Most people just don't have the money to buy a totally different wardrobe every year, so yeah, many still wear the same things that were "popular" or "common" maybe 5-10 years ago. Trends are made so that people follow them and buy more and more things they might not necessarily need in the first place.
one bag i am seeing EVERYWHERE across a range of age groups as well is the uniqlo shoulder bag. it appeals to a range of ppl because of its style and functionality, being able to hold quite a lot and also its about £15 so quite cheap
That's so interesting to hear your perspective! I live in the Netherlands and actually you do see most of these trends irl, especially in the bigger/younger cities. But it's a mix of both, really, of the newer trends and the older ones you mentioned. I was shocked with what you said about skirts, so many people wear skirts here! Hard to imagine it not being worn. Capris and see through (on the bottom half) is something I have not seen that much of yet, but all the others 100%, and not even just by the die hard fashion people, but pretty normal people, too.
Same in Iceland they do have the online trending stuff but in more Iceland friendly like low rise are really much here but like also in flísbuxur (don’t know what’s that in English, it’s like thick pants) and more stuff but many layers are common here but also like thick clothes that show your figure idk how to explain it cus we have the Icelandic clothes and party clothes/summer clothes cus we all know gotta look good even know it’s -15 💅 just at a úlpa and your fine. But it’s really actually complicated cus we have many different styles but most us look the same when it’s cold. Black and lil white. I could go on and on so I’m gonna stop now. Edit: check out 66°north you will see what most of have at least one thing of. Also really recommend if you live in a cold place get the úlpa like skiing úlpa it’s the best. Úlpa means puffy jacket but I’m not calling it that cus it’s dumb.
Love the video! As a teen from a medium sized city in england, i do see most of these in real life, i definitely also see people wearing more 'normal' clothes but the more 'chronically online' type of fashion i do see often (mostly on young people as my city is a big univercity city, which may play a part) but i definitely think it depends on location as i dont think id see the same in englands small towns or villages!
I live in Saint-Petersburg (Russia) and people here are actually wearing most of online trends in real life. But mostly you can see this at nightclubs, restaurants and other fancy places in the centre of the city. You immidiately can tell who has the pinterest board 😉But this never been the majority of people of course.
I often see something trendy at pinterest or instagram and like it, think it looks good but when I actually see someone wear it in real life I often cringe internally because of how different or out of place it looks when took out from perfectly crafted photos on social media. For example the insane amount of charms on bags. It would be so annoying to walk around with so much shit attached to your bag, the noise it would make with every step, having it get stuck on things, especially if you use public transport. Literal nightmare irl but looks somehow good on pictures
ohh! I experience something similar but quite opposite, sometimes I wear an outfit and I love how it looks in real life, but when i try to photograph it or make a video it looks weird
It was so interesting to hear this point of view ! I live in Paris, and I actually see most of the trends online irl, at a point where it sometimes feels forced - when you see mesh top mixed with motor boots and a trendy bag too. Here, I do see almost everyone (I saw a comment pointing it out) the small crossbody bag from UNIQLO is EVERYWHERE, and everybody owns one. I also see loads of sambas, dr martens, and all different kind of specific trends that you'll never expect to see in person, such as cottagecore or very witchy outfits that were popular around 2020 on tiktok. It is honestly so fun to see how much people can be experimenting with their styles. However, it is not a majority that has this "trendy" style, and it depends on the neighbourhood. Around the center, since it is a very touristic area, people get out more and have more fun styling crazy clothes or "out of the norm" ones !
This is so interesting!! Paris does seem like a very fashionable city, it’s one of those places where almost everyone seems to be into fashion. It was my favorite city fashion wise out of the ones that I visited in 2022. And yes people have pointed out UNIQLO a lot, I don’t see it a lot online but it does seem to be super popular IRL (in the bigger cities ofc)
I live in Poland in in of the largest cities and i bearly see any of the online trends on the streat but there are some "uniforms" for people in different age - most of the teenagers are wearing jords or other baggy jeans, very baggy tshirts or crop tops, most of girls my age (24-30) are dressing in clean girl aesthetic, women over 30 are wearing skinny jeans or straight jeans, blazers, tshirts.
I'm am a cronically online Turkish girl living in Germany. whenever I wear something trending online in real life, everyone stares at me. like, they STAAAAREEE at me. not a very nice feeling I must admit :)
we, slavic girlies, like to dress up on every given occasion! even if we go to the nearest grocery store, we keep in mind we have to be neat, clean and look nice (not overdressed though). as for online trends - our teens, especially in big cities, wear them all the time! hard to go in any mall or central street without seeing at least some pieces that is on trend in tiktok rn. girls in their twenties and older prefer timeless basics
yeah! specially in big cities like monterrey you can see a lot of variation between what’s trendy and what’s used in the “real life”, going outside of san pedro, you can see a multitude of alternative styles that follow certain online trends. loved ur take on the topic!
I love this, i used to work in a small city just last year and i saw those tiktok trends everyday , nearly all young adults were wearing the clothes , makeup , hairstyle , now that i am in a big city , i honestly never see anybody dressing like this , they probably are some but i dont cross paths with them
I am from latinoamerica , a small city is geographically small, modern , you could walk everywhere, but it was full of people , i worked in sales and i crossed paths with my costumers on the daily , now i live in a big city and i never cross paths with anybody like is so big it takes me two hours to go my work everyday
@@SieMiezekatze oh makes sense! that might be the reason, i use my car most days as well, so i don’t see people as often as I did when I was traveling and walking everywhere
great video! I think with the type of jeans it's just a matter of time. most people are not going to get rid of all their jeans overnight. they get one that is wide and low rise, because that is getting more prominent in the stores right now, but still wear what they already have. it will take over, but it is going to take longer time.
