Joan seems genuinely pleased to see Meg @25:09, I think she actually cracks a smile lol.
i think she was actually laughing
Trust Marlene to be the voice of tact! In referring to the smelly new inmate.. lmao.
Myra will always be my favourite Boss Cocky; she handled Lou and her puppet like a proper Boss in that cell!
When a character is either in the pound or the hospital, i assume they are on holiday, because i would think that it would be hard to take time off in the middle of filming unless they did a couple of shows without them and just mentioned their name. this show is really good, some episodes like the fire at wentworth and when bea escaped in an officers uniform were so good and well written. prisoner is a cult classic show. no wonder it was so popular with the viewers for so long.
altho sometimes its personal stuff... like i heard there was a broken arm n broken nose during shooting... things like that
Yeh for various reasons an actor needed a break and so the pound was a convenient way to briefly write them out as was an unseen transfer such as when Doreen and Judy were sent to Barnhurst.
@@IndianChiefDarkhouse both weren't in barnhurst
@@darrendunn134 eh, yeah, they both were.
Don't mess with Myra Desmond... what a bad ass, taking out Lou and her crony like that! No messing around. Nice! Imagine if she tag teamed with Bea Smith as double top dog, they'd be unstoppable! lol
Both brilliant.
They did serve time together but before the start of the programme so we never saw them but they did do time together.
Bea would be to hot headed for Myra…
colleen just sing "day by day" and everyone in wentworth will love ya!
Naw, she's gotta sing the midnight special
"you'd been in a Barnsley pub you'd know not to try that", great line from Mr C
I thought he was from America
@@bernadettelamb5990???
I love Dennis,s yorkshire accent
@@bernadettelamb5990America? He's a Yorkshireman. Lol. It's been said plenty of times.
@@rosiew1952 I've spoken to several Yorkshire people (including my wife) and they all said it sounds not very Yorkshire.
Ettie is another remake of Lizzie - false imprisonment.
This is my third round of watching and I still feel like it's the first time I've seen each episode. Best programme ever!
Why the sarcasm, Tammy? No need...no need at all!
Lampshade have you the heard the saying 'sarcasm is the lowest form of wit' a person is either funny or their not and she's not!
Because Wentworths allowed no oldies besides Lizzie
@Adeola Ogundele I think Lizzie had more marbles than Ettie. Ettie still thought it was World War 2 1940s when it was 1985. 🙄
Not every old inmate is a remake of Lizzie
The Freak wasting no time in pulling the gun out and firing some rounds. So bad ass! Love it! lol
🤣
Lol!
She didnt kill him this time either. Just wounded him on the leg.
Judy's a bloody hypocrite, I've lost count of the times that she's had a one sided crush....now she refuse to help Sam through her tough time.
I hate how Judy treats poor Sam in this. Though I don’t think Sam had a crush, she probably saw Judy as a mother figure, more motherly than she has experienced with anyone else in her life.
I've never understood why people like Judy she's always ditching her friends for girls she fancies and never has the balls to apologise afterwards, she's instantly forgiven. She moans about every single top dog about how they handle things and is a complete coward, when it comes to fighting she's happy to fight smaller women or 5v1 someone but when it's a fair fight she squeels pacemaker. She's the Biggest coward in the series. She asked Myra to be top dog and made it very difficult for her once she did step up. Judys a fool and a shit friend and over all about as dumb as Doreen.
@@bernadettelamb54 Even Margo and Lou who can't fight can easily kick her fat butt.
@@bernadettelamb54 agreed! she tells myra do be a top dog and then when she does anything she complains, she was also crap at running the half way house too!
@@bernadettelamb54 Judy's character changed significantly when Myra came about. Many times Judy stood up to Bea physically and others like Margo as well. The problem is Myra was basically the original Judy without a pacemaker.
And the first rule of TV writing is don't have two duplicate characters, so Judy became a "no violence" prisoner, and a total wuss compared to what she once was.. Check her out when she first came in, she was very tough.
