Wauw! Thank you so much for this video! I have an Yamaha Bolt but don't know anything about mechanics. You have given me the courage to change the air intake myself instead of going to an expensive mechanic. Thanks!
Hi Andrew, it's been a while since I shot this video but if I recall there were no o-rings, the stock throttle body has lip incorporated into it and new venturi has a machined groove on the backside that fits over the lip. Hope that clears things up. Thanks for watching and the kind words.
I installed this on my Bolt and found that 1 one bolt with the thread locker already on it would only tighten in so far. I assume this is what you mention in the video is that its left loose, correct?
Hi Donnie, thanks for watching my video. Yeah that bolt wont be totally tightened down because you need to be able to swing the bracket up and align it with the mount.
@@spencerwise7122 I have an 18 bolt R spec and in my opinion, I had the ECU re-flashed so I can have better feed back and performance since I installed this same exact air filter kit and I also put the Vance and Hines slip on exhaust, and I can say it does not disappoint
Good video. I installed this on my 2016 Bolt had a problem with it. I fallowed the instruction it said to install a washer and lock washer to the top bolt on the filter. I tightened all three bolts down, the top bolt with the extra washers made the filter too dimple causing the filter element to be crushed, called the manufacture they are sending me a new filter they said you do not have to add the two washers if it will damage the filter element.
Thank you for your feedback Marty Schmidt. Good to hear that you are getting taken care of. Care does need to be taken when installing air filters so they do not get crushed. The washers can be used... if you locktite the bolt and only tighten until secure... not super tight. Or... you can omit the washers. You just need to make sure that the bolt does not bottom out, leaving a gap between the air filter and the mounting base. If not sealed, you will get dirty air passing into your motor without having been filtered! No bueno. Thus the reason for the washers. Hope this helps clear things up! Oh, and filter gasket grease is a great thing to use too! - Kyle & the chap Moto Team
The back support bracket does not line up, I believe you need to snug down the bolts on the filter before you do your final tightening on the two bolts on support bracket, if you do not you can over tighten the filter bolts to get a good fit.
Hi Travis, I believe the Cobra setup would work. It has a three pot tuning system that you can adjust to suit your specific setup. However I am not sure for your pipe and air filter what each pot number on the Fi2000r should be adjusted to. I'd suggest contacting Cobra and they could probably give you some direction.
Hi Philippe, great question. Unfortunately I didn't measure the difference between the two, but the Vance and Hines Naked intake is a bit slimmer than the stock unit. The overall size is much smaller as well so it doesn't stick out as much and take up as much space as the stock unit leaving more room for your leg. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Yeah it should sit flush against the backing plate. Might want to revisit the mounting instructions, make sure there isn't a piece of hardware or something between the two, or give Vance and Hines a call and speak with them directly to see is there is an issue/solution.
I just installed Filter on my new 2018 Bolt, sounds great. Installation is really easy. But there is a gap between the back of the filter and the mounting Plate from 11 to 3 o'clock. Has anyone else had this issue? Do you have a solution?
Thanks for watching our video. Double check and make sure that the rubber trim around the base of the filter is fully seated. Also inspect your filter assembly to make sure everything is straight and nothing is bent.
Hi, i do not recommend you this product for the Yamaha since it doesn't have any sort of protection against water in case it rains, you would have to buy a cover for that
can this be made as a solo mod? i.e. I like the stock pipe. or does it have to be done in conjunction with other mods? sorry for the noob question. I'm mechanically illiterate. that air intake is the only thing I hate about my bolt.
Cool. Thank you for the response. I've only recently upgraded to the bolt from a 250. So right now while I'm still getting used to a bigger bike, I'm not necessarily looking for more performance in terms of power. I mostly just want to get that box off my knee. I've read in some places that if I don't add a fuel controller that it can make the engine run too lean and do potential long term damage. I definitely don't want to do any damage. But most of that has been on message boards and not from actual expert mechanics. So if I did the intake this summer and maybe waited until next summer to do the controller, am I risking damage to the engine?
Nice! The Bolt is a great bike. Vance & Hines has a really great customer service department, I would contact them to get a second opinion since they have done the research and development of this product.
+Frank Castle You can use a kit like the one provided in the link below from Maxima. www.chaparral-racing.com/product/maxima-air-filter-maintenance-care-kit-combo-2-pack/353-0988.aspx

No problem! Glad it was helpful, thanks for watching!
What appened to my message ?! ^^ I wanted to know if the new air intake is more thick or not than the originaL Thanck
No O rings between throttle body and new/old intake ? Good vid, thanks
Hey, awesome Vid! Does V&H have a waterproof cover for this air intake? Rains all the time in the UK! Cheers guys!
Hello, I do not recall seeing Vance and Hines offering one for this unit. Sorry.
Is it a MUST to use an FP3 if you are already using the VO2? The bike is a Harley Street 500

Do I need to tune my bike to the intake or can I just install and go?

3 years later. Does anyone have an answer for this? I'm looking to purchase this item.

Are the bolts supplied or do you reuse the stock mounting bolts?

What about the rain?
is it product rain proof?
+Joe Aparicio No it isn't rain proof, however you can get a cover for this intake.
@@chaparralmotorsports hi, do you have any suggestions for the sock (rain proof) for this v&h air intake?

Does this air intake helps with the heat coming from the side of the engine?
+Frank Castle no this will not have any affect on heat coming off of the engine.
Hello, what is the thickness compared to original air intake (who is realy to big !) Thanks

Mine on my 2015 Road king has a 1/8 gap between the filter and the back plate. I dont think that is good.

@@chaparralmotorsports Yes, I put the backing plate on backwards . dope
Will this fit the 2015 bolt r spec?
The yellow bolt I tried to apply was a %$&% to apply if you ask me... The rest was easy.
Good feedback.
Do we need to transfer the original o ring to the new kit?
Which of the O-rings are you referring to BatteryFlaccid ?

Can this one be installed on the Yamaha v star 950? It has the same engine
Hi Eric, not sure, Vance and Hines is not showing a fitment for the V-Star.
Hi, i do not recommend you this product for the Yamaha since it doesn't have any sort of protection against water in case it rains, you would have to buy a cover for that

You can purchase a rain cover to go over the filter

Yes you can do it as a solo mod. However, if you wanted to get a little more performance you'll want to do a fuel tuner as well.

This the best bolt 😎✌️🇨🇦
Thank you
while this is an old vid, but why would you use thread locker on the bolts that holds a remove and wash air filter?
That is what Vance & Hines recommends.
Chaparral Motorsports Do you guys also install a after market digital fuel gauge for the Bolt?
O cilindro traseiro aquece muito o saco como as HD?
Hello, no it does not.
Is it okay if my bike pops alot
It shouldn't be popping a lot, maybe take it in to a shop to have them take a look and tune it.
just went on your website and you do not carry this filter
Hello, sorry about the issue. Here is the product page on our website: www.chapmoto.com/vance-and-hines-vo2-naked-air-intake.html
thanks but i went to revzilla and ordered one and i have a delkevic slip on not really concerned with going faster just want to look kool
So easy, even a caveman can do it.
Looks a lot like the hard times air intake .

can i keep my stock muffler with this air filter ??
Hello, yes you can, however to get the full benefit an potential you should upgrade the mufflers to accommodate the air filter.