thank you!! 💗 and yes for sure, i actually think bootcut jeans have been slowly coming back, i can see them getting more popular soon, it’s a big change from the very wide jeans we’ve been using. I think we’re getting close to the 2007-2010 20 year trend cycle, so it’s going to be interesting to see how people navigate this!
this reminds me of a video i saw of someone talking abt brands like hermes or cartier that gave ppl the "ick" bcs of the oversaturation online but that actually, irl, not everyone is all dressed with hermes bags and love bangles
so true!! only a few people can actually afford a hermès bag, but there’s a lot of oversaturation online for sure, i guess the internet might be the reason why we get tired of trends faster than ever before
@alisonodette exactly, being able to convey things so fast now makes ppl tired and sick of things way faster than usually. but when we go out and see irl ppl, we realise that not everyone is able to afford those luxury things that we also do not need as much as they can suggest
exactly!! it’s a chronically online thing, kind of unavoidable at this point in time because we need the internet for everything, but it’s good to be aware of it!
@alisonodette yes definitely! it can be hard but now that we are able to be more and more informed abt all of this (the differences between online and irl, fast fashion consequences), it makes it easier to keep this mindset in mind
In Mexico City I do see this trends but only in certain circles of people and neighborhoods (more hipster, artistic, alternative, etc.) but no WAY you see someone wearing the blokette trend lol, I think because mexico being such football culture you will look so crazy in a café on a tuesday looking like you are on your way to the stadium on a Saturday.
Oh, as a teen I actually used to wear a mesh shirt pretty much everywhere, and I even had a mesh sweater that same year. My classmate also used to wear something like that... I was looking to get something like this again, they are actually very comfortable for summer, at least to my sensory stuff. It's pretty funny for something so niche to become a trend though, I have never seen those outside of me and my classmate wearing that 😅
I guess my city is trendy lol cuz I just saw a woman in a sheer top yesterday. She paired it with stiletto lace up boots. Her friends were with her and were dressed more “normal” 😂
loved the video! i'm brazilian and agree with all you said. fun fact: i don't think i've ever seen a bag by Binby Lola here, but i do see a lot of bags really similar to the one you showed! i actually have one exactly like that, black with the black and white handle
I love this idea! I live just north of toronto 🍁 we have some fashion people in my city, but it’s mostly leggings and 2010s shorts. I usually stand out for being in styles mostly found online
Owning 5 different style black skirts has given me a plethora of outfits. You can go from soft and chic to grunge and rocker in seconds switching the tops :)
Ohhh i love 90s tv showss!! Obsessed with everything sex & the city, buffy summers, cordelia chase, the nanny, rachel & monica, 90’s style was unmatched
When I’m home from university, I live in a mid-size city in California known for being low-income and older. I get a lot of stares because I tend to dress well even if I go out briefly, many people go out in leggings and pajamas, and friends here ask me why I don’t 😂 But at my university town, people are much more trendy and I feel more at home or even underdressed.
Oh hey! number 9 I actually do haha. I have lots of patterned skirts and I love wearing them. But I do feel I stand out when I do, as nobody else is really doing it. Mostly I see jean skirts (either short or long) or plain beige wrap skirts. And here I am. Wearing ones with florals, wrap skirts both short and long, button up skirts, black+fuchsia ones with buttons, straighter ones with tiny polka dots and a floral ruffle at the bottom. I pair them with sandals and with higher boots when it gets colder too. Loving them. If I could I'd wear them every day and never wear jeans ever again
most people in the uk in their 20s and teens wear baggy jeans with everything like, baggy jumpers, tank tops, oversized cardigans, north face puffer coats
I live in Warsaw, Poland. Here, especially in the city center, you can see a lot of people dressing in fashionable and original ways. You can spot TikTok trends and Pinterest aesthetics everywhere, really. However, I get the feeling that the farther you go from the center, the more 'ordinary' everyday outfits become. And what's funny, living on an estate gives you an impression that everyone is dressing comfy (shorts, t-shirts, sweatshirts etc.) and has only the one pair of shoes: flip-flops xD
From a Barcelona girl you’re right abt bimba y Lola. I don’t particularly like the brand but on the streets you see many people wearing those bags. And even in school, there is a particular bimba y Lola bag that’s pretty big and many girls use to go to school
In place where I live people are wearing clothes from thrift shops, cheap brands or "no name" brands (whitch a lot of em doesn't exist anymore). I don't see people with expensive things, they also don't like to wear big af "gucci" logo on shirt, but just basics. I'm wearing everything that's comfortable for me. I dont understand a lot of trends cause usually those aren't practical. For example I need pocets in jeans, cause when I go to work I like to "feel" keys inside (that make me feel safe), the same thing I have with high waist pants cause I know that nobody can see my underwear. Even when I go to sort of big city I don't see a lot of people wearing trends, but when they do than they are wearing it in their own way and also what I see is that each of em have their style and I think it's cool btw nice video ^^
thank you! 💗 yes it totally varies depending on where we are. I guess some cities are more prone to trends than others, and I also think there might be some things that are just trending online, and are harder to spot irl for sure!
The jorts and max jewelry is definitely popular with younger girls (teenage middle and high school). But also they have more time for trends and of course youth!
I live in Spain actually these trends are popular, the jords are everywhere + samba, you can see as well a lot of long skirts in south of Spain when girls go out
I'm in early 40's and live in a small UK coastal town. I wear a lot of these trends you say you've never seen in real life. I love to layer with sheer pieces. I collect and wear full sheer tulle skirts. I layer dresses and skirts over jeans, trousers all the time also over Adidas trousers with kitten heel pointed shoes or boots. I only wear 100% cotton jeans straight and wide leg. I also wear mens baggy wide leg jorts. I wear layers and layers of sterling silver bangles, rings and necklaces with pendants. Everybody else here are all still living in leggings, track bottoms, skinny jeans. It's so boring. I actually receive comments quite often saying it's nice to see someone wearing something different and unique. I also get looked up and down a lot and looks of disgust. But I love the way I dress it makes me happy. I don't think not seeing anyone else or "in real life" should stop you if you want to try these looks and trends. Who knows you may find you love it.
oh i love that!! you sound like you have an eye for putting things together 💗 maybe my words got twisted! i do wear some of this trends and i love them, i just recently thrifted some bootcut jeans that i plan to wear a lot during the fall! usually during the summer months i live in slip on dresses and skirts because it gets too hot to even think about wearing a pair of jeans! I think it all comes down to having different climates! I would love to live somewhere colder because I think fashion is more fun when it’s not hot! This video is just pointing out the difference between what i see people wearing in real life in México, and online fashion! I would agree everything is more basic irl as well!