The freak then with Sam......do I get a faint whiff of compassion in her voice?
The Shane situation brought that out
The way Lexi tells Shelia that she smells had me crying.
Ettie is the social worker that came right after Jean Vernon. The one with the cat and all the plants. She was nutty too and they finally shipped her off to a desk job because she drove everyone crazy. ~ LoL
She is not quite as annoying in her second role. Well, almost not.
No she quit remember? Before they could send her off to a desk job. She even lost her retirement!
She replaced Paul Reid.
@@lamontbradford4630 Paul was a useless social worker and so was Meg, Jean was the best of a bad bunch
She needs a cat
love the Barnsley pub reference from the yorkshire pud

Radiant Silver Labs See a pub in Manchester his pudding will fall off
hahaha im a scouse, we used to go around kickin mancs arses just fer fun... male mancs... n im a female
@@queeng5925 I bet it made a nice change from pushing down walls and squashing people eh?
Ive often thought dennis used to be a bouncer in the barnsley pub.
Myra truly is a class act, no two ways about it. The way she took down Lou and that other halfwit in the cell was awesome. I think Lou and Frank would make an ideal couple because they are so much alike in many ways. Judy acts tough when telling Sam she can look after herself but that is not really the case, after all she is nowhere near as strong as she used to be in the early years.
After Bea Myra was the best Top Dog in Prisoner.
I agree.
i agree aswell
yes I totally agree Myra amazing! love this show!
even Lou got sick of Frank in the end... altho how anyone could b attracted to him in the first place, ewwww greasy n weasly, tis beyond me. i cant believe he died of aids coz seriously... how could he even pick anyone up IRL xxx
Thankyou to the person further down who informed us that the new prisoner Sheila, the actress who plays her is a top Aussie recording artist called Colleen Hewett, and you can see some videos of her songs here on RUclips.
All Jan needed was some Valium to help the withdrawals, why couldn’t she see the sister for it... instead of cold turkey which can be dangerous.
Myra (Anne Phelan) was born in 1948 so that puts her 38 when this started. Myra stated when she entered Wentworth that she was 38
9:30 Every time I hear them mention "Matt 'n' Jeff" it makes me think of the days of The Hardy Boys
Ahhh I'm going to think that now too 🤣
I'm guessing this is the start of the end of Judy's time at pcbh 😭
Good
Wow!!! That new girl can really sing!!! Beautiful song, so poignant.
Problembeing Thankyou to the person further down who informed us that the new prisoner Sheila, the actress who plays her is a top Aussie recording artist called Colleen Hewett, and you can see some videos of her songs here on RUclips... Although that song she sings here is not written by her but someone called Marc Leon apparently and it's called 'hard times.'
Lexie looks like Minnie Mouse with that huge silly bow on her head!
pandoraamos1 That would never be allowed in a real prison
I absolutely love Etty Parslow, great character. This is Lois Ramsey’s second appearance she also played social worker Agnes Foster.
the girl has great pipes reminds me of my first time hearing janis joplin, she has the blues and that raspy flow. gave me shivers. reminds me of when they had b/w shows about prison sometime and a guy was there on a harmonica telling how hard life is
I wonder if Mother Blood and the Haemophiliacs put any records out.
damn myras a ninja!
Myra can sure kick ass!
@Radiant Silver Labs Myra seems to be getting tougher as each episode progresses... that's what i like about her reign as Top Dog...she was not only smart but had the guts and the strength too!
Sick of that bloody Samantha dragging her feet around after Judy with a pitiful look on her face.
She gets Electrocuted by Lou, setting Myra.
Used to feel sorry for Jude, surrounded by women and not a hope in hell. She could do worse than the artist. Must be pining for Pix.
i still feel soz fer her... or any lesbian who falls in love with a str8 woman. none of the ones i know would EVER act on it but imagine if str8 was the dif way and u fell fer a girl u could never tell or have any hope with
I think I like the new girl's voice even better than Margo's (Jane Clifton)
Karin Swift Thankyou to the person further down who informed us that the new prisoner Sheila, the actress who plays her is a top Aussie recording artist called Colleen Hewett, and you can see some videos of her songs here on RUclips.
