Worked this attraction nearly 5 years. Even when placing warnings in people’s hands and having them watch 5 warning videos they would claim they weren’t warned about the intensity of the ride. Honestly I wish horizons was still there. Believe it or not as of the posting of this video there are people that still work at M:S that also worked at horizons, and one that opened Epcot
When I was in my 20s at thought the ride was great. Now in my 40s, I haven’t ridden it now in at least a decade though. I would love to see a new Horizons. Maybe they should keep Space 220, tear out mission space, and build some sort of Space Horizons Omnimover ride.
I’ve got a video in the works for Stitch’s Great Escape too!! I think when it comes to hyperbole, the most ‘disgusting’ ride would be well suited to that one :)
I was thinking this was going to be about Tiana‘s Bayou Adventure. I really didn’t look closely at the thumbnail and just saw Disney’s most hated ride. 😂
It was mostly a disappointment for me. The queue really gives you unrealistic expectations for the ride. I was expecting a a space adventure, not just a nauseating launch and landing.
I always hated the queue length, but enjoyed the ride and the "interactive" video game that you passed through on the way to the gift shop/exit. I can't remember the exact concept, but I do remember players being allocated roles and having to work together as a team to supply/use "materials" to complete a series of repair tasks on a "Mars Base" type scenario.
I went on this ride not long after it opened. To be honest, the hype -- people got motion sickness! pregnant women advised not to go on this ride! -- made me believe that this was going to be a _much_ more intense experience than it actually was. Like others have said, it's basically a centrifuge ride with an elaborate disguise. I had a good time overall, liked the gravity effect, and didn't think about it much afterward. (I vibed more with Test Track, actually.) Mission Space did give me the opportunity to overhear this funny exchange of dialogue: *Ride Attendant:* [to a nervous-looking little girl] Are you okay? You look petrified. *Girl:* No, I don't. I'm looking over there.
Before Disney dropped this terrible ride Epcot it was called the "Gravitron", and I first rode it in 1989 when I was 12 at the local county fair. They replaced one of the most elaborate and immersive rides in theme park history, with one of the most basic and by far the worst. Welcome to the future, where humanity stands inside a spinning wheel watching TV. "If you can dream, it you can do it"
I remember going on this ride last summer, the more intense mission, with a full line. While I loved how immersed it was, (the sights, sounds, astronauts, memorabilia and even Gina Torres from Firefly was a lovely addition) the claustrophobic tight squeeze and motion sickness I felt were my only two gripes about it. I adored having my own "job" in the 4 person crew tho, it gave more immersion and thrill than I was expecting. I wasnt aware its a spinning ride, that does explain the motion sickness, nor about Space 220 and the immersion of it. Wow!
This ride opened when I was eleven and I loved it! I'm really into these kind of rides and I like 'intense' attractions but don't enjoy roller coasters. My parents hated it tho, and my mom refused to get on any more rides the rest of that trip. Luckily she was always more into the food and the World Showcase anyways
Thanks, I guess I'm in that minority that LOVES this ride--and so do my kids. Thanks to those short lines, a day at EPCOT isn't complete without looping the ride at least a half-dozen times. I think our record is close to if not making an even dozen in one day. In all that looping we may do the green mission once just to say we did. I truly hope it does stay around a long time. I agree it isn't for everyone, but as a space fan, something as close to space flight as you can get without a billionaire budget. Full disclosure, I never experienced Horizons, so don't know what it replaced, just Mission space for the past 20 years or so.
Thank you for sharing your viewpoint, so glad to hear that the ride does still have its loyal fans and your family enjoys it!🚀 I think you’re right that being a space fan helps as I remember loving the ride when I was younger - although it’s become a tougher ride for me over time!
I miss Horizons, but I also really like Mission Space Intense Orange...The ONLY part of the attraction that ever made me queezy (and I am not prone to motion sickness) was the revolving space station, a prop reused from Horizons, in the queue area. Now it seems they've stopped it from rotating. When it did rotate, I simply had to turn my back on it and not look at it.
I think Mission Space is a great ride (not Horizons great) but most people do not expect a ride that intense on Disney World. It also replaced Horizons which really sucks and it should have been built someplace else. So it has everything going against it.
It's pretty much garbage. They took a beloved attraction, tore it down, and spent over $100 million (sources say closer to $250) on a giant centrifuge motion simulator with Playstation 3 graphics that is pretty much universally loathed. Awful.
You forgot one of the other tractions that really failed and that was where that space hotel is remember that that’s the read most recent failure that space hotel were it was a Star Wars kind of theme thing or the first order tried to commandeer a hotel it was the ship that was going to the hotel the ship itself was a hotel remember that you gotta do something on that you should’ve added that your video as the actual final aspect of the failures of the space program stuff but this one was Star Wars but still everybody loved it but the biggest problem with it was too damn expensive way too expensive that’s why nobody they do it once and they never come back. I’m just seeing what people have been saying all along about that truth is maybe people aren’t ready to go into space they’re intrigued by it with the nausea that comes with it is not applicable to anybody who wants to deal with that I mean they never addressed handicap people people who will win in wheelchairs your things like that have to be considered talked about in your program as far as failed rides at Disney whether it’s Disney World or Disneyland but I can see that is mostly Disney World which is fine you need to address that that’s my comment have a beautiful day and hope to see this update in the read most recently failed ride experience because it was too darn expensive and almost impossible for anybody to afford people had a mortgage their home just to have just to go on experience and that’s not right OK that’s OK that’s all I have to say have a beautiful day and look at what I wrote here and see what you can compile to do another video on this series thank you.
I will never forget Horizons and miss it dearly 😢

