Just a reminder to all to not get too caught up in the aesthetics of "minimalism", and to not treat it like something that needs to be planned, reconned and executed. It should not feel restrictive. It should be soul-enlivening. Check in with yourself at all stages of the journey. Discard that which is weighing you down. Bring joy into your home through laughter, gratitude, and presence (which you should now have more time for) - not the new bowl you had to find and then purchase to replace your fav', which you tossed because it did not vibe with the sand and stone decor you think you should like. So many are misusing this beautiful tool and end up living the same life they always have, but in a more restrictive manner, and likely even less aligned with their authentic selves. Are you trying to be in control by depriving yourself and following a formula, or are you on an actual healing journey of self-discovery? Real-talk. Minimalism and slow living are ideals that should be defined by each individual - not a specific aesthetic or set of activities. It's okay to not like sourdough bread, painting, gardening, a neutral palette, or the act of endlessly trying to curate a look/personal brand (unless it brings you joy). The healing part of this journey is the identification of how little you actually need in order to be happy and how happiness should be defined by no one but yourself - you don't need external validation or permission to step away from a lifestyle you were taught to want (and don't let minimalism become just that). Are you constantly in need of a vacation from your life? Or is each day fulfilling? Lastly, I try to refrain from using "minimalist" as a new identity, because who we are without the labels is perfection. I hope that when we ask the new generation of kids what they want to be when they grow up, or who they are, they just say "happy". Enjoy the journey. xx
I don't even know where to begin but I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing me so much joy and peacefulness. I found your channel less than 1 month ago and it changed my life. I felt overwhelmed. So I started to declutter and to embrace this way of life. It'll be a long process... I have so many things to do but yesterday, when I brought many unused items to a foundation and saw their smiles on their faces, I knew I got it right. Finally.
I have noticed that watching minimalist videos (especially yours!) feels so calming when I feel so stressed, anxious and overwhelmed which happens a lot. I want to at some point in my life to become somewhat a minimalist if I can. I really want to declutter a lot of stuff but for me the most stressful part is not always the decluttering part but what to do with the stuff and how to get rid of them after being done, so instead your room looks even more decluttered before you even started (kind of like when you start organizing, it is chaos in the beginning). I don't know if that is just me or what.
This lovely tour proves that minimalist homes need not feel cold or uninviting, but can be havens of warmth and comfort. Also, glad your doggies love their yard and playing fetch - that's too cute!
Your home is so beautiful - thank you for letting me 'visit'. I smiled when you were talking about making guests feel at home in the guest room, and your little dog hopped up on the bed like he was illustrating how welcoming it felt!
LOVE THIS VIDEO, THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR UNCOMPLICATED HOME AND THE REASONS YOU DO AND DON’T HAVE WHAT YOU DO AND DON’T HAVE, IT’S WONDERFUL…IVE JUST STARTED NEEDING COLOR…SO IM ADDING IT IN IN SIMPLE WARM WAYS THAT MAKE ME SMILE…
There’s this calming sense of peace that’s flowing through your home! I didn’t feel or see that in the other homes but this one has a certain zen vibe! It’s the kind of space that every room the hallway the kitchen everything flows in rhythm! So it’s like you’re surrounded by this peacefulness this tranquility as soon as you step foot in the door! Very nice, Sophie🤍🤍🤍
I have lived in over 40 different homes. I love your home, it's so elegant and simple! I am a minimalist too but I honestly never really bought much from the beginning so it is very natural to me and nothing that I have intentionally learnt.
Your towel rack animals are sooo cool!!! Such a cozy space. I really love how well maintained and clean it truly is. I can't believe you have moved as much as you have! I have moved two times in my life and am about to turn 40. I hope to move again in the next couple of years.
Sophie, thank you so much for welcoming us into your home! I can tell how much you love and appreciate each of your items. You take nothing for granted, but show so much gratitude! You have so much wisdom to share, but you do it in such a gentle way! I love all the quotes that you always add throughout your videos. I always look forward to your latest video, because I know it will add so much beauty to my day! Thank you for being you! I hope you have a blessed day with your husband and furry babies!🙏🏼💕
I lived in Hawaii for years. It’s extremely easy to be a minimalist there because rooms are small, you’re always outside, and you barely experience seasons.
Can’t decide what I love more your home or your adorable doggies!! Thanks for sharing Sophie, am renovating myself, and keeping it simple is a good place to start. 😊 home, sweet home 🏡
I love the warm white on the walls, natural materials, texture, lack of patterns (the striped pillow pops) and the correct ratio of furniture to walls lol. Cozy and clean. I like open shelving too.
