I am a science teacher at secondary school in Sweden. Your videos inspired me to make two 20 liter closed ecosystems with water from a local pond and place them in a display case in the school entrance hall. I made them in august and they have come along very nicely. The kids love the boogie worms. Remember to not wear your self out while studying. A masters degree can be quite demanding, but also great fun. Much love to you!
@@maanmgr6614 my video making skills are nothing compared to the videos here, and I do not have the equipment nor the time. But I do love the videos of this channel, the high quality filming and extensive knowledge of the species is awesome.
I remember buying shrimps from some dude on Marktplaats, and when I went to pick it up, it was you! 😂 I was like.. wait.. I know this voice... Lifeinjars right? You were very friendly, and also surprised that I recognized you. I am sorry that I was in a rush and couldn't go up stairs to check your projects. Anyway, cheers mate, I am currently back in Brazil, let me know if you want to come here to collect some samples.
14:23 is that someone walking a chicken? 😂 Also, fellow ecologist here. I completed my masters this year where I studied jellyfish venoms and discovered a new venom protein. I became a new dad the same month that my degree started and everyone doubted my ability to juggle being the priority parent and study at the same time but I persisted and successfully graduated. I believe in your ability to juggle your passion and your hobby! You can do it! Do it for science!
I hope you keep befriending crows, they're some of my favorite videos. Thank YOU for putting your precious free time toward making it so we can come on this journey with you. I don't know how long I've been here, but I always look forward to watching even my notifications tell me you've posted. I can at least say for myself that I can be as patient for more content as you need us to be. I want you to pay daily, but if it means they're better Videos, you're able to focus on more, and you're happy and comfortable, is prefer to wait. YOUR HEALTH AND SANITY COME FIRST! Happy holidays jar mate.
You've inspired my family quite a bit over the years. We've been experimenting with and observing different self-sustaining ecosystems in different containers and it's been a fun hobby. Now that I'm in a new home, I'm going to restart it all and document what I will do. It's been great watching your videos!
Another Jars video! It's been awhile since I've watched your stuff. I've seen sick all week and still sick, so might as well rest and re-watch some of your old stuff again and catch-up on other stuff I missed.
I've been watching for a long time at least five years. I love this channel you are one of my first favorite channels. Thank you so much for all the awesome videos!
*Getting distracted by your GETTING DISTRACTED BY BIRDS*🤣 I have a hard time believing its only been 7 years since you've been streaming. I must have caught you in the beginning. I'm glad I did. Thanks for sticking with us and for all the great content. I look forward to another 7. ☺
Always a delight how you tell a story about your varying lives-in-a-jar. Over the years I've seen you get more and more refined, entertaining, knowledgeable, wise, and self- and world-aware. Typing this out makes it all feel very para-social, but I wish you all the best. We will be here, just a post video away
Each and every video you post is a joy to watch, such a cozy vibe with interesting commentary and cool things to see. I'm really happy for you, the scientific career you're pursuing is quite awesome and fitting lol I hope this comment finds you well and I look forward to new videos, those taking as long as you need them to.
I have two jars that are both over a year and half old, i don’t have a camera that can capture the super small stuff, but the plants are going strong. I also have some new jars filled with mud and plants from the Mississippi river. They’re currently algae filled, but some other plants are still going strong. You inspired me to try my hand at this hobby, and i love it. So, hello from the Arizona deserts. Next up, i’m going to try and make a jar from the Burro Creek not far from my homestead.
I have several jars that are a few years old now, thanks to you! I really love your videos, they are quite inspiring! I enjoy peeking in my jars every day and seeing the life happening inside them 😊
I enjoy every one of your videos, even if sometimes we have to wait a bit longer. That is 100% understandable, especially since the reasons are so commendable. Keep up the good work, and keep looking dapper! Good luck with those studies!
I’m proud to say I’ve been watching for most if not all of your 7 year journey and I’ve loved every bit of it. My attempt to study aquatic biology was met with complete failure and I left college after a very uninspiring 1.5 years. Even so, it brings me great joy that I can live out my dream vicariously through your channel. I appreciate you, keep up the good work
i'm relatively new to the channel and it's lovely to hear your reflections on how things have gone!!! a master's degree is no joke, take all the time you need.
Excited for ya, man. I'm not the most active watcher, but I've kept this sub and just been happy seeing a new vid pop up. Take care to rest well between studies 🎉
This is my first visit here, and I must say I’m very impressed with your extreme professionalism and knowledge. Keep up the great work my friend. I’m glad to have found your channel and look forward to future videos.
this is the vid that got me hooked on gathering my own ecosystem, never stop (unless you want to) (not to say i havent watched before, i just broke and will finally walk up to my national river and get dirt water)
Hello, just found your channel a couple of days ago and I am thoroughly enjoying your videos. You're subtle comedy makes me smile and your narration is very calming. I love how your videos showcase how complicated and fragile ecosystems are, even "tiny" ecosystems in jars. I think more people would benefit and would treat the world a bit kinder if they saw your videos. Good luck with your masters!
Thanks for sharing the progress. Wow that layer of ostracod poop is so high lmao. I think the jarmy just has inherent patience because we know these jars can go months without a noticeable change.
My absolute favourite channel on RUclips. I love the music, the accent, the scientific information and the updates on projects. Iv been subscribed for at least 5 years now, and I look forward to many more!
