Got this watch to celebrate a personal milestone and it hasn't left my wrist in months for all the reasons you mentioned. Spring Drive, beautifully textured dial, lightweight titanium. It's low key, functional and a perfect GADA. I've been choosing this over my shunbun and my gmt master 2 for a daily driver and still haven't gotten over how stunning it is! Great video!
I was so close to buying one of these. The bracelet width of 22mm with small taper and poor clasp held me back. Also the power reserve is at odds with the dial and feels out of place. It’s a wonderful watch head and dial. Perfect blend of sports and dress.
Yes, unfortunately all the things you listed are points that deter someone from buying a Grand Seiko. 😞 if they could just improve on these, sales would increase significantly I think.
@@BrokeWatchFanatic The problem is the word "improve". I don't think Grand Seiko has the wisdom to see it that way. They put 20mm lugs on the dress watch version of the Evo 9, which means they did this on purpose.
The finishing on the case is similar to each other. The oyster bracelet is miles better than the GS bracelet. The mist flake wears quite smaller than the explorer II but it is thicker. The Explorer II wears thin but large. The GS is the more elegant watch while the Rolex is very sporty. Hope that helps!
Been doing some research on getting a GS spring drive GMT with open case back. Seems this model, and SBGE283(black) are the only ones with under 14 mm thickness. Can the bracelet/clasp be switched out for one with micro adjustments?
my GADA! had it for 3 months now, and can't stop admiring it!
Nice! Same here!
I've had my SBGE285 for over a year now. It is my favourite out of my collection of watches.
It still surprises me when the sun hits it just right. 👍👍
That dial is just stunning 🤩
It really is. Thanks for watching!

Thank you and congrats on your milestone!
I have the black dial version. These are even better in person. Great review!
The black dial is also a beauty!

@@BrokeWatchFanatic similar issues with the evo9 dive watches. Look incredible but far too large and the clasp is appalling.
Don’t get me started on that clasp!! I love the SLGA023 but there are some hard deal breakers for me…

Great release from GS. I own it and the versatility is amazing.
Great release indeed!
An excellent commentary! I have had mine since early 2023.
Thank you! 🙏
Well said bro. Same here. Love my snowflake, want that shunbun, and this one would be my next for sure. Excellent vid!
Thanks for watching and I hope it makes its way to your collection soon!
Imagine a Swiss watchmaker invented the spring drive, probably would cost about 5x than a GS 😅
Great video brother! sbge285 is on my wish list now 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks! Hope it arrives sooner than later!
More brands coming out with textured dials now.
How does the wearability and finishing compare to your Explorer II?

@@BrokeWatchFanatic Thanks, that helps. Appreciated!
That's a very nice watch!

Not at the moment. One of the downfalls of GS.
So good!
This is my grail!
Add a micro adjustment clasp and i will get one.
I don’t blame you. Let’s hope Steel Reef makes one for the Evo9 titanium. 🤞
Call me narrow-minded but I feel like a 24h bezel doesn’t belong on a grand seiko:) just my stupid opinion:)
To each their own. 👍
wrist size? thx
6.75”
Odd you would say (in same sentence) that you will either love or hate the design then say you don't mind it at all?
I love it! There I said it. 😆
That’s what you took from all of that? lol
For that money give me a tfit
Yes, they should. Especially when they’re trying to go up market.
Clark Susan Lopez Edward Lopez Patricia
Looks like a San Martin
Great lume on my San Martin. Lol
I haven’t tried a San Martin yet, but I do hear their quality has improved dramatically.
I believe the San Martin came out right after this was released.
The San Martin looks like the GS. They ripped off this design.
i had this watch too, it looks very great. i don't like the beautiful polishsing which is easy to have scratch🥲
I know what you mean. Have you seen the 44GS case? Anxiety to the max lol
@@BrokeWatchFanatic i know😂.44GS is not suitable for wear, just for exhibit only. The scratch on 44GS case is crazy🙈🙈