Your home is not only adorable but gives such a calming and meditative energy 🙏🙏 Thanks for inspiring all of us with this home tour. I live in the UK and always felt the houses here are smaller specially compared to the US but I realised the houses are lovely with backyard gardens we just need to know how to arrange the space with what we love rather than stuffing everything marketed to us 🥰🥰
Love the way you live So simple and so peaceful. That kind of life I want but it’s not happening with kids and un organized husband . But I am happy and accepting the way it is . Your voice is so soothing ❤️
Hi Sophie your home is beautiful less is truly more I’m getting their but still away to go I’ve been chipping away at it for nearly a year I’ve been overwhelmed I’ve struggled I’ve come close to tears at times but I’m so pleased that my eyes have been opened to minimal living i really look forward to the day that I’m organised I’ve missed all the nice summer days as I was decluttering I’m hoping I can enjoy next summer and come home to a tidy house with just essential items your videos along with some others have truly helped me and got me to where I am at the moment thank you
SOPHIE!! I LOVE YOUR HOME!! 😍😍 Just looking at everything you showed us brought an immediate sense of calm to me. Everything is beautiful, peaceful and stress free. I am planning on making changes to my apartment and your videos along with another minimalist I follow on RUclips, are inspiring me so much. You don't realize how much you have been helping me . 🙏 You are a blessing Sophie. Thank you ❤️🙏
I love the way to speak of your home. It’s a vibe I try to create in my garden, since the garden is the space I can have pretty much to myself. Thanks for sharing.
It's such a beautiful space you have created ❤ All the years of you learning and growing, it has made you such a calmer person, and it resonates with everything you say and do. ✨️

Nice home! I remember this wabi sabi collection of Mr. Axel Vervoordt, that I can never afford, lol! I seem to like your style! I've picked some ideas in there! Thanks, again!
Your home is very spacious and airy ☁ Thank you for showing us around your lovely home! I loved the animal towel rack you have in your bathroom 😊 Your videos always inspire me to look at what I have and make positive changes to my life and surroundings 💖
Thank you for showing us your home!!!❤ It's so lovely and inspiring. I hope to have a house like this someday and to remember all your great advices when decorating it instead of filling it with junk. Your videos always bring me peace.
Your home is beautiful and reflects intention, consideration for our planet, and is a soothing space. Also, your “mobile” home is lovely as well-filled with thoughtfulness, love, creativity and mindfulness. Have a beautiful day 🩵
Your home is so so pretty ..calm ...spacious and everything is white even the cloth hangers..🌼🌼🌼. Your jewellery box i guess it's your lucky charm...🐞🐞🐞. Thank you for the tour...❤❤❤.
Thank you for inspiring me with every Video you make. For make me feeling good, like I am lay in a bubble of slow living and my life can have a piano background like your Videos.. You make a great job. Wish you and your family the best ❤️
Thank you for sharing! I’m close to buying my first home, and am overwhelmed at the thought of decorating so much space. Videos like these help remind me that I don’t have to if I truly don’t want to. There is nothing wrong with blank space or just a few pieces here and there; every wall or corner doesn’t have to be filled to the brim in order to be beautiful and homey.
Your house reminds me of a gorgeous plantation-era cottage I lived in on the Big Island when my kids were little. The kitchen actually made me a little teary-eyed from all the good memories. (Except I didn't super love the grout between the tiles. 😆) Thanks for sharing this thoughtful tour of your home.
Wow. Thank you for sharing your personal space with all of us. You have such a beautiful genuine spirit. I love your channel for this reason and so much more! Sending you love and light. ✨
I love your videos. They are so calming. I'm still a minimalist-in-the-making...I realize there's a lot of personal reflection and work involved to get there...but I'm on my way and your videos are immensely helpful. Thank you.
Hi Sophie! Found your channel only recently, have been binge watching all of your videos. Thank you for sharing your private space. Loved all the rooms, they just breath with tranquility.
This was a beautifully crafted video. I watched it twice and was impressed by the way you took us through your home, introduced us to so much of the why behind your choices, and then ended with such a thoughtful message. I really enjoyed it, so thank you.
Thank you Malama for showing me around your beautiful home, you have lovely pets also, very cute, can see they like been on the beds, my pets do the same. Your outside space looks lovely for the dogs and journerly. You've really made the home your own Malama, good on you, I love your office, and desk, laptop. Thank you. Have a nice Friday Malama. :))
Sophie your home is truly a tranquil oasis and you can feel the love and care radiating through the screen, as always you are such an inspiration in living a beautiful fulfilling life. I would love to know where you got your sheets and duvet from? your bed looks like the most comfortable cloud to sleep on. Thank you for being such an incredible role model
I love watching your vlog especially about minimalist home tour. Nice to see your house in Oahu thou l am more like your house in Maui. 😊 Have a great day everyday.
I just moved into my own place this week and much of my decor is similar! Bought a few minimal paintings for the walls, the boho net thing, a vase of cattail-like beige/white…not sure what it’s called 😅, and a few plants. It feels SO cozy!
I cannot thank you enough for this Beautifully curated video. 😍 your video will be helpful for me while I create an Instagram Reel on my minimalist home tour. I have always admired your work. All the luck in the new house 🏡