I like her singing voice, but she speaks so low,I can't understand a bloody thing she says!
Let the midnight special shine it's ever lovin' light on me! While clapping. BTW, Jane Clifton was at the 40 year anniversary special and sang that part of the song. Betty and Anne were there too.
@@sheriheffner2098 I saw the video of the 40th anniversary .Jane Clifton did a bang-up job. There was only one Margo.
@@eugenedegeorge5084 That's right.
Another example of Joan’s good side by stopping Sam.
Joyce and her bottle cap glasses
Mrs. Barry,a.k.a "Mrs. Magoo" with those coke bottle glasses!
RIP Joycee.
I quite like the new prisoners concept of tidying up. Just pick it all up, shove it in the wardrobe and quickly close the door. It’s only a mess if you can see it 🤣.
Bit like my youngest daughter 😂
I see Judy is still bitter over Sam stealing Tony away from Driscoll.
❓❓❓Whaaaat? Sam wasn't even in it during the Driscoll episodes 🙄
@@fabpcbhfan9592 OMG I was fkn joking. The actress who plays Sam, played Tony’s girlfriend, Melissa. Episodes 323-325.
@@KenyanBunnie ohhhh. I must have forgot about Tony's girlfriend as it was ages ago when I had series 1 on 😅ha. I thought you thought Maxine was the same actress🤣 loll (as I remembered maxine being with Tony).
Now that that you mention it, I sort of remember Tony knocking on his gf's door and that Sam actress was the gf who opened the door, her gormless face 😂lol
Tony was a real spunk!!
@@Redsleather Indeed he was. Chris Sutton was too! 🐷
Judy knows all about "Fake Coppers" she tried that routine once! lol
Richmond Tiger complete with that ridiculous Irish accent! 🤣
I'm surprised Barry let that guitar through - I thought instruments of torture were illegal
19:18 That wobbly, distorted portrait of Judy was not very flattering at all! Judy should have made Sam eat it.
Isn't it amazing how Janice recovered from her cold turkey towards the end? I guess having a little pet project like investigating Ettie's case must have worked wonders.
Hahaha!
Yes, it’s a huge help to have something to busy your hands and mind while you are freeing yourself from the demons of addiction.
@ Problembeing: Coleen Hewett, who portrayed Sheila, is a top recording artiste in Australia.
Yes she definitely was!!!
and her sister plays Juice in Wentworth
@@tefllife2024 If I remember correctly, she was the lead in the stage musical "Godspell" as well.

Both Judy and Meg were off at the same time and came back at the same time! Holiday together?
Maybe
Myras only 40??? What!
I often wonder why they have gate guards .. they're bloody hopeless in an emergency
I just love watching this show, that we old woman has been there before when Bea was there, she was a social worker before she got lifted.
That new woman has a fantastic singing voice.
thought judy couldnt go anywhere near the dryers.. thought her
pacemaker couldnt handle them. LOL!
when theyre turned on
Myra is 39............not sure I'm buying that when Judy said it was the big one I thought she meant 50 not bloody 40.....🤣🤣🤣
Some nice direction in this episode, makes a change - 27:57 Great timing before Judy tries to tell the newbie she smells, then everyone gets up to leave! 41:42 camera pans out after Greenway makes her sudden decision to harm herself, even the music seems to follow on perfectly.
Myra delivered an almost gracious backhand shot to kath 😁
This probably is one of the lows of prisoner, when the "issue" that they are trying to talk about is hygene and the warder is MAKING a prisoner's bed. Can you imagine Vera, Jim or Colleen doing that? I recall early on, even Meg telling another prisoner to get another inmate to show you how to make it right.
meg would, fletch prolly woulda too
Len Murphy would have made the inmate not the bed .