I know most people hate on skinny jeans but I don't think they'll ever go out of style, they're something that can be worn as Formal or casual in the fashion industry. I can't imagine baggy pants being worn in a formal setting just personally.
bimba y lola is super popular in portugal too! But generally i would agree, yes. I live in lisbon and while i do see alot of trendy people every day, it's rather rare to spot someone wearing one of the pieces you mentioned!
I personally love the trend of transparent clothing and wear out in the real world and have seen many other people wearing it as well in every day circumstances (I don’t live in or near a big city) I just think it’s really fun and allows for a lot of layering opportunities. It’s also handy in the summer when it’s scorching hot out.
As a teen from Portugal that is currently studying arts I actually see a lot of these trends at my school but outside my school I don't see them as much so maybe everyone there is chronically online😭
i think most young people in the UK wear molly mae sort of clothes; neutrals & athleisurewear. though in uni cities it’s different and jorts are EVERYWHERE
Great video! I live in a city that has quite a few universities in the area & have seen quite a bit of online trends appearing in real life. I’m not in college anymore but when I was, I also think esp b/c I was in an art program that I saw a wider range of different trends in outfits. & a significant portion of my particular university were students from wealthier families so they had the means to participate more in staying on-trend. So I think the age (& finances) of a demographic contributes a lot to whether or not you’ll see ppl wearing these things in real life.
oh this is so interesting!! finances do play a great role in how people dress, now that I think about it, it makes sense that countries like mine are not at the top of the trends! of course we can thrift but it’s harder to access things
It’s strange to me I have such a heavy emphasis on long flowy skirts in my style but they’re so hard to find! Like in shops. I’ve made three of mine now and thrifted the rest but they are very far and few in between at the thrift. So strange would’ve never thought
i LOOOVE my pair of mary janes and actually had to get a new pair because they were literally ripping 😅 i also wear skirts like 24/7, as often as possible, but then again i already have an alt style.
I go to middle school near Washington DC and I do see some people wearing jorts or following the blowkette aesthetic. I’m guessing since teens have more time than adults most our time is on social media. So I guess that makes it for a lot of people to follow quicker trends.
I live in the US in a big southern city and most people dress “normal” in my area, but there’s a range based on age, location, and ESPECIALLY wealth. I see 2020-22 online trends that finally made it to real life, but mostly casual practical clothes like athleisure, think the 2019 vsco girl look. When someone “dresses up” or has a more costumey aesthetic in the suburbs it stands out. But if you go downtown or to a rich area you see more of the online trends and old money ppl decked out in brand names. It was kinda funny to me when the NY fashion girlies started wearing cowboy boots (I, in Texas, always avoided them bc I thought they were too goofy and country lol)
So interesting! So cowboy boots are mostly worn in Texas by people who actually need them right? Not so much as a fashion accessory? I used to go all the time when I was younger and I remember seeing them mostly in the countryside
I live in a big city that is often referred to as the New York of Europe. I've seen jorts and the football shirts but other than that nothing else seems to appear in real life
I'm a skinny jean girl too. I'm doin capris this season. I'm high waist. i do sheer tops under dresses & vests. i will be stacking it. I wear skirts & dresses to church. i love moto boots. I'm in Australia but will be passing on the rest of the trends,
I've used mesh shirts and also have seen other people use them, but I'm in college and that's where I've seen/used them. Buuut to be fair, I've never seen mesh or like transparent skirts, so yeah.
Hey! I live in France and what you said is so true: no-one wears those trends. Sometimes I do and I feel like an alien as no-one does ever wear any of these 😭😭 Even worse, I was looking to get new trousers and everyone wears either (super)skinny, straight here. it is such a struggle to find wide leg ou flare bottoms from some brands here!! Anyway, love your video 🥰😊
I used to live in Dallas, Texas area in the US but my family and I moved to the Midwest a couple of years ago. I would have never said that what we wore in Texas was the most trendy because I lived in the suburbs, rather than the more wealthy inner city part but I never realized how trendy and chronicly online everyone I knew dressed. Clothes weren't really for functionality as they are in the Midwest, and it was normal to have larger wardrobe sizes for not only styling but also for the hot/humid days where you change multiple times a day. Women would wear skirts and dresses, unlike in the Midwest everyone wears athleisure or denim 2010's shorts. The only people in the Midwest who wear anything you see with online trends are usually teenagers and college kids, and typically when they're going out with friends or to an event. I just tell myself that I have investment pieces for the next ten years until the trends catch up 😂 I do miss getting dressed up though, if you wear anything other than the standard jeans and a t-shirt in dark neutral colors or athleisure then people will STARE at you. They'll be nice but you'll definitely notice and feel out of place.
