I must say thank you RUclips for showing classics. I pay for RUclips premium not to have the commercials and I must say it is an excellent venue for music
at that time in the US I remember it was abysmal; probably the first actual live artist I saw was on a public television station (a Leon Russell thing on channel 13). most all we got was lip synch (as if we couldn’t tell?!?)
Outstanding performance!! What an ARTIST is Julie Driscoll - what great moves , a natural born dancer! - and the brilliant Brian Auger on hammond.. WOW👏👏👏👏👏
Have you seen Brian lately. He's fat and his son Karma plays drums and his daughters Savannah or Allie sings for him. I've seen him 3 times, amazing every time I see him
I think Julie has a terrible voice, she doesn't hit almost one note. But: In the sixties that was cult, it was totally new and exciting, und most of us enjoyed it 😇
Ditto this is easily the best version I've ever heard too! I don't know why, but you've got another commentator here (above mine, I think?) moaning about Julie Driscoll being a terrible singer who doesn't hit the notes, but supposedly the cult of the 1960s carried it all along apparently!? 🤔 What utter shit. She's a great singer, maybe technically not THE best, she's certainly got a low singing voice but it's perfect for how she sings. And especially for this song, most definitely! Singing *_isn't always_* about 'hitting the notes' (otherwise we'd have everyone attempting to sing like Mariah Carey in the 1990s!), it's mainly about expression. And she expresses herself here *amazingly!* This song they make their own for sure! It gives me goosebumps... 🤗 So good... PS - if there was ever a song of hers that I didn't like so much, it would be 🔥Wheels On Fire🔥... I still like it, just... erm... not so much! 😊 And with THAT particular song, I might see what that other commentator here is on about. But that's about it really... 🤔
Von der Jahreszeit der Hexe verkörpert durch Julie Driscoll lasse ich mich immer noch gerne verzaubern.😉😊💞 I still love being enchanted by the Season of the Witch, embodied by Julie Driscoll.😉😊💞
I can see how this song alone probably made Donovan a millionaire!!! 🤔😊 It's been covered by hundreds of artists, live and on LP... And they all make a good version of it! And each is fairly different to the original. But this HAS TO BE MY TOTAL FAVOURITE! 😊 ✌🏼😀👍🏼 Fuck yeah!
I haven't yet heard a version of "Season of the Witch" that I didn't like. The song has a simple structure that invites improvisation. Stills and Kooper did a nice job. Vanilla Fudge did the scariest version. This one may be the most musically interesting. Thanks for posting.
My Mum would always come into my room and go "What is with all the screaming?" or some sort. Me?....ahhhhh. Jules. I also saw them when they opened for Led Zeppelin at Winterland, SF around 68 or Nine. They were much, much louder than Zep. How would I know? Tripp'en...and, I believe Julie had this really nice looking girl scout dress on!
I admit I'm here after seeing Julie and Brian on the Monkees special, 33 & 1/3 rev per Monkee from 1968 and enjoying both of these artists! Great stuff.
I heard Brian Auger & the Trinity with Julie Driscoll do this song at the Alexandra Palace in summer 1967. More room for Julie to prowl the stage, but this version is great,
In theory the Hammond is a mechanical device and anyone should be able to get these sounds out of one, but Auger seems to produce sounds out of it that are entirely his own somehow. Quite stunning.
I was a teen in Jersey when I first heard this band. We all called her Jules, not Julie or Jools. I sounded different, and I must admit, I've ben looking for her, and Auger, under Jules. They were around the same year or two when Dylan, Donovan, and The Jeff Beck with Rod Stewart band were around. Didn't know til now that Rod, Brian, and Jules had a band earlier. The Super Session LP with Al Kooper, Mike Bloomfield, and Steve Still did a great "Witch", too. Catch Johnny Winter's first mention on the Super Session LP with Mike and Al sans Steve. He played a means blues gig and rocked the Fillmore that night.
I think I was 11 or 12 when I first heard Season of of Which played by Bloomfield, Still and Kooper. Those notes pretty much determined my bond with music. I must say it's the first time in 40 years I hear a version of Season of the Witch that doesn't make me feel missing that first one.
Can you imagine if Brubeck had recorded this song? Fun to think about. And yes, one of those songs that I've loved, from Stills, Kooper and Bloomfield, Vanilla Fudge and of course Donavon. This video brings back memories of my late teen years.
Thisbis my grandmother! Only appreciating her music at the age of 23! One of my best friends
Awesome!
🍀 there’s only One Julie Driscoll…😘
How cool is that?
boy o boy Id have a crush on grandma that for sure. She was certainly hot and ahead of the times.
I LIKE IT VERY MUCH ❤🎉
I must say thank you RUclips for showing classics. I pay for RUclips premium not to have the commercials and I must say it is an excellent venue for music
Only bottom out great now back to donovan Leitch and company for grandads and grannies
The West Germans made some outstanding rock video recordings in the 60's. And no lip-synching. This recording is such a treasure.
at that time in the US I remember it was abysmal; probably the first actual live artist I saw was on a public television station (a Leon Russell thing on channel 13). most all we got was lip synch (as if we couldn’t tell?!?)
Ahts no wit Stuart wid say
Absolutely Brad, this drenches your soul. It's the kind of song you don't want anyone to be talking over when you listen to it.
Amen, Brad.
So many fantastic live performances from beat club
Julie & Brian produced music that was so far ahead of its time in the late 60’s, that it sounds hip and contemporary even today!
Talk about owning a song. Devastatingly Great.
She was even then one of a kind. None else like her, talking of her looks and her singing
This is still cool in 2022. Timeless.
Outstanding performance!! What an ARTIST is Julie Driscoll - what great moves , a natural born dancer! - and the brilliant Brian Auger on hammond.. WOW👏👏👏👏👏
Julie the face of the sixties Brian is a underrated musician great times never to come back
Reincarnation is real :D
Never heard of this song, band or singer. Now I know who Stevie Nicks learned her moves from!
The dance .....omg..... And the organ solo.... The 60s at it's best. Best version of the song.
From the moment Julie released Wheels on Fire in the 60s she was the most Visual & Audio Female Singer around. Happy Days. BRILLIANT. STUNNING 💖
I had such a huge crush on this lady around the time of this recording. Stunningly beautiful, I never forgave Keith Tippett . . . . .
What a beautiful woman & voice
Wow. This is the best version I've ever heard of this band playing this song. Julie's vocal is otherworldly.
Have you seen Brian lately. He's fat and his son Karma plays drums and his daughters Savannah or Allie sings for him. I've seen him 3 times, amazing every time I see him

