The point is: Italy is the most fantastic tourist destination. The reason is that you can find everything there. Crystal water beaches in the south, wonderful mountains in the north, hills in the center, arts, history, tradition and everywhere fantastic food !!!! Each place has its own local food, completely different if you just move 50 kms.....and I agree with you....avoid the crowded destination like Venezia, Firenze, Roma.....ok...visit them, but take your time to travel out of them and find the hidden gems that are scattered all around.
Bingo. I've been to Italy twice, and yes, I've been to Venice and stayed in Milan, but our stays have been in Padova, Bologna, La Spezia, Torino, Ravenna, Parma, Mantova and Cortina. Italians know these places, but international tourists, not so much.
Cm'on what's this! Are you selling out our greatest historical, artistical, architectural cities this cheap! "Avoid them"?!?! Naaaa! There's A TON more to see and do, FOR SURE! But let's not always underrate home.
That’s true. Salento might be a hidden gem to foreigners but it’s definitely not to italians... my mother is from Lecce and we used to spend our holidays there and I can definitely tell that tourism in Salento has peaked in the last few years...
As a Salentinian, thank you. This video is beautiful. I'd suggest to come in May or September, even in October the sea is still warm. But not during the "high season" (June to August) because you'll find it jammed with tourists, beaches full of people and long queue of cars.

It's true that Puglia has been a very popular destination for Italian tourists from the north for a long time now, but in recent years the secret is out and more foreigners are going there too. The Salento (southern part of Puglia) is now getting pretty well known, so next time you go I'd recommend you try the northern part of Puglia which is still more known to Italians and less to foreigners. The Gargano promontory in the north of Puglia is strewn with beautiful towns, gorgeous Adriatic coast beaches, and even less mass tourism. The food is also fantastic, for example you should definitely visit a trabucco. They are old wooden structures built on the edge of a cliff that used to be used for fishing, they look like old sail boats with big wooden masts hanging out over the sea where they lower nets down. Many were abandoned but now have been repurposed into amazing local seafood restaurants where they serve incredible food from whatever they catch, and have great outdoor seating to enjoy the views with an aperitivo. Just like all of the south, the food is remarkably inexpensive especially given you are being served the best quality seafood literally caught right there, and local produce from the surrounding farms. In a big city elsewhere in Europe you would pay ten times the price for food this good. I would recommend the Trabucco da Mimì which is near the town of Peschici, also very much worth visiting.
I've been to Lecce twice, both in August during their Sant'Oronzo celebration. Fantastic! On the main plaza is a modern raised stage with modern acts, while at the corner of the plaza is a sunken Roman amphitheater where the more traditional music is performed. At sunset the entire old core of the town, built from a soft creamy limestone, is hit by the light and makes the buildings look like they are carved from butter. Totally surreal. Lovely Lecce. See you next August.

Nestled in the heart of Puglia, Lecce is a city that effortlessly blends ancient history with breathtaking Baroque architecture. Its intricate stonework, adorned with intricate carvings and ornate details, has earned it the nickname "Florence of the South." The city's historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a labyrinth of narrow streets lined with stunning churches, palaces, and squares. I read that the dark dough (of your sandwich, and perhaps that yummy pastry) comes from unrefined barley. I can't wait to eat that exact veggie sandwich. Thanks a million!
Gorgeous scenery and it's great you're showing more of Italy than just the regular tourist trail that English speaking tourists do. The pastry pasticciotto is pronounced 'pas-CHOT-to' lots of swallowed consonants and a few blended vowels!
Hi Beans!!!! What a diamond!!! It looks like my next year's holiday destination... If we can.... Talking places no one recommends: Italy, everyone goes to PISA... ok, have to see... but nothing special... but in the shadow of Pisa is the most amazing Italian City, LUCCA!!!!!! What a place!!!! I am biased, because Italian, but I can assure you that Italy offers unique scenarios and continuous surprises. It is a small peninsula if you look at the whole world. But it offers an incredible variety of landscapes, climates, customs not to mention the gastronomic offer. Nemmeno gli italiani conoscono bene l'Italia. Io l'ho visitata molto ma mi mancano ancora un infinità di bellezze da vedere.
That looks gorgeous, thank you. Will be visiting Salento next time in Italy. We have family in the North and South. Calabria has beautiful beaches, people are nice and cost is cheap.