The hot and humid weather part is so real! I have to change multiple times a day as well 😩 it’s awful, and just use athleisure for the gym and take it off right by after bcs it’s too hot, so similar to Texas! If you’re super into fashion it might be depressing to live somewhere where people are not really into it! It happens to me too, I feel like I can’t dress up like I want to because it’s too hot and no one else does it, i live my fashion dreams vicariously through making this videos
I'm from Mexico too, but in Tijuana I notice two types of trendy people, those who buy at malls, known boutiques and Inditex type stores so ive seen some trends but also people that thrift and mix and match with store bought clothing, that's when I see most of these trends worn, here I haven't seen bimbo y Lola that much, but yes a lot of coach, Kate spade, prada, pandora bracelets ñ And if people don't try to follow trends it looks more casual: jeans, Nikes, a jacket...
yess!! inditex is such a big thing in México, we literally have no easy access to other stores it’s crazy! I do that for sure! I thrift and match with what I have bought before, thought I’ve been thrifting more. Interesting on no bimba y lola! Tijuana might have more of an american influence given it’s so close to the US
I think these trends are for places with low temperature. Weather effects a lot of these trends. Where I live is so humid and hot so we don't have any options but to wear only clothes made of cotton. I really want to follow some of these trends sometimes but when I look at the weather I change my mind. 😅
I live in Southern California and go to uni and EVERYONEEE is on all the online trends u brought up and way moreeeeee so i think culture has a lot to do with it
Here in Italy I've seen people wearing online trands, but mostly we got like local trends that are inspired by Pinterest or what we see online. For example you can see a lot of girls wearing cowboy boots for disco, that is probably bc it was seen on the internet first. Generally tho where I'm from at least they all dress similar to the other or with their own specific style. 😊
I was born in 97, ive been alive when low waist was trending in the 2000 and it was horrible, high wait is much flattering and depending on your body type skinny or wide jeans may look better. I look awful in wide jeans
if you go to london you find that a lot of people actually do wear these social media trends irl but when i go to a smaller city in italy for example the trends are very much what people were wearing on social media in 2018
yess! it does take a while for trends to catch up in smaller cities. I’ve noticed london is superrr trendy, never been there but for what i’ve heard/seen
Skirts over pants do exist outside of the typical fashion industry! Some women from the Peruvian Andes wear skirts over some kind of legging, like pants; that has been the traditional outfit for years. Whether they are in fashion or not a lot would wear it. It is because it is very cold. I’ve seen them wearing it with boots and layered cardigans.
I still don't know how do girls/young women in my country (ages 14-32) keep up with all these trends considering we have low salaries and that most people are one paycheck away from being almost destitute (keyword: almost, because even when someone has no job and no money, there is always an aunt that takes you in her home in exchange for some company and cleaning haha). I haven't asked them, but I was almost always six months-one year behind them.
ohh this comment is so personal to me, because i literally live with my grandma and I know my aunts would take me in as well if needed lmao 😩 i totally agree!! it’s crazy to keep up with trends on a normal salary
In the town I live in I do see a lot of long knee-length skirts or short floral skirts, and the tote bag tøte never really the bag brands you mentioned, but that's probably because I live in the Netherlands
Hi Raleigh, NC here. I see some online trends here designer bags, designer summer wear, but jorts are not for here. Girls still 2010’s shorts. Most places seem to use trends that work for the area and ditch the rest to watch online. If it is ridiculous hot outside then you will be wearing stuff to survive the heat. I really enjoyed how you did this.
man i hate the blokette aesthetic so much, noone wears it, noone wants it, everyone is frustrated that you cant get a normal t shirt litteraly anywhere because shops are selling only those ugly cropped shirt with a random print shitted on it and the companies dont care because they think thats what people are wearing. ITS SO FRUSTRATING
At my school all anyone wears is sweatpants and if you where anything different then you get called emo I wear mini skirts and bell bottoms and knee high boots I have lots of vintage clothing and I'm big on layering but this has always been my style people know me as the "weird girl" or the "fashion girl" people either love or HATE the way I dress it has led to lots of Stereo types and Bullying
Your observations were so good! I am from Germany and it’s pretty much the same here. Except for bags, I have never heard of the brand you showed thats popular in Latin America and Spain :‘D Younger people here wear a lot of small shoulder bags.
I live near a university and see versions of these trends but they're always much more toned down. This week I've seen a few girls wearing blokette core, but it's more like they have paired the sports jersey with jeans or jean shorts rather than a skirt and bows. Over summer boxer shorts were definitely trending though! I will say, the small bun and aggressively slick hair is EVERYWHERE and I can't wait for it to be over. I think it's quite unflattering and harsh on a lot of people.
I live in a little city in italy, near Milan, and I barely see these trends here and if I do its only the baggy jeans and sometimes jorts, its mostly bcs I live in an area where its full of maranza who wear the same clothes. (maranza are pratically the roadman of italy)
I will admit I wear jorts and I love them and I think they just generally go with my usual style of already basketball or generally long shorts and a shirt. I’ve noticed people around me quite literally wear them for a photo and then go out wearing other shorts and I think that’s what bothers me. Especially because they will buy expensive jorts just to not wear them. I’ve thrifted like three pairs and that’s all I own, but when I see people wearing them for a picture I just want to take them for myself. Clothes are meant to be used and worn and if your buying expensive clothes just for the picture, maybe you should give them to someone who will use it and wear it for the rest of their life instead of for a month. I guess I had to vent about jorts.
I actually just wear what I find cute. I've worn a short dress over jorts for my friend's bday and that was cute! Some of these trends are totally unpractical tho, I'd never wear something see-through unless I had something fun for underneath.
I love low rise jeans and they're sooo big online but I feel like I really can never find any jeans In store that are low rise, its always mid-rise, high-rise or ultra-high rise. its soooo upsetting
i have an insane amount of the 2010 shorts LMAO. when i saw that i mean almost ALL my shorts are that style.i only discover that there were other types of shorts that than when i was like 13😂. But even now i only have like 5 shorts that aren’t in that style. i mean i also have like undershorts and sleeping ones but yeah haha.
where i'm from (colombia), mesh tops are definitely worn regularly... and have been worn regularly for DECADES lol. but only mesh tops, never bottom anything. the bloke aesthetic is just game day in my country, so it's limited to just that type of event. i have seen a lot of wider legged pants, but not a lot of low rise. it's always regular rise (to the navel) or high, never low rise. Oh, we also have a lot of bimba y lola, but also a lot of parchita (similar to bimba y lola, i like parchita better i guess). And here, the popular shoe is the white nike air tennis shoe, not the sambas
will definitely be looking them up! I’ll make a video about real life things that are trending in different countries based on this comment section and Colombia will be included for sure!
