My family own lands of olives, this time of the year we pick them and make olive oil and olives, For your question- no you can’t eat raw olive, I mean you can but it’s bitter and you’ll have stomach ace after. For olive oil you grained raw olives. For eating first you soak them in water for few days (replace water few Times) then Pickel them in a jar like you will Pickel cucumber (with spices/herbs of your choice), then wait minimum one month (up to a year). Xxx from Israel & Germany
We watched this in 2020 and dreamed about staying in one. My wife has a book and would take notes on places you went in Italy. After two years of planning-thanks Covid-we are staying there next month.
I could easily live in one of those tiny homes! The only thing I would add to it is a primitive outdoor summer kitchen with a brick oven and fire pit to cook tomatoes in a cauldron hanging over the open fire. I would cook indoors in the winter to help heat the place. Lovely! ❤😊
We are loving this Italian series! You are showing us some really unique places! As always we smile/ laugh along with you the whole way thru! YES I tried a Greek olive off the tree...bitter...😳 great video loved the drone shots!!!!!
I also tried oranges out of the trees in Greece and they were bitter as well. Btw, I also have a travel channel if you're interested. Feel free to check it out ❤️
I love the design...the walk-around wall lip and how the outside is open between spaces...not so tiny a feeling because of the spread-out footprint. Crazy cool. Live there I would!
I know this is one of your older uploads but I'm a recent subscriber & am working my way through your content. Absolutely f**king loving it & Italy looks amazing. Looking to get a van next year & its now firmly at the top of my list. Love the content!
I googled about the olives and this is what I found: While olives are edible straight from the tree, they are intensely bitter. Olives contain oleuropein and phenolic compounds, which must be removed or, at least, reduced to make the olive palatable.
This is such a cool tiny house. I would love to stay there for sure. The olives right off the tree won5 hurt you but they are very, very bitter. Great video.
So interesting, once I tried orange out of the tree and they were very bitter as well. Btw, I also have a travel channel if you're interested. Feel free to check it out ❤️
Thank you for posting! I stayed in a 3 bedroom trullo a couple of years ago. As excited as I was to stay in one for the week, after one day, I felt like I was living in a cave (which is the word you described also). I need light and windows. Just not for me. But I am very happy to say I experienced staying in one. Love your videos!
Very cool! It’s so beautiful there. So smart finding one outside of town and having the place to yourself to enjoy. Thank you both as always for the great content!!!
Finally . I got flight ticket next week fly to Italy .. I am excited 🥰 . Thank you guys for share all this stuff .I also start work on my traveling blog . 🥰🥰
I've been to Puglia and it's honestly my favorite region in Italy. Btw, I also have a travel channel if you're interested. Feel free to check it out ❤️
ahh, what a beautiful place! We drove all the way to Sicily in our car and I seriously can't believe we've missed these picturesque houses of Puglia! Beautifully made video, you've got our support guys!
A really unique and beautiful part of southern Italy. Loved the little stone houses and didn't know they existed until now . If I ever go there , I would want to stay in one of those.
I love you guys! It’s so lovely to giggle throughout the video. Your energy, banter and production quality is tv travel worthy. Hope you get back to Italy to continue the series. I’m there in September and this video has convinced me to spend at least one night in a truli…so I’m off to AirBnB now!
Wow you had me in stitches laughing when you had to intreat inside due to the bugs.My father was Italian and when I was little and complained of the flies in Australia ( where we lived) he would say there are no flies in Italy. Ha ha, when we lived there for a summer when I was 17 I found out that there were lots of flies!! and we too had to go inside to eat.
Of course you can eat olives from the tree , it wont harm you, but they will be harder and more bitter. The olives sold in shop have been in brime for a while to soften their texture and taste. However you can cook amazing dishes with fresh olives from a tree Also Emma, from the few cooking shots, you seem to have integrated Italian food making pretty well! the chopping of basil, of tomatoes, the drizzling of olive oil, the spreading of garlic on toasted bread... mamma mia !
As a Southern Italian I have to admit it's a very well done video. At the beginning I thought this was the usual patronizing, childish travel video, but watching it I appreciated the aesthetics and the explanations (also the historical part was accurate). But next time don't buy "vino sfuso" :) It might seem a local experience but they tend to sell you the worst stuff. Only in Florence this is a good experience. I loved the dinner spread tho :)
