Yea, I halfway expected either the Power Rangers or Captain Planet to suddenly arrive and take out Omega himself with that scene. e_o The cheesiness was strong there.
***** The thing about Dirge is the entire game isn't set to be kiddie. I would understand if there were plenty of FF7-like moments throughout the whole game where we're entering Honey Bee Inn, dressed in drag, while telling some mob boss we're gonna chop-squish-smash his nuts. If the overall game sets itself to have those cheesy elements, then scenes like this absolutely work. Unfortunately, here in Dirge, the entire tone of the game is dark, mellow, and very subtle (the angst is strong in this game @_@). It's Vincent's game, so naturally it's gonna have a more serious feel to it (keep in mind, this was at a time when dark heroes like Spawn were at their peak of popularity; Square wanted to capitalize on that by featuring Vincent as their main protagonist). Only Cait Sith and Yuffie provide cheesy comic relief, but it's still not enough to make that scene flow with the rest of the game. Thus, when this scene pops outta nowhere, it sticks out like a sore thumb. And considering it's intended to showcase Vincent's pinnacle moment, it kinda lessens that 'gonna-kick-some-serious-ass' feeling we're supposed to get. But meh, whatever. We all see things differently. ;) In the end, it's really a bizarre, campy scene. It's super cheesy and I enjoy good cheese. :D
***** Again, it feels out of place if the cheese hasn't been properly laid out beforehand. Fatal Frame 2 was a dark, serious game. It could've used some lighthearted moments there. ;-; But imagine if Fatal Frame 2's final battle ended with the Ghostbusters making an appearance in X-format and shouting to Mio: 'I AIN'T AFRAID OF NO GHOST! GHOOOOOOSTBUSTER!' O_O Just because a dark game could use some lighthearted moments doesn't mean you can slap just ANY quirky scene in it, especially at the last second. It'll just clash with 99.9% of everything else that's been established so far. It's why in Silent Hill games all of its campy stuff are specifically reserved as Easter Eggs. You have to go outta your personal way to unlock them and make the intentional decision to dress up Heather like a Sailor Moon chick, if that's how you roll. But the game developers themselves know they can't officially embed these quirky things within the game's regular narrative. Their games are just too dark and serious that the funny stuff has to be set aside, outside the main plot and CGI scenes. Again, it's all about setting up the tone and properly making room for those lighthearted moments. Sadly, Dirge took itself way too seriously. Within a few seconds it turned from a 99.9% very-serious-very-mellow-action-shooter game to an episode of the Power Rangers (0.1%).@_@ It was too sudden, too late, too little.
weird how everybody is fussing about not playing as Cloud, did everyone have that much of a tantrum in the original game when Cloud was MIA after forking the black materia to Sephiroth? I love Cloud, he's my fave FF character of all, but he found peace and resolved the last of his issues in Advent Children so there was really no need for him to be anything more than a support character here. Dirge of Cerberus forces Vincent to confront his own demons and since his primary weapon is a gun it only makes sense for it to be a shooter game. I liked it personally.
As you can see from the beginning, they've rushed in to join the WRO in the fight. When Cloud, Tifa and Barrett call Vincent they're still on the battlefield. That's why you can hear gun fire etc.
I don't get, why couldn't we have also gotten to play as Cloud in this game. I mean seriously, with the events of the main game and AC behind him, Cloud's not only got those cool as hell Fusion Swords, but his old spirit back, and we can't get to play as him.
I love this game. I beat it in normal mode & now I'm trying to do it in hard mode. This game is off the hook. I never get tired of watching the cutscenes. THEY'RE AWESOME !!!!
In FF7 ACC He reomves the sword from where it was at and fixes it and everything to make it look as good as new. Its now in the church near the water and flowers cover Zacks grave, but cloud doesnt refer to that. I just read this on Wiki. I love Clud and his bike and sword!!
Overall quality is great but Sephiroth and Zack miss the mark. Imo Cloud’s new VA doesn’t even compare to Steve Burton and seeing how the old ones were all kicked out leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I notice the comments about Cloud sounding happier, which is true, but Tifa sounds happier as well. They’re making each other happy. 😊
Rosso is probably putting everything she has into her strikes while Cloud is chilling talking on the phone 6:18
I don't think he was still with rosso atp, or else in such situation he would've gotten his butt kicked 💀
@@mymanjohan5101 nah, Deepground is weak af, Cloud could have handled them with ease
@@alejandrobonilla3049 you're trippin
Sure they are not on par with weiss, but going past vincent and especially LB/Chaos Vincent which is arguably top 1 w cloud in the group is nuts, they're not short work at all lol
@@mymanjohan5101 Weiss and Nero are the strongest of the group but Rosso and Azul are considerably weaker, Cloud could handle those two
@@alejandrobonilla3049 i mean their fighting styles are different for sure, pretty confident that they can handle cloud and the gang
I believe cloud can best azul because he's a more flexible fighter and had a lot of stamina, but rosso's different because of her bloodburst and fighting style akin to cloud's...personally, i wouldn't take her for granted
Nero and weiss are definitely the big fishes though
Poor Red, always left out. Advent Children he only got one line. In this he silently sighs or yawns.