@@alisonodette i have a bunch of colombian brands recommendations, like sixxta, eloisa studio, true, bionico, jorge duque (and the heart bag that’s trending but really expensive), and pretty much every girly in colombia uses earcuffs. They’re usually big and we stack them
7:03 we have a bag trend too! It's either a tote from marimekko or a similar looking bag (the one you showed) which is called marimekko gartha if I remember correctly. Literally a small black shoulder bag with that wide black/white strap which has the word "marimekko" all over. Literally almost the same bag as you showed lol. That one is REALLY popular (& its not cheap), especially with middle aged moms, millenials or older women in general. Heck, even my mom has that bag & I see it everywhere here in Finland but probably no one outside of liking marimekko knows it :"))
@@alisonodette yeah, pretty much identical but because it's from a Finnish fashion brand, it's a wanted bag lol. :"D Marimekko is really huge, I too would love to have something from them but dang its so expensive so rip wallet.
I live in quite a small town in finland and honestly everyone wears hoodies here, even when it’s warm, well except some girls in my grade but most people just wear a lot of basics, which I do love, but I do feel like I dress quite a bit out of the norm here, but yeah
Here in New York City jorts are totally a thing! But I barely see any blokette a lot of young girls my age either are very minimalist (brandy Melville) or kind of y2k
Something like skinny jeans have never left. You still see them being worn in work spaces and offices. Fashion trends also depend on where you live, most times weather is a big factor :)
BIMBA Y LOLA OMG ITS A THING IN PORTUGAL TOO I HATE IT SM only betas wear it tho 😭 (hard to explain what a beto is but think abt the complete opposite of an alternative person). Big Calvin Klein bags r also v popular (Disclaimer: i live in a rural area) ive seen jorts, i see lots of baggy everything for everyone or baggy bottom+tight top for girls, sportswear n sport merch (esp football tshirts n american football jerseys), mini cotton skirts (unless theyre alt, alt ppl wear maxi skirts), party dresses (those tight ones that youre like girl r we in a disco or in a school??? Tho i cant talk much since im pretty extravagant 💀), graphic tees of stuff theyre into/random designs, tops with different n fun cuts, gold jewelry, sadly beige jeans (baggy jeans r more popular tho, beige n polos r more for betos) n polo shirts from sacoor brothers, springfield or quebramar, converse shoes, nike everything, tommy hilfinger or gucci for those who can afford it, bershka, lefties (bsk n lefties rlly r the most popular places to shop Ive been a mesh/transparent clothing fan for a long time btw....
I didn’t know Portugal has bershka and lefties too! I have that her as well. And I didn’t know Bimba and Lola was popular there too. I guess it makes sense since Spain is super close. So interesting tho, i think it’s the first Portugal comment, thank you! 💗
I love it when I get the reminder that social media isn’t a real place
Most people just don't have the money to buy a totally different wardrobe every year, so yeah, many still wear the same things that were "popular" or "common" maybe 5-10 years ago. Trends are made so that people follow them and buy more and more things they might not necessarily need in the first place.
Yes, such an important comment! most people don’t cycle through clothes that fast
I still have my worn-out black T-shirt that I bought more than 6 years ago.
i will forever be wearing my straight-leg mom jeans !!
Same😄
one bag i am seeing EVERYWHERE across a range of age groups as well is the uniqlo shoulder bag. it appeals to a range of ppl because of its style and functionality, being able to hold quite a lot and also its about £15 so quite cheap
oh i haven’t seen them yet but i’ll keep an eye out for them!! maybe few people are starting to wear them here too!
I have. It hit all of the marks with people.
As someone who owns one, yes I agree
I love my uniqlo bag!! The only issue is that it falls off my shoulder easily when i dont wear it as a cross body but im okay with that
Yes and crescent bags in general, I even see them in the big department stores like Target. Easy and practical!
Capris and see through (on the bottom half) is something I have not seen that much of yet, but all the others 100%, and not even just by the die hard fashion people, but pretty normal people, too.
loved to hear about The Netherlands! So interesting!
I agree. In Amsterdam jorts, samba’s and wide leg jeans and trousers are everywhere. Skinny’s not so much. Also those suede Birkenstocks are a thing.
i think what you where depends on your age, culture, location, occasion and weather you care about fashion/the way you look!
totally!!
Love the video! As a teen from a medium sized city in england, i do see most of these in real life, i definitely also see people wearing more 'normal' clothes but the more 'chronically online' type of fashion i do see often (mostly on young people as my city is a big univercity city, which may play a part) but i definitely think it depends on location as i dont think id see the same in englands small towns or villages!
thank you!! 💗 And yes! I think england and the bigger cities in the US are where these trends can be seen the most
I live in Saint-Petersburg (Russia) and people here are actually wearing most of online trends in real life. But mostly you can see this at nightclubs, restaurants and other fancy places in the centre of the city. You immidiately can tell who has the pinterest board 😉But this never been the majority of people of course.
Oh I love that!! Russians seem to have such good fashion sense, you all know how to make the most out of the cold weather and I love it! 💗
@@alisonodette aww thank you!
@@alisonodette Why are you supporting a ruzzian? Especially one that lives in ruzzia and pays taxes that are used to bomb Ukraine. Hypocritical.