Don't think that Mission Space is the most hated Disney ride, Stitch's Great Escape was.
I’ve got a video in the works for Stitch’s Great Escape too!! I think when it comes to hyperbole, the most ‘disgusting’ ride would be well suited to that one :)
Alien Encounter was better than Stich's Great Escape, but it still wasn't that bad.
I was thinking this was going to be about Tiana‘s Bayou Adventure. I really didn’t look closely at the thumbnail and just saw Disney’s most hated ride. 😂
Never should have trashed Horizons. Just update it.
I'd like this comment a million times if I could.
I’d like this comment a million times if I could
they got rid of it because of something about a sink hole
Rode it several times. Had big meals and alcohol. Never phased me. I didnt think it was that big of a deal and wished it pulled more G's
It was mostly a disappointment for me. The queue really gives you unrealistic expectations for the ride. I was expecting a a space adventure, not just a nauseating launch and landing.
Disney is so interesting in how it rides come and go, awesome video😀
The only bad memory I have on that ride is how long I have to wait to get on it!
This is one of my favorite rides at Disney.
I dont know a single adult that can ride that ride without getting sick
me
I loved it. I’m in my late 50’s and rode it twice. My daughter who’s in her 20’s couldn’t handle it.😂😂😂
Great job!! I had no idea of this rides history. I’m not a Mission Space hater, but I’m not a Mission Space lover either.
I always hated the queue length, but enjoyed the ride and the "interactive" video game that you passed through on the way to the gift shop/exit. I vividly remember going on this when it first opened and was so disappointed when I found out it was just a spinning ride lmao.

Probably my favorite ride in all of Disney as it is a near real simulation of experiencing high g forces.
Most hated? I'm pretty sure there's better candidates for that. I love this ride
It's the only ride in all of WDW that I have not been on and will not go on.
I remember going on this ride last summer, the more intense mission, with a full line. I hope they do replace it! Most hated ride everrrrr
I loved mission space, something special, new and amazing g-forces. And nobody i know hates this ride...

My parents hated it tho, and my mom refused to get on any more rides the rest of that trip. Luckily she was always more into the food and the World Showcase anyways
I don’t think this is the most hated. It’s not even a bad ride. Only bad thing about it is the poor quality video on the monitors.
Thanks, I guess I'm in that minority that LOVES this ride--and so do my kids. Thanks to those short lines, a day at EPCOT isn't complete without looping the ride at least a half-dozen times. I like it. Who cares that it's an oversized gravitron with theming? Most of the rides are something that already existed + a theme.
i also love it. where else can you do something like it? nowhere
Not going to lie, I didn’t even realise this was a ride 😂
I though the most hated ride was Tianas Bayou Fake Mountain?
Worst! Had to leave the park after riding.
Me too
Bring back Horizons! But better
I like mission space, I live in California, but I like it, it should stay.
0:47 How many people here was thinking "Fist Of The North Star"?
I just took my first trip to WDW and this was the only ride I skipped.
I miss Horizons, but I also really like Mission Space Intense Orange...The ONLY part of the attraction that ever made me queezy (and I am not prone to motion sickness) was the revolving space station, a prop reused from Horizons, in the queue area. i never got sick, but i was never really impressed by this ride. scrap it. bring horizons back!
#justiceformissionspace
I love the ride
Love this ride.
I love mission space so this video gets a major 👎
I love Mission Space. Definitely better than Horizons. I will admit I like the Green side better.