I adore you and your videos, been subscribed a while, years at this point, perhaps. Takes me a day or two to catch up on new releases from my subscribed channels, so I apologize for not watching this sooner. After watching this, I had to go back and rewatch some of your older videos, a little trip down memory lane, and it warmed the heart just like the first time. I am glad you are out in the world, doesn't matter to me what you're doing, whether you're constantly posting videos or once every 6 months or longer, just knowing you are out there living your life brings me a degree of comfort. The world is a better place with you in it. I wish you the very best in your educational pursuits in the coming year and all that you seek to accomplish and explore. You're a gift to us all and we're all grateful.
Found this channel many years ago back when there was a short list (10 or so) of uploads. Among the plethora of subscriptions I have from music, memes, mechanical engineering to chemistry. I still get excited when there is a new upload to this channel. Love your stuff.
Glad to hear the jar is still alive - I hope your Corvid friends are all good too. I hope the Masters goes/is going well and I hope you had an amazing Christmas (or Wednesday if you don't partake in it). Here's to many years of success for you. Also - 13:38 You might say "Life... uh... Finds a way" - Jurassic Park xD
oh my lil round vidua ostracods, seeing them talked about in a video with thousands of views when i thought i was the only nerd that had any interest in them makes me so happy! i keep them in tiny test tube and mini planted vases~ they can live and multiply in basically anything that contains water. once a week or so i feed them bits of veggie peels from cooking and they just keep thriving. fun fact, their shells become more spotted the darker their substrate is.
Been around since your third vid. Always glad to see something of yours pop up on my vid. Never been big on biology or sciences but you've taught me so much about it over the years. Thanks for your videos
If you have a similar jar that has been sitting and is nearly extinct or completely extinct it would be interesting if you could add only one tablespoon of pond water. I love to see if it would repopulate or have a genesis affect on the barren landscape
Dammit, I wanted to see you do another "Boogie Worm" Dance! Thanks for the videos mate...been subscribed for almost the entire life of the channel and it's one of my favorites. Put out vids when you can and don't stress about it...well be here when you have time to make one. :)
Your videos improve the quality of my life. I really mean that. Looking at the small realms seems to put the bigger picture in view. It was all new to me when I found your channel.
I enjoy all your videos !! Just keep studying and go for that masters degree. That's the most important thing in your life right now. So go get it !! We will be waiting patiently or impatiently but we will wait. Have lots of fun learning all at cool stuff !!!
A fantastic achievement, young man! It's been equally fascinating watching your path of growth, and the lessons you've learned along the way. Keep up the good work and all the very best in your more formal studies! Your parents must be very proud.
Heck, where has this channel been? I’m only two videos deep and I’m loving it. I’m already an avid terrarium-maker. I might have to change gears! Congrats on 7 years! Study hard!
good luck on your masters! I'm sure you will do fantastic. When you have any time, we will be here waiting on your next update. Thank you for your channel. It has inspired so many. :)
Hey dude, I love your videos and am so so happy to hear you're pursuing your masters! I look forward to your next projects no matter how long it takes you to make them.
I hooked into Life in Jars about 4 years ago now. I do look forward to all your uploads. How fascinating these closed ecosystems are. I really enjoy your drôle presentation style which makes me chuckle. And I have learned a lot . When was in my teens ( in the 1960s!) in Northern England I kept an aquarium stocked with local pond water, not closed but I rarely put in any food but did add and then release after a while some guests such as newts (now a protected species so highly illegal to keep in an aquarium!) and minnows. It was fascinating seeing how to balance the tank. Please keep up the good work and don't forget to let us see our friends the crows from time to time. But please focus on your studies, that should be your priority now. And thanks again for the pleasure you have given!
I started watching your videos around 2019 I think. I started because you were collecting isopods and I had just started learning more about them myself. I used to play with them as a kid, but then I grew up and didn't think they were something I needed in my life. (Boy, was I wrong.....I breed them now) It's always a pleasure to watch your videos and learn more about the teeny-tiny world that most people ignore. Thank you for continuing to entertain us with your wonderful sense of humour and knowledge! Peace! ✌️
Wow, easy there tiger. All that emotion is going to make me tear up. Dial it down a notch! Honestly. This channel is wild. My 13 year old loves your videos. And so do i!
I rarely comment on videos, but ive been watching your channel since around early 2018. While my youtube content consumption is usually more in the gaming space, ive consistently watched your videos for these last 6 years.
I love watching your videos, you are such a silly and cute boy with fascinating interests. It's always a delight to see what you're working on. It's been fun to see your style evolve over the years and your confidence on camera develop.
Thank you so much for your content! I agree that your findings are absolutely fascinating, makes my inner child happy to discover the natural world for curiosity's sake again. I'm one of those early viewers and I'm so proud of how you're pursuing your passion for science for your higher education, keep it up and we'll patiently wait until you're back again! Also please update us on how the crows friendship is going. Cheers from an old lady watching ❤
:') Feels like I binge watched your first handful of videos just the other day. Happy 7 years, Life in Jars! ❤🎉 Can't wait to see what good the new year brings to you my friend. Seasons greetings, Merry Christmas, happy new year, and all that jazz. And well done on all of your hard work and achievements! Life is certainly what you make of it, and it seems you're making the most of it.
Wow, can’t believe I’ve been watching for 7 years. Since I’m an OG, does that make me a general in the Jarmy? In all seriousness though…. it’s been a joy to watch (listen) to you grow over the years and develop into the fine young man you are becoming. I wish you all the best in your continued endeavors with your education and look forward to what you will bring to this world. Who knows, you may become the Dutch equivalent of Sir David Attenborough one day.
I plan on doing this with a few sources ive had at work. I do pest control. I have a customer with a fountain with loads of seed shrimp in it, another near a pond with native aquatic plants with beetles and back swimmers, and another customer with a small pond with various things unseen. Inspired to start tomorrow 😊 I have a great jar to start with