Same in Bulgaria. In all big cities there are people who are following those trends and wear all kind of unique outfits
I live in Poland in in of the largest cities and i bearly see any of the online trends on the streat but there are some "uniforms" for people in different age - most of the teenagers are wearing jords or other baggy jeans, very baggy tshirts or crop tops, most of girls my age (24-30) are dressing in clean girl aesthetic, women over 30 are wearing skinny jeans or straight jeans, blazers, tshirts.
wait i love the difference depending on the age groups! that’s so interesting
I'm am a cronically online Turkish girl living in Germany. whenever I wear something trending online in real life, everyone stares at me. like, they STAAAAREEE at me. not a very nice feeling I must admit :)
Oh same here!! I feel super out of place but I also love it haha
we, slavic girlies, like to dress up on every given occasion! even if we go to the nearest grocery store, we keep in mind we have to be neat, clean and look nice (not overdressed though).
as for online trends - our teens, especially in big cities, wear them all the time! hard to go in any mall or central street without seeing at least some pieces that is on trend in tiktok rn. girls in their twenties and older prefer timeless basics
i love that!! i wish it wasn’t so hot in here so i could dress cute all the time😩
yeah! specially in big cities like monterrey you can see a lot of variation between what’s trendy and what’s used in the “real life”, going outside of san pedro, you can see a multitude of alternative styles that follow certain online trends. loved ur take on the topic!
this is so true!! it really does depend on where you are, or the places you usually go to
I have to say in big cities all those trends are worn. Especially here in Berlin. But I agree, the majority will probably not be participating.
I love this, i used to work in a small city just last year and i saw those tiktok trends everyday , nearly all young adults were wearing the clothes , makeup , hairstyle , now that i am in a big city , i honestly never see anybody dressing like this , they probably are some but i dont cross paths with them
ohh! this totally contradicts the big city argument, so interesting!
Bootcut jeans will definitely be back in fall. In Amsterdam a few people already wear them.
this reminds me of a video i saw of someone talking abt brands like hermes or cartier that gave ppl the "ick" bcs of the oversaturation online but that actually, irl, not everyone is all dressed with hermes bags and love bangles
so true!! only a few people can actually afford a hermès bag, but there’s a lot of oversaturation online for sure, i guess the internet might be the reason why we get tired of trends faster than ever before
@alisonodette exactly, being able to convey things so fast now makes ppl tired and sick of things way faster than usually. but when we go out and see irl ppl, we realise that not everyone is able to afford those luxury things that we also do not need as much as they can suggest
exactly!! it’s a chronically online thing, kind of unavoidable at this point in time because we need the internet for everything, but it’s good to be aware of it!
@alisonodette yes definitely! it can be hard but now that we are able to be more and more informed abt all of this (the differences between online and irl, fast fashion consequences), it makes it easier to keep this mindset in mind
NOO i am a skirt lover , a skirt enthusiast 😭😭
Same!!! I love them so much, i wish i saw them more often irl
So true!! People only wear football shirts when there’s actually a game on that day lol
Oh, as a teen I actually used to wear a mesh shirt pretty much everywhere, and I even had a mesh sweater that same year. My classmate also used to wear something like that...
I was looking to get something like this again, they are actually very comfortable for summer, at least to my sensory stuff.
It's pretty funny for something so niche to become a trend though, I have never seen those outside of me and my classmate wearing that 😅
you were ahead of the trend!!
I guess my city is trendy lol cuz I just saw a woman in a sheer top yesterday. She paired it with stiletto lace up boots. Her friends were with her and were dressed more “normal” 😂
And I’ve seen women in Jorts and Capris. It’s not everywhere but I see it
could be!! which city?
loved the video! i'm brazilian and agree with all you said. fun fact: i don't think i've ever seen a bag by Binby Lola here, but i do see a lot of bags really similar to the one you showed! i actually have one exactly like that, black with the black and white handle
thank you!! 💗
I love this idea! I live just north of toronto 🍁 we have some fashion people in my city, but it’s mostly leggings and 2010s shorts. I usually stand out for being in styles mostly found online
so interesting!! 💗 very similar to where I live
omg i live in toronto too and i see so many trends but its usually leggings and shorts too
Owning 5 different style black skirts has given me a plethora of outfits. You can go from soft and chic to grunge and rocker in seconds switching the tops
:)
tbh my trend cycle has become whatever the 90s sitcom characters I watch wear
Ohhh i love 90s tv showss!! Obsessed with everything sex & the city, buffy summers, cordelia chase, the nanny, rachel & monica, 90’s style was unmatched
Bimba Y Lola is also big in southeast asia, at least in Indonesia and Singapore
someone also told me it’s a thing in Korea as well! I had no idea
When I’m home from university, I live in a mid-size city in California known for being low-income and older. I get a lot of stares because I tend to dress well even if I go out briefly, many people go out in leggings and pajamas, and friends here ask me why I don’t 😂
But at my university town, people are much more trendy and I feel more at home or even underdressed.
Oh hey! number 9 I actually do haha.
I’m obsessed with skirts too! I feel like once you start wearing skirts it’s so hard to go back to denim because it’s just so uncomfortable
honestly all that matters is that you’re confident and happy in your clothes
so true! 💗
In Yucatán we have coconut girl and those linen shorts being all the rage and I’m so here for it, wearing actual jeans here is ridiculous
I totally get you I can’t wear jeans from April - September or I would literally melt
most people in the uk in their 20s and teens wear baggy jeans with everything like, baggy jumpers, tank tops, oversized cardigans, north face puffer coats
So interesting! I def remember seeing them a lot when I went there 2 years ago but I wanted to know if it was still going strong
Even when I go to sort of big city I don't see a lot of people wearing trends, but when they do than they are wearing it in their own way and also what I see is that each of em have their style and I think it's cool
btw nice video ^^
thank you! 💗 yes it totally varies depending on where we are. I guess some cities are more prone to trends than others, and I also think there might be some things that are just trending online, and are harder to spot irl for sure!