@@nickthelick B-but... Wheels On Fire is her absolutely best. Loved it since 5 years old (decades before Absolutely Fabulous).
@@Kotoucak 😉👍🏼
I like it too. Just not as much as her other stuff. I
Von der Jahreszeit der Hexe verkörpert durch Julie Driscoll lasse ich mich immer noch gerne verzaubern.😉😊💞
I still love being enchanted by the Season of the Witch, embodied by Julie Driscoll.😉😊💞
For a teenage boy growing up in the 60's Julie Driscoll was the witch!
That she was!
Not hard to listen 👂 but it's the seasoning s.... 🤕.
Well she bewitched me!
100%!
Highly excelent!!! First time to hear 65y.o.Licensed listner, Riga city, exUssr
Freaking phenonemous performance!
Merci milesanddizzy pour cet ajout musical avec Julie Drscoll and Brian Auger ✿¸.•'**☆🕺 🎼⊰✿🎼🎵 🎹💖
Driscoll was my favourite singer for about a year. Future Pilot was my favourite song. So dynamic. She was a very brilliant original. Like Hendrix.
Jools and Brian are the best ever!!
Brian's solo with Julie dancing is one for the ages I tell ya!
Superb version of this song.
I can see how this song alone probably made Donovan a millionaire!!! 🤔😊

Wow! Saw it the first time. Very impressing.
This lady is my spirit animal! Good performance!