So much fun and love how you attempt Italian... Good on you... At least you tried and Alex drove ... I just thought because Emma gets car sick. Miss Italy 🇮🇹 . Food was fabulous. We have amazing beaches here in Australia 🇦🇺 too. Love from Kayleen and Mark
Beautiful area, been in Salento this year for the first time. Visited Gallipoli and Lecce, both very charming. Seen beautiful beaches with crystal clear water, and probably the best thing is that the area is not very busy with tourist yet. Try spumone and cime di rapa pasta which is kind of traditional for the area. Thank you for the video!
Thanks guys for showing this clip. I know Lecce and Salento. I never knew there were such beautiful beaches. I've heard Lecce is now being regarded as the most beautiful place in Italy. There's just something about Italy that blows the senses. Sshhhh, don't tell anyone about that place. Cheers from Zambia.
Salento is where Northern Italians holiday. Very busy in August. Pasticcioto, Mmmm great filled pastry. Best at breakfast. You should see Alberobello with its trulli. Possibly Ostuni. Also, Gallipoli an ancient walled island city next to Baia Verde a great beach.
We invited to visit our beautiful island, Formentera. The Maldive's of Europe. Blue water, blue beaches, blue sea, blue Sky and the best sunsets in all the world. We'll be happy to show you our small and secret paradise. Great channel and better persons.❤️
best beaches in Europe Ive ever been: Ibiza (go outside high season, prizes affordable, carribean beaches [Cala de Sant Vincent !!! cute and super calm and quiet with a little restaurant at south side that makes you think you are on Hawaii] and Ibiza city is stunning). And Mallorca's mountains in the west are also quite surrealistically beautiful - as if you put the swiss alps right into the carribean sea. and the villages and towns pretty amazing of course. Have a cafe con leche and a cigar at noon in a shady and calm village center ;-) Palma de Mallorca also highly recommendable, also Pollenca and Alcudia. I focus on islands in general. Fewer people.
The sea is even more blue on the Ionian coast especially around Gallipoli...and as someone mentioned the beaches are very busy in summer, especially mid August when most of the italians are on vacation.
Thank you so much for this video!! You made me fall in love with this amazing area of Italy! I used your video to decide where to go and you were spot on!! We loved it so much we are taking our kids back with us the next trip! Love the humor!! So funny and informative!
For the best beach of Europe (or more) you have to go to Lampedusa, spiaggia dei Conigli. There are many of fantastic beaches in Italy, but for me, it's absolutely the best. You like quiet places, so I recommend you to go in June and maybe you can see sea turtle's eggs too. When that beach comes back to me I have goosebumps
I'm watching this because my Italian cousins from Caserta are vacationing in this area at the moment. I wish I could be with them but because of Covid I'm stuck in Canada. You guys are funny. Had fun watching. I wish though you wouldn't compare this region with the Maldives, etc. It's unique and beautiful all on its own. No comparison.
I keep telling people to visit Puglia! Glad you guys enjoyed this beautiful place. Please do visit Torre Lapillo or Punta prosciutto next time :) The pasticciotto yum yum!!! hahaha
I think you are extremely lucky to be around this part of the world in off peak season. Italians take their holidays around July and August and these beaches would be packed with people. Generally I don’t understand why Brits are overly obsessed only with Spain when there are so many amazing places and coastlines south Europe. (nothing to complain about Spain which I love and find it absolutely beautiful)
Would love to go. I'm in the U.S. and did my DNA ancenstry through 23andme. It shows that my whole ancestry is from Bari and Lecce. It's crazy. I need to go here! Beautiful.
Any of the beaches on Mull were gorgeous. I was really surprised that everyone I knew always told me to avoid Glasgow, but I absolutely fell in love with the city.
Best beach? You should try the Hebrides Islands in Scotland. Admittedly not hot, but when the sun is out, the sand is as white as it gets and the clear blue of the sea. It looks tropical even if it is blummin freezing.
I was really very amazed by Ohrid in North Macedonia. Ist a little town by the see. Although friends told me about it, I didn`t expect to be as beautiful as it really was at the end. And the great food! All this was soooo icerdibly cheap…

Wow....... just Wow!!!
Best beach that I have been to... Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsunday Islands.
Magic!!!
Pisa - ‘nothing special’?? I found it amazingly beautiful and well worth visiting. Also did Lucca, pretty place.
I spent a few months in Lecce and toured the Salento....it’s magnificent.....so miss it.🍷🇮🇹
Gorgeous place. Croatia have similar beaches they share the Adriatic ocean. So beautiful!