The jorts and max jewelry is definitely popular with younger girls (teenage middle and high school). But also they have more time for trends and of course youth!
of course! you’re so right, youth plays a huge part on it
I live in Spain actually these trends are popular, the jords are everywhere + samba, you can see as well a lot of long skirts in south of Spain when girls go out
I'm in early 40's and live in a small UK coastal town.
Oh that’s so true! I mostly go for trousers in formal settings and would probably never use baggy jeans
bimba y lola is super popular in portugal too!
I could see how it could work well with layering, specially during the winter!
As a teen from Portugal that is currently studying arts I actually see a lot of these trends at my school but outside my school I don't see them as much so maybe everyone there is chronically online😭
oh wow! i would have thought portugal to be more trend-oriented rather than not! I follow some portuguese influencers and i love their style so much!!
i think most young people in the UK wear molly mae sort of clothes; neutrals & athleisurewear. though in uni cities it’s different and jorts are EVERYWHERE
Same!! I never find any long skirts or midi skirts on stores, I thrift most of them
i LOOOVE my pair of mary janes and actually had to get a new pair because they were literally ripping 😅
i also wear skirts like 24/7, as often as possible, but then again i already have an alt style.
Love this! 💗
I go to middle school near Washington DC and I do see some people wearing jorts or following the blowkette aesthetic. I’m guessing since teens have more time than adults most our time is on social media. So I guess that makes it for a lot of people to follow quicker trends.
oh that’s such a good thing to point out! time could be one of the reasons why as we get older we tend to not follow many trends anymore
I've seen jorts and the football shirts but other than that nothing else seems to appear in real life
Spaniard here! Bimba y Lola is kinda like Coach in the US and it actually is a Spanish brand!
I'm a skinny jean girl too. I'm doin capris this season. I'm high waist. i do sheer tops under dresses & vests. i will be stacking it. I wear skirts & dresses to church. i love moto boots. I'm in Australia but will be passing on the rest of the trends,
Oh I love that you’re sticking to your style, I’ve heard Australia is super up to date with trends, right?
I live in northern england and its all about either fconverse or nike shoes, nike socks over leggings and whitefox hoodies
3:49 in my humble opinion Brazil and Venezuelan version of this t-shirt are superior.
Anyway, love your video 🥰😊
i feel like that too!! and it’s hard to find exactly what i’m looking for as well! ohh the strugglee 😩 thank youu btw! 💗💗
❤❤❤Great video!Refreshing!
thank you! 💗
I live in spain and the brand bimba y lola is super common there, I see it all the time
I'm from Mexico too, but in Tijuana I notice two types of trendy people, those who buy at malls, known boutiques and Inditex type stores so ive seen some trends but also people that thrift and mix and match with store bought clothing, that's when I see most of these trends worn, here I haven't seen bimbo y Lola that much, but yes a lot of coach, Kate spade, prada, pandora bracelets ñ
And if people don't try to follow trends it looks more casual: jeans, Nikes, a jacket...
yess!! inditex is such a big thing in México, we literally have no easy access to other stores it’s crazy! I do that for sure! I thrift and match with what I have bought before, thought I’ve been thrifting more. Interesting on no bimba y lola! Tijuana might have more of an american influence given it’s so close to the US
I still wear my flares from the 2000s, and recently adopted skinny jeans. They’re both timeless classics. ❤
love this! 💗
As you said, I think it really depends where you live. I live in London and have seen most of these trends in real life
Everyone who’s from London has told me the same thing! I guess London is super trendy
Bimba y Lola is very popular in Spain , it’s is consider pretty basic to wear one of those here
I think these trends are for places with low temperature. Weather effects a lot of these trends. Where I live is so humid and hot so we don't have any options but to wear only clothes made of cotton. I really want to follow some of these trends sometimes but when I look at the weather I change my mind. 😅
Same!! I think that’s why I barely see them irl
In nyc I see all of these trends everywhere and they all dress differently but it just depends where you are !
yes! nyc seems to be a very trendy city, i think a lot of trends start there too
Great video...much needed
thank you! 💗
not a maximalist bohemian jewlery wearer but i do have 2 mixed metal bracelets and they're so pretty :)
love this!
I live in Southern California and go to uni and EVERYONEEE is on all the online trends u brought up and way moreeeeee so i think culture has a lot to do with it
yes for sure! I do think California is for sure one of the trendier states in the US
Here in Italy I've seen people wearing online trands, but mostly we got like local trends that are inspired by Pinterest or what we see online. For example you can see a lot of girls wearing cowboy boots for disco, that is probably bc it was seen on the internet first.
Generally tho where I'm from at least they all dress similar to the other or with their own specific style. 😊
Sorry my English is not that good 😅
Don’t be sorry!! Your english is so good. So interesting how people wear cowboy boots to clubs!
@@alisonodette same, I live in my grandparents' home (they are no longer here) but I am grateful they let me stay.
In the town I live in I do see a lot of long knee-length skirts or short floral skirts, and the tote bag tøte never really the bag brands you mentioned, but that's probably because I live in the Netherlands
so interesting!! 💗 thank you for sharing
Most of these are totally true in my experience, but I don't know, I've for sureee seen jorts and and skirts over pants EVERYWHERE in my city
I see people wearing capris all the time -- but I did before it was a 'trend' and will after.