C est un ami qui m a envoyé cette vidéo. Le son est incroyable.vraiment quel bonheur d ecouter cela.❤❤❤
Wow that was great!!! Thanks for that very much.
Well, I'm being schooled here - fantastic stuff, digging deeper now.
Brian Auger´s B3-playing is awesome!
This is the most outstanding version of this song.

Of course, Sam Gopal, but I agree never heard a bad version.
How about Donovan. After all, he wrote the song.
Hard to better Donovan but check out Lee Eisenstein's cover. ruclips.net/video/vj5ePUpFgZQ/видео.html
Two chords, hard to get lost.
One of the century hit!
jools thé most fantastic singer of thé century je l adore !
This song is like son of preacher man. Many covers always nice
One of my top favorite singers of all time. Love her dancing and the whole vibe.
My Mum would always come into my room and go "What is with all the screaming?" or some sort. Me?....ahhhhh. Jules. Oh what days are lost forever. A Jazz pop classic!
Outstanding, not from this world !
Una performance a tutto tondo : voce, corpo musica che diventa un tutt' uno , Driscoll ipnotica ..😮❤
Nice to see an actual LIVE version! Thanks
Grazie♥🎵🎶🎹🎹🎹🥁🎤🎸✿💖♪
Simply enthralling...a glimpse of live art and music combined. Thank you for sharing this Munich 1969 performance. Wow.
Just one word: Music!
Brian the best Organ !!!!!!!
a Donovan song - very underrated!
I admit I'm here after seeing Julie and Brian on the Monkees special, 33 & 1/3 rev per Monkee from 1968 and enjoying both of these artists! Great stuff.
Top notch musicians. Jools's vocals are sublime.
Yes, she´s not only a great singer, she can dance, too... REAL COOL, GREAT!!!
Just discovered this and my mind blew up...
Oh My God SO Cool!! Love this.. Love Julie!!! xxx
Hi from Australia Brian, sorry just discovering your great music It's cool✌
Saw them at winterland, opened up led zep on 1st tour 69-70. So freaking good, played really loud. Streetnoise is their album at that time.
Are there any recordings of jules and brian at ronnie scots club around 69-71 before he left for USA?
I heard Brian Auger & the Trinity with Julie Driscoll do this song at the Alexandra Palace in summer 1967. More room for Julie to prowl the stage, but this version is great,
First take! excellent footage!
Hippie,Trippy and exquisite
well said

I can't thank you enough for bringing this to us all.
Back in my day when I would buy LPs German LPS we're always excellent in quality and selection of music
I forgot all about these guys. Great band.
I dig Julie Driscoll!
give me so much CHILLS, this is a true performance !
This is awesome ! I saw Brian play with Eric Burden when they toured the states around 2000 - they were both truly great !
brilliant.
Such a presence!
Masterpiece
unreal fantastic
look at that dancing ! insane !
This is better than good... it's sublime.
I bought her album in 1968...loved them!
I tip my hat to you, sir! Your words give me synesthesia and I taste nothing but exotic fruit juice blends now
einfach einmalig und unnachahmbar !!!
Good god,i`m in love...great performance.

You can hear the influence of Nina Simone. Great interpretation and performance!
I Love the way you dance. Julie.
Amazing version
I remember seeing them a little later on American TV when I probably was 14.
Boy they knocked me for a loop.
Suddenly I was a big fan.
Killer track. Performed majestically

Sophisticated.
A masterpiece. Una obra maestra.

The original was by Donovan.
You are right, I know it. Perhaps I have badly written.
Amazing! Wow.
Grandissimo duo
Corre corre la nostalgia. Che classe. Chapeau!!!!!
brilliant!

Espectacular, siempre me hace recordar la voz de Janis Joplin,
What an amazing performance!
Thanks a lot for uploading!
Never heard of this group before. It's a shame you never hear them on radio.
At least far as I know they don't.
Super Great job.