Pixies Song is coming along nicely lol 😂🤮
It was only the last episode lou said she cud take myra by herself with one arm tied behind her back 30 mins later she is getting battered with her bodyguard in tow 😂😂😂
She is always getting battered lol all talk
Aggghh 🙉 Smelly Sheila started singing. I forgot she did that.
Joan smacking Sam's drawings out of her hand was a bit naughty she was asking her to do her a free drawing a couple of episodes ago
Since Bea & Lizzy left, Judy was really the engine room of the show. You could see how flat things went just there when she was out if it briefly.
Lexie is the most annoying character. She's so colorful, decorated, made-up, loud, annoying, obnoxious, and serves no real purpose... it's clear she's only there as a producer's child. She is the only prisoner ever to bring in an entire wardrobe, massive amounts of accessories, a heavy make up collection, and apparently a personal stylist who puts her together every morning after shower...
Jesus that scarf on ol’ Den at 12:52 makes him look like Mrs Doubtfire without the makeup
Yeah, 40 plus VAT,
As if Greenway would have be allowed to keep that sharp knife thing.
00:50 Find it hard to believe a prisoner would be allowed a small sharp knife as part of their personal items (art supplies). 36:27 Never noticed before. Those are some bushy "man" brows you got there Lou.
sparky it wasnt a sharp knife, it was a palette knife. lou sharpened it on the floor or wall... summat easy to do. course it wasnt allowed in a max sec prison in the 90's when i was in, or since... maybe not then in real prisons either... a palette knife only needs to b plastic... altho u can make an awesome weapon outta them too
Hard to believe I ever liked Judy. But the writers ruined her once she started the halfway house. They turned her into a wannabe Bea Smith complete with silent minions who laughed at all her jokes. By the time she was back in prison she was jealous of Myra for being top dog when she convinced her to take the job, treats Sam like shit when Sam was trying to help her and plays the victim better than Bobby Mitchell and Doreen combined.
god myra is fucking rock solid!!!!!!! adrenalin high when u took out lou and co!
Blimey, Myra is only 39? She must have had an uphill paper round! How old s Jude supposed to be then?
Well, we all know that Prisoner is farfetched- this has to take the biscuit!
Judy is 26
The actress was 37 in this episode according to mi calculations.
Judy was born in 1939 and Myra 1948.
@@gthbf1 I think that’s her dress size, not her age

Good Gwad, close the legs tho.
Love how Kelly throws her weight around in getting Desmond

prisoner isn't the same without Doreen, bea and lizzy
Although that was quite witty!
Time moves there characters are the past as good as it was we are where we are enjoy what it is now or here's a idea if you don't like it turn off
All three characters had run their course by the time they left, especially Bea & Doreen

I feel sorry for Sam, she's a nice lass.
She's a 'wet drip', just like Rick Mannings gf Rachel 😅
@@fabpcbhfan9592 Nah, Sam was a breath of fresh air around there... nice calm energy about her. Not sure about her drawing of The Major and Shane though! lol. She was a bit like Rachel, yes (remember I mentioned Sam to you before when you complained about Rachel). I like the pleasant quiet ones who avoid the drama!
@@josephd.2725 the drawing was not good loll😆 whats happened about shane? Is that it now? Does fergo not bother with him anymore? She didn't even say "goodbye" to him when she left the Taylors house😑 so does she see shane again? Or no?
Yea, I remember you mentioning Sam when I first called Rachel a "wet drip"☺, I was going to mention it in my last comment, but decided to keep the comment short 🤗 . I respect your opinion on Sam, but I still think she just as much as a "wet drip" as Rachel. Both pointless characters. As was Alyson Paige😆 And Leigh Templer 🤣
@@fabpcbhfan9592 Well, at least I got it right when I thought you'd feel the same about Sam as Rachel, heh. Wait until you see Barbie later on! The ultimate pointless waste of character, but she's hot lol. Not to be confused with Barbie Fields in the 300s! All I can say about Shane is that The Taylors' house isn't the last place Joan sees him. And I laughed so much when Shane's foster dad (Jason Donovan's real father) spanked she shit out of Shane! He was asking for it for so long! Those were the days. Imagine that on TV now?? 🤣🤣
@@fabpcbhfan9592 Actually, you'll find that I contradict myself big time about liking the quiet ones who stay out of drama, because Lexie was my biggest crush in Prisoner, and still is! I don't care that everyone hates her! lol

Myra is a legend.