Hii!! thank you 💗💗 so interesting, weather plays a huge factor
man i hate the blokette aesthetic so much, noone wears it, noone wants it,
everyone is frustrated that you cant get a normal t shirt litteraly anywhere
because shops are selling only those ugly cropped shirt with a random
print shitted on it and the companies dont care because they think thats
what people are wearing. ITS SO FRUSTRATING
I think to each their own but brands do act like trends are everything people are looking for! Sometimes you just want a nice baaasic u know
I see most trends irl but i work in new jersey so nyc fashion influences a wide range around here
for sure!! nyc seems to be where a lot of trends start
I’m in LA and I agree, I don’t actually see most of these in real life. Except skirts, those are everywhere 😂
Oh that’s crazy!! I would think of LA as a super trendy city
At my school all anyone wears is sweatpants and if you where anything different then you get called emo I wear mini skirts and bell bottoms and knee high boots I have lots of vintage clothing and I'm big on layering but this has always been my style people know me as the "weird girl" or the "fashion girl" people either love or HATE the way I dress it has led to lots of Stereo types and Bullying
keep being you!! school will end and your fashion sense will prevail 💗 it seems eternal but i promise it’s not
Your observations were so good! I am from Germany and it’s pretty much the same here. Except for bags, I have never heard of the brand you showed thats popular in Latin America and Spain :‘D Younger people here wear a lot of small shoulder bags.
thank you!! 💗
Oh yeah the clean girl aesthetic! i like it but it’s def going to die down as we approach the middle/end of the decade
I live in a little city in italy, near Milan, and I barely see these trends here and if I do its only the baggy jeans and sometimes jorts, its mostly bcs I live in an area where its full of maranza who wear the same clothes. (maranza are pratically the roadman of italy)
so interesting! I would have thought Milan to be a trendier city
The designer bag models you are seeing are the most popular (counterfeit) bags of hacoo ❤
Oh that’s messed up! we’re really living in a digital world, it’s so dystopian lowkey 🥴
this is really interesting because bimba y lola is quite popular in south korea!!
so interesting!!
I actually just wear what I find cute. I've worn a short dress over jorts for my friend's bday and that was cute! Some of these trends are totally unpractical tho, I'd never wear something see-through unless I had something fun for underneath.
oh that’s so cute!! 💗
I love low rise jeans and they're sooo big online but I feel like I really can never find any jeans In store that are low rise, its always mid-rise, high-rise or ultra-high rise. its soooo upsetting
same!! i just mentioned that in a recent video, could it be because stores haven’t caught up to the low rise trend yet?
my spanish exchange partner has that binbay lola bag
i have an insane amount of the 2010 shorts LMAO. when i saw that i mean almost ALL my shorts are that style.i only discover that there were other types of shorts that than when i was like 13😂. But even now i only have like 5 shorts that aren’t in that style. i mean i also have like undershorts and sleeping ones but yeah haha.
they’re so comfy tho! specially in super hot weather, I can’t even phantom wearing something longer than that hahaha
@@alisonodette true true!
where i'm from (colombia), mesh tops are definitely worn regularly... and have been worn regularly for DECADES lol. but only mesh tops, never bottom anything. the bloke aesthetic is just game day in my country, so it's limited to just that type of event. i have seen a lot of wider legged pants, but not a lot of low rise. it's always regular rise (to the navel) or high, never low rise.
Oh, we also have a lot of bimba y lola, but also a lot of parchita (similar to bimba y lola, i like parchita better i guess). And here, the popular shoe is the white nike air tennis shoe, not the sambas
so interesting! i’d never heard of parchita, i’ll definitely be looking it up
@@alisonodette "Divina castidad" is also really good!
will definitely be looking them up!
They’re usually big and we stack them
@@saraangel6696 thank you so much for this! i’ll write it down for research
Omg I had never heard of them but I just looked them up, crazy how similar they look! So interesting
@@alisonodette yeah, pretty much identical but because it's from a Finnish fashion brand, it's a wanted bag lol. :"D Marimekko is really huge, I too would love to have something from them but dang its so expensive so rip wallet.
@@a.c.eshacchi3069 hahaha i totally get you, me & my never ending wishlist of things i can't afford omg
I live in quite a small town in finland and honestly everyone wears hoodies here, even when it’s warm, well except some girls in my grade but most people just wear a lot of basics, which I do love, but I do feel like I dress quite a bit out of the norm here, but yeah
so interesting!!
Here in New York City jorts are totally a thing! But I barely see any blokette a lot of young girls my age either are very minimalist (brandy Melville) or kind of y2k
oh! I would’ve thought new york was big on blockette but by what I’ve read in the comments it seems like it’s more of a London thing
I think that veja shoes were very popular in 2021/22... I saw them everywhere on pinterest in the past.
Something like skinny jeans have never left. You still see them being worn in work spaces and offices. Fashion trends also depend on where you live, most times weather is a big factor :)
so true!!
BIMBA Y LOLA OMG ITS A THING IN PORTUGAL TOO I HATE IT SM only betas wear it tho 😭 (hard to explain what a beto is but think abt the complete opposite of an alternative person). Big Calvin Klein bags r also v popular
(Disclaimer: i live in a rural area)
ive seen jorts, i see lots of baggy everything for everyone or baggy bottom+tight top for girls, sportswear n sport merch (esp football tshirts n american football jerseys), mini cotton skirts (unless theyre alt, alt ppl wear maxi skirts), party dresses (those tight ones that youre like girl r we in a disco or in a school??? Tho i cant talk much since im pretty extravagant 💀), graphic tees of stuff theyre into/random designs, tops with different n fun cuts, gold jewelry, sadly beige jeans (baggy jeans r more popular tho, beige n polos r more for betos) n polo shirts from sacoor brothers, springfield or quebramar, converse shoes, nike everything, tommy hilfinger or gucci for those who can afford it, bershka, lefties (bsk n lefties rlly r the most popular places to shop
Ive been a mesh/transparent clothing fan for a long time btw....
I didn’t know Portugal has bershka and lefties too! I have that her as well. And I didn’t know Bimba and Lola was popular there too. I guess it makes sense since Spain is super close. So interesting tho, i think it’s the first Portugal comment, thank you! 💗
Where I live in a rich American suburb a lot of people have the Louis Vuitton Neverfull bag
everyone wears the onljne trends in london. guess depends where you live❤
totally!!
