much deadlier the OG Gotei Captains were because they were cold and calloused. This is that exact energy he was talking about, except its being used against the Gotei. If all the captains fought like this right now, the war would have ended way quicker.
[Tidbits & Clarifications]
- The concept of Zombie Toshiro is very fascinating, Toshiro is not only the youngest captain but he's also the most pure-hearted and honorable. Here we get to see what what a more ruthless Toshiro looks like. He's concise, intentful, and creative, like how he uses the ice as an extension of his body to make a knee blade or even immediately seal his wounds the moment they occur.
- A ruthless Toshiro is also interesting because despite how he tries to appear as, Toshiro is a strong advocate of Justice, he's not the murdering type which was an ideal we've seen with his battles against Aizen.
- Shaku is obviously a unit of measurement in the soul society
- This episode shows why Askin was spot-on when he choose not to fight Mayuri, it's generally not worth the headache or risk.
- In the Manga version of these events Byakuya fights against the 3 Sternritter never happened, we only cut to them all being defeated. From what we understand we can expect tons of original and extended fights in the next 2 cours.
- Sidenote, the creator of Bleach Kubo is deeply involved with this Bleach Adaptation and last season or cour he hyped up the Yamamoto episode, a few days ago he hyped up the final two episodes of this cour.
I absolutely agree! Also remember Yhwach's words to Yamamoto how they have grown weaker by becoming more peacfull, more honorable and less bloodthirsty. You can see it with Toshiro the perfect example of how the Gotei changed in the past 1000 years after the first big quincy war and the zombie version shows us how the Gotei fought 1000 years ago in they prime when they were ruthless criminals and killers.

Theres a scene in manga with renji and Nanana before rukia asnodt fight that were cut out, in which im glad because that scene went absolutely nowhere. Shows Kubo Tite giving his all for this final season to be better than manga.

It was confirmed in a QnA by Kubo that the reason Pepe's love ability didn't work on Byakuya was because of the Royal palace clothing, same reason why NANANA'S ABILITY didn't work as well on Byakuya even though it even worked on Aizen

The powerscaling is done right here. Arrancars, who had no trouble with Bambietta, who is captain level, and other Zombified Captains, couldn’t handle Toshiro.

Hitsugaya only lost against Aizen who is op and he only lost against Bazz B because he didnt have a bankai.
bazz also had the elemental advantage, but he is also one of the strongest sternritter if you exclude the elites (id say maybe like top 7 or 8)

So his mentor vanishs, he gets promoted without full training as a liutenant, then has to face the 2 biggest threats in history almost back to back, its rough buddy😂

to be fair we know hitsugaya was a captain for less than 20 years at a maximum we know he became a captain a little after Ishin left to go to the world of the living (he was the 3rd seat) and lets say that it was 1 month before they made hitsugaya captain.
That means he has only been a captain for 20 if not less years, we also know that he was doing bankai training before isshin left so he probably only just got bankai recently maybe the same time he was put in charge of squad 10. and doesn't have that much time to train between running the whole squad and doing Matsumoto's paperwork as well. Also byakuya said in seireitei that it takes 10 years to learn bankai and a further 10 to master it however that is if they are mature however Toshiro is young meaning his bankai is weaker which is why he focuses on skill rather than brute force. The reason he takes L's is because he doesn't have the raw power necessary to take care of those major threats like aizen or harribel
kubo said on his website he achieved bankai before he became a gotei 13 member. but yes readily trained with it
Histugaya has always been this cold especially when compared to the other soul reapers and for his age but the opponents these guy's fight just make it seem like hes weak.
Even in death, Hitsugaya is still susceptible to mind tricks.
I mean you need to stop fixating on Hitsugaya Ls for a second, the kid isn't that bad if you actually consider looking at his overall track record, he still won most of his fights through the entire series.
For Captain, i'd say he's somewhere in the middle and definitely still better than let's say Soi Fon or any other Lizard member (yes i called them that instead of Vizard cause you know why).

Candice looked down at her soaked Stern Ritter uniform. "Yeah. Every time I came to my senses, all I wanted was to purge the stench of that bastard off me. So, I got with whoever was available to me and dressed myself like this so that I could attract anyone I wanted. So there it is." The greenette shrugged and let the rain hide her tears. "I'm a whore. The hybrid and the Quincy stared at each other as the storm raged around them. It was taking all of Ichigo's spiritual pressure and Candice's Blut Vene to keep themselves from getting blown off the roof.

"I said I'm looking for Amanda Huggenkiss. I don't know why someone like that would be doing hanging around in our barracks but-"
Kenpachi was interrupted by the uproar of laughter coming from his subordinates. A few of them even fell to the floor while holding their side. Of course, being immune to most emotions unless battle was involved, this only served to annoy the 11th Kenpachi. "What the hell are you laughing at? I said I want Amanda Huggenkiss! Where can I find Amanda Huggenkiss! Oh, why can't I find Amanda Huggenkiss?"
"I-I don't (wheeze) know!" Yumichika replied between laughs. "Maybe your standards are (wheeze) too high!" The already booming laughter became deafening as Kenpachi finally began to piece together what was going on.
"Hold on a second..Amanda Huggenkiss...Hey! Is this a prank? Who the hell is this?" He roared at the Hell Butterfly which was already on its way out the window. "Hey! Get back here!"
While everyone play checkers, Aizen play 4D chess and Mayuri just burn down the orphanage for science while playing checkers with everyone.

Nanana being defeated too quickly like that felt odd lol. As for Candice, it's understandable she got defeated quickly here. Not only did she get her ass handed to her by Ichigoat previously, she took a direct hit from getsuga jujisho and got wounded by Bazz B's burner finger 1. At this point she was pretty damn exhausted fighting a full powered Byakuya.
As a manga reader, I feel sorry for the people who talk shit to my boy, Hitsugaya Toshiro, the captain with the strongest ice bankai.

Mayuri's drug used to make the victim playing the same scene just like Itachi's Izanami BUT it took less steps. Both can affect the brain of the enemy but it all depends on the way to make it happen.
And there is literally no way to break out if it. Like a built in exit if you're accepting yourself.

My problem with hitsugaya is he has so many appearance in the manga (more than most captains at the end) but he consistently is written to take Ls. If he had a couple fights where he just handily beat his opponent I wouldn't be so disappointed in him as a character.

That fight was done at that point. Seems like a win to me, though I will concede the lack of damage his ice seems to do, which is annoying. His first fight with Halibel literally the same thing. Dude froze her for ages before she was broken out of it by an outside force - again she did not break herself out of said ice but that first fight ended when he froze her- Cang Du once he got his Bankai back was a win, In the immortal words of Bazz B, Cang Du 'Got his ass whopped, what a joke' pretty cut and dry if you ask me. Yukio was barely even a fight, Toshiro could've done that in his sleep. But you're right all complete L's.