The freak made Lizzy stop wearing her cardigan over her uniform yet ettie wears hers🤷
Does Judy have to return
This inmate was put in solitary and "forgotten" for 15 months! How does that even happen? Said he had to pull his own bad teeth when they hurt and alot of other awful stuff. The US Gov't just awarded him 5.5 million dollars in a settlement. Damn son!
Ettie is annoying but I believe she can, for the most part, take care of herself (i.e...trippin Frank while pretending to have heart probs) which is very kewl!
This has probably happened more often than we will ever be told. But I remember one case where they left the man in solitary and he died from dehydration and starvation. There was no water in the toilet or sink!
Evil bastards allowing this to happen. Just disgusting.
Ok new lady!!! i hear, you Sang then!!!🙌🎵🎼🎵🎼🎤🎤
prisoner boils down to grades of toughness.. lou is actually really tough after the grade of top dog.. and she doesnt abuse it tooo much..
She doesn’t abuse it much because she almost always fails at every turn! 🤣
Again, I think I must have my thick hat on. Why doesn't that Sheila wanna shower, wash her clothes etc? Even homeless folk when they have the opportunity take the chance to have a lick 'n' a promise!! I don't get the storyline.
Bettie shes never been told to or learned how
What a lovely songing voice she has
lexi's attitude changes when her mom lands in prison. till then she will act goofy

About time for Governor Joan 😂 she'll crack the whip
Sick to death of Sam. All she does is shuffle around with the same pitiful bloody look on her face and follow Judy everywhere.
Usually it's the other way around
OMG how horrible is that Simon le Bon poster (blue demin chest showing) behind Lou in her cell!! to quote Lexie "he aint no boy George"
not to mention George O'Dowd still looks hot now... unlike simon
Notice bea got a mention once myra was talking about branding frank judy said bea branded nola
Arrival of Sheila means the soon coming departure of Judy.
I wonder if the Sheila characters name was based on a worldwide book a former American named Torey Hayden who had written a book about one of her children whom she named Sheila for anonymously? The name of the book is One Child and it will make you cry because it's about this six year old girl who is neglected by her alcoholic and drug addicted father. Her mother pushed her onto a highway at.the age of four, taking a younger brother and abandoning little Sheila.
Dennis is my hero! Love the Simon LeBon poster. I saw Duran Duran in concert back in 1988 in Chicago. I touched Simon! It was awesome! Sheila might be afraid of water. Maybe that's why she doesn't want to shower. Go take a shower Sheila, pleaszzzze! Hurray, Meg is back! Most of these Australian women look much older than their age. Probably due to smoking, drinking, and getting lots of sun.
+Shirley Smitten I saw them back in Edinburgh in 2009, one of the best gigs I've ever been to! SLB is still incredibly handsome and looks way younger than his years, some ppl are just born lucky lol. There was a Wacko Jacko poster in the cell too if I'm not wrong.
Shirley Smitten it was set in a prison, what sort of women were you expecting, Elle Mc Pherson, or Kylie Minogue? They weren't meant to be attractive or super models.
they r MUCH older than the characters they play tis maybe why??? duh ... friggin american stupidity. days of shirleys life... ur comments are as pathetic as Sheri451's u need to join the same knitting group grandma
That's because they are older than the characters they're portraying.

Maddy Brindle looks 50 tbh with her grey hair
So we are supposed to believe that Myra is 39?
More like 49🤣
She was born in real life in 1948 this was aired in 86 I think so she was ACTUALLY 38 in real life..... 😂