I loved that they brought back all the characters and not just Vincent.
Oh my GOD 8:09 can you get any cheesier??
Yea, I halfway expected either the Power Rangers or Captain Planet to suddenly arrive and take out Omega himself with that scene. e_o The cheesiness was strong there.
Haha the first thing I thought was power rangers. It looked like they were all going to transform into hero's clothes
***** The sad thing about this part of the game, though, is that it was meant to look bad-ass... ;-;
GHOOOOOOSTBUSTER!'
O_O
Just because a dark game could use some lighthearted moments doesn't mean you can slap just ANY quirky scene in it, especially at the last second.
The best choice they made in the Remake was to change Tifa's VA.
And Aerith
more like all their VAs

Cloud on phone: "don't go getting yourself killed now."
Vincent: "as if i would ! "
more cloud=more happiness and epic motorcycles and entries=sugar crazed me
When playing this game for the first time all i could think about was: " Where the fuck is cloud and when can i play as him?".
Man I just realized completed Avalanche's original goal of destroying the Midgar reactors at the end of this game
weird how everybody is fussing about not playing as Cloud, did everyone have that much of a tantrum in the original game when Cloud was MIA after forking the black materia to Sephiroth? I love Cloud, he's my fave FF character of all, but he found peace and resolved the last of his issues in Advent Children so there was really no need for him to be anything more than a support character here. Dirge of Cerberus forces Vincent to confront his own demons and since his primary weapon is a gun it only makes sense for it to be a shooter game. I liked it personally.
+combatmaster I was eight when I played FFVII so you better believe I threw an absolute bitch fest when Cloud was missing and out of action.
lol I worried about him too! I was like---NO! NOT LIKE AERITH!!! PLEASE DON'T KILL HIM TOO!
Cloud is still the protagonist of the entire compilation. Furthermore, it would be nice if we saw him in some post depression action
@@iam4026only like advent children
The rest is different protags
A full lenght fight between Cloud and Rosso would have been great to see.
Lucas Gianoli I like to think she was so easy because Cloud whooped her
@@thehonoredone8470 Rosso is a Genesis clone, for Cloud she is nothing
Cid sounds like the Sergeant from full metal jacket.
This game still makes me yearn for a FF7 remake on ps2
Cid is just too cool for school xD
Him and Barrett are funny as hell.
Cloud: what do you think?
Me: he's so freakin cocky, but that's why I love him!
cloud: "i don't think you should worry tho" Calm as fuck while fighting
Can't wait for them to remake this.
I have a feeling they will rework Dirge into DLC for Remake part 3.
Thanks for posting this! I've been looking EVERYWHERE!!!
*hugs*
As you can see from the beginning, they've rushed in to join the WRO in the fight. When Cloud, Tifa and Barrett call Vincent they're still on the battlefield. That's why you can hear gun fire etc.
The biggest smile went across my face when Redemption started to play :P
I don't get, why couldn't we have also gotten to play as Cloud in this game. I mean seriously, with the events of the main game and AC behind him, Cloud's not only got those cool as hell Fusion Swords, but his old spirit back, and we can't get to play as him.
Happy Cloud , Happy Tifa
Tifa's voice is so cute
after playing rebirth, i really cant see how the group is amazed in being in the cosmos.
Seeing they all in action again made me miss aerith
I’ve always wanted to play this, I really hope they do a remastered version!
It's cool to see Reeve actually being his normal self among the party in the cutscenes instead of Cait Sith.
I hope they won't change much in the remake. This need to stay as it is
phone call scene never gets old xD 5:46
I love this game. I beat it in normal mode & now I'm trying to do it in hard mode. This game is off the hook. I never get tired of watching the cutscenes. THEY'RE AWESOME !!!!
This is footage from the game sequel to Advent Children that was on the PS2, Dirge of Cerberus.
In FF7 ACC He reomves the sword from where it was at and fixes it and everything to make it look as good as new. Its now in the church near the water and flowers cover Zacks grave, but cloud doesnt refer to that. I just read this on Wiki.
I love Clud and his bike and sword!!
Cloud vs Vincent on phone seeing who can sound more cool.
I really hope the voice acting is better in the remake than this, cloud and Vincent are alright but everyone else is awful.
Lukas vincent is Logan
It is thank god
Came from the future to tell you that is pretty fucking good :D
Juliana Araújo Soares gotta agree, some of it is a little cheesy but overall very good. Haven’t beat it yet though
Overall quality is great but Sephiroth and Zack miss the mark. Imo Cloud’s new VA doesn’t even compare to Steve Burton and seeing how the old ones were all kicked out leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
why does people hates this game? I mean, yeah there are some cringy moments, but as a spinoff i think this game is pretty good
I played this before ff7 😂
Gameplay was complete ass, but the story was very compelling.
Maybe gameplay
@@pepsiboy4274 same my first same with Crisis Core and watching the movie without knowledge of the long FF VII game
@MikinoTifa I loved how they all flashed to everyone's happy faces. It reminded me of those old superhero shows where all the supporting characters cheer for the victor lol! This was so awesomely classic and cheesy.
HAHAHA. 5:45, Vincent's looking at the phone like it's a foreign object.
I love that scene :)