Can you make a video log of that
You must be a great teacher. Much respect to you.
Wholesome!

LOL awesome
Thanks for sharing. Such a small world sometimes.
Wholesome Come to Brazil moment
As a new fan I’m so jealous
I would have cleared my whole day to go up and have a look at the collection and projects!
this was the original jar that got me onto this channel, glad to see it still kicking after all these years
same
Same! This was my first jar, and I am so happy to see the snails are still alive and kicking!

It's a dog haha but I understand the confusion
Bro got pneumonia and decided to put some river water in a jar.
This would forever change the course of his life mildly.
I hope you keep befriending crows, they're some of my favorite videos.

We need pt 3
Congrats on 7 years and pursuing your Master's!
One thing I’ve always loved about your videos is the jazz music you play while showing footage of the jars!
i always love these updates, and i ADORE that mysterious worm!!!!! congrats on 7yrs! 💜

Happy christmas LJ fans!
The emperor of jars biosphere is alive!
Thankyou for all the years of chill ecosphere and crow befriending videos :)
Been around since your third vid. Always glad to see something of yours pop up on my vid. Never been big on biology or sciences but you've taught me so much about it over the years. Thanks for your videos
Your channel is my favorite cozy ecosystem on here :)
It's been a wonderful 7 years
Good to see you, and Happy New Year! Don't wear yourself out, that Master's isn't going to be a walk in the park :)
If you have a similar jar that has been sitting and is nearly extinct or completely extinct it would be interesting if you could add only one tablespoon of pond water. I love to see if it would repopulate or have a genesis affect on the barren landscape
Seven years of observing life in jars!
What no one never expected to see was so much life in our little jar of a community here!

Please continue to update us! You have a loyal audience ❤️👍
Another year of enjoying your channel. Much love.
I remember this channel I've been watching since the beginning
One of my favorite RUclips channels! Always excited to watch a new life in jars video
Wow, you've made it so far in life and on this channel!! Congratulations 🎉🎉 looking forward to the future with this beautiful community
I've only been watching for 2 years, but it feels like longer! Thank you very much for sharing your jars with the world!
Your videos improve the quality of my life. I really mean that. Looking at the small realms seems to put the bigger picture in view. It was all new to me when I found your channel.

Hey dude, I love your videos and am so so happy to hear you're pursuing your masters! I look forward to your next projects no matter how long it takes you to make them.
Yay glad you’re back
Life in Jars upload... nature is healing
Your content is truly inspiring! This is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while. I’ll be putting one together tomorrow!
I love this channel.
I started watching your videos around 2019 I think. I started because you were collecting isopods and I had just started learning more about them myself. Thank you for continuing to entertain us with your wonderful sense of humour and knowledge! Peace! ✌️
Loved this jar vid...keep up
Wow, easy there tiger.

13:28 "Life...Boom in your face!" I didn't expect that...Life, I mean.
What a christmas treat
these videos are so chill.
Thank you so much! Crow update will come at some point!
Amazing to see, you always make exciting projects

Happy 7 years life in jars ❤
Thank you for the 7 years of interesting and relaxing videos.
Awesome dude.
Love how basic these videos are on the surface.
I feel inspired
This video of life in the jar is very inspiring. Thanks for doing this and for sharing it! 😊
So many wonderful internet things have started "with nothing but a glass jar and a sense of adventure".
🎄Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!🎄

Inspired to start tomorrow 😊 I have a great jar to start with