I have started to follow you a few days ago and I love the way you share your trips and your laugh is so contagious!!! Thank you!!!
Agree. I've been watching Travel Beans for quite some time. They are my favorite YT channel. Welcome and keep watching.
You guys rock! Don't ever stop. Ever. I think lots of people love you, that just don't say so......so I'm saying for all of us silent people. Please don't ever stop.
Amber!! 🥰 That is incredibly sweet of you to say, thank you so much!
I am planning my first trip to Italy and this was one of the best videos I've watched. Beautiful.
I am biased, because Italian, but I can assure you that Italy offers unique scenarios and continuous surprises. It is a small peninsula if you look at the whole world. But it offers an incredible variety of landscapes, climates, customs not to mention the gastronomic offer.
That looks gorgeous, thank you. Will be visiting Salento next time in Italy. We have family in the North and South. Calabria has beautiful beaches, people are nice and cost is cheap.
Italy... thd best country in the word!
You make me happy. Just had to say it. SADNESS OUT!
Another nice video. Keep it up guys
That part of Italy is packed with Italians on vacation and tourists during the summer.
ahhh I can't wait to explore Southern Italy😍❤️
this is the place I like. less people and quite... you can enjoy the natural beauty. may go fishing and diving.
I literally took notes.
Thanks to you guys, my family and I will be going to this beach this week. Thank you.
Travel beans is the my favourite you tube channel
Thank you for sharing! Beautiful video and u two are too funny. Wishing u so many more fabulous adventures ahead.
Breath taking...
Thank you for the lovely tour of Italy
We invited to visit our beautiful island, Formentera. The Maldive's of Europe. Blue water, blue beaches, blue sea, blue Sky and the best sunsets in all the world. We'll be happy to show you our small and secret paradise. Great channel and better persons.❤️
I LOVE Italy!
You guys are quickly becoming my favorite travel vloggers, mostly because of being so funny. Nice job, guys!
Gallipoli and Santa Maria di Leuca are nice places too.
best beaches in Europe Ive ever been: Ibiza (go outside high season, prizes affordable, carribean beaches [Cala de Sant Vincent !!! cute and super calm and quiet with a little restaurant at south side that makes you think you are on Hawaii] and Ibiza city is stunning).
Sardinia (Italy) is called the Caribbean of Europe, rightly because there are the most beautiful beaches in Europe!
The sea is even more blue on the Ionian coast especially around Gallipoli...and as someone mentioned the beaches are very busy in summer, especially mid August when most of the italians are on vacation.
You guys are wonderful, I enjoy watching your clips, keep doing the good job you do. 🇷🇴🏴
Thank you so much for this video!! You made me fall in love with this amazing area of Italy! I used your video to decide where to go and you were spot on!! We loved it so much we are taking our kids back with us the next trip! Love the humor!! So funny and informative!
Wow what an amazing gem of Italy 🩵
Please do visit Torre Lapillo or Punta prosciutto next time :)
The pasticciotto yum yum!!!
Well....our lovely Sardinia IS marvelous...but yeah. Gorgeous, Salento!
Salento overrated place
Salento is absolutely stunning!
Great video, really enjoyed it. Will visit Puglia in June for the first time so looking for as much advice and tips as possible. Thanks again
Grazie per le belle parole. Un abbracciò con affetto dall'Italia.
Unspoiled and beautiful beach. Well done. Keep it up👍👍👍👍
Would love to go. I'm in the U.S. and did my DNA ancenstry through 23andme. It shows that my whole ancestry is from Bari and Lecce. It's crazy. I need to go here! Beautiful.
Beat place on earth
Any of the beaches on Mull were gorgeous. I was really surprised that everyone I knew always told me to avoid Glasgow, but I absolutely fell in love with the city.
Best beach? You should try the Hebrides Islands in Scotland. Admittedly not hot, but when the sun is out, the sand is as white as it gets and the clear blue of the sea. It looks tropical even if it is blummin freezing.
You should try Sardinia or Sicily
superb tipps, thanks guys! will be there in the first two weeks of September 😍
You two are wicked awesome!!! Can't wait to watch more of your videos!!
I was really very amazed by Ohrid in North Macedonia. Ist a little town by the see. Although friends told me about it, I didn`t expect to be as beautiful as it really was at the end. And the great food! All this was soooo icerdibly cheap…