Can’t stop watching your Italian videos. It’s 4am so I gotta go to sleep , will be staying in one of these on my travels next year. Thanks for the tip you two ! :)
Yes, I have always wanted to stay and also live, if I could, in a tiny home. I say always, but here in the US they are just getting off the ground and our area does not permit them yet, so I will be dead by the time they do. I loved that little place and found it quite lovely and interesting as I do all tiny homes. I WANT ONE SO MUCH.
Thanks for making this series, my bf and I are planning a trip to Italy next year in September and Puglia is definitely on our list of spots to visit. Your videos are very helpful!
Fabulous video...loved the tiny home. We have always wanted to stay in a Trullo in Italy so definitely on our bucket list. You guys are so entertaining. Thanks for sharing. Cheers Kayleen and Mark
Love this. Wondering how you slept in all the sacred geometry? Reminds me of the fabulous, magical 'Chapter House' in Wells Cathedral which has the most amazing energy and accoustics in the world. Try singing/toning next time your there? It's amazing you sound like you'd imagine Angels do! Enjoy
I have just had my first stay in a shepherds hut in the U.K., loved it and have lots more tiny homes on my list to visit. That looks like a great place to stay.
That looks like an awesome place to stay, your spread at 09:45 looks fabulous Emma but when you said that the village got Alex seal of approval my first thought was it must have sausages.
Lockdown catch up and stumbled on this one bloody love you loons amazing cinematography as always Alex and a better presenter than Jill dando Judith charmers or even the legend that is Michael Palin does this now make Emma a legend I believe so keep up your amazing adventures coookkeee ouuuttt
You nailed it with the luxury mud hut! But they are unique and charming and the price? Brilliant! And I’m not from the U.K. But just finished watching “place in the sun”
Hey Emma and Alex...I discovered your wonderful videos last October 2020, you were visiting my home land of Italy and Puglia where my family is from. We have since watched a lot of your video's from the good old days learning more about you and your adventures. First, we want to say that we admire your honesty and humour. Openly dealing with your depression is very important. As I am sure you recently heard of the passing of Canadian Van Life Lee, who sadly took her life at the age of 27. Very sad. As someone that has suffered from depression repeatedly in my life, I can say that hearing other people be open about dealing with this illness, helps you feel like you are not alone and that there is hope! Please anyone out there, reach out for help, you are not alone. Should you ever make it back to Germany, we would love to host you in our beautiful Town of Landshut, near Munich, there is so much to see and do....and best of all sausages and Schweins Haxe'n! BEANS OUT!!!!
These look like a fun place to stay. Like a lot of people have already said while olives are editable off the tree. They are really bitter. Thanks for the video 👍
I would definitely stay in that adorable house for a couple of nights for sure. Life is all about experiencing it so live it . I’m done with hotels ! Going to Italy in 2022 nine of us are using air B and B to live like locals to experience the real Italy. Boy does it ever save ya money!
Hi guys, It started with me checking out videos on Turkey, which I'm dying to visit. You guys came up, and since then it's been easy to get on board. The authenticity is disarming and loveable, lol, just like you both. You're nailing it!! I recommend Montreal. It's fun...but only in the summer:)
I would need more windows so as to enjoy the view. I think I’ll stick with the 25 foot gooseneck for my tiny house build. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful video.

As lovely as that is... I'm focused on that spread of food and wine. Pure Italy at it's finest. And that prosciutto/peach rotolo? Brilliant.
Thanks Ted :D
Don't forget the basil leaf, it's what keeps all the flavours together!
We love Tiny houses🏠
I first came to know about this trulli house in alberobello in 1998 thru discovery channel. You remember those time. Thank you.

I want one. Really have to explore more and now I know such things exist.

It is simply "storybook" amazing. Tom Thumb's castle! The tiny window in the kitchen....awe.

You find the most interesting places to stay. And I love getting the history behind the town, the area or the air b&b.
He is so lucky to have you as a traditional wive. The low budget rooms / kitchens look fantastic and give you memories for life.
What an incredible experience. It is beautiful inside and out! And it doesn't look too tiny inside either, minus the tiny kitchen haha.
I never heard of a Trulo, I want one!

Eric and Allison stayed in one last year. That was a very cute one too.
Yes, I was just thinking the same.
Me too. Did you guys stay in the same one? I think yours looked slightly different, but I could be wrong. Your dinner looked amazing.
